I loved when he said "Relax. It's just cooking!".
I loved watching him do that but I'm 89 years old and I could never put all those things together I do it very simple with just the drain water from the tuna and mayo fresh onion celery if I have it and sweet pickle relish by that time I'm really tired standing so mine is just a quick one but I would like to eat his recipe. So thank you for the video and I'll be looking for you again.🤩🤩
I wonder if you could find a tall chair that would put you at counter height so you could sit while preparing and cooking your meals?
As a tuna lover never been more excited to watch a video
This reminds me of when I was a kid, growing up on my Grandmother's farm in the 70's before my family moved to Hawaii. My Grandmother who was a child during the great depression was VERY FRUGAL, they grew and ate EVERYTHING, nothing went to waste, every food item then bought was "day old", etc. in an effort to save a penny or two because of their upbringing, plus being Russian immigrants, they know what going without was like. ANYWAYS, when my grandmother made Tuna Salad, she put literally anything she could find in there to stretch that small can of tuna out. She put tomato, onion, celery, carrots, walnuts, cheese cubes, anything she could find to stretch that can out. She could make 12 sandwiches with one small can of tune, no joke... Thanks for sharing Chef JP, I always make your recipes, and my family always love them!!!
😅
You have to love the enthusiasm and passion of Chef Jean Pierre. The recipes are just a bonus.
Just found his channel and I do love it. He’s awesome
I love tuna salad and stuff a tomato or halved avocado with tuna salad all the time. I've never thought of adding fennel, so I'm going to try it. I use cornichons instead of capers. For me, a tuna melt with sharp cheddar on thick cut toasted sourdough is one of the best sandwiches ever. God bless you Chef, you are my favorite RUclips chef.
Is everybody watching all the way to the end?
I love it when a chef is happy with his own preparation! How many of us can relate to that!?
“Just relax. It’s cooking”! Thanks Chef.
My mother used to make tuna salad like this. She would put it in the tomato, top it with parmigiano and broil it. Wonderful lunch time fare!!
Seriously, I can't find any other channel better than this. Same kitchen, same outfit but endless beautiful recipes. Extra credit for no fancy zooming shots. Just stay calm and let people see what the chef is cooking. No retake on chef's "oh I forget the pepper."
Keep it up guys. Love your channel so much.
The cameraman needs a raise! He's so awesome. The videos are sooooo entertaining with JUST chef, but the cameraman adds little funny cartoons, etc (but not too much) makes them even better. BEST CHANNEL ON RUclips ❤
Couldn't have said it better myself.😊
And… the person on the camera stays UP WITH the Chef!
Did Jack pay you to write this
👍👍👍👍
I crack up when the Chef taste his creation then twirls his fingers and makes noises. ! lol
You got it man. You can't beat Jersey produce. Why do you think we are called the Garden State. It's almost the end of February and I am dying waiting for all those summer goodies. All summer long and into the fall I survive off of Jersey farm fresh goodness. I live a few miles from an old family farm and they are my joy.
Tuna melts are one of my favorite sandwiches. I used chopped water chestnuts instead of celery. Great crunch
Oh that's an interesting idea with water chestnuts. I love those. I might have to give that a try. Thanks!
Great suggestion. Water chestnuts are also amazing in crab au gratin, which l learned from a local restaurant.
Great idea. Thank you.
I like to use a fresh or frozen (thawed) tuna fillet. Per pound the price is close to the same.
Poach it in a flavorful liquid and let it sit overnight in the liquid. Everything else is the same.
Ooh! Great ideas, everyone!
This recipe was very easy, and delicious. For the excess salad, I cut a thick piece of sourdough bread, spread garlic butter on it and toasted it in a frying pan. I spread the salad on the bread and enjoyed it just as much. Thanks for the hint Chef. This recipe was incredible.
I love how butter is not called for in this episode, and yet, there is a big bowl of butter prominently displayed in the front at all times. My favorite chef in the whole world! Thank you Chef JP and Jack for a fantastic video every week!
P.S. Thank you for the video after the video lol
That's the emotional support butter, it's always around!
@@joebykaeby Yep. lol
Chef JP eating his creations is absolutely wonderful. Life goals! 🥰
I'm pretty sure when he makes it for himself he spreads butter on the top!😂
Chef Jean Pierre DOES like his butter! Mostly clarified! LOL
I just made this Tuna salad. I have never in my life tasted Tuna salad this good. I can't stop eating it!
Thank you so much for teaching me this recipe Chef! 😁
Awesome 👏
Lol
This man is so genuine!
No fuss!
Relax, good cooking!
I make tuna and chicken salad for my wife all the time. When I brought yours out to her tray table in the living room, her eyes lit up and as she ate it she told me it was the best I ever made. I told her to thank you, Chef, and she said "it figures, I thought you might have had help"
😂well, "help" being a relative term here, my dear!
If I may ask, what is the technique for eating it?
Best chef on youtube by far, Chef Jean-Pierre never makes a bad video or bad recipe .
Chef, Chef, Chef. This is one of your masterpieces. I have a different formula. Two tablespoons of Helman's and one of pickle relish. What makes this video outstanding is watching you enjoy making this tuna salad. You're the best!!!!!!!!
I agree with you completely!!! For me, it just isn't real tuna salad without the taste of sweet pickle in it! Helman's mayo (known as Best Foods here in the West) is the only brand I use.👍 I also use a little of the pickle juice in my dressing as well.
Bubbies pickle relish 🥳
Capers🥰
Chef Sauce..!!😋
I like baby carrots chopped shallots & celery 🥲
Dill Yes …!!!.
Seeded Corn Rye …Yummy
It’s not tuna salad for me unless it has mayonnaise, of course and sweet pickle relish, celery and red onion.
guacamole! Capers replace the pickle relish in this case :) im a relish lover but will try this variation!!
Agreed! Adding some pickles makes prefect salad
This is by far the best tuna salad recipe I have seen. Can’t wait to make it! 😊
Agreed! Already planning this recipe for dinner tomorrow!!
Wow, this is an awesome way to have Tuna salad, Chef Jean-Pierre you are most likely one of our great cooks in the world.
Chef I made two dinners for my aunt and uncle this weekend. The first was the chicken scallopini with the lemon caper sauce and the arugula. The second was the bacon and onion quiche I added mushrooms and spinach and both were massive hits. Although I wasn’t super happy about the chicken as far as consistency. The first three chicken breast were perfectly golden but I think the mistake I made was not cleaning the pan after the first batch because the Panko on the fourth and fifth pieces and I’ve been like a little bit burnt. And even though they cooked fine and tasted great they weren’t golden like the first ones. The quiche I was told was the best they ever had. I was very happy and wanted to thank you for the guidance and inspiration.

I live in Jersey, born and raised and yes, our tomatos are delicious! 🙌❤. So is our corn! Jersey girls rock too 🤩
Lisa, I too was born and grew up in NJ. I wrote my post before seeing yours. 🥰
Chef, you crack us up! We love just how much you get into and enjoy your food creations. You have propelled my cooking to a higher level and my family really appreciates it too! Bless you. J
Chef you are the very best. I usually make my tuna salad with tomato and add onion and celery and a little sweet relish. However yours looks amazing and I cannot wait to try it. God bless you.
Little things like this is what makes you a Master Chef and I respect you ❤️!
I've always said a recipe is a great starting point and you can always tailor it to exactly what you like. Great job chef keep up the good work.
That's for sure, good point.
When did you say that? I've never heard you say that.
Hi Chef Jean-Pierre,
I made this recipe today and it was outstanding! It was so delicious!
Thank you for all that you do.
Jack did a great job in sending a man to the moon! A great chuckle there!! I really enjoyed this dish. Thank you so much for taking the time to make a simple dish with all the "fixin's".
I grew up in NJ and you are so right about their tomatoes... the corn there is great too!!
Jean-Pierre, j’adore tes recettes et ton sens d’humour…très divertissant. Merci aussi pour les bonnes idées ❤
Merci Karen 🙏😊👍❤️
I live in Arkansas and we have great tomatoes. Those look like they were picked a little green then ripened on the shelf. The best tasting are the ones that ripen on the vine then picked. Local farmers will have those. Love your videos my friend!
First, you go to Bradley County in June...then, you Go Hogs. Right?
Most people have to buy them in a store. We get ours off the vine or from a local farmer.
I'm from New Jersey and there is nothing quite like Jersey tomatoes in the summer. Farms and roadside stands sell them. Also, when I was growing up, you always had the older Italian men who grew them right in their back yard gardens!
@@retroguy9494 I agree. I grew up in New Jersey when it was really the Garden State. I moved to Florida over 50 years ago. Chef is right, NJ has better tomatoes than Florida, but we have better taxes.😁
@@ronhansen7717 You're right on BOTH counts! LOL
I think it's sad that people see shows like The Sopranos and think Hudson and Essex counties, and Port Newark is all there is to New Jersey. No one seems to know about all the farms and that we are one of the largest producers of cranberries in the country. Jersey corn is awesome in summer too! I had an uncle who used to grow it on his property. I remember it was SO delicious!
I love the ending lol “don’t tell nobody!” Chomp! 😂
Another great video Chef!
And my mom just asked me of I wanted some fresh tomatoes - perfect timing, Chef! Hear, hear 🙂
Looks light, yummy and AhMayZing! Thank you, Chef!
Even though the tuna & tomatoes r drained; the dressing takes over. I might not even need a glass of water(so good).
There’s something very cute about a French Chef with a “God Bless America” sign in his kitchen.
👍👍👍❤️
YESSSS! I’ve been waiting for your tuna (and egg 🤞) salad recipes forever! Glad one of my requests have gone through! Love you, Chef!
I never liked tuna. But my husband loves it. He was talking wistfully about eating tuna salad when he was young, and I decided to make some for him. I made it using this recipe and I had a sandwich for my supper, and later had a little bit on a cracker for a snack. It is truly delicious! I NEVER thought I'd say that about something made with tuna! My husband was VERY impressed with this. I didn't stuff tomatoes with it but I may try that next. Great recipe and I love your channel. You've really helped me improve my cooking, and you make learning new recipes so much fun! Fan for life!
Okay, made another batch and made it in the tomatoes and WOW! The tomato adds a wonderful flavor to the salad. 10/10 highly recommend. Thank you for converting this tuna hater!
That looks super tasty. My mom used to do something similar but with a roasted bell pepper instead of tomato. I can't wait to try this with fennel and dill, I've never put that in tuna salad before.
Chef Jean-Pierre is great and very entertaining.😊
Love your twist on everything you prepare can’t wait to make this. You are amazing!
I’m liking this chef a lot. In two videos I already learned a lot of things I was doing wrong.
Just made this using parsley instead of fennel and dill. Absolutely beautiful.
Try Water cress. If u are rich. Healthiest Green. Spendy and org.hard to find.
@stormyweather8798 : Buy a bunch of watercress, keep in a jar of water till.roots develop. Plant in wide pot I rich soil, water regularly. Watercress for ever.
You are absolutely delightful to watch. Wish we were your invited guests to enjoy your wonderful sense of humor and fantastic recipes.
I love tuna salad, so definitely excited to see your take on it! Literally, I'll sometimes make tuna salad, grab a sleeve of Ritz crackers and a spoon, and dinner's made.
It would be good on Club crackers too!
… and a thin slice of cheese. Maybe break out the propane torch.
ME too. I'd toast an English muffin put some tuna salad on it then melt a piece of cheese on it in the oven. Then add a little Tabasco sauce when finished. Now I'm hungry
Thank you. Good bless the whole world. Tschau Amigo.
This type of salad is one of those things that get better when you rest it in a fridge for a few hours at least, the flavors combine together and the sauce takes on all the juices from vegetables. The tuna will also absorb some of the sauce so you may want to save some extra sauce too if the salad is too dry when serving. Great recipe as always :) personally I like a little bit of lemon or lime zest in there too.
It's better cold also IMO, like Egg salad, so much better cold.
I've never cooked with fennel yet. I keep seeing it in the supermarket and always wonder what I could use it for, but then I come home and forget all about it. This is it, I finally know what I can use it in. Thank you for showing us how to chop it too 👍 Looking forward to making this beautiful salad!
Lately, if we're not having Irish prime rib (boiled potato), we're eating tuna. We'll be trying Chef's tuna salad recipe soon!
I love your “God Bless America” sign along with your talents and you! 💕🇺🇸
🙏🙏🙏❤️
Don't feel bad, I have put things in other people's cart more than once. I have also taken someone else's cart. It happens. Lol. Thanks, Chef, for this recipe. Can't wait to try it.
Chef Jean-Pierre : I would liked you know all your hard work is greatly appreciated. I thoroughly enjoy your channel.
TBH I only trust Chef Jean-Pierre for any recipe I want to cook. He LOVES food, he honors food. That is why I trust him. Plus I learn new things about various ingredients and their history, best cooking channel and my favorite.
🙏🙏🙏❤️
This is beautiful. Imagine opening your fridge early one morning and finding one of those tuna-crammed tomatoes. To me, it would be like a dream. Three guesses what I'm making tonight.
Nice, moist, delicious and pretty (when in the tomatoe) ….. we also eat with our eyes 😊 Thank-you Chef another great recipe which I will definitely try.
Again another amazing recipe! Wow
My Portuguese/Italian mother in-law used to make tuna stuffed tomatoes during the summer when ever went went over to her home for a summer time BBQ they were fantastic. Don't know what she used in the Recipe other than the tuna and the mayo but they were fantastic. She grew her own beef steak tomatoes 😊 Thank you for this recipe Chef another fantastic summer time recipe 😊reci
Love this! Came upon this channel by chance. Oh how he is just so refreshing! “Relax it’s just cooking!” Absolutely love that frame of mind from chefs! Some chefs approach cooking like an Olympic sport and take it MUCH TOO SERIOUSLY! It’s just cooking! Love him!
Love it chef Jean Pierre!
The ending was hysterical and the little "hat" on the tomato with tuna salad is too cute. Great presentation.
I use celery root instead of fennel. Other than that I make it just like you. Looks lovely in tomatoes. Thank You Chef Jean-Pierre!
I have found that with any Tuna Salad or Chicken Salad mixture, the overall flavor “blooms” and improves with at least 6-8 hours of refrigeration.
Always enjoy your videos Chef 👨🍳
I NEVER thought of combining the flavors of such 'with' toms (tomatoes). You seem down-to-earth, never afraid to 'comment' about something. I love it. Have a pleasant day/evening.
Tuna fish. Mix mayonnaise, celery seed, capers, some caper juice, lemon. Let the flavors meld for half hour. Then mix in his tuna. Eat with lettuce and tomato on sourdough toast.
your recipe like mine! but I add the relish and dill.
Nope. I am not a fan of capers at all. I skip them every time.
I had just made tuna salad when I came accross this video. I watched it and then I added some of your ingredients to my salad. Wow. Made a good difference in the taste. Thank you
I was a cook in a small luncheon restaurant and a woman came in and asked for a Tuna salad....I thought What ??? So i stuffed a tomato with tuna fish with a bit of celery and sweet pickle . Placed it on a bed of letuce and used a potato peeler and shaved a cucumber. On top of the tomato was a devil egg . The woman was totally thrilled with it because she thought she was just getting tuna salad sandwich 🥪 . Unbeknownst to me she was the owners best friend. I end up with a $ 20.00 tip plus the owner hired me for 7 days a week with a $1500.00 salary a week ...she loved my homemade meatballs too ❤😂
It’s a blessing being a good cook. It’s a wonderful feeling to make good food that people really enjoy.
@@tommackay7433 Yes its just like giving a gift , it makes your heart feel good . thank you

That’s awesome.
wow, that must've been one awesome tuna salad!
You inspire me! I’d like to roast the tuna mixture inside a red bell pepper so it’s nice and soft and warm.
Great presentation!!!
Recipe tips are awesome!!
I Love You Chef Jean-Pierre for your cooking. You will be changing my life and allowing me to have Flavor and Quality. Thank You from the bottom of my Heart! You are a Treasure!
I didn't have fennel so I finely chopped a dill pickle. gives a nice sweet-sour crunch. Another great easy -to-follow recipe! Thanks JP!
As usual, true artistry! I prefer tuna salad on bread with a sliced tomato and a little oil and red wine vinegar...just personal preference.
I love hearing chef does his own grocery shopping for his recipes and to top if off he has the same problems as regular people doing their every day shopping as well. I felt that tomato story 💯. ❤ That truly brought a smile to my face.
My favorite chef right behind Jaques Pepin ❤❤❤
Legally, 'vine ripened' doesn't mean 'turned ripe while still on the vine.' It means 'not ripened using ethylene gas.' This piece of regülatör nonsense totally deserves to be mocked by chefs.
One time I went to a restaurant and they served swordfish over a tuna salad made with corn and something like thousand island dressing. It was very interesting with the dryness of the swordfish and the fattiness of the tuna salad, texture of the corn. I liked it.
A delightfully ,delicious, delectable, dish, that will surely make your mouth water. The idea of coring out a whole vine ripened tomato is fantastic. There is no doubt in my mind that having a pan of these on display, where people can see them. They will go very fast. Three thumbs up!
This is the perfect way to eat the yummy tomato’s from our garden! Thank you Chef!!
Love what you do Chef!! Thank you!! 😎👍
I made a tuna sandwich for my boyfriend I chopped up celery and tomato, mixed up a little mayonnaise put it between two pieces of bread. He loved it!
i always look forward to Chef JP reaction to the inside of a tomato it is so funny we need a compilation
Chef Jean-Pierre, you really are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for this lesson. Tuna and chicken salad are such wonderful additions to the summer table. Thank you.
This looks interesting, especially because he's using my favorite hot sauce of all time. I've been in love with it for 30 years. I put that s on everything lol, but never thought of it for tuna salad. I have a bowl in the fridge with elbow noodles right now. At lunchtime I'm going to try it
Which brand hot sauce is that? I didn't recognize the bottle. I have some favorites but always looking for new ones to try.
@@valvenator Louisiana brand. At every store I've ever bought some, it's always on the top shelf
@@lisapop5219 Thanks! I had a small bottle ages ago but haven't seen it since.
It's cayenne pepper based, correct? It only mentions pepper in the ingredient list, but not the type.
@valvenator I'm not sure of the type of pepper. I love it because it has a strong vinegary flavor too so its tangier than others I've tried
Enjoying some tuna salad right now! Great video, great personality!
Tomato stuffed with chicken salad with a pinch of curry yum!
Yes, I think I'll try this with chicken salad minus the curry.
I’ve made tuna salad all kinds of ways and never could make it where I was satisfied with the end results. It was always just okay. This it’s really, really good and is just another reason I will keep following you.
Mom just added mayo and some diced pickles, celery, and a little lemon juice. Worked well back in the 70s. Chef really goes over the top with all these ingredients.
amen
Stick to your mom's recipe. Idk what he's doing 🤮 as a chef, I don't approve.
Have you tried the recipe here and compared it to your mothers recipe? Hers might be simpler and delicious, but if you want to put in the effort then why not?
What’s playing on your beta max right now?
@@Ohmymikeandike you should ask the chef in this video since his recipe screams 1982 with that garbage recipe (17 ingredients WTAF?!?) & horrific tomato presentation.
Chef Jean Pierre, your videos are always such a joy to watch! Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and expertise with us. 😊
looks delicious ❤❤❤ love your recipes and your humour side
I made this today and serendipity I choose your recipe out of all the recipe on RUclips it is the best I have ever had in my 70 years. LOVE YOU CHEF!
I love this recipe. Can’t wait to try it. I wish I could taste it right now!!! Thank you for sharing your creativity.
Always a pleasure to see you Gayle, send my regards to Steve!!! 😊
@@ChefJeanPierre And the Salad idea brings Me back to my childhood.
I love it! What I really love is to have a Iist of ingredients shown, & then each one flashed on the screen again as the ingredient is being prepared. I'm 75 yrs. old & I don't always hear, or understand the spoken words❤Thanks😊
That looks DELICIOUS as always my friend❤ I actually put pickle relish in my tuna salad… but I’m gonna try yours with fresh dill! Love you chef ✌️😘
Just watched a real, honest to God chef, make tuna salad... And from a can no less!
This man appeals to the masses, because he cooks for the masses... what makes him great, is that he cooks food that normal people would cook at home. Not like the majority of RUclips "chefs".
I hate tuna salad... But I'd eat this just on principle. 😂
Love chef Pierre but I hate capers. I make my tuna salad w chopped apple.
My favorite unusual ingredients to add to tuna salad are diced radishes and prepared horseradish. Yummers
As a Canadian I gotta shout out tuna melts. So good, and so classic. I'm really surprised Chef didn't put lemon juice and lemon zest in his. I always do in mine.
Tuna melts the best! Topped w sliced banana peppers.
Love his quick quips!!❤
I love tuna salad so I had to watch this one, but turns out this might be one of the few of my favorite Chef's recipes I'd have to heavily alter. I'll definitely try adding sour cream and yogurt but I guess I'm just not a fan of such a chunky tuna salad (or dill or fennel or capers). Little bits of onion/shallot and celery is about as much crunch as I'll go for. Definitely want to try it in a tomato though. And I like the idea of adding hot sauce. Sometimes I like to mix plain tuna and hot sauce to eat on crackers.
The solid packed tuna is a better cut from the fish. I use a fork to mash it to my desired consistency. Chef's Bumble Bee brand is farm raised but Chicken of the Sea is wild caught, which I prefer. Same cost. I add chopped pimento olives and onions for flavor. Ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice and Worcester makes a good seafood cocktail sauce that gives me the flavor profile I prefer. I find that mayo is the only fat needed, so no sour cream or yogurt.
Awesome and keto friendly! LOW CARB!!!!!!!!!!! PERFECT!
What a lovely and fun recipe! The fennel is a nice surprise. I’m gonna make this but it will probably be gone before it makes it into a tomato. 😂❤
Such a great chef, so humorous and such a great teacher. Learned a lot from just this video! Thanks chef’
🙏❤️
Great recipe Chef (minus the almonds for me 😊) I’ll substitute bacon for the almonds! I love all your content! Keep going!
I wouldn't use the almonds either. I have severe stomach issues so I would leave out the almonds, hot sauce, garlic and fennel.
I use walnuts
Tuna salad is such a great staple, you can always have a can of tuna in the pantry and everyone has most of the condiments at hand and in 5 minutes you have such a versatile protein…on a bed of Boston bib lettuce, toast, a melt, in a tomato, by itself..etc.. I like to add some fresh minced chives ,parsley and dill and teaspoon of sweet pickle relish. Thank you Chef for always showing how to elevate the mundane into something elegant.
