    Mines done 165000 miles and I love her to bits, diesel 3.0ltr Premium Luxury 2011 and uses no oil, used to get the dpf warnings but good runs now and again sorts that out. Economical too on a run, 45 mpg plus even at 70 mph. Best car I ever owned. She`s a keeper.

      Hi Steve I am currently really really tempted to buy a 2013 XF Estate the only thing putting me off is its done 142,000 Miles but it does seem an awful lot of car for the money. I was thinking with it being a 3Ltr Diesel I would imagine it should be good for a few 100K miles.
      What's your thoughts on this 🤔 would very much appreciate any feedback.
      Thanks Steve

    I have the same model as this with 155000 on the clock and it is in absolutely mint condition. A fantastic car to drive. The only issues I have had since purchase is the DPF warning light as shown in this video and I also had to replace the battery as it was throwing up all kinds of gremlins and warning lights which ended up being a dodgy battery. What I will say is that the engine warning light is not related to the DPF as that amber light on the dashboard is its own warning light. I give my Jag a good spin on my local motorway every week which keeps the DPF happy, just 20 miles should be enough. If you find it is throwing up a DPF warning regularly then it is most likely the EGR valve that needs a good clean or replacing but that is relatively inexpensive. The water in fuel warning is a little more concerning and I would get it serviced ASAP as I noticed that can throw the car into limited performance mode. One thing I can not stress enough is always use premium diesel such as V-Power.. The XF is a precious little soul that really picks up and throws a tantrum on cheap fuel!!

    • @ArmaganDemiral
      @ArmaganDemiral  2 года назад +2

      Definitely correct on these points, it seems like it’s vital that the XF gets at least a good motorway run once a week! Seems like a common issue at this mileage. Real joy to drive though

    • @jagjay8033
      @jagjay8033 2 года назад +1

      the water in fuel is just a sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter 2min job

    • @voicevoice2053
      @voicevoice2053 Год назад

      Expensive premium fuel is usually over rated. Engines run fine on any grade of fuel. They are designed to including this engine. Just add an additive occasionally. In fact you can run this quite happily on red diesel

    • @Dr.SkullScience77
      @Dr.SkullScience77 Год назад

      @@voicevoice2053 Absolutely. The additive is key. Premium fuels already have the additives in them and are more beneficial to older, high mileage examples that have a tendency to clog up the EGR valve due to reduced efficiency. As for your statement on red diesel, that experiment is easy to find both on RUclips or on the individual car forums like Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar. FYI, the Jag XF, a 2014 model I believe, lasted 20 minutes before the check engine warning light came on 😂

    • @voicevoice2053
      @voicevoice2053 Год назад +1

      @@Dr.SkullScience77 it would be good to hear a more technical answer to running on red diesel. Its the same as white. Maybe without the same additives. The long held belief it won't run an engine properly is a myth for obvious reasons Premium fuel differential is only additives. Diesel engines are built and programed to include tolerance to fuel variations. The guy I know who runs taxis ( Mercedes diesel cars) has been using red diesel for over a decade without problems. Even fuel filter changes the same service intervals

    Couple of points. The "heating controls" are NOT activated only by the touchscreen - you can operate absolutely everything with the exception of the heated seats with the controls on the dash. For the heated seats controls, they're right there on the main screen, there's no menus to scroll through. It's not a problem at all yet I've seen several reviews that seem to suggest that you have to go through the system to use all the heating and climate controls.
    Second point is only a minor one, the Jag badge on the rotary gear selector is an aftermarket stick on extra, it doesn't come with the car,

    I've been in the xfs version with 270bhp so I know how smooth the V6 is. My brother did buy the facelift 2013 2.2 diesel 200bhp. That engine was surprisingly laggy. Ride was slightly harsh but did love interior especially the centre console. He had a few issues with his so went back to the Audi with a 2015 a6. This is his 3rd a6 he loves Audis

      They must of played around with the suspension on the facelift then. That’s a shame. Can’t go wrong with a Audi A6, I do love that era of Audi A6’s, when they came out in 2011 or 2012 (can’t remember). Does ur bro have the 2 litre TDI S line?

    Good video, thanks. I have a 2011 XF 3.00 diesel S. I love the car. My dpf warning light came on saying full and then a red restricted performance light. It turned out one of the inlet manifolds had cracked. The part is about £250, but very labour intensive. Mine is in a garage now and will cost £1,500, even more if they can't regen the dpf. £300 to send away and fix a blocked one. Failed inlet manifolds are evidently quite common.

Two days after the repairs were completed the crank snapped whilst on the motorway (no warnings) and destroyed the engine. I was ready to write it off but I may find a CAT B car and take the engine and box from that. The internet is awash with stories just like this about the TD/SDV6. How JLR were never sued for the sheer number of failures of these units I will never know. Also, best to have the DPF deleted 👍

    I've driven the (204 hp) Diesel, the V8 and the supercharged V8 and, sadly, this car really, really needs V8 power IMO. Never got a chance to drive the more powerful Diesels or the petrol V6s, but I cannot imagine any of them coming close to the V8s. You can do without the supercharger and you don't need to go crazy and look for an XFR but I would highly recommend avoiding the Diesel. It's not a bad engine, it just doesn't fit the character of this car and once you've driven the V8s, it's very hard to go back to any lesser engine. BTW: I drove the car(s) around initial launch and even back then the infotainment system was terribly out-dated. I think they ripped this one out of a Volvo. BMWs from this period had much nicer and more responsive infotainment systems, so it's not like the tech wasn't around in 2008. :)

    • @JeanTheron-cf8zl
      @JeanTheron-cf8zl 2 месяца назад

      I own a 2012 270 hp S version diesel, and it's a whole different ball game to the 2.2. You won't really miss the V8 once you've driven the 3.0 diesel, especially in the S derivative. Unless petrol is more your thing. I can also say that the infotainment system in the facelift version is a lot better.
