My brother Jose died at the age of 24 a month or so before his 25th bday. He was a lovely character who constantly went out with friends, got wasted and was just known by many to know how to have a good time. During his time in the hospital hundreds of friends visited him to the point where the hospitals floor was completely full. On the day of his unexpected funeral the crowd seemed to multiply beyond belief, Many people remember him as someone full of life, anytime I hear this song I can’t help but think of him, he might’ve been “crushing up” and “drunk as fuck”but damn I just hope his last few hours as a man with life where lived to the absolute extreme. I only smoke or drink on occasion never to the extent that he did. I know this is a lot of yapping, but if you take anything away from this is to live life to the fullest but also
Be careful bc you never know when you’ll go from having a good time drinking, smoking etc to your life being completely over in a matter of seconds. Have fun, drink do drugs and enjoy your adolescence but also don’t take it too far and remember who you are.

In my experience (I’m 32) people who didn’t experiment with drugs or partying in adolescence bc of their parents or whatever usually end up trying drugs at some point. Usually in adult hood. When you’re no longer surrounded by people paid to give a shit about you (high school) and when trying drugs can have a much nastier impact.
I’d rather realize what I wanna do in adolescence and figure things out from there , than not try anything than go into adult hood with no experience in life. How can you than relate to your peers without the same experiences ? And I’m not talking about peer pressure I’m just saying in general you’ll be less mature. Not just trying drugs but life experiences in general ; drugs are a huge part of the human experience unfortunately.

I was in a car crash. It was a regular day you know ? It was this level of trust for everything I'm blessed to have lost. Cause my life was going shitty and I feel like I needed that wake up call. Just crazy you can go from driving to flipping over trying to miss a side by side. We flipped I don't even know how many times. The crash report said there was a fire and a minor explosion. We went flying through the air and hit a utility pole and cracked that mofo. Then we from there flew up hill and somehow landed in a field after we cleared a hill and broke a nice fence. I opened my eyes and I had my seatbelt on so I think it saved me. My buddy was slumped in my lap and we were both messed up. I was spraying blood out of my face and nose when I breathed. I had to take my shirt off and make a tourniquet to stop my newly smashed arm at the wrist from bleeding so much. I was filled with window glass and I sucked some up my nose in the crash. Long story short we were both ok. And we still keep in touch we just stay around cause of shit like kid cudi. Just when you drive drunk kids remember even if you are a passenger and you are sober, buzzed driving is indeed drunk driving. Was the driver legal ? Yeah. Was the driver the driver ? Bet your asses. So be safe. Please don't kill other people or yourself cause you don't care to just do your thing. One day it will come for you 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤we both learned that day that we could have been dead. I'm just glad he's still my friend and I'm still his.

This song for me brings out the feeling of being able to have everything, all the people surrounding you.. but you still feel so alone and empty. I’ve struggled with depression and I feel like this song embodies it perfectly. Being able to be happy while you’re distracted and then coming to the realization you are still very sad. You can do what you want, you can be “fine” once you get it, (alcohol drugs girls) but honestly we all have a void that needs to be filled and those things can’t satisfy. Truly only Jesus can. Being famous for some individuals is probably one of the most isolating experiences. To be constantly looked at as if you’re not human but like an idol who doesn’t have problems and you have tons of people saying they know or relate to you but you truly don’t actually have a Connection with any of them. Idk to me it would all make me happy for a short while then I’d go back to being very depressed and overwhelmed. But that’s just me some people handle it well and love it.

Back in the days everything was just about skating, drinking beers and cheap rum, smoking some bad weed and have fun with the hommies, now they are all in different places i dont know if they even recognize me now, we always listened to this song at every moment we could, now i listen it and reminds me to those times, im bout to turn 24, i've been struggling with a major depressive disorder since i was 18, bout a month ago the person i thought who was gonna spend her life with me, left for things that i cannot control, i've been really deep down since, but also i remember all the difficult shit i pass trough growing up in a country like Nicaragua, im still here, listening to that same song with a little smile on my face, cus despite everything all that bad shits that happens to you, theres still hope when u realize life is to short to just complain every day, i started to do some exercizes, walk every day, drink some water, eat some fruits. hug your mom, hug your dog, hug yourself, and even if i dont know u at all, i love u, everything shall pass

I have so many memories of parties in my 20s being near wasted and this song hit so hard. A decade and change later and it still brings back all those sense memories. The scene in the end looking at the mirror is so accurate to that kind of feeling. Things were really rough then and I was homeless and couch surfing. I wish I could go back and whisper to myself that I would eventually find that happiness and stability 😊 Good vibes.

To me the main theme in his music is coping with the fact that he is alone. Growing up in small town MN being the only black kid in town you really lose sense of self identity. And when we moved to a more urban area I quickly found out that I just as removed from the black community as I was from white people. Although Kid Cudi's life is and was completely different from mine I was able to find a bit of comfort knowing that I am not the only person dealing with being a Martian among men.

This song gave me a feeling like, someone was telling me “hey I know you’re feeling sad, and I think we both know this isn’t gonna work out, but I just want you to know this is gonna get better and you’ll be ok” It always made me cry but feel happy at the same time listening to this song. Feeling empty a lot, running towards anything to make you feel excited or more accomplished, drive that empty feeling away. I come from Syria and witnessed 3 years of war there, then moved to Sweden, the place I call home because I absolutely love it there but I've been living the worst 6 years of my life in Germany now, after my Family forced me to move here from Sweden, the country I fell in love with. Here I've been severely heartbroken multiple of times, got depression, anxiety and became a big time introvert with no friends. I hated the past 6 years I hate the person I've become.. Now I've graduated Highschool and I'm moving back to Sweden to pursuit my happiness. The only thing that kept me alive was music, and especially Kid Cudi, he saved me and my life. For that I'm always gonna be thankful to Cudders. I love you man, your music is my therapy & you are my savior.

Came back with something called "treatment resistant depression" & after years on multiple antidepressants & calling VA suicide line several times a year, mushrooms were a gift from God. I understand what you're going through.
