Ironman 70.3 Ohio: Official Race Recap
First standard Triathlon this weekend. Really thrilled and kinda freaked out also. Then 70.3 on march 2nd. Very useful tips thanks. 🎉🎉
I'm excited for you! I had the same nerves for my first races. Try to enjoy the experience as much as you can!
@@colinlord thanks man.
Don't leave your water bottles in the car, instead of on the bike in transition. At least it was an Olympic distance, not longer. 🙄
Oof. That’s a lesson learned the hard way! Tif did something similar at 70.3 Augusta…now guess who triple checks bike bottles before every race? Thanks for sharing your experience - and tip!
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
Awesome! Glad it helped. Ride On! 👍🏾
Another great video from Team Saunders Tri! Great tips to follow. Glad you pointing out the value of rest and recovery, so easy to overtrain and set yourself back.
More tips to come! Any special requests? You’re so right about rest…we all want to crush every workout but it’s impossible if you’re constantly buried from all the training. Balance is key!
70.3 Pennsylvania.. Anyone from TST interested?
Cool! @colinlord has expressed interest in running through Beaver Stadium. We’re still strategizing our 2025 schedule, so we’ll definitely scope this one out!
@ road trip convoy and RUclips collabs! And Penn State!
@RobHale81 - Make it The Swamp and U of Florida and it would be a done deal. 😉
Texas 70.3!
Heck yeah! You’re gonna crush it. Galveston is one of the great places to race, too. All the best!
6. Shave your legs! 😂 🫠
Pro Tip!
Always the week of race day.. Cant turn down free speed.
Hoping to tackle 70.3 Michigan after a stress fracture disallowed me from starting last year!
You’re gonna get it! Can’t wait to see you reach that finish line on race day!
Thank you! Training for Utah, Saint George!!
Woohoo! Epic course, and the last rendition of it. Soak it all in and enjoy the journey!
Great tips! Training for Cotswold 113 70.3 and Ironman Weymouth 70.3 this year, both UK races.
Awesome! We love our friends across the pond. Two great races for you on the schedule - all the best in your training. Thanks for the comment.
Nice introduction, thanks for sharing this story!
Thanks for checking it out! It’s fun to chat with others and get their perspectives on the sport.
Great race Colin! I raced this year as well and you nailed every part of the course description (and damn how the headwind managed to follow everywhere!!). GL in the 40-44 AG and 2025 goals!
Seriously. That headwind was following the course along with us! Hope you had a great race as well…and all the best in 2025!
Headwinds are evil! Congrats to you on the day and thanks for taking time to comment!
I’m curious how you fit that haircut inside of a helmet
Hi, do you have any vibrations in the stroke with your setup ? thkns for sharing
Hello! It’s mostly smooth. Compared to our old Kickr Snap, especially. We can’t speak to this compared to higher end trainers, but it’s been good and solid for us over a year now. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Your 30s were so impressive! Can’t wait to see what you do in your 40s! Ya’ll are a great team-all 4 of you-and I love how you encourage and support each other. ❤
It’s been a blessing to all share this journey and build a special friendship. The triathlons are great, but all the other moments are a big reason we enjoy it all!
I'm finally exercising every day...just like you always wanted when I was a kid, Mom!
Congrats on a great race Colin. On course video by Katy was awesome! Looking forward to following you in ‘25.
Katy is the real MVP!
Thanks, friend! Hope we end up crossing paths at a race next season.
@ me too.
9:10 love y’all 🧡💚❤️
Friends. Forever. 🧡
Cheers to 40!! 85 was a good year
A great year indeed (+Caitlin)…are you one of us 85 alumni?
@ yes I am. Hearing all the pre-40 talk echos loudly for me as well. Good luck with your seasons and keep up the content.
Welcome to the new age group. All the best to you as well. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
@@BabaDeyTri Age is just a number!
That dude is vicious!
Honestly, I love the hub. However, I had to go to the mechanics to unscrew the cap as it was stupidly tight and impossible to do with common hex keys. I was sent an extra zwift click as the previous one kept on disconnecting from my samsung tablet. At the moment it works perfectly but I am disappointed they discontinued it.
Hopefully it’ll give you years of reliability and enjoyment! Thanks for watching and taking time to share your experience.
@TeamSaundersTri exactly. Wahoo has sued Zwift for infringement of their copyrights when they made the hub so that later development of a wahoo kickr zwift hub might have been the agreement between the parties.
Well done
Thank you for watching!
Great recap, ladies and congratulations on a helluva strong year!!!
Thank you! It’s been a year to remember for sure. Grateful you’ve been a part of our journey. All the best to you in the new year!
Banger of a video
Appreciate the comment! We try to bring a nice value to our corner of the triathlon content world. Thank you for watching.
Amazing video, OMG the stress of the bike, I can only imagine, congratulations to you both...
Thank you! We’ve learned to be agile when it comes to triathlon. Not how we wanted it to all unfold, but we’ve got lots of stories now.
keep killing it !!! Y’all are amazing :)
We appreciate you, Matt! Lucky to do what we love. What’s on tap for you in the new year?
@ lucky for us all is right !! I am doing Ironman Portugal only. Will be tough as my businesses will require no days off work but I made promise to my mom we would go back to the homeland this year so it will be a must !
Oh wow! That sounds epic. All the best in your training.
@@TeamSaundersTri likewise!!!
Congratulations on another World Championship! 🧡💚
Thanks, friend. Go get yours! 🇪🇸
You hear that a long in Championship races, lots of athletes with similar abilities all end up drafting. The pros cant do it, but somehow the age groupers get away with it. The ones with integrity get impacted more.. Great job finishing. It was great tracking you! We'll have to meet up in 2025, maybe for the Austin Half Marathon?
You’re very right. That seems to be the trend. Unfortunately. But we will always uphold our values of sportsmanship. Thanks for following. We certainly felt the vibes! Let’s plan on 2025. Not sure what’s on tap just yet, but we’ll be around.
Awesome vibes 👌
Appreciate it! We try to keep it fun as best we can.
Merry Christmas ladies, awesome job and looking forward to the recap
Merry Christmas, friend! It’s Santa cap swim season now. We look forward to sharing the full recap next week.

@ congrats to both.

😎
Oh wow - this is the delay you talked about. Stressful! Great to see you this morning at practice swim
Good times, friend! Glad you were part of this weekend with us!
Geez rather watch paint dry than this.
0:13 thanks to both the Saunders and TSA for leaving the Seminole sticker on the case 😆❤
It won’t be the same when you get it back 👀
Long journey to get here but so worth it. It was wonderful to meet you both today at the Ironman “store”. Hopefully you found everything you wanted and more. Thanks for the Team Saunders shirt! I will wear it with pride and hopefully it brings me good luck for Saturday. Cheers!
Lovely to meet you and congratulations! So proud to have you repping our shirt!
It wouldn’t be an epic adventure without a few obstacles to overcome. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey.
Just a few obstacles! The theme of our year. Thanks for following!
Both of y’all deserve everything coming to you. Have an amazing trip and race! Can’t wait to follow along next weekend. ❤
Love you, Colin. 🧡💚
Looking forward to tracking you both on race day. Have a great race and enjoy your big day! Thanks for the great video's.

Thank you so much!
I am so proud of you both. Challenges come but you guys have love for each other and love of triathlon. You guys are going to have amazing races. I am excited to track both of you. Have a safe trip and enjoy this you both deserve it and earned it.
Thanks, friend. We are grateful for all that we are fortunate to experience together and always appreciate the love and cheers!
Nice video, thanks, but a bit misleading. I think at the beginning you say in the world and it’s pretty much all USA with just honorable mentions of South Africa and Finland. Also funny that most of the races, especially at the beginning were full of bad roads and too many turns. I understand those were the top 10 that you’ve done. Fair. My favorite of the ones you mentioned and among my all time favorites was St George. I have a few more that maybe I can recommend if I see you in Taupo. I’ll look for you 😊
We love recommendations and hope some day we have the ability to travel to more international races. Sad to see St. George is gone after 2025. Please say hi in Taupō!
@@TeamSaundersTri Hi! Hum... well, to be honest of all the ones you listed I have only done St. George (definitely one of my favourites), so you maybe those are better than the ones I've done and certainly appreciate those are the best your've done. Just thought it a bit funny that you mentioned some "not great" aspects some of them, especially I remember the first two where you mentioned bad roads and bad place to swim. Anyways for international 70.3 races I would say Valencia was spectacular, although being the first time last year, there were some organizational aspects that needed to be ironed out. Puerto Rico was super hot and humid, but a good challenge. Campeche was pretty nice, starting the swim in the middle of the day meant doing the run when it starts to cool down a bit, so that was nice. And the finish line downtown is great. Victoria is a bit too far from town and the traffic to get there in the morning is challenging and so is parking, but the race is beautiful. The run in a flat and not too challenging trail through the forest around the lake is stunning, and shaded! I've done a couple of fulls in Sweden and Spain also amazing, but those don't count in the 70.3 ranking. Would be great to compare notes and share experiences in Taupo. I will look for you and definitely say hi if I see you.
@JuanMartinez-pj7ju - Excellent insight! Puerto Rico could be on the short list soon… but let us all enjoy the beauty here in Taupō 🤗 Hope to see you around.
