Mr Gupta , just a correction . Mr Mahaveer Tyagi was not an opposition M.P. He was a cabinet minister in Nehru cabinet from 1953 - 57 ( Minister of defence organization) and again in 1964 Minister for rehabilitation. In his book Azadi ka Andolan, Haste hue aansu he has very vividly discribed the incidence of exchange of arguments regarding Aksai chin with Mr Nehru.

Well, Tibet was independent, Congress helped CCP to take control of Tibet, China assured Nehru don't worry about borders our claims are just maps by nationalist govt and were drawn in 1930s. There was no conflict till Tibet existed as buffer state. Yes you are right, India is too poor and weak to take back what China has already seized in 1962 war or Pakistan has seized in 1948 war. Not many people know that even Pakistan captured some of the Indian territory in 1971 war in Kashmir and Indira Gandhi let them keep it. Anyways. Now China and Pakistan demand Indian territory, we don't demand their territory. India is struggling to keep whatever we have for the last 75 years due to the revisionist totalitarian China and Islamic state of Pakistan want to add more and more land to their territories. @@chandu25abc20

Very informative episode. British ruled India by a policy of “divide & rule”. Before leaving, they ensured that this policy of division continues between the two nations who share common history and culture. We, the residents of India and Pakistan foolishly followed this trap and viewed each other as an enemy and poisoned our people against each other. It is high time that we consider taking a regional approach to our common issues and resolve them by embracing our common identity and making the region borderless in terms trade, tourism, economy and possibly currency too. If we move in that direction most of the discussion will no more be relevant.

Shekhar, you should have explained that Gilgit was never under the Dogra King's control, it was ruled by the British as Gilgit Agency because of British Russophobia to protect its colony from Russia since the 19th century, before Kashmir kingdom was created.
It was only transferred to Hari Singh on 3rd June, 1947, and as you mentioned controlled by army units led by British.
The Scottish chief of Gilgit Scouts, one William Brown, decided that the Muslim population of Gilgit don't want to join India when he learnt that Maharaja Hari Singh has signed the Instrument of Accession on 26th October, 1947 and arrested the King's army chief there, Ghansar Singh on 1st November, 1947 and made the region a part of Pakistan. Brown served the Pakistani military till 1959 and was awarded posthumously by the Pakistani government.
It is truthful to treat Gilgit-Baltistan as different from Jammu and Kashmir and it is sad that Indian writers never let us know it, calling it all as Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
This is not to say that India has no claim there, but leaving out important details totally like that makes me unhappy.

This being said remember guys we tribal ppl take pride for being pathan and no need to know history but we are same race called Afgan. We are by far full proud Afghan of course after Islam. Which is why we don’t fight against pakistani brothers. But if we are being pushed too far we know how to defend ourselves. Our demand from pakistan 🇵🇰
    1. Free Imran Khan
    2. Kpk under PTI (Ali Amin Gandapur as governor or Sher Afzal Marwat)
    3. Free FATA back to its original state as Imran khan planed to do so.
    4. No fence border with Afghanistan
    5. Our own language as the official languages in KPK no more urdu…
If pakistan does follow demands from these lists things not easy for Pakistan inshallah our protests will continue then our demands by majority is..
    1. Will fight until Free Kpk/Balochistan back to Afghanistan or let us decide our own..
    2. Free Azad Kashmir and back to its motherland the rightful owner 🇮🇳

"Both Governments agree that the respective Heads will meet again at a mutually convenient time in the future and that, in the meanwhile, the representatives of the two sides will meet to discuss further the modalities and arrangements for the establishment of durable peace and normalization of relations, including the questions of repatriation of prisoners of war and civilians' internees, a final settlement of Jammu and Kashmir and the resumption of diplomatic relations".........

x country occupied countries A,B,C and few areas of D which is under sezurinity of Y, now when x left, A,B and C joined to form a single country and retained the parts of D in it. All the border issue between India-China is related to that few areas belonging to D which were taken by x, when Y was having internal issues. Remember, Indias so called claims on Aksai Chin starts from 1800's only with the entry of British in South Asia. Its unnecessary to be belligerant with China, what ever India already got in Kashmir or Ladakh is a bonus already. Resolving the border amicably by accepting the current one would be the saner decision on India's part, anything else is just greediness.

Thanks for LP Sen's book recommendation, Shekhar. Will check it out. BUT, one thing I had read that is I believe VERY inaccurate is your position on Gilgit Balitstan (GB). I believe I read in a book extract that Mountbatten had "ended the agreement" 15 days ahead of independence - on August 1!! So this means, it was HIS ploy to deliberately hand it over when the Maharaja was hardly ready to defend all portions of his kingdom and send people everywhere! Troops may have revolted, but the Political Agent - who was British - in GB did too! And imprisoned the governor! Again, THEY wanted "independence" not merger with Pakistan at that point - something which the British did NOT give as one of the choices to all 565 Princely States! NO ruler was given right to independence - per the terms of partition and transfer of power among the 565 (+ less than 20 I think from Pakistan) princely states: they had to join one of the 2 dominions! PLEASE note, the Maharaja signed a "Standstill agreement" with Pakistan (hence he was 'hinting' that it was a 'different country'!) He DID NOT sign one with India - before 15 August ot before October 1947 even!

In 1947 our political leadership lacked strong will power. THE BRITISH ARMY CHIEF COULD have been overruled/bypassed to achieve important political objectives. Pak army chief was also British but it bypassed him to send irregular into Kashmir.
Left to nehru, he would not have sent indian army into Kashmir.
The best thing would have been for ndhru to call next rung of our army leadership for advice and set political objectives in front of them and discussed its feasibility.
Dir of ops would have given unbiased advice.
It was indeed nehru's failure and incompetence.
In 1962 war he appointed a supply core General Kaul to fight in NEFA. Sheer foolishness!!!

India’s fantasy of invading remainder of the old J&K is possibly feasible in the coming years. Pakistan’s army which has lost all support of its citizens, would love for India to start the adventure soon . In Pakistan, all will be forgotten and the people will rally behind the unpopular generals. There is no other scenario that is better for the army brass. I am surprised that they haven’t taken a “ punga” themselves. They must love Amit Shah for his pronouncements.

Assume you had a kingdom. You lost a major part of it to your enemies and you came running to me to annex whatever is remaining to save your ass. What did I really get? Whatever remained & not the entire Kingdom. I need to go & fight to conquer the region again which I could not in the past nor can I in the present or in the future.
