- Zaha Hadid Architects has completed Beijing Daxing International Airport, a five pronged building that is one of the largest passenger terminals in the world.
Designed by the late Zaha Hadid and current studio principal Patrik Schumacher, the 700,000-square-metre airport to serve Beijing has been designed to be as compact as possible.

Glad to see it was completed on schedule! Zaha Hadid’s design is phenomenal
One year and three months ahead of schedule
Isn't she dead or something? I'm confused.. don't like all these modern architects anyway.. I'm a mostly classic..
@@nichlashansen8268 She is her last building is the opus omnyat. The firm, Zaha Hadid architect, is still running.
-COLOMBIANCHANNEL-TM the Chinese should've invited you being responsible for the project since u think ur keyboard is better than zaha..
@@nichlashansen8268 Construction began before she died so it's one of her last projects.
The lighting at night must be spectacular
I have to concede...in every way possible, IT IS A TRULY MAGNIFICENT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE.
Super
first eureka avatar i find in ytb!
Well said.
it was completed within 4 years, 96 football court size.
well airport in berlin started 2006. finished next year maybe. 20 times bigger but ayy
@@Julz_99 20 TIMES bigger?! LOL keep dreaming! FYI the bullshit in Berlin is still NOT open!! After how many years?!
A BC lol
Wait for frankfurt airport terminal 3 to be completed (which is being done on par with schedule )and put a cellotape on every idiot's mouth.
In China there is dictatorship, not democracy, that's why it was built only in four years!
Incredible architecture and engineering! It's just sad she didn't live to see it completed.
sam clark she died in 2016
the building feels heavily inspired by a flower! it is the most evident around 1:09. it truly feels you're inside a canopy formed by the petals and the rooftop opening resembles pollen waiting to be pollenated by airplanes almost mimicking the bumblebees. ahhh zaha you really stir up our imagination. wish I could've met you in this lifetime!
I was surprised that there was actually a mega-project completed on the year they promised it would come out. They're almost _always_ off by a year or so.
this is the era of China now, and it can make everything possible.
China has moved past the era of cheap products now, just as Germany and Japan did in the past.
What an architectural marvel!
I would never have though this was designed by Zaha Hadid! Architecturally, the shape and form of the airport looks quite oddly weird. It's in fact totally arbitrary, not quite smooth and organic as expected in her usual designs like Heydar Aliyev Center, Azerbaijan. All in all, it's NOT a typical architecture designed by Zaha Hadid. Probably someone has intentionally altered her original concept. Also, who could forget her originally beautiful Monsoon Restaurant Sapporo in Japan, with her unique concept of fire and ice! The aerial view truly proved the airport design absolutely arbitrary. Some starfish species have more than more than 5 arms, but a starfish commonly has only 5 arms that extend from a circular middle. The 6th arm of this "giant starfish-shaped" airport was intentionally lowered to probably emphasis the passenger entry and to set it apart from the flight arrivals and departures. However, it arbitrarily makes the airport look like a man/woman lying face down with his/her arms and legs stretching out like positional torture, and the distinctively split arm for passenger entry looks like 2 hands (of another person) holding the 'bottom part' of the person being tortured! It's just visually disturbing. Somebody must have intentionally altered Zaha Hadid's architectural concept.
As far as architecture design goes and its design language then yes it looks absolutely stunning!.
I love all Zaha Hadid designs, so sad she’s no longer here to make more.
because age
Dewa Bodo - her death has nothing to do with her age, she was only 65 when she died of heart attack.
Her team is still working.
Her building were hideous
@@indianajones8958 What?
the radial layout is definitely better than the linear layout, but the best is the satellite layout with underground tunnels and structures connecting the whole building. it parks more planes with a much smaller building footprint.
aby0ni Where is that arrangement used? CdG? (Does it have islands)
Love the design, love the video quality 🤙🏼
This reminds me Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. Amazing piece of architecture
I get where you are coming from as it’s similar in shape.
It’s not hard for an architecture design to look cool, what’s hard is to make it actually useful, pragmatic while looks cool. Beijing’s new airport has done both
Exquisite piece of architecture, great footage and good music choice. Would appreciate getting night shots as well....
This colossal sculpture, is architecturally a work of art which, like Gaudi's Spanish Cathedral, over stimulates me!
Simply out of this world. Amazing architecture
It's crazy how she came up with this design! Every detail is so incredible!
Not "she", it's "them".
This design is accomplished by the union many companies, including ZAHA😜
This is an absolutely great architecture! Masterpiece!
stunning. The interior of a beautiful sculpture
Stunning footage 💛
She will be missed, she changed this world for the good
Agree. Before her, I didn't know that concrete and metal can float...
LighteN Ing are u mocking her?
Doubt about it.
The beauty of this structure is amazing!
I can imagine Jackie Chan shooting his Rush Hour 4 here
I am absolutely speechless. It's simply beautiful
I hope she's still alive to see her masterpiece come to life.
Amazing.. Zaha Hadid architect.. the great architect 👍🙏
It's an amazing building. To think it's in Beijing, even more so!
Epic! This is the opposite of virtual reality, it’s reality simulating a virtual world.
Another spectacular Wowhaus by the Zaha Hadid Architects. RIP to Zaha Hadid
What a beauty. RIP Zaha Hadid
Wow, beautiful and very unique airport!
Definitely not your typical airport.stunning
Fantastic beautiful marvellous structure and it's creativity.
It's completely AMAZING, miss so much Zaha 👼🏼 Congratulations for everybody that make possible this dream!!👩🏽🚀
Zaha Hadid a master of her skill. To admire this architectural art is love with passion.
Beautiful. Thanks for this!
Zaha, was taken from us way too soon, but she left make with most amazing architecture
THE MEDUSA !!! AWESOME!!
ZAHA HADID, and now ZHA Continuing the the legacy
wow isso que é arquitetura!
Stunning architecture made in China 😮 kudos and respects to all the people behind this masterpiece
How does the interior get cleaned?
Thank you
The ONE thing that jumps out after seeing ALL the flowing lines....are the escalator exteriors that maintain the traditional angles reflecting function....why not flow...sweep up...level out and flow? Missed solution!
Stunning!
Amazing amazing, I had the chance to visit this airport and my eyes couldnt believe what I was looking! Amazing thanks Zaha
When the architecture meets poetry! She was the best and she will be it forever.
Looks like a sci-fi. Quite inspiring. What's the music? Like that too.
Just outstanding. Goose pimples. What a legacy. Thank you.
Absolutely Amazing 💚
Anyone who disliked this video probably had their flight canceled
Anyone who dislikes this video is probably sinophobic. Detestation or jealousy, we never know.
😂
Interior Castle you noble white people should have an amazing airport like this!
@@augustinefaithdefender It was designed by a reputable architecture team, but built by who? Are you just a ignorant f**k or just pretending to be ignorant? FYI, I will never casually say a country's building is ugly because it shows bias and narrow mindedness. Don't be a pathetic human being~
They probably think it’s too large for connecting flights 😂
ESTO ME DA ALTAS GANAS DE ESTUDIAR ARQUITECTURAA!!!!
I have never seen an airport of this size and luxury before.
It’s so beautiful to see that her legacy continues with these unmistakable designs.
Hadid was exceptional. As is Nouvel. Inspiring indeed
I love the outside.
The inside has it's moments, but is underwhelming for the most part.
which one is the largest?
a . Istanbul Grand Airport
b. Beijing New Airport
Beijing airport: please aliens, for the last time this is NOT your base on the earth. Go to Area 51, spells A R E A…
lol
Beautiful hall. The columns look similar to the columns in the Mumbai airport.
Similar feel, less art inside. We can expect many Chinese tourists to travel from this airport.
Rest In Peace Zaha ❤️
can someone tell me the title of the background music? it's so cool
A work of art!
Spektakuläres Gebäude, großartiges Design, sehr starker Entwurf, stimmige Materialwahl.
Trotzdem schwingt bei mir etwas Unbehagen mit.
What is the music?
The great Zaha Hadid! An architect ahead of her time.
Beautiful....👍
Beautiful ❤️ I liked
Zaha Hadid ideal and design was awesome 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
A very talented team x
what's the music entitled ?
Stunning. To say the least.
Airport itself looks like a luxury aircraft business class
every single scene can be an excellent wallpaper
Marvellous projects like this make me feel proud to be human being
Amazing Zaha Hadid 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Beautiful
A legacy left by one of the greatest architects of this time. RIP Zaha Hadid 😢
Like being inside beautiful flowers.
INCREIBLE
Boi, heating and cooling that things must be expensive.
GUESSING USING MY ARCHITECTURAL KNOWLEDGE:
I think you woud be surprised
Comparitivelty its design will make it easy to cool especially, tall spaces, all the panelling being segmented, means they can easily manage to cool it especially with the high level glass and windows. Zaha loved moving roof windows and it will also be part of he fire compliance
Heating again is another challenge. But given how many people will be in the space it will only be a late night early morning issue
I learned from the news that the glass are special one that can let light in and keep 30% heat out.
It’s a smart building supposed to be environmentally friendly
The amount of glass used, especially in the roof, would severly increase the cooling expenses during the summer. add in the huge amount of travelling people every day which also produce a lot of heat and you have a cooling nightmare. Then again this is clearly a prestige project and the amount of light does really add to the spacious feel of the relatively low building (in relation to its width).
Zaha hadid (rest in peace) was known for her prestigious architecture not for sustainable architecture.
You worry too much. No matter how expensive it is, we can afford it...
Beijing's new Daxing International Airport is the largest airport in the world. This is Daxing City.
@@unauthorizeduser7596 The terminal building (Beijing Daxing) is the largest single-structure airport terminal in the world, with an area of more than 1,000,000 m2 (11,000,000 sq ft).
There is no such a city called Daxing, Daxing is a district of Beijing.
What a work of art
Wow 🌠
In additional to the magnificent architecture look, this is an extremely functional green airport, a few things pull memory, the no single identical transparent ceiling let in natural light reduce energy consumption, the starfish shape ensures 10 min from center to reach any gate, rain water is collected for reuse, entire building sits on damping columns to isolate vibration from metro underneath, four gardens, Huawei 5G network, facial recognition for identification, ticketing & security, robotic valet parking speeds up check in and not (not tip accepted), 20 km near by highway surface heated to prevent snow ice in winter, this is a certified green building…..and I want to fly to Beijing just to experience this airport. Look forward to the completion of new Xian Culture Centre, a silk belt shape ZH team new landmark carry her signature shape.
Grande Zaha Hadid!!!!!!
Good angle and good design as always!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
Why are you crying idiot
zaha hadid from iraq ❤
all love from Baghdad ❤ 🇮🇶
Such a huge building can only be completed in time by China.
Wow!
And they’re on developing country status that’s a bit of a joke.
And it is a beautiful airport well done.
Impressive!!
Is that German airport done yet?
erm, no...
It says Beijing in the title

Parece una ciudad extraterrestre. Les juro que pensé q era una animación computarizada. Que locura.
What a clearly healthy air this country has.
Nobody:
Zaha Hadid: Look at this spaceship
Nice Job!
Parts seem a bit dark, perhaps there are lights that will turn on once it is fully operational. It is amazing though.
The lights are supposed to be individually climate-controlled.
I suppose this video is a CG
May Allah bless her 💓
Astonishing, Breakthru inDesign..a true inspiration..Zaha Hadid.
