      Too many people in that office. Zaha told her close friend Steven Holl that she would like to go away with a small group of assistants to concentrate on what really interested her. Holl believed that having hundreds of employees was a major stressor for Zaha and may have contributed to her early death in 2016.

    This stuff looks absolutely amazing. It’s been five years now since this video came out and the stuff looks still extremely groundbreaking. Truly goes to show really that although we’ve got a lot of interesting designs coming out these days, a lot of the great designs never make it to the construction phase and just get lost in the infinite web. There’s probably been far more designs come up with now then there will be in the future that make it to the final product. It’s a dead shame, but also shows great opportunity to rediscover designs that were previously thought to be impractical or impossible that are now most definitely possible thanks to improvements in technology.

    i am an architecture student from Brick school of architecture, pune, india and i am into the 3d renderings and visualization from a lot of years as it really fascinates me and keeps me going, hence running a newly formed visualization firm "after vision studio" for achieveing the same.
    i just came across your videos on youtube and i was just speachless and kept on watching them over and over again.. they were just so outstanding i was exactly what i wanted to achieve...
    i do really want to completly align my focus towards this visualization industry but at the same time i keep listieng to signs from people that this field wont pay well or dont concentrate here architectural designg is what you should foucs on.. i am really concered about the same if i choose this path would i end up well? can i be as successfull as your postion in industry it would be really helpfull to hear few of your words on this about how this industry is doing and will it pay well..
    thanks you!

    • @mikenegueuz
      @mikenegueuz 8 лет назад +2

      Zaha Hadid was a starchitecture, even tho she was great, amazingly talented, like Le Corbusier in term of her inovative vision, but Le Corbusier or Frank Lloyd Wright were fantastic, I dont think its comparable. They had a potential, and they exploited this potential to its fullest, and I think, their epoch helped. With Zaha she defenitly had a considerable packge of potential, abilities, but I think fame, arrogance and lack of terrain to express her creativity without any limits limited her. Plus her last project was a disaster in term of mass opinion, that might have killled her. V sad

    • @colorfullconcerto
      @colorfullconcerto 8 лет назад

      mikenegueuz ditto. Also, she was a star in making architecture as art statements and totally revolutionary in shape exploration & technology, but I think she lacked the push and urge to make all her designs eco-friendly; nurturing community and society with buildings (not the other way around) and more. . .humane (placing humans as subjects and not objects /accessories to the building). She was a star in modern architecture: yes. But was she as revolutionary and game-changing in architecture as Frank Lloyd Wright and others were? no.
      P.S. This is personal preference, but I find BIG somehow more phenomenal than ZHA in this point of view: the environment and community is the focal point, therefore architects design with both art & function for society and Earth, not just art itself.

    • @darlingtonakogo6245
      @darlingtonakogo6245 7 лет назад

      mikenegueuz Wrong, her works were/are really abstract and surreal in both form and function, compared to that, Frank's works are normcore, but then again Architecture from early 1900s hardly would innovative compared to contemporary innovative works.

      Zara's early work was phenomenal. When she finally built the fire station at Vitra her big phase began. No more just paper architecture. At some point however Zaha was not really able to maintain creative control of the entirety of her offices. She had hundreds of employees and many of those hot shots were eager to work their way to the top of the pecking order. You can bet that with Zaha's death in 2016 there are now factions competing with each other. Who exactly is in charge now?

    Architects universally strive for the perfectly simple solution. Often, the answer is in the details, so it's not uncommon to watch them design a whole property and house, yet end up concerned with built-in cabinetry, and even the contents of the units. F.L. Wright was quirky, wanting to control the light fixtures, which were inseparable from the house, the carpets and counters and finishes everywhere.
    Hadia A. is doing the same thing, but on a mega scale. From beginning to end, complete control.
    Whether they foster rich clients or not, if their work is sustainable is all that matters. Is it?

    La arquitectura de Zaha Hadid,procedente de la corriente del deconstructivismo, es decir romper paradigmas,sin lugar a duda son proyectos ambiciosos,requieren de suficiente energía para su elaboración,sus representaciones geométricas,curvas,movimiento,ritmo,luces,gran masa, es una visión del futuro la cual discrepo,debido a que la arquitectura va mucho mas allá que estos conceptos,no se trata de solo generar grandes envolturas,jugar con las escalas,generar hitos,sino de proponer nuevos métodos constructivos,si tan solo desmontamos la gran masa de las propuestas volumétricas que dan la sensación de pesadez y lo convertimos en elementos más livianos y con materiales propios de cada lugar, fomentando así los conceptos sostenibles y eficientes,sin lugar a duda sería un éxito a nivel mundial.

    Architecture for people with money. These buildings are for corporate and institutional clients. // TBH, I much prefer Zaha's earliest buildings, before her office adopted an aesthetic that is unbuildable without computer modeling and attendant construction technology. The drive for constant innovation stated by Zaha's office personnel becomes a never-ending search for novelty that does not fully evaluate the experience of the building as a phenomenological entity. Steven Holl has commented on this. His office creates buildings that consider not the interesting free-form geometries as the design's driving force, but more importantly what the building offers in the way of creating special spaces for people to experience. // It will be interesting to see who emerges as the new figurehead after Zaha's death in 2016.

      STFU you Islamic assholes. You don't give women equal rights and now you shamelessly want to attribute her success to your fucked up country?

      Abdelhadi FIZAZI have you ever walk in to The Innovative Tower in Hongkong? Or Dongdaemon Design Plaza in Seoul? You will be surprised in a good way, how the buildings communicating with you & with its circumstances very organic almost like nature. For your own sake please don't believe me, just prove it by yourself.

    When Picasso left there was a huge catalogue. Are her people assessing Cairo and sea level rise? The people of the Pyramids (I believe to actually be Alexander's libraries) seemingly feel left behind.

      When people attack Chinese efforts they might just be wrong. It's possible that the Chinese arrive to teach & assist locals on what could be and how to go about doing it. People used to complain about Dubai exploitations . . . but 'now' we see that those "exploited(s)" are now part of their own country's dream proposals.

    The 'computer' made this practice. I remember regularly passing her Clerkenwell office door in the mid 1980s, solitary, locked shut with no commissions. And look at what has been achieved.
