@@300zxdriver It's 100 times better than the system in the 2018 TLX ASPEC I had previously. I've owned Acura's since 2001 so I've noticed improvements all along the way - with the current one coming well above the rest
I like the placement of the speakers in this car. The way they are placed it will reduce any sound cancellation that could be caused by proximity of other speakers and some speakers just dont reflect off the glass well. A proper DSP can correct a bad speaker to sound better and even help with time alignment for the listener. I may have to take a ride in this car soon. As a point of reference, I spent 7k on my audio in my Acura TL. Everything JL Audio with VXI amps. Not even a apples to apples comparison but I do like how far car manufactures have come in that area.
I've been lucky enough to hear this audio system in person and it's phenomenal, especially for the price. My ONLY criticism would be that the mid bass could have a bit more punch and the sub bass could have a bit more rumble, but that could also be attributed to my music selection. I can't wait to see what they do with the 25 speaker system in the MDX type s
Thanks. I have the RDX 2020 and when I heard Seal's Fly Like an Eagle was like I did for the first time, all the little details with guitar, organ. Specially studio acoustic music, with talented session musicians adding creative details, with a tight drums, this system is just a discovery experience. One thing to remember is that you can get this in a $45K car. I think that's unbeatable
My Dad test drove yesterday. The sound system was pretty good imo and I thought the bass was good, but nothing insane. Definitely a step up from the previous generation sound system.
I purchased the last new 4th generation TL sold in the country, which was an advanced package and 9 years later has 71000 miles and never a repair. That said, the TLX will be my next new car, but not while the TL still looks and runs like new. Great video.
I did not know about the binaural earphones to get the realistic feel of the the audio inside the car with earphones. Always wanted to hear ELS and this is the my first time albeit virtually. Thank you!!!
Disagree with the rating. I am an audiophile and have had this system since May. I have copied all of my music lossless, including my cd's , dvd audio 5.1, SACD, Blu Ray, concert DVDs and it has great bass when the source has great bass. This system is a 10 for a car. It's not a $25,000.00 dollar home audio system, but it is excellent and really begs for 5.1 source music! If you only listen to to stereo files, you are missing this systems strength.
I have a ‘20 MDX with the 10 speaker ELS system. I regret at least not taking an opportunity to hear the new upgraded version in either the RDX or TLX when I was in the process of shopping.
The RDX sounds fantastic. I helped my friend buy a ‘21 RDX. I owned an older MDX with the ELS. The new system blows it away. HOWEVER the older systems had better bass.

One comment about using DTS neural surround or not. With surround disabled you are basically using the speakers of your section. Since the speakers in the back repeat the same as in front but farther away, they are not contributing to your experience. The sound is more direct, you can feel the singer inches apart from you. For me, that works well for slow tempo vocalist with piano and 2-3 other musicians. But anything bigger feels compressed by the cabin space. DTS surround decompress the sound. It will not sound as intimate, but will have better staging and will use all speakers to make you feel like you are in a bigger space, and if you close your eyes it may fool you. In previous versions the sound was too echoed in the back, but in the latest back seat sounds great too, althought best seat is front due to the proximity to the center speaker
I'd love it if you had the chance to do something like an older LS460 with the ML, something that in it's day was hailed for it's sound system, and how it'd compare to cars like this today.
Thanks for this video demonstration of the ELS sound system. There's not a lot of videos out there doing car sound reviews. I do wish on your next review, you would sit in the back to test the rear speakers too. I feel the front is usually the most focused by the car design engineers. Quality of music is usually neglected in the back seats unfortunately and i would love to hear what it sounds like in the back too. Some drivers (like me) would prefer my passengers to have a full immersion just as much as the front.
A note on that - In my 2004 Acura TL, they focused on the front seats. That was great. Then in my 2012, I noticed that they added focus on the rear seats by adding the front channel in the rear door speakers, so that the back seat passengers could hear the front channel better. It really takes away from the surround experience for the front seats. In a surround system, I think you need to pick a point in space to focus on for greatest effect, and I think it needs to be the driver/front passenger.
I have listened to both. As nice as the Levinson is, the ELS is sick. The mid range is better and the base tones deeper with the sub woofer positioning in the TLX I own. Both aeee great, the ELS is noticeably better in my honest opinion.
I’m just here to say, since I had an old Acura RL were the stereo system absolutely blew me away with hard hitting bass and great stereo separation! I have bought several cars since the Acura Lincoln‘s Corvettes Lexus which is the absolute worst even Mark Levinson(no hard hitting bass at all). I’m going to start looking at Acura not only are they unbelievable cars but the stereo systems have always been top notch! I love my Lexus ES. I’m 60 years old but I still like to my stereo system to hit hard whether it’s rock or any other type of music. Believe me the Lexus ride is on believable but I don’t wanna spend four grand for an aftermarket stereo system. From what I know and rented in the past Acura already has this done for you. I may lose the rod of a Lexus but a sound system is very important to me. I’ve even looked at manual six speed Camaros and six speed mustangs V8 models. The stereo systems have no amplifier guards to them whatsoever. I understand you should be listening to the VA while you’re shifting but come on occasionally I’d like some concert music pumping through me I’m not that old. They’re making systems geared toward 70 and 80 year old people that listen to symphony and Bach whether they even turn the stereo on or not I doubt it. I just bought an MK ex SUV looks amazing ambient lighting THx system. 13 years old with 60,000 miles. They were in their late 80s and never open the sunroof after several attempts it opened and the plastic clip popped from non-use now if I want to keep it $4000 because they don’t want to replace a clip rather the channels the motor and the weatherstripping all around it $1200 alone but the vehicle looks like it rolled out of the showroom floor. Well either back to A lex or more performance sedan Acura. All because I wanna rock out in my car I’d rather A Lexus but…,, idk My two cents!

I was thinking about getting the 2022 TLX just because of the sound system itself but after hearing this, definitely won't because I don't wanna live in my car! LOL! This is the sickest sound I've heard in any car! It gives me goose bumps, bro. Went to shop around for the new 2022 TLX and fell in love with them. I had shopped online to see what they were all about and knew they were expensive. While I was there, the car salesman told me that the 2023 Acura Integra is coming out next month of in June and that it would also have the 3D Studio sound and ... drum roll ... they would be in mid- to high 30's selling price. Some of the other videos I've watched show a fix-a-flat kit in the trunk floor, and speakers mounted free-air in the rear deck. I'm so tired of free-air trunk subs, but I don't know if I'd be motivated enough anymore to build enclosures under them.
It would have been way more appropriate to compare this sound system to the 2022/2021 Lexus ES350 instead of the crossover. Sedans and larger vehicles almost always have different speaker count ranges and specs
Acura shouldn't have taken the DVD-Audio player out of their cars. I'm sticking with my 2013 TL with it's 10-speaker ELS system which sounds incredible when you feed it hi-res 5.1 DVD-A. I read that they're making progress by letting you play 5.1 FLAC files but I wish they would put the optical disc player back in the car.
Hi, ima new to the acura family. I recently bought the 2023 tlx aspec. I love the audio but i cant seem to get the rear or roof speakers to play music, only the front dash speakers. Is there a way to get music to play on all speakers?

It’s actually very easy to use and safer to use as opposed to a touch screen. It’s not a traditional touch pad, it’s a 1-1 interface, very easy to use.
@@RomaneMaticaliseGordon the 1-1 interface doesn't apply to the Apple CarPlay though... that functions more like a traditional touch pad so if you spend more time in CarPlay like I do, it's a bit more of a turn off unfortunately.

@@jobot I have the ELS Studio 3D on my '20 RDX. Unfortunately you cannot run music off USB and use phone navi together... very disappointing actually. My previous car was Audi Q5 and I was able to use both simultaneously
This system SUCKS in my $54,000 2021 TLX Type-S. Though it's touted to be Acura's best ever with its 17 speakers and 700+ Watts of power, it is by far the WORST audio system of any of the EIGHT Acura's I've had. This video states that there are speakers under the floor in the trunk. NOT true! When I brought the car in to the dealer to complain about the system, I additionally got Acura Technical Support on the phone while the dealer's Service Tech sat with me. The only thing Tech Support was able to do was record a "Formal Complaint", for which I received a complaint number. That's NO consolation! There is NO ability to adjust the subwoofers and with the BASS volume at its maximum, you don't FEEL it at all. Additionally, though it purportedly has 700+ Watts of power, I am able to listen to the system at full volume. 700 Watts is BS! If anyone has a suggestion on what my next steps should be, I'd be grateful.
Get your ears checked asap. I have this car and my previous car was a BMW 550i with the bang & olufsen stereo with 1600 watts and although not as loud it’s pretty damn close. My wife has an E class with the Burmester stereo and this blows that out of the water. I’m not sure how much better you’re wanting in a car stereo. The fact that your other Acura’s stereo sounds better makes me believe you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
I was in an Uber Acura TLX with sport package and upgraded sound system. I was blowwwnnn away. Sounded 10x better than all of the premium German cars

I don’t think the Acura has subwoofers in the bottom of the trunk. Pretty sure they’re in the rear deck.

I heard also that an issue with the Tesla is the high reflextions of the glass roof, which makes pretty much anything sound like in a bathroom

When I brought the car in to the dealer to complain about the system, I additionally got Acura Technical Support on the phone while the dealer's Service Tech sat with me. The only thing Tech Support was able to do was record a "Formal Complaint", for which I received a complaint number. That's NO consolation! There is NO ability to adjust the subwoofers and with the BASS volume at its maximum, you don't FEEL it at all. Additionally, though it purportedly has 700+ Watts of power, I am able to listen to the system at full volume. 700 Watts is BS! If anyone has a suggestion on what my next steps should be, I'd be grateful.
Get your ears checked asap. I have this car and my previous car was a BMW 550i with the bang & olufsen stereo with 1600 watts and although not as loud it’s pretty damn close. My wife has an E class with the Burmester stereo and this blows that out of the water. I’m not sure how much better you’re wanting in a car stereo. The fact that your other Acura’s stereo sounds better makes me believe you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
I agree. I just got my Type S yesterday. That’s what brought me here. Doesn’t sound good to me. I was looking for guidance on settings.
