I just wanted to thank you! I really appreciate your help. I so wish everyone could be helping each other like this during this trying time - thank again
HUGE THANK YOU. I have had this problem since yesterday and don't know if it's because I was cleaning and got a cable stuck behind these buttons or actually doing what you did in the video worked. Not sure. But still thank u
Thank you for this! Turns out that I had my new firestick hooked up to the new tv and it was causing it to reboot during the firmware update. I was mounting this tv on the bedroom wall and there wasn’t enough room for me to hook up everything so I hooked up everything before the update! We’re all good now. Thanks again. SUBSCRIBED!!
My Vizio 75inch E series went black & then started circling ( icon going in a circle like it was buffering ) I turned it off and held power button for 30 seconds and it came right on like nothing was wrong. Thanks DIYTECK, Good Call!
Omg thank u so much it happened yesterday I was play GTA with my brother in law and I kept on getting mad because the tv would keep on turning off but I watched this and It worked thank u
Thank you dear Sir! This reset seems to have fixed my TV. It’s an older unit 6-7 years old so I sure thought I needed to buy a TV. I hope I can get just a little more out of the current one. Thanks again!
Having a problem with my vizo tv had it in storage for bout 2yrs and I just went to watch it as soon as I plugged it in the led light came on but went out and the tv wont power on?
Happy to hear this helped many people. Mine just randomly got stuck in a boot loop a few minutes ago, which is how I stumbled upon this video. Seems like way too many people have had this problem. Wtf Vizio!?! My last Vizio lasted forever, this one is damn near brand new and stuck in boot loop for some unknown reason, this "hard reset" process has not worked for me, I am going to keep trying before giving up, but this is some straight BS. If this don't work, after seeing how many other people have had similar issues, I certainly won't buy another Vizio again.
Update after reading through some of these comments here, I decided to check the batteries in my Amazon fire stick remote, and sure as shyt, the old batteries were making my fire stick remote glitch out and continuously turn my tv on and off non stop LMFAO
Guys .. I'm having same rebooting too, but, video did a update last wk and it did do something to my fire stick, the orange icon isn't lit anymore, & I can use the fire stick remote, but all my shht is gone. . Where is the reset button on fire stick? I unplug it & that doesn't help😢 any thoughts ???? Thx 4/29/23
Backlight LED is bad. One or more is bad. You basically have to take the whole tv apart and change a .20 cent led light. Around 3 hours of intense labor. Just ditch it man.
u saved me almost catch a heart attack i factory reset my tv and then it wont show nothing on the screen but thanks to Charlie i fix it tx Charlie ....
I bought a 50" Vizio (V505-9G). I relocated to another house so I packed the t.v. carefully and on its original box and hard foam protectors. Once at the other house it got unpacked and installed and it had a hazy and slow blinking screen. There was no problem with sound but the characters on the program appeared as if behind fog in addition to the slow blinking. Long story short: I solved the problem by lifting the t.v. from the bottom right corner. I think the right leg got put on wrong and its causing that malfunction. If you happen to have the same model and problem, try that, then, remove/reinstall the leg leg in question. Hopefully it'll work for you as well.
we had the same tv like a year ago it was working fine until my son threw a ball at it and broke. we got the same tv and now we are having problems with it, sometimes the control doesnt work or the tv does not turn on, we try unplugging it plug back in and turns on but then shuts off its been a pain in the rear. right now the control is not working.
i just turn it on and push the home button on the remote it resets its settings it has something to do with different hdmis like my xbox setting has different resolutions and the fire stick does too so it gets confused on the settings thier smart tvs but not that smart any ways push the home button on the tv remote go toyoutube and then switch to the hdmi u want u have to rememebr wich hdmi is what and then it goes from default to wich hdmi output u put i did this and after while my problem stopped and i just bought this tv but works perfect now it even works with my fire tv remote so i can put my vilume up and down withthe fire stick remote
for the past week or so, I usually have the tv source as antenna. NOW, when I shut the TV and restart it the next day, instead of antenna, it is switched to either cable or TV. Also, After I am watching HDMI I change the source to Antenna (when that was working properly) and it used to stay on Antenna when I turned it on the next time. Now it goes back to the HDMI source I was using. Lastly, I can't make the "burn in? stay off so the screen keeps changing colors. I went into the 1999 menu to turn it off and that works as long as I am watching. Once I turn it off and restart, I get the color screens again. HELP!!!!! Any suggestions?? Vizio doesn't know shit from Shinola so they were no help. Thanx in advance.
So if I just bought a new vizio and in the setup process it keeps doing the initial update (4 times now) what the heck is going on, is this the same issue? I never even got it going, brand new out of the box. I just tried this process and am waiting to see if it will work another "10 min" (more like 30) :/
Perhaps if you're using a Fire Stick streaming device and using the tv's USB port to power it, the Fire Stick may be drawing too much current from the tv's 5 volt supply. Since all the circuitry usually runs on 5 volts, that may be an issue. I remember when I first plugged my Fire Stick into my tv, there was an on screen message that the usb power from the tv was insufficient and to use the supplied adapter. It's kind of like how some phone chargers are 5 volt and .5 amp and some chargers supply 5 volts at 2.1 amp. The device may require more current than the TV's USB port can supply and if it glitches the power supply, it's going to shut the tv down.
Another site believe it or not recommended taking the batteries in and out the Firestick remote....it worked for me. I was literally about to go online and order a new tv.
Our TV has been doing that also now when trying to watch Prime or RUclips will drop and go backs to TV. Also sometimes the TV will not shut off have to unplug it to turn it off.
My 2014 60" Vizio Model E600i-B3 started rebooting itself every 10-15 seconds. I attempted the power cycle, but that didn't work. The TV was plugged into a power strip so I decided to try a different outlet. I plugged the TV directly into the wall outlet, bypassing the power strip. This worked! The TV has not rebooted since. If you are having this problem, bypass your power strip/surge protector, and see if that helps. The problem might just be the electrical source and not the actual TV. Then go buy yourself a new power strip with surge protection to plug the TV back into, because a power outage without surge protection can zap your TV for good. Good luck!
Fyi, it's mostly false advertisement that surge protectors protect against surges. The boxes do guarantee replacing your equipment up to like 250k but they make it impossible to claim.. Its very unlikely to ever have a device that dies from a surge. It's recommended to plug heavy appliances directly into the wall socket. If surges were a real threat, they wouldnt make thes most expensive items in the house to need wall power as they do. Products generally outlive their use before they die anyway.
I troubleshooted this prob on my mseries when this happened to me recently. I knew smart tvs freeze due to a full cache, so to clear it you need to hard power cycle, aka unplug/hold power. No fix. I concluded it wasn't the soundbar or wifi. The volume was frozen before tho, no vol icon and fire cube menu slow. The tv went to a black screen 1x and froze. I never figured out the cause but Everytime I took batteries out the fire cube & Vizio remotes, it stopped, so its gotta be some issue with 1 of them. I switched the batteries too but I still don't know the cause cuz they were full. Maybe the remotes just don't like rechargeable batteris or time to order replacements. My tv is flawless beside that and a price of plastic in the corner of the screen
So my TV is doing this now and I tried doing what you stated. It has been a couple days and its doing it still. Is there anything else I can do without calling Vizio support and paying for a tech to come out?
Try this, on the REMOTE>SETTINGS> PICTURE change from HDMI to TV. TV may not hold this setting after turned off, just redo until/if VIZIO FINDS a solution. Someone on YT said it could be an overheating issue or the video processor chip too. I have a 24" under my kitchen cabinets so I turn off my under cabinet lights as needed, may have helped too.
The only issue I'm having with my Vizio is that when I turn it off there is a lil white light in the bottom right corner stays on when it does that I have tried to turn the tv back on it won't turn on it doesn't do anything at first I thought it was doing that coz it was up dating but that's not it any help??
I forgot I wrote this. I never did get to the bottom of the issue but I have a new Samsung TV now that has been working well. Thanks for the suggested fix, it was worth a shot! But that's the last Vizio I will buy
my Model is E 50D 1 vizio Smart Cast and i cant Use my SmartCast TV to Cast RUclips To ViZio SmartCast how do you fixx that issuse?? i have same issuses my wifi dont connect to my vizio Smart Cast Tv??
It turns out it was my firestick that was causing it to act up. I pulled out the batteries and waited 30 seconds and it stopped turning on and off by itself.
Powering a TV without a surge protector is asking for trouble. I have worked with electronic devices for decades and I have seen power surges cook many things over the years.
My TV did this exact same thing. I brought a new TV and it did it too immediately. Turns out my FireTv remote batteries were dying and turning the TV on and off. Nothing wrong with either TV.
Im never getting a Vizio tv again it takes 30 seconds to turn on after I press the power button and sometimes the light at the bottom stays on even tho it’s off
Mannn for the price I got it I really can’t be too upset. But restarting in the middle of games/movies is a huge bummer. Picture quality is great. I feel like it may be an issue with 4K. Like the power supply can’t handle swapping.
2023 😢 my sister have a new in box Vizio DSeries to set up for my mom - it was stuck in a continuous cycle of setup/update loops and I hadn’t gotten a chance to get out of it and get to the Home Screen
Mine does the same crap. The volume is also messed up on mine though. I will hit volume up or down and it won't do anything for about 10 seconds...Is anyone else having this issue?
That only happens if connected to a sound bar which is then the bars issue not the tv. Also make sure your remote is directed at the ir sensor in clear view of it which is in the lower corner of tv, side depends on the model. If it's obscured by a cable box it will be slow to work too. And the obvious. Make sure batteries are new and not cheap dollar store ones. Only other time that volume will be slow is if using another remote for volume which could be a cec issue with that remote or a slow HDMI cord. A higher speed certified HDMI cord is best for soundbars
My tv was turning off, back on and many times defaultung to Smartcast vs regular tv mode Could not find any way to turn Smartcast off. I just learned your Google Home account may be involved here. When I opened the Google Home on my phone my Vizio TV automatically went to SMARTCAST. I think the auto on/off could be a signal fm Google to remind us of all the "good stuff we're missing. I just uninstalled Google Home app on my phone & tablet. Stay tuned. FYI. Before this I already tried: 1. Soft Power cycle, 2. Unplugging/holding power button/turn back on, 3. Reset to Quick Start vs Eco, 4. Settings>Reset & Admin> to turn off Smart feature [not there so I turned off Viewing Data], 5. Turned USB power off 6. CEC disabled. 7. Turned Timer off.
Same. I’ve actually done everything you’ve described, and to no avail, as well. I even replaced the $10 WiFi board (as I was told it could be the cause) and the issue persists. Found any solutions yet? Please keep us informed; and thanks for your diligence ...reassuring to know we’re not alone in this😌
@@xevvy6857 plug tv directly into wall outlet. Also remove batteries from remote. Sometimes this happens to me but I'm pretty sure it's the remote , either my fire cube or Vizio remote, 1 is the culprit.
@@keithphelps1196 you will have to look at your mainboard.type in the number thats on the sticker on ebAY. sCROLL DOWN AND you will find one. It wont take long because it is so common. But I replaced mine and it's still powre cycling and no backlights.
When a tv starts acting up like in this video it means the firmware has become corrupt . The only way to permanently fix this problem would be to replace your eeprom on the mainboard or just replace the entire mainboard. Sometimes you can force reload new firmware with usb loaded software but most times the eeprom needs replaced.
Hi Charlie, my tv keeps turning on every minute or two, I switch it off it comes back on. TV was perfectly fine no problem whatsoever but as the cable man installed the cable and connect it , next thing I know when I got home the TV was on I turn it off it comes back on; I need help please , someone, anyone please!
My VIZIO 65" Class M-Series™ Quantum 4K Ultra started doin the same thing it works fine during the day. In the morning when I wanna watch tv it does the same thing.Just bought this tv 2weeks ago
i had noticed the issue is more frequent when i am in computer mode and much less often in calibrated dark mode ... i also turned off the CEC setting (changed it to arc only from enabled )and the power setting to eco mode right now it's better i will see if tomorrow the issue will repeat itself (i am in a different country and using American imported tv so i am using an adapter to change the power voltage from 60 100 to 50 240 so troubleshooting above is relevant to cause i can't use the power plugs without some kind of converter ... (or can I? ... think not but maybe someone knows better ...(i mean how to do the same troubleshooting from this video with one difference to turn off the tv reset it without it buying plugged directly ?)
I'm going to try this with my P-Series. It's so irritating, especially if you're in the middle of playing a game or something and the screen just flashes off for no reason!
You ever find a fix for this bc I have a P series too and if it goes off while I’m playing a game again my controller might find it’s way through a Vizio
Had this problem. Turned out it was my firestick controller. Tried the reset in this video but nothing. Kept looking and found in the ifixit web site that someone happened upon the problem being the firestick remote flipping out. Ripped the batteries out of mine and problem GONE! Thought I'd share incase you have a firestick and this reset doesn't solve your problem.
That just happened to me too! There was a light on the fire stick remote that was flashing briefly in the upper right corner… I’m so glad I saw your message, thank you!
Everyone keeps talking about their fire stick. What about the people who DONT HAVE A FIRE STICK and has nothing connect except their Cable cord connected
Never getting a Visio again

I think the auto on/off could be a signal fm Google to remind us of all the "good stuff we're missing. I just uninstalled Google Home app on my phone & tablet. Stay tuned.
FYI. Before this I already tried:
1. Soft Power cycle,
2. Unplugging/holding power button/turn back on,
3. Reset to Quick Start vs Eco,
4. Settings>Reset & Admin> to turn off Smart feature [not there so I turned off Viewing Data],
5. Turned USB power off
6. CEC disabled.
7. Turned Timer off.
Same.
I’ve actually done everything you’ve described, and to no avail, as well. I even replaced the $10 WiFi board (as I was told it could be the cause) and the issue persists.
Found any solutions yet?
Please keep us informed; and thanks for your diligence
...reassuring to know we’re not alone in this😌
Update: problem is solved. No issues since I deleted the Google Smart Home app. Suggest you try it.
@@xevvy6857 plug tv directly into wall outlet. Also remove batteries from remote. Sometimes this happens to me but I'm pretty sure it's the remote , either my fire cube or Vizio remote, 1 is the culprit.
It's a memory chip.. Cost $15 off ebay.. You have to solder it though.. Or pay around 150 for in house repair.
Do you have that ebay item number or a part number?
@@keithphelps1196 you will have to look at your mainboard.type in the number thats on the sticker on ebAY. sCROLL DOWN AND you will find one. It wont take long because it is so common. But I replaced mine and it's still powre cycling and no backlights.
mine turns off the the light the shows that it’s on stays on then it fades then comes back even when i disconnect it
When a tv starts acting up like in this video it means the firmware has become corrupt .
Yo
This just happened today right now you have to update if it has a red !!! Symbol you have to update it.
My vizio tv screen turns grey and shows nothing and sometimes it turns on by itself it’s weird
I have exactly the same problem!
My VIZIO 65" Class M-Series™ Quantum 4K Ultra started doin the same thing it works fine during the day. In the morning when I wanna watch tv it does the same thing.Just bought this tv 2weeks ago
Mine didnt ever do this for the year I've had mine then boom it's just a mess. Turns off and on multiple times during first boot up.
Figured out my issue was actually with my Comcast Box turning the TV on and off.. figures..
I did this and was so excited because it worked on my 10+ year-old Vizio... for about 30 seconds. Looks like it's time for a new TV....
😂
Ugh... is too
have the same issue with the 2019 m quantum strange that in 2019 they didn't solve it yet ...
i had noticed the issue is more frequent when i am in computer mode and much less often in calibrated dark mode ... i also turned off the CEC setting (changed it to arc only from enabled )and the power setting to eco mode right now it's better i will see if tomorrow the issue will repeat itself (i am in a different country and using American imported tv so i am using an adapter to change the power voltage from 60 100 to 50 240 so troubleshooting above is relevant to cause i can't use the power plugs without some kind of converter ... (or can I? ... think not but maybe someone knows better ...(i mean how to do the same troubleshooting from this video with one difference to turn off the tv reset it without it buying plugged directly ?)
If this works, I'm buying you a vacuum.
I'm going to try this with my P-Series. It's so irritating, especially if you're in the middle of playing a game or something and the screen just flashes off for no reason!
DownToBusiness Reviews just happened to me while playing apex legends
You ever find a fix for this bc I have a P series too and if it goes off while I’m playing a game again my controller might find it’s way through a Vizio
Did u ever fix it? My vizio V series tv keeps doing this while I'm playing tekken online ugh. Had this TV for about 6 months now
My TV Model: V505-H9. It Reboots on 1080p HDR but 4k HDR works fine.
i just tried resetting back to factory settings watching to see if it happens again as well
Had this problem.
Bruh - thank you SO much!!!
Life saver
My tv doing this now what to do
Mine was batteries in firestick remote but thanks anyway!
That just happened to me too! There was a light on the fire stick remote that was flashing briefly in the upper right corner… I’m so glad I saw your message, thank you!
Mines turned right on and stayed on as soon as I took the batteries out of fire stick remote also
Your comment saved me from buying a new TV today. I can't believe it was just batteries in the firestick....how dumb lol THANK YOU
Did your tv stop playing your firestick and claim no signal?
Never getting Another Vizio again
Screw all this unplug, replug, stand on one leg, etc. Getting a Sony next time....
Great product???
Fixed! Found one o these and now I have a free 4k! Thanks!
Time to change brands
Everyone keeps talking about their fire stick. What about the people who DONT HAVE A FIRE STICK and has nothing connect except their Cable cord connected
