The Algorithm gods have truly blessed me today. The comments are all about the terrain... but the editing, stop motion animation, digital animation, visual story telling with the tree door. There is a lot of work and art that went into this video outside of just the terrain build.
It's rare to see a multi- discipline artist / content creator who can do all that with under 100k subs. This channel is a true hidden gem.
If you use magnets on the bottom of your terrain plates instead of glueing them in, you can use the portable case to hold an infinite number of landscapes when you go out with it. You can store your terrain plates in a special wardrobe and just swap them out as needed. Great job making the terrain pieces. Looking very nice.
Bonus. Put the magnets on the wood side only and just flat steel circles on the foam parts. Saves on magnets and easier to alignment
I was just about to write the same thing.
I will be honest here for a second-I think the RUclips algorithm recommended this video because I absolutely love the terrain and board builds, and this video of yours is no exception. It was so cool!
On top of that, add your fun and amazing personality, whimsical editing, and fantastic video quality, and I think you've earned a well-deserved subscription from me!
I can't wait to see what else you have hidden up your magical sleeve.
Love, love, love!
Beautiful table and the story telling was very inspiring
Shut up checkmark
Great video! Love that you actually have fun doing terrain. RUclips is flooded with ppl painting minis and not enough ppl making great terrain. Thank you!
i love the bit where you put the portal on the tree, it trully belongs there, and it's so beautiful to see your taste develop on every aspect of the proyect! Really well done
I can't believe I haven't seen your channel before yet!! You deserve so many more subscribers
To me it seems sensible to fix it in the case because the case protects it and keeps it stackable and neat in storage as well as for transport. nice.
The hammer textures look so good!
I was so surprised it worked 😂
A pleasure to watch. An alternate hinge option would be the type of hinge found on Wallpapering tables, it would allow the walls of your box to be slightly thinner. I do have some experience making folding terrain, and your result is rather good.
I love this. The terrain, the video, the story, the shenanigans and the result. I hope my daughter will grow up to be someone like you. 😊
Love your enthusiasm as a young 68, it’s 56 years ago that I played D&D, and Warhammer, may your dice roll well, new subscriber
Besides your great aestatic, gotta give you probs for those video transitions! Its a great mix of vibes, wierdness and skill. Really reminds of Monty Python and the holy grail :D
Glad you like them!
What a fun video and great looking terrain! Loved the music, found it very fitting and the transitions with the drawings were a real treat!
Glad you enjoyed it!
RUclips just pointed me in your direction and I really enjoyed your content, after I found this channel I will stay. I'm curious what will come in the future. Good luck with the channel and thank you for the videos.
Awesome, thank you!
Beautiful and magical terrain board ❤😊❤
Whoa, lots to unpack here! 😁 Beautiful build, and I really enjoy your style of editing.
The river looks great. I used silicone for a few water pieces but I usually mix it with white spirit so it can be painted on with a brush. After seeing this, will have to try using it raw.
This is awesome. Fantastic work on this terrain build. Definitely look ready for some gaming.
Stumbled on the video and channel, gotta say, its fantastic. Love this project and how you told its story.
This is such a neat concept and solid presentation!!!!
May I make a suggestion if you want to make another themed case?
Make it modular by using a 0.75mm magnetic mild steel sheet that you spray galvanise and varnish for the bottom. (not stainless).
Then you cut squares or even puzzle pieces of masonite, thick flat cardboard or thin plywood, glue thin fabric ribbons across one facing of them place them on the steel bottom of the case, flat ribbons to the steel and then glue a suitable number of magnets to the top side of the modular inner pieces so that they adhere magnetically to the steel and the ribbons can be used to break the magnetic bond.
Finally, build your terrain on the magnet facing of the squares, hiding the magnet in the foam and allowing the ribbon to extend enough to protrude slightly between the foam sections when fitted in the box.
/40yo tabletop gamer who thinks you are on your way to great deeds for the hobby in both RPGs and other tabletop games.
This is so wonderful. I find your work very inspiring! I wondered what music a creator like you would listen to. Do you listen to music while crafting? Any song suggestions?
Good video, and that's a cool board. I like the little flourishes you've added to the video
Was looking into a way to build a foldable table topper for my skirmish war game and stumbled upon your video!
I liked what you created, the terrain looks really nice and the idea with hinges is pretty neat and might steal it! Also, good to see some Belgians representing the table-top hobby.
I have no interest in making a board, but still found this video extremely captivating 😅
Your work is always so inspiring. I look would love to watch some lore videos about the Hazelands!
this is so awesome! totally inspired to make one of my own for fantasy skirmish games
This was such a fun board build and the fact that it's portable was really amazing!
Oh, and thanks for that spell, it looks useful.
What a wonderful board you've made! The use of silicon glue is something I'm definitely going to use in one of my projects
Greetings from the Derby City! Always great to see you making creative content. Love your enthusiasm, colorful perspective, whimsical descriptions, and overall great production quality in sound, lighting, edititing, and story. Thank you for inspiring us to think outside the box. Or in this case, inside the box? Nice job!
Wonderful build Tine, your love of whimsy shines throughout! I have not seen transparent silicone used before and I certainly will keep that component in mind when crafting in the future.
Thanks so much 😊
So creative, love it. 💚
Wonderful video Tine! That board is incredible too!
Thank you ☺️
That was a nice project, I think I will attempt to make one for myself for playing mordheim. Thanks for making the video.
Reminds me of those car mini games with magnetic pieces
Yeah next time it should be magnetic!
Absolutely fantastic work, love all you do.
Clicked on this and didn't even realize it was you Tine! This is a project I've been wanting to do forever!
And it's by the person who did one of my favorite minis ever, the little traveling gnome!
Awh thanks!
What an amazing idea! Good work :)
Awesome build! The silicon river looks particularly great :)
Ha! I made the same thing. I tried to make a modular one originally but in the end I had to choose between modularity or stuff actually being secure. Might revisit the idea next year so I can make a portable set up for playtesting a game. Right there with you on the riverbed method btw, smashing the life out it with a ball peen hammer to give it form was my approach. Hoping for a grant towards a laser cutter at some point so will be back to it...
I might borrow this idea for a portable modeltrain layout.
You should watch geek gaming scenics or the terrain tutor. You will love it. Great work! Keep it up.
That is absolutely beautiful. Using the silicone for the river worked so well. Would you ever consider releasing plans for the box in your shop? I'd definitely buy some plans. I want to make my own folding terrain now.
I could definitely share the plans but they will be messy 😅
@@Tine_Fieldling Messy works for me. It would be a help to figure out how you made that hinge seamless on the top. Just watched a second time. So fun.
Great job and the silicone for water is such a great idea!!!
Looks amazing great job!!!
This video was fun to watch. Thanks! I especially like the idea of using silicone instead of epoxy.🎉
Glad you enjoyed it! Silicone for the win 💪
Very entertaining. I can totally relate to having more than one project going on at a time.
Amazing!!! great video. I also dislike resin and thank you for sharing the caulking i have never seen that before. I have used clear pva before on many smaller projects to achieve a similar wet effect!
Using Silicone for water i think is much more forgiving and beginner friendly than using resin. A lot cheaper and easier to remove if something goes wrong too.
Yes exactly! I’m super clumsy and it very forgiving for someone like me!
See she said resin pour and I wasn't as interested as that stuff goes everywhere and never how I want. But this??? SOOOOOOO user friendly and definitely something I'd try
I wonder if you could have found a non-permanent way to adhere it to the travel case. It would be super neat if you had a few different terrains (village, dungeon, cave, cemetery, etc...) that you could use depending on the campaign.
The silicone glue for water was amazing!!
Yeah that’d be neat!
@@Tine_Fieldling Oh, yes, @technophobiakills4371 , I had the same thought! But then I also thought having this landscape be the base for all future terrains would be cool. I think the landscape could be adapted/changed to fit the mood and purpose for a lot of scenes through terrain pieces like trees, hills, houses, labyrinths etc. , but have it all happening in the same landscape. This would make it feel off, as if your players' characters were in a fever dream of sorts, which I think fits a feywild vibe.
That's a neat idea to have differnt inserts for various stories. Or maybe a hidden compartment for pieces? Or secret cave under one of the layers? Tine does a fantastic job, I think you might have provided another creative video idea. I mean, that box is soooooooooo cool! Props to your pops Ms. Tine!
@@toddguenther1568 YES, her work is so inspiring and truly creative
Someone else said it reminded them of those car mini games with magnetic pieces. You could use this concept to make a case with changeable terrain. The outside panels of the case would be magnetic, and magnets could be mounted in the bottom of all the terrain pieces.
Your terrain could be two large panels, like in this project, individual terrain items that could be place anywhere on the surface, or smaller terrain panels that would fit together allowing you to vary the terrain.
Say your magnetic panels are 20" x 20", giving you a 20" x 40" surface when open. You make terrain pieces that are all dimensions that are multiples of 5". In this way your 20" x 40" surface could be filled with two 20" x 20" pieces, or one 20" x 20" piece and four 10" x 10" pieces, or one 20" x 20" piece, and two 10" x 10" pieces, and four 5" x 5" pieces placed next to a 5" x 20" piece.
Only took me until the end of the video to realise that I had seen you before on the Juggz Podcast. But more related to the video. For a while I've been wanting a way to have a war gaming table that is all flocked up and not completely flat but also east to bring out and put away. I had never considered making something that can fold up like that.
Maybe you could use a bit of green canvas to cover and protect the gap between the boards when it is folded :) this is a fantastic travel table for games!
That's a great idea!
+1 life's whimsy level
Now, that is a lovely piece of terrain! Great job :)
really nice job!
Such a great idea
Good job. Hello from France
This is really great! Thanks for sharing. I'm glad I saw you on Juggz. For your next challenge: make a game board that you can hang on the wall like art! If there's anyone who can pull it off it's you! Keep up the good work Tine 😁👍
I've had a similar idea except I want to have the textured map be on the out side of the box and use the inside to store 10mm sized mini's and terrain. A warmaster on the go box.
This is fantastic!!!
Great idea, but if I were to do it, I wouldn't set the model's base with the terrain already prepared, I would rather add hills and other terrain obstacles in a different place each time. Great job!
Wow… this video was… just… perfect. How are you so cool?
Brilliant video ❤
i enjoyed watching this build. It was creative and a different spin on the typical terrain crafting vids out there. Thank you for sharing. Subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
Great idea! I am working on a similar concept except I want to build terrain into a guitar case.
I think the hinges that were used in the case you took inspiration from are a type of 'flip top' hinges. Possibly an older design.
I wanna see that!!
Wow. It's wonderful and insoirimg! It's a lot of time that I want to do so.ething like a pop-up terrain. My plan it to make a tre section box a whit deep sides. I want to use a mat and then bolt some buildings so it will be modular.
Absolutely wonderful. Such a fantastic project. The video is great, too. I love the animation.
Thank you so much 😀
Very good
love this, favourite part is when you use silicone, im a hobbist myself, i make gundams for comp and one thing i hate is that people are told by RUclips that it will be 100s of dollars to begin or you need all the name brand stuff, love your content will be subbed
Many people new to modelling hobbies unfortunately fall for that commercial trap via social media as that's the perception "Big model gaming" corporations try to push nowdays, sometimes even using undisclosed sponsorship advertising that gets content creators in legal trouble😬
When I started tabletop model gaming, even the biggest games companies like Games Workshop, had entire sections of their monthly magasines dedicated to kitbashing, terrain construction and sculpting using everything from popsicle sticks and moskito netting to steel wire, boiled beech pebbles, bottle caps and empty shampoo bottles!
There was even a guy at my FLGS that based his entire Imperial guard army with dried oregano preserved with watered down PVA glue as foliage! And plastic moskito nets spray painted green with the same oregano treatment as cammo netting!😊
Tine, your creativity blows my mind every time. As always, I arrived here for the inspiring project and hit repeat for another helping of the storytelling and whimsy 🌈🧚♀❤
PS in terms of practicalities, do you have any tips for the construction of the wooden case please? I have my own project that calls for something similar.
Wow, thank you! I should draw a little plan, but I thought it was important to have no seam. So I cut out a piece of the foam and a piece out of the bottom of the box so they fit perfectly together and the foam sits a little above it when the case lies open. And then it’s just important to make the hinge flat to the case so it closes properly and opens perfectly flat. I dunno if that makes sense 😅
Loved the video
If you do more and want more elevation inside you can get thinner sheets and build them up
This is so cool
amazing!
Cool video!
Very cool build, great video too! 😊 subbed
Awesome, thank you!
So cool. 👍
Nice Work =)
very cool
Nice, a very good idea.
your awesome!
Wonderful wonder full video!
LOVE it ! You inspired me to make my own portable terrain. (Love the door too) Thanks for this amazing video 🙏🏼
Show me if you do! 👀
nice work! great video
Omg let me run a D&D game on this board
Of course!!
Very cool!
Very cool.
Sorry I missed it, but what are the dimensions of the full board? This was awesome and great for storage. I could imagine 20 different formats that I keep in my garage! 😊👍
Thank you! It’s a 3x3 board, i wanted to go bigger but then it wouldn’t fit in my tiny car 😅
@@Tine_Fieldling Sweet! That is a perfect size for skirmish games! 😊👍
i quite like your frog shirt
I like YOUR frog shirt
Who is here because of Miss Rogue? Tine, you're really fun! #JUGGZ4LYFE
Rick Perry!
You said maybe Im obsessed with green while almost everything in the frame including your clothing was green... Yeah I think that's probably an accurate self assessment
🐸
This build is wonderful! Are there ways for people to engage with or contribute to the Hazelands?
Thank you! Make anything! I’ve got some lore and session prep on my Patreon. And I might post a crafting challenge soon 🤔
Does she have the plans online for the box that’s the hardest part about it all. I’d love to make a few of these for AOS&40k this would make the game more enjoyable and accessible.
subbed
I too hate resin! Does the silicone glue shrink/crack or yellow over time? I would like to try it, and figured I would ask. Thank you for sharing this incredible project!
It doesn’t crack but it turns slightly green over time, which I honestly think makes it look more like water 😅
Alternate title: 𝗜'𝗺 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻: 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭𝟮
Hey Tine, I tried to copy the spell, but I think something went wrong in my writing. the Hazelands are not supposed to be slimy and tentacly are they? Please share some advise to fix this? The void beyond the gate I created is demanding tribute.
Coat your river with modpodge when its fully set or it will stink for months
Awesome
