Thanks for making this video series. The shower drain basin and dry well example were exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again

Without steel mesh, the concrete will crack over time, and it could be bad. I would have used some road base before laying the slab down. I learnt the hard way that concrete without steel mesh is asking for trouble.

Nice work amigo, thanks for passing on the knowledge. You're a humble guy saying that it's not the worst and not the best. My buddy always says "Can't see it from my house" heh I think it looks great and I'm going to give it a try myself, not for a shower but for a walkway repair. Just about the same size as you created, but without a pitch or drainage. You are lucky to have such a great assistant too, hey someone's gotta do the books :) JK Thanks for another great video.

Hey Zim, in hindsight would it have been worth it to pour the slab first and then just mount the posts to your concrete slab (with metal plates) so that the concrete/wood aren't in contact?

Ideally you want to be below the frost line with your posts which is why I put them in first. Probably would have been ok either way though. A lot of debate about posts installed directly into concrete. I’ve personally seen decks that are 20-30 years old installed that way that are perfectly fine and the posts are still rock solid. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻

Could I use this technique for a small concrete pad for Rubbermaid shed?

You most certainly can. I have a slab similar to this for the same exact purpose, a small garden shed for the kids bikes.

Why an outdoor shower? To save on swimming pool chlorine sanitizer? Good Grief! BTW, you have a beautiful family! 😊

Thank you! I use to think the same way…why do you need one of these? That’s until I built this one. Yes, it’s great to wash the chlorine off from the pool but also after yard work, and just cooling off during the summer. It’s also pretty cool to use at night and even in the cooler weather.

@@fixitwithzim Don't forget? Potable tap water is also chlorinated (unless your municipality use Ozone?)

@@Bob-yl9pm Yes, true… but not nearly as bad as the pool water
