Disney's The Lion King - Level 8

- Level 8, Be Prepared, of my Lion King playthrough on Easy. Once again... ZSNES "hiccuped" on me slightly part way through the video.
So thanks to PkGam for editing it and making it seem virtually unnoticeable :D

Anyway, Simba continues on his way back to Pride Rock to fight Scar and avenge his father. And ya, I do this level in one go... which sure wasn't easy O_o.

WTF THIS GAME IS HARDER THAN DARK SOULS
I never was able to get past this level until about 2 years ago when i replayed. Not just because it was a difficult level but because a brother or my mum would complain that I been playing for ages (we only had one telly) and there was no save function on the sega so you started from new each time >.
Why are there leopards living in a volcano?
This lvl and lvl 9 were the worst/hardest ones for me. Ah the memories ! xD
yes they were lol but think about the people who couldnt even beat the 2nd level. soo many people commented on that level lmao
This level was a bitch back in the day. The bats, the lava drips, the lava, the boulder that eats up your life with one hit, everything about it was a nightmare
he means edited which u clearly state at the beginning of the video. think this is the one i was stuck on as a kid, i seem to remember the level with the lava being hard n havent even watched it yet lol thumbs up dude for bringing back some brilliant memories!!
it's funny how the actual song, be prepared, is on the soundtrack but it doesn't play in this level, it instead plays in the elephant graveyard level
This might be me being used to the track being played in each level from the times playing it, but the programmers probably put that track with The Elephant graveyard because it does seem to be more fitting with the level look and design. Also, I'm pretty sure the songs throughout the game are played in sequential order as per the order from the movie, including "Can you feel the love tonight" which is played during the credits. Why did they not include Nala in the game somehow!? :P
You have to collect the red bugs. There's one in level 1, level 6 and level 9 I believe. You can also collect them from the bug hunt bonus levels if you collect enough bugs.

Be Prepared is right. Be prepared to do a alot jumping getting chrushed by falling rocks
@MizzCiao Ya, I just wasn't experienced enough with this level back during the streams. Whatever key you have mapped to X is what you use for maul.
@EmpressOfNerds Hmm, now that I think of that combination, that sounds like it would go together well.
@1:40. I never knew about the rocks and i never went further in the game.
Never beat this game because i got stuck on this level like 20 years ago and now determined to play it again to beat it.
Good luck! Just a heads up though the next level after this one is tricky especially since the enemies respawn.

Umm... no, 0:51 was not where I edited it. From what I recall, I think it was something near the end.
@allem8ig5 This is a game on the SNES. There's also a DOS/PC version that is almost identical, but it has a few notable glitches.
Cool. My favourite would have to be level 2 as the music from it is my favourite song from the movie ever since I was a kid.
@MizzCiao I'd say it was a glitch. The game probably wasn't able to fully render the layer effect of the small cave, and considered the layer I was on to be the same as the bat or something. Tell me about it... I guess it helped that I did it several times before, even though I did die a couple times back then, so I'm at least used to it.
@tostrivetoseek Ya, I agree that this level was made far too difficult. They definitely should have added a password feature as well.
Nevermind, it seems you figured out how to maul. :P
Anyway, nice job. This is not an easy level, but keep at it, and you'll get it soon enough. :)

@metaXzero Ya, this level is arguably the hardest level in the game. There is another checkpoint in this level though. Instead of breaking the right stalagmite, break the left one and you'll reach another checkpoint. You won't be able to get the bug hunt bug, but it might make things easier.

Well, whenever I watched the movie when I was a little kid, I would imitate the characters a lot, including when after eating a bug, Simba said "Slimy... yet satisfying" XD Kids say the darnest things, eh? ;3

@sMCCarthyTV1 Don't forget about the annoying bats... >.>, especially when on the platform in the second half of the level.
Oh, my bad. Do you play it through DosBox? In that case, it might vary depending on what you configured it. Maybe you have it configured with alt or shift.
Finally got here! On normal but I can't do it cuz of the bats oh you hit the bats I'll try and also half of it I can't find
The later levels take a lot of practice, but you'll get it eventually.

I just farted, anyway this was always my favorite level.

@pokelover95078 I know what you mean, this game is definitely not easy. Just keep trying, take the advice of the annotations, and you'll get it soon enough.

If you knew this or not, you can flip the cheetah/leopards and the hyenas.

Why was this level so fucking hard? I never even made it to the checkpoint thanks to a combination of the lava sail and boulder segments eating my lives. The only reason I beat the game was using some form of level skip cheat to the next level and pressing on.
ths game is hard as shit... god... Tarzan is easier
