  • Weighted Jump Ropes have become popular as a means of getting fit. None more popular than the Crossrope, but are their more affordable options on Amazon? If so, are they any good?

I started using a weighted muay thai-style weighted rope (the rope itself is heavy, I think 1lb, which is plenty) and it has definitely proven to be a game changer as it challenges differently than a speed rope, and may be even more fight sport specific. I was recently reminded that my high school basketball team (early 90s) did weighted rope for conditioning drills using recycled garden hose cut to lengths. . .

Give it a week or two before trying to lube or ‘help’ the handles spin.
I’ve had a few baring handle type ropes that need a few sessions to loosen up. Cross rope was no different and the same for this cheaper version. Give them a few days or hours of use to loosen up 👍
A drawback to lubing or applying wd40 is the handles then become messy and dirty and oily / greasy forever.
    Helpful video as always 👌

About to order this rope now, as a complete beginner it’s hard to justify cross ropes price, but for 25 bucks this seems like an insane deal

I just bought this rope. Great quality and both handles spun easily. Awesome rope for the price.

We should not encourage "copycat" companies who exploit the success of other companies/individuals work, often with inferior products...but c'mon, it's not as though CR spent years and billions in development to come up with a revolutionary product, rather they took something that has existed forever, weighted ropes and put their "spin" on it, combined with marketing. The free market has spoken...CR is priced too high.

Great video. Was looking to find a good rope and this one really helped me narrow down the options. Thanks!

looks like they changed the product. I clicked on the company name and they had an orange 1lb one in their products t but I have that and I don't like it as much as the white one in this video. It's decent, don't get me wrong.

Would you recommend this 1 lb rope to a beginner that's otherwise reasonably fit? Or should I be looking for somewhat lighter ones (eg. half lb) ?

If you're already pretty fit, I'd still suggest you get a heavy rope and a speed rope. They do provide different intensities as you can imagine.

I'm personally not a fan of the handles of these ropes, personally but if this was here last year before I bought a crossrope I would have bought it in a heartbeat

I won't be buying this JR. My problem is that it's obviously a rip off of Crossrope. Even the company website and the pictures on Amazon. If you can't afford the full price CR they always have sales and have a look in the clearance section. That's were I bought all of my gift sets and different ropes I wanted to try without buying new handles. This company reminds me of "Uncle Martian". The Under Armour rip off.

I think $150 is too much for a rope even after discount. I got one, it's good but I feel the price does not make a sense. I would have bought this if I found them earlier. I searched and searched for quality weighted rope.
