Wow this update is kick-ass! I went ahead with the lifetime purchase. I've been using a 3x5 streamdeck. Gonna unplug it and free up a USB port. Gotta say, 64 buttons for $50 is liberating!
I had to pause this video halfway through to purchase the lifestime version. I use the streamdeck for work as a graphic designer, but lugging my XL to and from the office is a pain and takes up space in my backpack. Now I can run my deck and take notes at the same time and it's absolutely the answer I've been looking for. Huge thank you to Elgato but even BIGGER thank you Nutty for showing this!!
I also hate subscription fees, so there being an option to only have to pay once is nice. I personally would like to see you do a video about "things to put on a stream deck". I think it would be fun and you have cool ideas when it comes to things like that.
Looking forward to the android version. I think it is a good option for people who travel and don't want to bring their Stream Deck with them. Use the tablet which you will probably be bringing regardless.
Still hasn't come yet. Got tired of waiting and just got a cheap ipad. Even though I hate Apple......The reviews on the Android version are horrible. So it seems Elgato wants to really support one platform over the other, which is sad....
This is an INSANE game changer for streaming / recording users that don't sit at a PC. I'm thinking like TTRPG games, or even people that do a news deck setting. That's amazing.
Here's my take on the whole Stream Deck vs Touch Portal thing, as a guy who's used TP for years but just switched a week ago: The Stream Deck app and software is 1000x easier to use. If it was a user experience contest, Elgato would win every time with their app. Everything is streamlined. Adding buttons, changing their functions, and even installing plugins. It's all just a couple clicks, and it does exactly what you want with minimum effort. Highly recommend for anyone who just needs a dedicated way to control their stream easily with no thought put into it. Touch Portal on the other hand, DEFINITELY has it's place in the world and shouldn't be discounted. If you're someone who doesn't mind taking the time to tinker and get things right, this should be your choice for COMPLETE control over not just OBS, but your entire PC. Getting the pro license is relatively cheap but worth it because there's an entire dedicated community of passionate people developing plugins for TP. The team behind Touch Portal are still updating it all the time and adding new features. They added sliders not too long ago, and you can probably imagine how that'd be useful on a stream deck. I must reiterate though, there IS a very steep learning curve. If you get all frustrated looking at technical mumbo jumbo, it might not be for you. TLDR: Both are good and have their place, albeit for slightly different audiences.
My only issue with Touch Portal is that their support ACTUALLY blamed me for something their update did. When asked if they were actually stating I went back in time and somehow broke something that was working until they updated and stopped after, they stated Yes. Like... actually stated Yes, I somehow broke something that was obviously not broken and got fixed with their next update. Their "Discord support" can screw right off. Their application is great when it works, but I just feel that Streamdeck is first when it comes to any good plugin any good design. And as Nutty said, TouchPortal definitely has some limitations when it comes to user experience. Lack of ability to just type in and search, lack of ability to force alphabetical order, Twitch constantly needing to be re-keyed, and the prices for things like button colors. For Elgato, It's just a pain to splash out the cash for a system and not have the options to display how many buttons I want, or has physical buttons that might break and acts as a point of failure. So I'll need to consider a lifetime license.. maybe a couple and get one for a friend as well (who I just setup with TouchPortal).
Thanks for this! I own an XL so I just sort of ignored the Mobile update when the (desktop) app showed me the update message, and I mostly ignored it on the basis of the subscription, but the option for a lifetime sub is huge news. I don't think I'll be changing over just because I love the tactile feel of the deck itself, but if I ever happen to get a hand-me-down ipad or the android update goes through when I change phones, I'm a lot more tempted than I was before for having extra secondary keys.
the update is tempting me, but the last time i used it, the connectivity issues with it made me not especially inclined to use it :( hopefully they've fixed that :(
ideas video YES! always great to see the way u (an experienced steamer who makes it his business to be very aware of all tools available to you) organize and optimize your systems. tour of your obs/streamerbot and best practice tips for organizing these would be great too since i'm sure you've had to redo it many times as your systems became larger to keep them sustainable.
I definitely would love to see a "what to put on a stream deck" video. I get overwhelmed by the amount of options available as a beginner user. I know I'm probably scratching the surface of what I could do with one so seeing more ideas would seriously help!
I downloaded the mobile version right when I saw the announcement and have been looking for videos on what to use that would better help my stream, or just be nice to have. A video on some of the better things and plugins to use would be great!
When they get around to Android, this lifetime fee will be for me (though I don't possess freedom dollars, just convict penal colony dollars). It's something that will make my Z Fold phone make even more sense, and will free up a bit of real estate on my desk (which is rapidly filling up with elgato stuff...).
4D chess move from elgato. This cements their place in the market and blows their software competition, like touch portal, out of the water. The competition won't be able to compete and elgato has a physical stream deck with nobs so the physical option still offers something more. The software allows you to have extra real estate for annoying buttons you don't want on your physical deck. Using the app will also make you think of buying a physical deck at some point in the future when it's convenient. Lastly it invites and funnels in newer users into the ecosystem with a free-ish utility that will almost become a staple for any pc because of accessibility, with lack of nursing it, like a subscription. It's something I thought they'd never do but this was a good choice.
Is it worth investing in an iPad to have 128 buttons? Do you think an iPad 9 generation is a good option? Congratulations on the work, I've been following you for many years now
Hey Nutty! I have a two PC set up. I'm trying to find a way to activate my Streaming PC Elgato from my gaming PC Via a hotkey combo on my gaming PC. What options are out there? My ideal world would be able to bind hotkeys to my Xbox Elite2 paddles to control my camera while I game while never taking my hands off the controller.
Its cool, but I kinda been using TouchPortal App to do all of this for a while, If the Plugin settings and app compatibility are better on Elgato's StreamDeck App, I may consider to change
I hate the subscription service they had because I paid for a year and then they were charging me once a month. Also 6 free keys are not available to android
All the changes and additions are super exciting, but there's a part of me that's just glad they finally gave a free version with the 6-key setup. I have an OG StreamDeck but I might still give this a shot for addtional buttons!
I'd love to see a video comparing various options for audio interfaces since the GoXLR is no longer going to be supported... Not that it was really supported before. I have a two PC setup and use an XLR mic. I would also love optical input since that's primarily how I connect my gaming PC to my GoXLR now.
yes i downloaded this and bought the lifetime when I saw your video as I was looking at a stream deck XL. im not a streamer, just want for productivity. you should definitely doa video for things you can put on your stream deck.
Do you need to have a Streamdeck to use the software on your iPAD? If not , I am buying it right away!! I already have an iPad mini and this would be perfect for my recording studio.
Great review. I already have three Stream Decks so was interested in the iPad version which I am currently trialing for a month, before I will then buy a one off lifetime licence. My only comment so far is that it is a great pity that you can only connect via Wi-Fi (on a same network) and not as an alternative to Wi-Fi via USB which Metagrid alows you to connect either by Wi-Fi or USB. Essentially it means that I can't use the iPad version whilst travelling for the lack of USB connection support. Apart from that, very happy ...
Honestly an amazing move by elgato , they should have done it way sooner ! Actually really excited to use this in IRL streams chat pinned on one side, stream deck on the other
I'll be honest, Nutty... when I first saw this I thought you were going to troll us with a 42" refurbed touch screen kiosk, which would have been really funny. Buuuuut I am only *slightly* disappointed that I was wrong. This update is pretty awesome and I am very glad that Elgato have brought such great new features. I am really impressed.
Hey Nutty, I have the Stream Deck and the app. I use the app when I'm on my laptop. Definitely interested in a "more things to do with your Stream Deck video"
Thanks - your video was awesome - and in my case the timing was perfect, because I was thinking about purchasing a stream deck + >> infos about the perfect setup for the stream deck (app) would be really appreciated
I made a GTA wasted scene for my Zoom calls. Using a multi-action to freeze my cam, display Wasted (correct font), and play the GTA sound. Then undo all of them. Added delays and such. This is just one way I do it, but I think you can get really creative with a Stream Deck. I am all for you showing some ideas on the unlimited possibilities of using a Stream Deck. BTW, I don't do the virtual.
Hey. What’s up? Cool, cool. Me too. I have a question: How can I assign a mic effect on/off to a single SD key? I like to do silly voices for fun and I want to have a key that makes the mic sound like someone is next to the couch or in the other room. 😂 Something simple to start is adjusting the volume instantly. I think I’d know how to set it up for a _second_ mic, but for the same mic…struggling, and I need a Stream Deck Shrink!
Android Users getting screwed again. (And I dont mean features, they have said thats "coming") - They should have also released a lifetime payment option as a bare minimum for Android too.
I've been using the SD App for a while I android and besides occasionally having it disconnect it's wonderful. I use a 2 Android tablet set up on a real nice stand. When this launches for Android I'd love to have more ideas for what to put on my streamdeck! Love the videos Nutty, I've used alot of your content over the years and I'll be using alot more one this launches. Tell us more oh wise streaming guru!
Knowing I can pay one price to turn my old phone into a stream deck for my gaming PC while using my physical stream decks to control my streaming PC makes me all sorts of giddy :D
i love the idea of doing a video on what to put on your stream deck... i have "revamped" mine several times and it never seems right to me so i always end up changing it again :( same with my obs and streamer bot... (maybe its me)
Full-size or Mini iPad for this? Also, which one of each to ensure I can still get updates for this app? Would love to spend the US$50 and cancel my sub to save on the cost of a pair of SDXLs.
Using Split View is NOT allowing me to run two instances that are BOTH connected to the same Mac. I can only connect to one instance at a time on my iPad. Can you please clarify how you did that?
This is awesome, now, if they have a button that can open up wavelink with sliders, or other things with sliders. Im saying if they had touch screen sliders that would be unreal amazing
I use touchportal but this would make me switch this + streamer bot is just way better, touchportal killer.. Only would love to see it on android, way to go Elgato!
Another easy add that's missing is a Title on top (sure I could probably just upload a background) so I could differentiate which of my 9 computers I'm trying to control while routing my video through a triple stack of Atem minis... Is there an integration to control a StreamDeck interface with a Companion command, through Satellite for instance?
I just did a big video going through that. But I'm probably doing some massive changes over the next few months, so I'll probably do another video then.
If I buy the app on IOS am I locked to IOS for the app, or is it elgato account based? So later, if they release it on android, I would have to buy it again to use it on my samsung tablets?
i have a ipad pro and it dont find any pc's on the network. The Qr code also just sits there never connects. Any clue to why this is? Yes both are on same network. Both are updated. It just isn't connecting
If I have a multi-computer setup, and one of the computers has a touchscreen, could I use this app on the touchscreen to control all the computers in the setup?
Unless you can open the app on your computer somehow, nope. You can however use SAMMI or Streamer.bot, but both of those tools (Streamer.bot in particular) are wildly different in UX and will take a lot of tinkering to get right. But it's possible! I've done it on my set up.
if i buy it on the iphone, i have to buy it again on ipad, or it shares in both devices.... i asking this because if it can share we can have ipad split and plus the iphone 😀
It's tied to your Apple account so it should work across all your iOS devices (don't quote me on that, I only have one device). You cannot use the same virtual device across multiple phones though, so each phone will act like it's own independent Stream Deck.
I just bought a Stream Deck. The old iOS app was utterly pointless. Now they have a real winner, for $80 AUD. Even cheaper than a Stream Deck, and much more useful.
The amount of time the Elgato stream deck or the virtual stream deck used on a mobile device can save you overall is staggering. If you investigated it in more detail, you would find that the money you pay would be paid many times over in a relatively short period because of time saved executing, work or time additionally enjoyed whilst gaming, because of the ability to program the shortcut keys. Big picture long-term view required.
What does everyone think of the Stream Deck app?
Is this only on apple devices?
@@luckylego3269 the exact same question i would like to ask.
Wow this update is kick-ass! I went ahead with the lifetime purchase. I've been using a 3x5 streamdeck. Gonna unplug it and free up a USB port. Gotta say, 64 buttons for $50 is liberating!
Game changer.
Waiting for the Android version to get update. Ease of use compared to TP is worth the extra bucks spent.
I had to pause this video halfway through to purchase the lifestime version. Now I can run my deck and take notes at the same time and it's absolutely the answer I've been looking for. Huge thank you to Elgato but even BIGGER thank you Nutty for showing this!!
how quick were you able to transfer your layout to the ipad?
I also hate subscription fees, so there being an option to only have to pay once is nice.
I personally would like to see you do a video about "things to put on a stream deck". I think it would be fun and you have cool ideas when it comes to things like that.
Yup, this is my big concern. I would have used it over TouchPortal any day of the week, except... the cost is so much. I'll need to consider it.
YES ! Please make that kind of video.. would be very helpful to me. Still tuning in my set up and any helpful tips and ideas are a big win.
Looking forward to the android version. I think it is a good option for people who travel and don't want to bring their Stream Deck with them. Use the tablet which you will probably be bringing regardless.

I love it, I have 4XLs and can always find uses for more decks. I didn't even know about the multi Mac uses age so thank you.

I really like your humor nice job

Whoa, the split screen reveal was worth the price of admission! Holy shit that's pretty sick!
Only offers a monthly or annual plans for Android users in the USA. No "one time" payment option...
Lol. It's an okay price compared with the monthly subscription fee
I downloaded the mobile version right when I saw the announcement and have been looking for videos on what to use that would better help my stream, or just be nice to have. A video on some of the better things and plugins to use would be great!
That is insane! What a great way to get the stream deck. I was looking to expand from my 15 key. This will fit the bill perfectly.
When they get around to Android, this lifetime fee will be for me (though I don't possess freedom dollars, just convict penal colony dollars). Its cool, but I kinda been using TouchPortal App to do all of this for a while, If the Plugin settings and app compatibility are better on Elgato's StreamDeck App, I may consider to change
Howdy, looks like they now made Stream Deck Mobile work over USB cable, which is brilliant!!

Curious. Are you using AC powered usb hubs? Cause I swear I have tons of trouble having multiple elgato products plugged in
Yes I use a 16 PORT powered USB Hub. Brand isn't important, I'm not even sure what brand mine is.
This is really cool. My iPad pro is going to get even more use out of it now 👍👍
This is super neat! I may have to get the lifetime plan for this! Thanks, nutty!!!!
I'd love to see a video comparing various options for audio interfaces since the GoXLR is no longer going to be supported... Not that it was really supported before.
I have a two PC setup and use an XLR mic. I would also love optical input since that's primarily how I connect my gaming PC to my GoXLR now.
Bro, i have 175 buddons now. Without even changing a screen. 2 iphones a split ipad & 2 32-button XLs, this is INSANE. Thank you!
yes i downloaded this and bought the lifetime when I saw your video as I was looking at a stream deck XL. im not a streamer, just want for productivity. you should definitely doa video for things you can put on your stream deck.
This is huge! Thanks Nutty
Damn nutty got that Batman, didnt know you were chill like that xD
We LOVE THIS! - nice work :)
man i would spend $50 right now and get rid of deckboard but FUCK that ios only shit. the second its available for android consider it done
can't wait to see some freat integrate this idea into his smart home
Do you need to have a Streamdeck to use the software on your iPAD? If not , I am buying it right away!! I already have an iPad mini and this would be perfect for my recording studio.

maybe a ridiculous question, but would this be possible to utilize on a touch screen monitor and what would that look like?
I already have 2 stream decks and was about to buy a third for my Mac photoshop but thanks to the app it just saved me $80
Hey. What’s up? Cool, cool. Me too. I have a question: How can I assign a mic effect on/off to a single SD key?
I like to do silly voices for fun and I want to have a key that makes the mic sound like someone is next to the couch or in the other room. 😂

Dumb question alert: If you bought says streamdeck plus do you still have to purchase the subsription? Thanks.
Android Users getting screwed again. (And I dont mean features, they have said thats "coming") - They should have also released a lifetime payment option as a bare minimum for Android too.
Overdeck is a very good option with a UX that doesn't suck and gives more buttons for free.

Knowing I can pay one price to turn my old phone into a stream deck for my gaming PC while using my physical stream decks to control my streaming PC makes me all sorts of giddy :D

Full-size or Mini iPad for this? Also, which one of each to ensure I can still get updates for this app? Would love to spend the US$50 and cancel my sub to save on the cost of a pair of SDXLs.
So have they got gestures yet? Ie dbl click etc?
Have you ever tried connecting stream deck with google home / google assistant?
It is a great idea… I have the XL and to be honest… don’t know what to add to it that is practical
When they make an Android version of the software be a one time purchase, then I'll probably do it. But I'm NEVER paying a sub fee for it.
I despise subscription fees so I'm shocked they did this tbh.
Using Split View is NOT allowing me to run two instances that are BOTH connected to the same Mac. I can only connect to one instance at a time on my iPad. Can you please clarify how you did that?
Sounds great but I don't have an iPad. The one time payment is very nice!
What about an android tablet?
I could totally use some ideas for streamdeck actions
Is the extra keys only available on the ipad
Hi Nutty, do you have a video where you show how I can make alerts in my discord once I go live on twitch? With streamer bot?
Sounds like a good idea! I think we are all curious about what your decks look like!
Haha they must have updated this right after i checked it out, here i go again!
Doesn't work on older versions of IOS. At this point my iPad 3rd gen is a paperweight. Runs touch portal though.
As soon as they add faders like in Touch Portal, I'm jumping ship.
honestly $17 and supporting a creator I like to get rid of that activate windows finally was worth it
i finally have a use for my ipad air thats sitting around all day cuz im not in school and dont need it for anything else
Yes please for the ideas vid!
I would love ideas for what to put on my stream deck. Mine is essentially an overglorified mute button at this point.
Is the Logic Pro app on the store !!
does the app have something similar to the knobs on the stream deck plus?
Hope this comes to Android soon, so we can try the free version on the world's most used OS. :p
currently in development, but the first version was the same thing - first on IOS then Android came later - I believe 4 years later tho.
I wish this option was available before I bought a stream deck.
buy it just to be safe. good price right now. And you can resell your deck.
i have a ipad pro and it dont find any pc's on the network. The Qr code also just sits there never connects. Any clue to why this is? Yes both are on same network. Both are updated. It just isn't connecting
NICE PELICANS JERSEY!!!!!! im from nola!
I would love some ideas of things to put on my stream decks. I have 2 xl's 2 15 keys and one with the knobs
the android version does not have a free version , its still paid
thanks man cool free stuff i like
Me want.
No seriously, this is an awesome Stream Deck solution.
Make the ideas for your streamdeck! DO IT :D
With extra buttons, I'm totally down for some ideas for a streamdeck
You cannot use the same virtual device across multiple phones though, so each phone will act like it's own independent Stream Deck.
good one ! sad there is no some trial like 1 week to you test it before decide is it for you. Nice find !
You can use 6 buttons for free. No time period
@@TheLifeofKB yeah crazy me idk how my brain didnt received that he told few times that haahhah ! tnx for knocking on my head :)
Is.... that Chrono Trigger/Cross remixed music?
Hmm... Sticking with sammi... Does it all already but pretty good thing this!
Almost one year later and no update for android.
Why not just use Touch Portal?
I just bought a Stream Deck. The old iOS app was utterly pointless. Now they have a real winner, for $80 AUD. Even cheaper than a Stream Deck, and much more useful.
honestly now I just wanna sell my streamdeck and use this. This seems way better than the actual streamdeck.
Elgato's worst enemy: it's own pricing.
Needlessly expensive shit.
