Wow, the 5Series comes as standard with a lot of kit.
-cruise control
-sat nav
-wheels
-steering wheel
Come on, even a fucking Mazda2 comes with cruise control
No way, steering wheel included??
Bruno Danese OMG LOL
"Drivers of cars in this class spend so much time sitting inside" - As opposed to drivers of cars in other classes who run along the side of their cars.
I think they mean that they do a lot of driving mileage each year.
derbigpr500 how dare you mock me! I actually drive while being strapped to the roof of my car to have an al fresco feel to driving.
LMFAO
I bet you’re a 5 series fan?
I always sit on the roof.
Just bought a second hand XF Jag ....was gonna get an XF Sv8, but at 150k miles on the clock, head ruled heart and I went for the petrol 3ltr v6....under 50k on the clock, one owner...and unlike the interior of the Jag on this vid that looks like the inside of a knocking shop, the one I bought has cream leather so much much nicer place to be....the car always gets good comments from others and better yet is that sound and drive....having driven both Mercs (supercharged) and 5 series BMWs, I can’t believe I never tried a Jag before.....absolutely great car.
I've driven all mentioned cars, the XF is way better. Very reliable, comfortable yet fun to drive car. Love the interior too
Quick question, has the jag been reliable at all as I’m considering on buying one
@@eralddesa9493 Yes, so far no problems for me. I love that the car is not too electronically complex, so the chances of breaking is much lower, everything works like it should. Maintenance is not as expensive as the world makes it out to be, it’s so comfortable and amazing to drive, sound insulation is great.
I like how they say that theres a roar noise in the volvo when you cant even hear what they're saying in the jaguar
Hammare 123 Biased Brits :'D
good point
Jaguar is made in England? So they are bias against themselves?
I have a jaguar and my father has a Volvo and the jag is much quieter, the Volvo has more road noise. I always assumed it was down to tyre choice. Both are good cars.
@@xoxrazzyxox they did vote the Mercedes as number one and that isn’t British
Why do People get so angry when a car reviewer has a different opinion than themselves? They are reviewers who share their opinion, they are not the noble prize committee, so relax.
Exactly. Their opinions aren't always right it's just what they think
Because it's always BMW or some other German marque, no matter how good any other car is. One can only wonder just how thick the brown envelope was.

Well said👏👍.
I've just swapped by BMW 530d for the Volvo S90 R Design and I simply love it!! I think the ride quality is on par (although driving experience is not quite as crisp as the BMW). What through me was the sheer beauty of the exterior and genius of the interior. A much more comfortable and intuitive car by far.
threw
lol comparing a fucking volvo to a bimmer...clueless
When the new 5 series comes, we want it again.
It wasnt a fair comparison. The 5 series hasnt had an update yet. Nor has the Audi a6. In my opinion they should have done 2 videos. In the first Volvo vs Jag vs Merc. And in the second Audi a6 vs bmw 5 series (because those cars havent been refreshed)
+dnkxpwns there are to many a6 vs 5series vid lol
+tino matic vids*
its logical to make a review with the new a6,5 and the winner e class next.
Do you guys know when the new Audi A6 and the 5 series will come out?
how's she calling the merc unstylish when she's wearing bell bottoms...
the jag looks so jaaaaag
you mean Jaaaaaaag? ;)
What's that? You were speeding through a school zone and ran over a dog, in your Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag? You're free to go.
It still looks classy. Better than Merc.
BMW looking much sportier than rest of the crowd... Yes it is old, but still looks way better than other 3 cars...
The most stylish I would have to say is the S90; not in the THAT standard D4 trim, but, overall, it's the best looking!
In the flesh, the Volvo is a boat.
These two are great together, their personalities complement each other well. Loving these videos - thanks CarBuyer!
Great review. Keep doing these team reviews, it's really interesting hearing you debate.
My favorite new Volvo s90
Benimde
Xf Jaguar all day long had all these cars in the past all nice cars but for me the jag is by far the best.
Ok so I want Mercedes interior, Jag to drive, Volvo exterior and BMW gearbox please.
Have you seen the volvo's back yet ?
BMW is the best to drive. BMW drive, Mercedes engine, jag interior and Audi exterior.
S Miller I was talking from experience, I personally find BMW as a drivers car and Jaguars/Mercedes as luxury cars.
I would have Mercedes, with the infotainment from Volvo and a thousand island dressing on top please :D
Jag and BMW use the same ZF8 gearbox with virtually the same tuning. I have a 2016 XF 3.0 Supercharged and it's an amazing car.
Lol volvos the only car there that can drive itself
I love Mercedes in general but in this particular case, the Beamer is my favourite
where is Audi A6 ? You guys are Birtish well of course you will vote Jag higher than BMW & Volvo
Indeed, not having A6 is bias.
If you think reviews always automatically pick the car from their own country, why do you bother watching car reviews at all? They haven't included the Lexus GS or Maserati Ghibli either, they can't include every car.
Jag is not Brtish. Jag is owned by TATA which is indian. Jaguar now produces lots of cars in india.
I agree but, to be fair, if you compare the "face" of the BMW 3 series with the face of this Jag, you will find many similarities. I don't think it's a coincidence, and I'm a beemer...
+Marian Irmer i dont see what you mean? jaguar design is pretty generic and boring and so is the 3 series but other than the angry looking headlights, they don't have many similarities
I love Mercedes but it comes a close second to the Bimmer. The F10 is sublime
Congrats from Spain. Just a great video.
You make a great road test couple.
Always sceptical when a brit reviews or ranks brit cars, I would always pick the Volvo over the Jaguar
me too
All day long. Jags and Land rovers are always praised beyond deserve in England.
Owned volvo s80 and jag xf.
It is not even close. Jag is miles better car .
Much much better to drive. There is no chance I would buy volvo over Jaguar
Also, all car reviews could be better, if they added a part for the lighting. Now there are so much tech and style with the lighting in those cars, they deserve part of the review. I know some people who get confused between two cars, then make the pick based on how good or stylish the lighting looks.
Great video! You should do more videos with these 2 presenters bantering off each other! Keep up the good work!
i think the bmw is the best looking. They nailed the lights
same
I love the BMW 520D m-sports. My family they have bimmers and only my dad has an Audi A6. The BMW isn't looking old, it looks absolutely stunning in gloss black paint job and you can get the black piano veneer for £1800 which enhances the interior. It looks aggressive like the jaguar where as the Mercedes looks like a pussycat that too shy to express itself.
yeah m sport does wonders to 5 series.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
All good cars, no denying that. Their final choice I felt was spot on, I love Jag's, but the interior of modern Merc's is something else.
Jaguar drives really well , looks great, it's nothing less than the winner
I got an e class 220d longwheelbase version here in India and the car is just superb. Test drive the bmw 5 series and Audi A6 but the Merc really takes your breath away. The 5 series is fun to drive but the Eclass offers a lot more space.
Thanks for showing the Jaguar XF and Volvo S90.
Hello, are bmw and audi selling their lwb 5 series and A6 there?
James is getting a lot better nowadays. Keep improving!
Id go jag, merc volvo then beamer. Been in all of them except the volvo and the jag was the nicest ride and best looker
I love Ginny, she's a fantastic reviewer who doesn't get enough praise. She should start her own channel like Mat
That chic is so 🔥 😍 . I own a w212 e350 evantgard sport and love it. It's no sports car but I love the interior and driving it on a long trip is beautiful it's better built than the five BMW's I've owned . Go the benz..
s90 for me, but with d5 or t8 engine
Well the next gen audi a6 and BMW 5 series are in the starting block. When they hit the road, please make a remake of this.
Good review for someone looking for an exec saloon. Thanks for keeping it free.
They decided the merc won even before testing the cars, very superficial comparison. I would rate 1.s90 2. xf 3. e-class 4.5 series. The s90 stands out from all points of view except maybe for the lack of a v6 diesel (which most people won't have considered anyway). Let's see when the new a6 and 5-series come next year. Particularly the 5 series interior....
So it is natural to You decide, ...otherwise it is superficial!?
@@drluiggi Something you don't like? It's his opinion. He's right. You can disagree all you like.
For all of you saying where is this car and that car did you not read the title of the video. It clearly states Mercedes E-Class vs BMW 5 Series vs Jaguar XF vs Volvo S90.
It does not mention Audi A6, Ford Mondeo or Porsche Panamera. Is that too hard to understand.
Considering the age, the BMW is absolutely the best looking car in the segment. Can't wait to see the new one, with new interior, new engines and lighter architecture.
😂😂😂new beaver teeth
O God another fan boy.
Great efforts and many thanks to you both
The only thing they can actually think of to say against the BMW is that it's not as new as the others - seriously, that is not a valid criticism if it's better looking and still performing on a par with the competition.
However ...
Merc - £45k
BMW - £36k
Jag - £38k
Volvo - £35
Hmm...
Not that I ever thought the S90 was ugly, but it looks damn good next to the other cars. And I used the think the E-Class was the best looking, but I actually don't think it looks good next to the others. So weird how putting cars next to each other can change my opinion so vastly.
About to buy a 2015 Jaguar XF Sport supercharged 6 cyl for $16,000. You were right to be scared about depreciation xD
It'd be pretty interesting to re-do this test with the new 5 series, Thou my fav Is always The E class
JUST MY OPINION : THE MERCEDES DOESN'T HAS A VERY GREAT DESIGN AND EVEN THE PREVIOUS E CLASS HAD A BETTER DESIGN BUT IF U COMPARE BOTH THE NEW ONE ACTUALLY STANDS OUT CAUSE IT LOOKS SO COSTLY AND ELEGANT , IT LOOKS MUCH MORE PREMIUM
I'm biased towards BMW but my list would be:
1. E-class
2. S90
3. BMW
4. Jaguar
Why is the sound and video not synchronized?
Cuz carbuyer sucks nowadays
yeap. realised that too
Will there be a Review off the Lexus GS Facelift?
Doing +- 40 000Km / year mostly highway. I'd like to have confort, not having noise such as wind, and good reliability !
Which one these 2015 diesel 6 cylinders 100 000Km cars would you recommand and why : 5 Series - E class - Audi A6 - CLS ?
Thank you for your answers
Florian
Now you can update the review including the new 5 Series, and the A6 that´s missing on this.
should do another review with the new 5 series, audi a6, lexus gs , and maserati ghibli... =)
different cars for different buyers, nice review
18 minutes and 4 seconds of pretending to be friends. BAHAHAHAH
to me the e-class, 5-series and S90 seemed equally quiet/noisy. the Jaguar seemed to be noisier than those 3 yet they praised it for how quiet it was while the Volvo got marked down for noise though to me it was the same as the Mercedes and bmw.you can also get the BMW with auto braking and night vision to help spot pedestrians and animals at night.
jaguar is the most fun to drive car among all these... and jaguar has now ingenium engine which is even more powerful
I would never choose for british engineering. Trabant is even more reliable.
Notforyou Dito my old BME M750i went wrong more times over my 3 year ownership than my Jag XJR which I’ve have for nearly 4 years now.
nice and comprehensive trial, expected a more detailed conclussion ..
This and Motor Trend are some of the best..
Jaguar is the best car among the 4 to drive!Jag for peeps who have good taste.
Like the BMW 5 series
More of these please!
After a very long search around places live availablecar etc which is a good place for rummaging we decided on the E class line estate, the magic carpet ride that you dont want to get off.
The Jag above the rest.
I would love to rock that boat 😉
I hadn't a doubt at the beginning, which ever way you look at it, the merc was always the better one :)
ginny puts all these in the shade !
7:17 what does he means by: “even though it’s a little bit rough at idle, but once on the move it’s pretty smooth” ??
Great test, but please use metric units as well for reference.
Watch carwow it's better
A hundred times better
So what are you doing here?
dschonsie good question
+aabidam i'm watching carbuyer AND carwow, beside many other car channels.
Oh wow...it really isn't better...
Please use metric units as well for reference. Matt was good at that :-)
Noise level is considerable higher in the Jaguar, compared to E-class and 5 series. At lest in this video.
seems like lots of Brit car shows use this stretch of road for their videos.. is it some sort of a closed test track? i've been wondering for a while now.
They are getting better at their reviews.
I don't get the fixation on "sporty"
You want a sports car, buy that. If I want a "luxury saloon" , then I would like it to be luxurious right?
For me, it's wanting something comfortable that you can also feel connected to. It doesn't have to be a sports car, just dynamic enough to enjoy. Sports cars are too focused for some
what a great review!
By listening to the audio of the video i heard so much noise when they drove the jaguar XF and the volvo was heard like the quietest with the MERC WTF?? And the jaguar does not look anything special the volvo is like an alien between these cars and the nearly 7 years old bmw looks better than a year old jaguar, he mentioned that the xf has less emissions but he did not mention the volvos MPG at all
MASERATI WHAT ? JIBLI ?? It's GHIBLI God damn it !!
but the Ghibli looks like a jibli its awful should be a jiblet c**p interior cramped rear seats and loosely related to the Chrysler 300c
Be that as it may, but it still mops the floor with "zee germans" when it comes to engine, handling and style.
arr eet bmw and audi i agree not mercedes is just the standard for executive cars there is way too much cheap plastic in the jiblet yea it does have some decent petrol engines from ferrari and can keep up with bmw in the bends but its way over priced for what it is the space in the back is less than a 3 series its really cramped for its size.
more like ghiblets lol
Oskar Arif HAHA!!! :)
Ha last time I saw Ginny she was reviewing a Volvo v70r on men and motors in 1998 she still looks tidy and the car does too !
Nice they admit every car is good in the end. Volvo's best inside and others have things to like, but 5er for me. Every time I see it, especially in good spec, caughts my attention. Will be missed when gone..
BMWs interiors are so boring.
Its called minimalistic elegant, you wouldn't understand it Al Bundy...
I prefer the Mercs any day.
Merc interiors is for teenagers and youtube 'review' confirmation bias. BMW is where simplicity wins. Too bad they didn't show Audi. They have the most mature and calmly elegant design right now.
It's not really minimalistic elegance. The Volvo has a minimalist interior, with the straight lines, the big screen and the serenity of it all. In fact, Scandinavian design (which the S/V90 cabin is a brilliant example of) has 'minimalistic elegance' written all over it.
BMW interiors are mostly boring because they look too much alike. That said, I personally love the stretched-out lines of the 6-Series cabin.
appelpower1 I would like the volvo interior but the problem is too much dependence on central touch screen. not a big fan of touch screens. despite looking 'cool', the lack of tactile feedback means one has to take eyes off the road and look at the screen to do a task. that increases risk. single or even multi function buttons and knobs are better at this since one can feel his/her way into the right button or knob keeping eyes on road the whole time.
I prefer BMW and jag/Volvo. The only impressive thing about the E-class is the dashboard, it's just not as aggressive looking as the others. Mercedes is a comfort cruiser whereas the BMW keeps you attached to the road and gives you the proper feel of the type of road your driving at. BMW doesn't look old at all. It looks stunning the the black gloss paint job. All the people calming that BMW interiors are boring are wrong. They have quality. Coming from a family that owns BMWs and the 5 series as well. The whole whole cars cabin is covered in subtle leather. You won't find a single cheap plastic feel anywhere. I hope they don't mess up the shape of the new 5 series.
Excellent comparison review.
don't know if it was just a glitch but the audio was a little out of sync and the video was a little jumpy.
Volvo leathers look like they ate on another level compared to the others!
nice video. entertaining and informative.
Buy a Jag and you'll never be sorry. Especially if you want to stand out from the crowd of Volvo, BMW & Mercs. I've owned 2 Jags with never a problem always reliable & fun to drive.
🤦🤣
nice review indeed.
All of these are great.
they were just purring for the Jaaaaag =)
Years ago everyone want a bmw for power, driving fun etc. Now with a speed cameras, we want comfort, refinement luxury and infotainment, screens and tech! Merc does that job great, quiet, comfortable and well equipped... just sort a good deal out! Take your pic
Hilarious the first thing they support about the E class after picking it first is the simple fact thatg it has safety features. If you jokes would've gotten the S90 Inscription, it would blow the Eclass out of the water that you have 10,000 pounds worth of add ons... More safety features and technology. I've been looking at comparisons all day and everyone always choses a base S90 compared to higher trims and packages on other vehicles. Not a fair comparison and didn't even show pricing..................
Fiat panda all day!!!!!
10:28 iPhone about to fall out.
Where's the a6
For me this is between the S90 and the 5 Series. I like the BMW exterior it, I think it looks better that the new E-Class and that Jag. The interior of the S90 trumps the BMW and all cars here. It beautiful and elegant, not OTT like the Merc's. The Jag's interior is the worst looking.
if you're thinking of buying any of these cars with your own money I would highly recommend you try and hire them for at lease a today, so after living with them for a day you may have a much more balanced opinion on them,
and haven't driven them all for myself many times I would agree with them and put Mercedes at the top.
however I don't rate that Jaguar anywhere near as much as they do, in fact I don't really like it
quality of the Interiors not that great and engines not really that smooth either. just my opinion but I would definitely try before I buy not just have a car salesman's trip around the block.
Why did they choose the RSport jag with the tacky interior. Even the basic Prestige had a better look inside
I love both Jaguar and volvo
Have had E classes for 25yrs. Have had Volvos too. BMWs have never appealed to me unfortunately. Or Jaguars. The choice of these four? Difficult.
I had an A6 for 13 years, then I bought an XF. I loved my Audi, now I love my Jaguar, too.
They are all great but at the end I would just go with Maserati Ghibli, regardless its flaws.
Excellent review
Mercedes E Class is probably the best car, but with the £10,000 option package, witch is what they were driving....Jaguar all the way for me....
Of course the English car reviewers say the Jaguar has the best looks
