- Plant-filled terraces, a translucent roof and palatial columns adorn the Xi'an International Football Centre stadium that Zaha Hadid Architects is developing for central China.
Set to be built in the Fengdong business district of Xi'an, one of China's oldest cities, the stadium will contain 60,000 seats and become a venue for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Once complete, Xi'an International Football Centre will incorporate a mix of public dining and entertainment facilities and also be used to host other national, international and domestic league games, alongside training academies, performances and cultural events.
Zaha Hadid Architects described this as a "legacy mode of operations" that will ensure the stadium can continue to serve the city long after the 2023 tournament.

Breath-taking design, great footage, worst possible music 😂
Could lose the awful HGTV music...
Yeah exactly I am quite surprised they went with ‘wo-oh wo-oh oh-wow-wow 🎶’ to describe this project 😂
Looks like a country wants to host a FIFA world cup 🤔
They probably tried to bid at 2034
I´d rather not see China hosting anything at all.
It's actually for the coming Asian Cup 2023 in China.
@I'm INDIOT prefer my home country to treat everyone fairly.
@@revolvency i thought indonesia, australia is going to bid?
Wow! I love this stadium.
With architecture anything is possible
Wow,this is in my city~Which is famous as ancient capital of china(长安),so i can see some chinese ancient building styles in it,a good design.
Stunning...
Japan, they didnt get a this awosome gorgeous design by Zaha Hadid.... if they were build it, that could last piece of everlast elegance feature of Zaha hadid... i feel so sad when i see now tokyo stadium.
لوحة فنية غاية في الجمال.
Assalamualaikum wr wb.to mr zaha.its incredbles.to descrabs.a building its wonderfull good job.
Dia seorang wanita...sudah meninggal dunia 2016.
Eu quero novo estádio do Benfica . Perfeito ❤❤❤😁
Very innovate design and friendly with the environment! 👍👍
Frame drop?
Got it. Zaha Hadid Green.
traditional and modern like BCIA T3
Simply awesome! Thanks for this video!
How ??? I want to make
looks awesome
自分は今でも東京オリンピック会場はZAHA案が最高だと思っている(最初のやつ)
金はかかるけどね
What is this music though
Very Nice.
Ngl but that stadium is class
This design kinda similar to the New National stadium in tokyo🤔🤔🤔
awesome
Nice
GREAT
❤️
Most of Zaha Hadid's architectural works are in China
maybe still keep working in the heaven
Decent.
🇧🇩
0:44 love the resemblance of a Chinese temple!
traditional and modern like BCIA T3
I can see it was inspired by Chinese imperial palaces. It's fine.
NO That's not zaha lines💔
Yeah, looks pretty tame for ZHA. The design probably got toned down a lot by the city. It still looks good though.
I think I disagree. Look at the Olympic swimming pool in London
Whatever happened to simple buildings!!!!
sktchup+Rhino+Lumion+PR+PS= video
UE heavyweight.....
FOOTBALL IS GROWING IN CHINA ⚽️💪❤️
i love what zaha hadid does they are brilliant, though when it comes to their stadium designs i wish they would put as much effort into making the inside of the stadium as impressive as the outer shell is. most of their stadium designs its like they just design a world class futuristic outer shell and copy some 1950 basic design of the inner stadium design and past it there, row basic and boring the stands and the pitch have no innovation.
Well it’s a stadium, they need to fill as much people as possible. It leaves little to no margin for even the slightest improvement.
Ema well I never said it was a UFO, I just said it’s ugly, and making something look appealing and to show creativeness have nothing to do with reducing the capacity🤷🏾♂️. One can look at the designs of the 2022 Qatar World Cup stadiums and see beauty in the inside and still none of them are 5000 seaters are they 🌝
It's Not Zaha style, Zaha will be piss when she see this design.
Shes dead like since 2016
Someone, a no one, should tell to all the audience that follow this and other famous channels like this one (very beautiful channels indeed), a truth.
Dear architects or architectural students from the west of the world, China, today, is still a repressive regime, as well as the others, such as Iran, North Korea, Syria or ex regimes like Iraq and Libya, CCCP.
The fact that an international firm, like ZHA, has moved the most of their interests in that country, where political oppositors disappear in the fog or go to jail for life with a hour trial (not counting the 10.000 executions per year) should not sound like a great thing but you make it sound like a victory for the architecture. It can't be.
Educated people cannot sustain a fact like this and the Chinese government does not deserve our intellectual work.
Your colleagues in Hong Kong are fighting against the repression that China has planned in their city and for sure they don't give a darn about a new stadium that is just a social "green washing", so that the Chinese government can appear as an open country to the world (waiting for the world cup).
I understand that the position of the channels are neutral and that this news meet their interest in having a large audience but you architects, you should be critical about the difference between firms that refuse to work for regimes and others that make billions with them.
Pick a side, cause, at the same time, it means to be with your colleagues that march on the street for freedom of speech or with a political class that want to keep the power at any cost, silencing people with violence.
ZHA is famous to never be ashamed of their decisions, like when madame Zaha said that the abnormal number of dead workers, on her football stadium working site, was not her problem at all. Very "human", very Zaha Hadid behavior.
North Korea and CCCP is good
Proof that Zaha is not from this world
@Blessed Abraham More like an alien who descended from a different planet and landed in Iraq. ; )
Zaha Hadid had never designed this stadium. She stopped to spend her entire work day in the studio many years ago.
Patrick Schumacher is the real genius in that firm. Without him the firm would still be as it was in the late nineties.
Why do you think zh made him his first associate and boss of the studio?
Zaha Hadid(R:I:P) , trademark. GOOD IDEA. WHY NO : LE COURBOSIER, Louis KANH, Bruneleski, etc.
I bet it’ll never get built
Hmm, like in Tokyo, right?
Chinese are generally not against foreign architects. Plus there have been a few Zaha's projects built in China so I don't see why
yes like the theatre in GZ,
workmanship is poor as fuck
@@europeyeah8596 Well building doubly-curved panels while making them weather-proof is a bit tricky
@@europeyeah8596 Yes that was really poor construction. But construction technology has improved a lot in China. You can check out the latest Zaha project in China, theatres in Changsha, which has way better finishing quality
No more Zaha hadid architects
Topp Top top top top toppp top toppp
Looks great on the outside, not so good on the inside. Doesn’t look like a good boxes, lazy design on the stands.
Will they be providing free facemasks?
Whatbout corona
Tell me if I'm wrong. But isn't the majority of chinese living in a very small income so they wouldn't be able to typically afford to go see a game or show. The stadium is huge, when it would be 15% capacity most games..
They just need to learn how to play football now :)
Not so Zaha Hadid at all.
Ikr, i think they were going for something resembling a chinese temple, so the people feel more connected to it
It’s a soccer stadium not a football stadium
that's football to the rest of the world minus US
Great design but this poxy virus has made travel plans impossible for quite a while.
The design is awful. Sorry but this type of Parametrisism should be a thing of the past. It's a waste of resources.
And the music, please get rid of it.
Zha knows just parametric architecture. They are incapable of real, space architecture.
Is much easier to work with a software that can give you 1000 different solutions in a day.
It's their signature.
Read AD "Parametricism 2.0" by Patrick Schumacher. It's their dogma.
@@giuseppenativo2123 I have that issue. I work with algorithm in a precise manner. Despite if such solutions are topologically optimal I prefer to design a stadium that looks like a stadium instead of a Play Station 5 or a router. Architecture of futurism is simply a temporary caricature of the ages. There is a significant difference between parametricism and formal parametric architecture.
@@kummer45 I totally agree with your statement and I strongly believe that a formal way, hypothetically a 'futuristic way' (I call it the 'modern modern' architecture) to shape an architecture is just the quickest and easiest method to relate your knowledge with your ideas.
Architecture is always a complex process and it cannot be reduced, time after time, to the perfect occasion for showing how original is your interpretation of the program. This is a product design mentality.
Look at the Kengo Kuma stadium in Tokio. It's simple, traditionalist and beautiful at the same time. It will become a 'classic' in its genre.
Happy to find someone else that feels to be critical about this manner to design the space.
@@giuseppenativo2123 You mentioned Kengo Kuma? Do you?
*Bows* to one of the best Parametric Architect ever existed. That firm inspires respect and dedication. Shigeru Ban's Paris Concert Hall is another exquisite example of formal parametric architecture and program complexity. Kengo and Ban serves architecture to the building program.
@@kummer45 I love the work of Kuma and Ban. The Swatch Omega HQ is a masterpiece with its parametric gridshell at a giant scale.
It has a smaller carbon footprint respect a generic 'London style' building and you can tell how the space is caged in a giant shell.
Those are my masters, today.
