It seems to me that doing scenes like this would be an excellent way for beginners to practice and sharpen their skills. Doing the clouds and lightning employ all the basic elements of airbrushing in a cohesive exercise.
I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it again; It doesn't matter if you have the most expensive, best engineered, airbrush in the world, you don't achieve these results without having the skills, and more importantly the soul, of an artist! Much respect! :)
You also got to have, and this is a must... a good imagination and and open mind. What looks like a mistake to me maybe looks like a perfect piece to you.
I’d just like to say, you do a very nice job with your videos! Very easy to see whats going on, really informative and not a bunch of BS goofing off. And your art work is also very nice. So thank you
As always, another incredible video and artwork. Something I would really enjoy would be a short video, maybe 10 minutes or so, where you would show us some of your most favorite pieces of art from over the years and some stories about them. Maybe where your inspiration came from, where you were in your abilities (skill etc) at the time, what you like most about how it turned out etc. That would be both interesting and inspirational!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it and yes by all means give it a go, feel free to tag me on Instagram @airbrush_asylum so I can see your completed painting 😉👍🏻
Very impressive job, you have just answered my question about the paint job on a Harley I own. Has exactly the same design and I wondered how it was done. Am I the only one who can see a skull hidden in there. Lovely work.
The first time I ever used an air brush was in high school I painted a monster energy logo and it looked so cool and felt so magical to use an air brush I was hooked and bought my own Iwata set and I haven’t really used it in years but I’d love to lean how to really use it and get good with it to make some masterpieces of my own
As a storm chaser and lightning researcher it's a pretty good example! More compact for the strokes here but like you said...it's all for learning how to do it and top job mate.
Absolutely amazing, the lightning is very realistic and 3D. It is has similarities to the day clouds, but then it all changed. Thank You for the tutorial.
Thank you for the awesome tutorials! Definitely a huge help since I have gotten back into the art after 15 years since i sprayed last. Much appreciated dude!👍
Awesome videos that you are producing. I bought a Metal Flake Super Brush in 1979 to do murals on my Chevy Van but there was only books on airbrushing available at that time. I have never used the airbrush but your videos have inspired me to start trying it. Thanks for the great videos.
I’ve watched a few videos already just discovered you channel. I have to say you do amazing work, and are really helpful with the tips! I’m just getting into airbrush I’ve drawn with pencil, color pencils, and also learned to paint cars. This is something new to me I’m trying to learn to add to my skill set especially in the bodyshop area. Many thanks for the videos I need to get a fine detail airbrush since the one I have now is to cover big areas and not fine detail 😅
Aye man my airbrush showed up today, just a little portable banger to see if I like it, figure it'll be good for shading with a second colour if I upgrade. Thanks for the video's, quit drinking a couple weeks back and was looking for a distraction when you popped up.
Hey your work is so beautiful. I've seen a few episodes and I'm just blown away with the details and everything. Really enjoy watching you airbrush art work
Bonjour superbe travail et c'est cool de nous indiquer les couleurs que vous utilisé je débute dans l'aérographe et c'est compliqué pour moi car je suis daltonien .
OMG You are amazing. I need to, some how, change my perspective here, just not yet certain as to how I might go about that? I say this because as I watched you the entire time, while creating our Clouds and Lightening, I wasn't able to see it until we were almost 10 minutes into your video here? I believe that this perception will be critical to my progress within Airbrushing. Any hints or ideas that anyone would like to share with me? I will appreciate anything that anyone has to offer me! Thanks to all...
Very nice. Considering I'm yet to put paint into my airbrush, I'm a long way from producing stuff like this. Do you have a video that talks about when to use primers?
I've just started air brushing....as I've now got far to much spare time atm.. your art work is fantastic!!! I hope with enough practice I'd be half as good as you are! Keep up the good work.
Beautiful work. I have a model 1/350 scale battleship. I wanted to try your storm. But with a twist....a tornado dropping down out of the clouds over the ocean as a background for my model. Have you ever done a tornado?
excellent video always amazing work! You've helped me alot with my own artwork as well! I would love to see a video on tattered wings for a grim reaper or something like that!
I like the video of this artwork but... I would not have blackened the clouds so much. I think it was spot on prior to the blackening. Then again if you truly think about it, Art is in the eyes of the artist. Thanks for the video though! Gave me positive ideas for the bookshelves I am painting for my dragons.
I don't know why but up until @11:30, it was perfect. I mean the outcome is still amazing but till then it was just picture perfect black & white image
Many thanks glad you enjoyed the video and yes, maybe a more photorealistic version in the future on some synthetic paper so that it can be achieved by using other paint manipulation techniques 👍🏻🙏🏻
Your work is so great . Love your videos. They help me lots as I am just getting into airbrushing . One thing I find hard is using white . I got the airbrush white paint and still find it hard to use . Do I need to reduce it by 30% for a could flow? I have 4 airbrushes and a compressor. I like to do liquid pours and use the airbrush to do the work after . Doing galaxys and weather but when the white doesn't work good makes it hard . Any suggestions?
Very nice! I think I can see at least two faces/skulls in the artwork. Once small one in the middle and a larger one toward the bottom. :o) I'm learning to wait to the end before I form an opinion. Sometimes I think "oh no... that won't work" and by the time your done all I have is WOW
Hey mate. I was planning to do this on a bmx frame. Could I clear powder coat over it after and bake or will it affect the paint?. Awesome vid by the way.
I've noticed after giving the final highlights to the clouds, it made the portrait in whole look a little cartoonish? Do you think adding more grey might help it look realistic again?
Thanks for your comment the glove is only to keep the surface clean as I like to clearcoat these panels once complete so therefore it prevents any contaminants getting onto the surface 👍🏻🙏🏻
It’s a large conventional noisy compressor which I run in my studio in a semi sound proof box . You can see the setup and type of compressor by watching this video - ruclips.net/video/Tf0wGOlZY5E/видео.html thanks again for your comment 👍🏻

Hola saludos mi nombre es Javier. Soy de Venezuela. He visto como ilustra con el aerografo y me gustaría afianzar o reforzar mi experiencia con las de usted. Son muy buenas
I have been practicing my cloud work and it always ends up blurry or maybe fuzzy looking. :( I have enjoyed all of your tutorials to date. Thank you for the demos!
Thanks appreciate the comment and maybe use paper templates in order to get a sharper edge and then freehand from there . Appreciate the kind words re my videos glad you found them helpful 👌🏻🙏🏻
Nice video! I wanted to ask about the MAC, the small screw valve under the cup near the tip of the airbrush. Can you control flow gradually or is it simply an air open close valve?
Thanks for your comment and as mentioned by Mike it is only to control the airflow, I do use it to allow for creating fine details ie..I screw the valve in so that only minimal pressure is coming out of the brush and I over thin the paint so that it flows through nicely even at a lower air setting. Remember that adjusting the air flow on the Mac is controlling the air within the front of the brush, it’s not the same as dropping the pressure on your compressor, lowering the pressure dramatically on your compressor would cause your brush to splatter. Hope that helps 👌🏻👍🏻
There is a section of one cloud that looks like it has an eyeball looking out at us, wondering if it was an accident or did I miss it being intentionally added.
It seems to me that doing scenes like this would be an excellent way for beginners to practice and sharpen their skills. Doing the clouds and lightning employ all the basic elements of airbrushing in a cohesive exercise.

what you need is an airbrush and the will to learn, that's all you need
You also got to have, and this is a must... a good imagination and and open mind. What looks like a mistake to me maybe looks like a perfect piece to you.
The fact that you can retrace your lines with such precision is so impressive. Great work on this piece!
Bro I could watch you all day.
I’d just like to say, you do a very nice job with your videos! Very easy to see whats going on, really informative and not a bunch of BS goofing off. And your art work is also very nice. So thank you

Watching this guy makes me feel like I could just pick up an airbrush and follow along lol. It’s like I’m watching the Bob Ross of airbrushing.

Takes lots of practice, you make it look easy, I'm working on getting control of the trigger for now. 👍👍

One word badass!!!

Thank you for the teaching video. Question: What's the benefit of the black glove aside from keeping the paint from your skin?
Thanks for your comment the glove is only to keep the surface clean as I like to clearcoat these panels once complete so therefore it prevents any contaminants getting onto the surface 👍🏻🙏🏻
I really like this alot. I would love to have something like this!.....
Feel free to flick us a email at airbrushasylum@me.com and I can help you from there 👍🏻
WOW!! That's amazing, I'm gou g to try an do that an see how it goes
