I don’t comment on RUclips often, but I watch so many of these vids. Give him his own show someone ?
I've said before that he'd be the best person to front BBC Top Gear, reestablish the show as a creditable automotive one.
@@davidmoynahan9585 with Henry Catchpole from Carfection and Matty from CarWow that would be a dream team to get me watching Top Gear again unlike the boisterous stag-do that turned Chris Harris into a punchbag.
@@SocksWithSandals I've just unsubscribed from Carwow!! Too many subscribers....... HPA is so underrated
Who watches TV these days??
@@pollumG Nope.
I don't believe the news, I don't laugh at the comedy, and I'm NOT entertained by dramas about psychopaths indulging in torture.
You are by far the best reviewer around.
Yeah! Absolutely! HPA is better than Carwow, better than Carbuyer and many others!! Very underrated
Underrated aswell
Underrated to say the least!
Totally Agree. Always fresh, pinch of humour, no waffling.amd every point is well made and all is covered for everyday consumer like fuel economy etc.
@@Alexander_l322 totally right!!
The "outside the post office" description of whose car it may be was brilliant.
Haha thanks
My chest was in pain after that “older golfers and free masons” comment
Haha Cheers
Coventry's finest, big soft spot for any Jaaaaaaag - underrated car, I think a lot of people thought they'd had their day but I would definitely buy one.
I agree. I'm glad thats not the case
@Jurassic Coast Comics I think it's time for your medication and a lie down in a darkened room.
when im angry i watch some of his videos and make me feel good again, some quind of therapy ...and good vibes
Haha thanks
Had 6 Jags to date, 2 of which were XF's a Premium Lux and a Portfolio S, both 3ltr and both superb to drive, the latter was noticeably better having 275 bhp and shed loads of tourque. Now driving an XJ Portfolio and it feels even better, handling, performance, economy and looks, an incredible car all round. Jag really have pulled the rabbit out of the hat across the whole range, now offering a serious alternative to the more common German options.
I agree. I love them
It’s a beautiful car with understated styling, which is something I personally like. Great honest and thorough review as always 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
You have one of the best youtube channels about cars. You are very easy to listen to and you are very spontaneous. I'm glad you don't overdo it with the angles of the shots and the post-production. Great job !! Greetings from Serbia!
Thanks! I appreciate it :)
another cracking in depth review outlining the points many of the others miss and a nice injection of your dark humour to boot..... highly enjoyable...
Glad you enjoyed it
Love your reviews
I am thinking of getting one, and you tell me everything I need to know in an thorough and entertaining way.
You had me at Werther's Spec!
Best line ever 😆
Haha Cheers
That was genius!
I have the earlier xf and even after 2 years with it the theatre at start up still makes me smile 😃. The premium luxury spec comes with some nice extra touches too.
I went off Jaguars after my last X-Type and changed to BMW and Audi's but now on these more open roads I can see where the likes of this car could give someone pleasure driving - Cheers Matt for sharing.
thats the video i waited for !! thanks man
No problem!
Great review, I own a 2017 model and while the car is a fairly complete package, I still think the 2014 model has a better look, and they now have the Audi logic of making you pay for everything, including the rear camera
Don't ya just love the way all Middle market manufacturers are passing off non breathable plastic as, in their words, "All Leather interior" where you find the heat from your back coming back at you 👎
A guy I work with hired one of these and got caught speeding on the motorway in the earlier hours at 122 mph. Said it was very easy to reach that speed. We told him when in prison the first thing you do is pick a fight with the biggest man you can find. Then you will be left alone.
I will only buy an XF if it has retractable air vents
I bought the XF R sport. Black, no chrome, piano black plastic and black and grey leather seats. I've been waiting for you to review this for ages.
One gripe is in low gears and it does get a little confused..everything else is a joy..cheers bud 👍
Thanks for your honest review.. I am a massive Jag Fan, but to me the older generation XF (x250) just looks soo much more beautiful. I keep thinking this generation would grow on me, but so far it’s just not been the case.
You've got a point there: the MK1 XF (X250) feels and is more special. That's why I own a 2014 XF and have never considered buying the MK2 (X260).
@@zsb707 face-lift?
@@christemple1495 Yes 👍.
I absolutely love mine
Always look forward to another 9 pm video. Keep them coming...!
Thanks! Will do!
You are definitely the best reviewer on RUclips would love a Jag but just out of reach for my budget! Keep up the excellent work 👍🏼
Alessandro Ferrero Thanks! That means a lot. Cheers
Arrrrrrrgh you’ve done it again! I’m all over auto trader now!😉
I used to drive the old XJ6 & XJ12 back in the early 80's, such comfort and ghostly quiet on a run but reliabilty was a concern mostly because owners could not afford the maintenance.
Glorious cars.
Good and honest review. Ive got a 2016 XF-S and its a fantastic car, my 6th Jag. Unfortunately its just had a steering rack failure, at 28,000 miles thats cost £4k to repair. A bit of an eyewatering bill, but to put it in perspective, its had no other faults in 4 years. Even so, having to keep it a bit longer to justify the cost is no great hardship. Keep up the good work with your RUclips channel.
I also own a 2016 XF-S. I absolutely love it! The torque is amazing. However I have just been quoted £2.5k to fit a new turbo! I've only done 2k miles since I bought it so I feel a little miffed. I've opted for a second opinon though. Apart from that....it is a beautiful car.
Great review! I bought a 2013 xf recently with 79K miles - car looks brand new and drives really well (though I agree with the engine sound comment). Fuel consumption is much higher than suggested (late 30's for urban and mid-to-late forties for extra urban. But still, a lot of car for the money!
XFR-S Sportbreak; the best bang-for-buck estate car on the market.
A nice review. I have a 2015 XF in Portfolio spec and was looking at swapping for a 2nd Gen model. However, Jaguar saw fit to mess about with the spec, and things that were standard on the 1st Gen Portfolio, such as ventilated seats and the 850W Meridian Surround system (which is awesome and well worth having) became options, or weren't available. Yes, the Ingenium engines are better, the car is lighter and looks refreshed, but there wasn't a direct swap for me. The interiors are also nowhere near as good. The steering wheel switchgear for example is all black plastic and looks cheap by comparison. The interior materials are just not the same standard, and the XE was also a real disappointment. If punters have the money and aren't obsessed with ridiculous number plate snobbery, go for an earlier 3 litre V6 XF Portfolio rather than a 2nd Gen of a similar age with reduced spec. I love your videos BTW.
VFR Bore - I have the same age /spec XF as you and was quite disappointed in the X260. The interior is very poor in comparison to the earlier model. What looks like an upturned dog's feeding bowl in the centre of the steering wheel would really annoy me.
Great video. I have wanted a Jag since I was a 7 year old child but due to wife, kids etc I have never been able to get one in the right spec that I could afford. I am now in my 50,s and will be getting a Jaaag this year. My only choice is an XJ or an XF.
Hmm very tempted. A dealer close to me has a nice example. Thanks for the review 👍
Yet another great and informative review
Glad you enjoyed it
I've got the 2012 XF premium luxury 2.2 D and the interior is far more up market. It also has 200 BHP
I have followed you ever since you did a review on the Rover 75 had one 13 years and loved it. Good review very funny. But all good things must come to an end. So one the strength of your review I have just gone out and brought a 68 Reg XF 25T in Ammonite Gray with black pack. Very low mileage. It is the dogs bollocks. They're all you say and more. Looks ace fun handling on roundabouts in the snow side ways a great 8 speed auto or flappy paddle gearbox driver modes lots of menus on the dashboard to scroll through and remote start warm up and lots of other stuff. Thanks for the heads up. This was always going to be my halo car you fired me up to just get out there and do it. I have no regrets. Staywell.
Excellent review!
Excellent reviews. Top gear lost the plot years ago although great entertainment, Your reviews are real world and interesting across all ranges. Your charisma is spot on easy to listen too and honest opinions. Thank you, keep up the good work.
Always excellent, thank you :)
Another great revue Matt, had a 13 plate 2.2 diesel xf new for 5 years, loved it, changed it for a new xe last March, way too small, junior managment likes it, I'll stick with my l322 :-)
Love a Jag, not ready to give up my BM though !! Great review..!!
I wanted a jag all my life but they were beyond me but now l am again single l bought an xk8 convertible which I absolutely loved, now at 74, l drive an XKR 4.2ltr v8 supercharged version and it is by far the best car I have ever driven.
Nicely understated, good review
Thanks for watching
Pure gold, my British friend.
All the best.

Cheers!
Funnily enough I recently bought a 2013 XF in this Caviar purple, and specifically sought the color for its rarity. I sought out and chose the earlier model because it is just a nicer quality experience - as much as I like Jaguar, I find the penny pinching too evident in the 2016 plus models.
You notice it in many areas, but stylistically the hood that no longer pours over the grill, but instead has a straight edge that stops short, splitting the hood and grill in a cheap manner. As well, the earlier design had wider hips and gave the car a more sultry, sporty look, versus the newer, streamlined body that looks more pedestrian. Same with the tail lights - they now match the F-Type, but lack the smooth integration of lights with the chrome accent that was quite elegant. The exhaust tips went from integrated shiny ovals to cheap looking circle cut outs. Another feature I use often is the ability to open any of the four doors since they all have unlock buttons.
Inside, as mentioned, you get the motorized center vents, and the gear selector is a metal affair, not a flimsy plasticky piece. It has yet to get old to see all the 'strom and drang' as you fire the motor and the car comes to life. The dial is also off center to be closer to the driver - a small detail that was probably removed for cost, but also makes it less special imo. Other small details, like the seat controls that are color matched vs black (for power seats), or the quality of the leather, and the fact that after 2015, more of what you touch is hollow or hard plastic vs soft-touch, leather, or metal.
I know the new chassis is aluminum and thus lighter, but I think there's something to be said for a feeling of heftiness, especially in a car that is not a sport car first and foremost, but a luxury ride. In the USA, I think the 2012-2015 MYs are the sweet spot for the updated styling and old-school investment dollars (thanks Ford!), with 2012 being extra special as you could get V8s commonly still. With each iteration from the original, the special character of the XF has been whittled away, and not always for the better.
Oh and compared to the BMWs and Audis? The XF is much more special, as the Germans have also become effused with cheap plastic in addition to being as common as Camrys..
Just my two penny worth. Tried this year XF , bmw 520d and Audi A5 3.0 tdi sline. The Audi was ALOT better to drive and cheap as chips to run.
Love these, and i like that colour, just so different from the German cars its up against, looks classy, and refined. Would love one of these but still quite pricey , great review as usual.
We test drove a MK2 XF Sportbrake back in Jan. We loved the way it looked, drove etc. but the real dealbreaker for us was the interior. It just felt like it had been the recipient of some serious cost cutting, and felt cheap and tinny. The interior was almost a step back from the MK1 in terms of quality to be honest. Either way keep up the good work Matt, loving your videos!
I agree. You've got to go for a high spec before they start to feel luxurious
Totally agree, modern Jags are fantastic! After the 06 XJ I had, despite the problems I had with it, I’d 100% have another one, was a great car. The XE I hired a few years ago, wow, amazing. XF looks much better now it’s been facelifted but, those wheels, really not very nice to look at! Fab review, as always
Thats right. I'd go for an R Sport model
I have a 16 plate XF. It looks great from the front. Drives very smoothly. I have the manual version..
Good review buddy keep up the good work about giveing people a understand about car's to no what to look for 👌 if that makes sense 👍
Thanks! Will do!
I own a 2016 XF-R and I can say that I'm verry happy with it . The engine is great , gearbox is quick enought , depending on how heavy your foot is , the MPG is good , overall I can't complain of anything so far .
The only anoing thing is that the fron Bonnet release lever is on the passenger side and it took me 15 min to find it when I first bought the car 😅
This is my new favourite YT channel. 👏🏎️
Thanks
Excellent video; very comprehensive, as usual. I was particularly tickled by the option of an ‘Arse Port’ too.... 😂😉
Glad you enjoyed it
My favorite youtube channel by far. High class. Will be fun to watch your channel grow // Ludvig
Thanks! I appreciate it
Damn, you are the only person that I am not speeding to 1.25.
And great content
Good review as always
Thank you! Cheers!
I have been thinking about replacing my 10 year owned X-Type with an XF, but I have been put off by news of timing chain issues. Like the videos.
My brother bought one couple of weeks ago. It's got a similar front end but older interior 2013 model. Only seen it once not really had a chance to look at it properly or drive it. It's a 2.2 200bhp model can't wait to drive it when I get a chance
Thanks for the review. Great
as ever. I have 25T XF it's a great car for me
"...look like good value". They sure do and I'm sooo tempted but having never owned a Jag am very scared of the reliability stories... Keep up the great work Matt.
I own a 2018 FX x25 AWD. Much better than my previous Audi a6 and Beemer 5 series! Reliability, I would give it an 8 out of ten (check light came on a few times). Driving experience, better than the said cars I have owned! I recommend buying one with at least 1 year warranty, petrol and AWD! Great looking car!
I just bought one, 2016 Portfolio, and I love it! Except the large pillars which make it difficult to see out of sometimes. I'm getting 52+mpg.
Quality again mate, top class
Much appreciated
Just bought an Jaguar XF, 2018 model.
Very smooth and looks amazing, even tho I have the 2.0 Litre Diesel, it's no slouch.
Obsidian black colour is solid stunner, got the beige interior same as in the video.
53k Kms driven only, cost 25k Euros. Solid deal.
Rented a gen2 when on hols to the UK, drove it Scotland to Wales and back, very very nice car. Super comfortable
Very nice!
Thanks for that video! It's help me to take decission...and yes monday i am gonna pick up mine xf 2.0 diesel prestige :)
Glad I could help!
Jakub Gozdz did you end up buying your Jag? Im currently in the market for the same model but really unsure 🤷♂️
@@okaya2117 hey, I bought xf prestige with some nice extras like Digital cocpit, camera, 19 inch original rims...Look fresh and classy. Actually I'am so glad about this decision, best car I ever had. 2.0 diesel with 180 hp for Daily driving is enough. Fuel consumption like in Focus 1.6 Diesel of less :) Go for one with service book and nice interior options and You'll gonna be happy.
Good stuff keep em coming
Thanks, will do!
Brilliant, brilliant unbiased video as usual, (apart from your Juke one that is!!) I just love the XF, it is my kind of car; one of these days if I am flush I will have one! Is it just me or have Jaguar Land Rover not cheapened it a tad though from the first gen model?
Happy 100 video review, Matt! There couldn’t be a better car to film it with... Well, except for XK perhaps 👍🏻😂🐆
Very true!
Been looking at trading in my 2013 3.0 D-S Portfolio in Italian Racing Red, ivory interior (sorry), 20" black wheels, sunroof, black pack - beautiful! - but sadly the later version just doesn't do it for me, styling-wise. I could be tempted by a V6 petrol in the right colour, MPG doesn't really matter to me (retired), and what the hell, you only live once! Recently returned from a week in Cornwall, 810 miles (I'm in Lancashire), 39.1 mpg, never exceeded 95 mph, heaven knows what mpg I'd get from a petrol engine! Spud, age 72, old fart, love driving! Love your channel and your attitude.
Your Jaguar videos are spot on 👌🏼
Thanks
great to see a snapshot of two jags. where did he go.
My experience of drivers dumping an elderly Jaaaag outside the Post Office is either heading off for a new tax disc or ensuring his photo fit has been removed from the wall gallery. Great review thank you :)
Hahaha
You have indeed found your place in life. You inform, you make one laugh............what's not to love.
Thanks
Another excellent review from HPA - can we get a review on that E class too? :)
Possibly!
I've owned a 2016 F R-Sport 3.0 since 2019 and it's now at 91,000km. Honestly I can't say enough about how much I love and respect this car - been a rock sold daily driver with almost no issues outside a nagging rear camera issue and a couple leaks at 85,000km. Looks amazing, tons of power, wonderful handling, and I always look back at it when I park at the grocery store. Love modern Jags, it's just a shame they ditched the V6 and are moving to EV now - I will be hard pressed to replace this car with anything near as engaging.
Great vid
Enjoying your presentations, they stand out against so many others. Have you done a review on the Mondeo Estate? I’m particularly interested in the petrol automatic. Your thoughts please.
I’ve watched a few of your videos, It’s good you spend money on cars before selling. Many used car dealers don’t do that.
“Chino and Panama Brigade. Interior is beige, obviously.” Brilliant.
Several seconds of video of the cupholders @ 3:39! Be still, my beating heart! It’s okay, I’ve taken a screenshot and it’s now my desktop wallpaper.
I had no idea that the windows being slightly bigger would let in more light. I’m learning such a lot here.
Thanks for giving me yet another laugh, Matt.
Hahaha Glad I can help
Great review! I have a 2015 old shape XF and the new model doesn't do it for me, I am not keen on the dashboard! However, the 3.0d V6 S is pretty rare and sought after. Hopefully you get one of those at some point and review it. A definite class leader but not for the masses.
Good choice!
Nice review Matt as always mate. XF's always look better in black and in their V6 TD format. The estates/wagons are good & practical too!
I agree
Love my 2010 XFR. The 2nd best feature behind the 510 HP is Jaguar's legendary depreciation!
I was originally shopping for a 2013 XFR so I would get the 8-speed, but found a deal I couldn't pass up on a beautiful Kyanite Blue 2010.
Maybe I'm biased, but the newest models aren't as distinctive as the earlier ones - they don't look much different than many other cars.
You're not biased, you're correct about that 👍
Aye you funny as hell for the Freemason joke 😂😂😂🤣 Great video btw!
Glad you enjoyed
I went and bought one! Great and real life review
V6 as you suggested ( earlier video-funny Werthers story) andit is gorgeous. Comfortable and quick as you like. Really sensible money too...shame it is chargeable in Birmingham’s CAZ plans🙁
Another great video, I have a 2012 XF 2.2D luxury…..I’d love you see a review of that engine 🙏🏻
I've had a Mark 1 62 plate for the last 2 years and put 34k miles on it. I still think they look better inside and out than the Mark 2 only shame is the slow infotainment screen. TBF though it is Metallic Grey with Black Leather on Factory 19's so it has presence, after all it is a Jaaaaaag
Same. I would have preferred a cream leather interior to be honest, but overall I love the car. I went for the 3.0 V6 235bhp model.
Yep mines similar. It's a 12 plate premium lux in black with the black leather upholstery. The dated infotainment system is pretty sluggish and the built-in sat-nav is shocking. Still, it's no deal-breaker as it's very simple to use, and I bought the car simply for its elegant looks and incredibly luxurious interior rather than its fancy gizmos. I just use Google Maps through the phone to find my way around. Overall, despite the odd annoying thing like the hesitant ZF box and the lack of rear-seat space, It's a far nicer and more rewarding car to own than any Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, or BMW I've been in.
@@TheWhiskeyMan-rk7qv I think most people use the sat nav from their phones, I changed to Waze as its on a social media type platform and is real time as people can report on it warnings ie floods, potholes even Police, so handy on a quiet stretch of the motorway, I only use the inbuilt sat nav as a backup if im going somewhere remote or into a city with tall buildings.
@@randomxnp ... Our second car is a 68 reg Mercedes Benz A200 which has the all singing all dancing MBUX Sat-nav. I'm not overly impressed that either and find the mobile phone Sat-nav is still far quicker to respond in difficult driving scenarios, plus speed camera and heavy traffic warnings. Also, I too don't see any point in forking out £100 or more to update the Jaguar one to 2020. Especially when I can just ask Google assistant for directions via my voice, instead of fannying around on the slow 8yr old touch screen whilst not watching the road and potentially causing a motorway pile up.
Yes, in built sat-navs have come a very long way in the 15 or 20 years they've been around, but I don't think they're quite there yet. Saying that, I've heard the Audi and Tesla ones are really good.
@@randomxnp ... Yes, some of them do in the form of Apple car play & Android auto. Just hook your phone up to the infotainment system via usb, and you have Google maps on the infotainment screen. I used this feature on a rented 2016 Opel Corsa in
Alicante Spain and it was brilliant.
Going back to my Jag, I recently used the Sat-nav as an experiment to see how far the technology has come in just a few years. It probably would've been an ok system back when it was new, but in 2020 it's hideously outdated.
Hi Matt, thanks for the excellent reviews. Can you please review a Citroen DS5?
I’ve had two. They’re brilliant.
Greetings from Sweden! You're definitely one of the best on RUclips.
One of?
Tack!
I bought a 2016 XF a month ago and I love it. I don’t need a car this size but, as you say, I prefer the shape to the XE. I could have bought a similarly specced Infiniti Q50 for 5k less. But every time I leave my front door and look at it I smile and look forward to the drive ahead.
Did five or six thousand miles in a 240bhp XE and was extremely impressed. Plenty of go, lovely ride and handling and good economy. The car that stopped me hating diesels.
Had a 600km spin in an XFS with the V6 back in 2017. Was surprised at how quiet it was. Bit disappointed by that, but plenty of power for long motorway miles.
I’m after another car in the summer. I’m in two minds whether to stick to a smaller sensible hatchback or go back to my younger days & get something bigger, powerful & more luxurious before they take it all away from us. Your brilliant reviews are making me veer towards my younger days.
My dads mate had one as a certicy car I love the way they look there like if range rover made cars
I love this colour combo as it looks quite elegant, would be my personal choice as I'm in my mid 40s
Watched so many of your reviews bloody brilliant !! Have you done a review on an F Type Jaguar at all ??
Thanks! Nope, not yet. I've never had one of those. Hopefully soon!
@@HighPeakAutos well I hope you get one I would love to hear your view before I buy one 👍
There could be third option at the post office - an old guy in chinos, Panama hat and a sawn off! Again great insight into the XF, which I like, just need JLR to finish the car off and sort out that annoying engine noise.
Nice Motor . Great review . Now where's my post office savings book and balaclava !!
Hahah thanks
Good review as usual. I think that paint colour is called Caviar, - which is similar to Moroccan Red from the early to mid 1990's Jags, or at least it was called Caviar in the first generation XF. I like the colour combination on your example... and I like Werthers.
That sounds better than Oxblood
Hi Matt I once had an jaguar xj6 gold on a 1992 k plate in that colour with cream leather seats and I loved it when it’s cleaned and polished it looks really smart hope you’re well best wishes ian, are you doing a video on the supercharged Range Rover you have?
Possibly. Cheers Ian :)
I would love a jag, there good looking vehicles. Plus they’re made down the road, so it will feel nice knowing you’re supporting a British brand.
I bought the XF Rsport 2016 new in Blackberry metallic. I still only have 23K miles on it but it’s still great. I had the 2011 Xf premium with the naturally aspirated V8 and the new one is better in every way!
