The culmination of another triathlon season is in the books as we both crossed the finish line at Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta. While Cait and Tif experienced different days on the race course, it was another reminder, that despite the challenges thrown at us by the sport we love, there is so much good to embrace in the sport of triathlon and because of the sport of triathlon.
We recap the day, the memories, experiences and find another WHY for what keeps us coming back - in good times and bad.
Thank you for following our 2023 season...more to come!

Welcome to the RUclips home of Team Saunders Tri - Cait & Tif
Caitlin began her triathlon career in 2012 on a fat tire bike and no swim background. She met Tiffany when she was training for Ironman Texas 2013. Accompanying Tif through most of the training (minus most of the swimming), and serving as a finish line catcher volunteer, catching Tif at the end of her first Ironman, it didn't take long for the triathlon bug to bite. She completed her first full Ironman in 2015 and added another in 2017 - crossing the finish line both times hand-in-hand with the love of her life.
Tiffany's triathlon life started in 2009 with The Rookie Tri at the Texas Ski Ranch. From the time she crossed the finish line, she was hooked. Since then, she has added 3 full Ironmans to her resume' (Texas 2013, 2015, 2017). But it's the 70.3 distance that has been her favorite calling. Since her first Ironman 70.3 in Galveston in 2010, Tiffany has crossed the Half Ironman finish line more than 15 times, including two Ironman 70.3 World Championship appearances - with Caitlin - in South Africa, 2018, and St. George, Utah, 2021.
Team Saunders is documenting the journey of training, life and taking on new challenges along the way. A pair of Age Group triathletes, they hope to motivate and inspire others to find their own challenges.

I love you two for what you do and those you impact. Parting with your medal is selfish-less, loving, and the best promotion of triathlon.

Thank you, @willietatum5116 - this sport has given us so much and we love sharing, meeting others and embracing more than just the swim-bike-run aspects of the triathlon lifestyle.

The both of you are amazing people. for you to take the time to have such an impact on Payton and our whole family before the race at the ironman village and also right after the race as well just goes to show the depth of who you both are. Your message, gesture of kindness with giving the medal to Payton and hugs were amazing. Caitlin, my brief conversation with you right before the swim was priceless and for you to immediately remember the interaction you had with Payton and my family a couple days prior just warmed my heart. We feel like we have known you both forever and hope to see you both during the 24' season :). GO TEAM SAUNDERS!!

Jeff, thank you so much for the kind words and taking time to comment here. After our races we always discuss our favorite parts of the race & race week experience. Meeting your family was easily a top highlight! We believe what we do is more than the videos we share, but being able to exchange well wishes with other athletes and meet the next generation of triathletes is a blessing to us. Congratulations on YOUR race and that big PR! Hopefully we will cross paths again and we are honored for all the support and encouragement! #RaceMighty

Man I wish I could have been there, but not this year. I won't miss that swim, 2022 was "memorable" for that cold water. OMG I love that you gave her your medal.... they are a nice memento, but it's about the journey, and you get that. Be thankful for every race, good or bad.

What is it with our Canadian friends finding this water cold? 😉 It felt great this year. As we always say, grateful to do this sport regardless of the results. There are so many good memories we make and life lessons we pick up along the way and that is priceless!

You should do the 70.3 at Morro Bay in May. The water is cold but feels good in the bay, the bike course is very fair and can be fast with great scenery. The run course is croweded with spectators on the Embarcadero and was a thrill to be there,.

Honestly, we haven’t stopped laughing since 2022 😂. And there were multiple occasions during race week when people approached us and reminded us of that debacle from last year. But sweet redemption in 2023!

Appreciate all your support, @amyfriesland723 - it truly means a lot. And while we never want to have the “bad” experiences to share, we believe it’s important to show the reality as best we can. 🧡💚🧡
