I love how these cars are really different. - Audi - as opposed to mid 2000s, they do not float anymore, but actually you can feel what is happening on the road. Good all rounder, tries to do everything a little bit - classic VW tactics. Make car that is decent in all areas. - BMW - sporty ride, fun to drive and engaging, good for people who enjoy driving and going into turns just a little bit faster. - Mercedes - this is what you would call an Executive car. Luxury, comfort, quietness, basically a budget S class. I love the style of new Mercedes cars. Is Mercedes still considered brand for people of age 40 / 50 +? Because I feel like it is a little unfair, they have such good looking cars. I agree with that review 100%, but I would choose BMW for myself since I enjoy sporty ride. I do not feel like sitting in floating quiet cabin.

Great review! I've been looking to upgrade from my 328i and you answered all the questions. I was all set to go with a 535i Msport but then I saw the E class and was just mesmerized by its looks. The more research I do the more I'm starting to lean towards the E class.
I test drove all three of these. The Audi A6 was the least of my favorite. Even though I planned on staying with Audi as I was upgrading my A4 I just hated the drive. It's has a beautiful interior but drove the worst out of the 3. Honestly to didn't really give MB a chance as I hate the way it looks. The interior was so intrusive with a huge digital display that screams "hey look at me I'm modern and hip!" Maybe my tastes haven't "matured" enough to appreciate MB. The BMW 5 has a solid interior and great exterior. Very little plastic and what is plastic feels very solid. The drive was the best out off all of them in my opinion!
Thank you, hundred percent agree about merc two large screens stuck together doesnt look "Luxurious" especially when you see the gap behind the screens..
A fair verdict, and I prefer BMW in general amongst the 3 Brands, but the new E-Class has taken the first(next) step which naturally is a step higher up and quite a step it is. The Interior is a marvel in design with character, no other interior looks like it, even slightly. And the exterior oozes of class, history and gentleman stability - Well Done Mercedes!. The AUDI in this trim in fact looks fairly cool and composed exterior wise - This A6 size fits the AUDI DNA rather well, enough surface to gain some toned down mix of power and minimalistic elegance and good stance. The BMW surely gains in attraction when it drives - it simply looks better moving than standing still - But to shine it´s good drivability it needs more sporty and slightly larger wheels. Seeing forward to a review of the next gen.
Mercedes looks so elegant and materials are so noble, metal on the doors and attention to detail, compared to the other two, it's like is twice as expensive. Would go with my eyes closed for the Merc if I had to choose.
But it feels cheap as shit and squeaky everywhere...get old fast and boring. All that glitters is not gold I've been in them all and the BMW feels like it's 10K LBS but drives like it's 2k lbs
The Mercedes looks way better internally, but the metal is actually plastic with chrome coating. Mercedes are awful for cost saving deception internally now
ding dong that's your opinion but I don't think they are remember not everyone likes BMW or Mercedes but still the BMW and the merc. are nice cars though looks appeal to everyone in different ways I think the Mercedes was not all that to look at they seem to over design the the car and tend to spoil the look of it give me your feed back I like to hear your views and opinion thankyou and peace out there
My dad is a Uber driver here in the UK. He's been searching for a new car now and came up with 2017 Mercedes E300, 2015 Volkswagen CC, 2015 Audi A6. I prefer that my dad goes with the E Class due to keeping its price more than the other cars and the comfort is outstanding.

It is interesting to watch after 8 years. I feel like the Audi, despite the initial critique of their design, has aged the least of the brands and that is both for A4 and A6 lines.
Something I've noticed is that Merc have really upped their interiors and infotainment systems. Even though they're nowhere near the best drive, it does make them feel so much more... Can't wait (and I hope) BMW and Audi up their game.
Audi have been updating quite a bit of the interior we have a 2014 A6 black edition and there are around 6 changes I can think of with the interior like the gear shifter the door trim and the air conditioning controls as well as the new touch pad, when BMW facelifted the 5 series they only changed the bumpers and lights that's why the A6 still looks modern inside
As a twenty-year-old looking for a used german executive car, my biggest priority is fun haha! So, it looks like I'll be buying a preowned f10 this summer! I'm super excited to own my first BMW, summer can't come any sooner.
15 years ago, the 5 Series was probably the most fun, especially the E39, which was probably the best car of the new millennium. However, nothing is more refined than a Mercedes-Benz, and no Mercedes-Benz is purer, save the S-Class, than the E-Class. The W123, W124 and W211 are legends of their times. AMG kept things interesting, but the M5 was probably the most desired drivers Executive Class car. I believe that changed with the pre-facelift W212 E63 AMG. The model was still bested by the 5er in performance, as it was only in rear wheel drive. However, that particular E63 was faster, more powerful, and it proved to be better that the E60/E61 M5 in overall refinement. The real turning point was the facelift W212 E63 AMG S Model. Now with optional 4MATIC, the car was more confident and fun to drive than the M5, now being the F10. It was also better looking (IMO), was still more powerful and was now quicker off the line with 4MATIC. The W213 E Class vs the F10 and upcoming new 5er will be interesting to watch, not only from a performance standpoint, but from a technical standpoint. The W213 is the most aerodynamic car in it's class, is obviously the most technically advanced, but now there will be not one, but two AMG models that BMW will have to fight off: The E43 and still to be debuted E63. As for the Audi A6/S6, I've always considered the car as a drivers car. Audi has, naturally, been AWD, therefore more confident. Audi is getting sportier than it has been, and is catching up to MB in terms of technology. It was be exciting to see the next A6 come out. Obvious winner is the E-Class. A car company that has successfully migrated from ultra luxury saloons to full on sport sedans , while maintaining it's refined driving and innovation, among other things, deserves a number one spot.
This 5 series was introduced in 2010. It's hard to say it's fair comparison. But still keeps it up great with the rivals. We need to wait for an update of car
Which between the Audi A6 40 TDI and the BMW 520d is better soundproofed? And which one gives a greater sense of solidity (when closing the doors, etc)?
Another fine review, Mat. (You should've been on the shortlist for Top Gear IMHO!) One question - you usually make a point of mentioning the offset steering wheel in Mercedes' cars, most recently in the review of the current C-Class. Do I assume, then, that since you haven't mentioned it here, Mercedes have finally succeeded in converting to RHD without this annoying compromise? Many Thanks.
Ive owned all of these and now drive in a full option 3l petrol a6 from 2016 and i have to say that its the most fun out of the 3 its fast as hell and luxurious with the air suspension
In my country, The base model Audi A6 with 3.0L engine costs $75,000 The base model BMW 5 series costs around $145,000 The base model Mercedes E class costs around $175,000 What would be best to buy *Carwow* ??
The a6 is one hell of a car in this generation, i have the 2011 a8 and even compared to that its amazing in its own way. I would like to drive the s6 of this generation
The reason for the hard plastic at the back in the merc is because that's the place where people's feet tends to rub while scooting across the seat. Hard plastic is easier to clean.
Why isn't the UK getting (more) petrol engines like you mention about the Audi? I noticed the you weren't getting any petrol engines with the S90 and V90.
Because fuel is super expensive here so, because the diesels can achieve significantly higher mpg figures they don't bother selling many petrol engines.
So people who trow 50 000 euros for a car care for saving 1 liter per 100 km ...i can never understand that ..and diesel engines are more expensive to buy and are so much more expensive for maintain
With UK fuel prices once you are driving over a certain number of miles a year (I don't know what this magic number is, soo lets say 15,000) it becomes more economical to drive a diesel.
but if you have a 50 000 euros to trow on a car why would you care about little savings after few years ..and if you count how much common rail diesel engines is more expensive to maintain i dont thing that there is any savings ..and you stuck with tractor engine
+Jack Costigan Yeah, it's the same here in The Netherlands with the high fuel prices, there is also a break even point of I think around 12k-15k kilometres per year, but people who drive less than that amount of kilometres, are more economical with petrol engines, but they still don't offer petrol engines in the UK? Seems a bit odd. We in The Netherlands get almost all of the petrol engines I think.
love the Audi's exterior, the Mercedes's interior and the BMW drivability... Personally I'd take the Audi due to its everyday usability and nice exterior, but the BMW is way more fun to drive (especially compared to the FWD Audi) and the Merc makes you feel royal even on small trips to the store for milk! it seems Audi managed to come somewhere between the sporty BMW and the luxurious Mercedes which makes it more of a mass market car for everyone, but at the end of the day, you have to admire and respect all three brands for staying true to their fans and innovating the automotive world at the same time... Love and admire all three, but gun to my head?... Audi...
A car of that size never feels sporty. I tend to think of sporty as light weight and none of these cars are really sporty. I own a Lexus GS and it is just smooth, reliable and clean to drive and yet have people telling me about the driving experience of BMW and I truly do not get it.
+Kevin Daskal Mercedes the same? only C and Eare similar and only from exterior and only from back side. A, B, CLA, CLS, S, G, SUVs....not even similar cars....now look at audis....especially from A4 to A8.
The A4 and A6 are the only ones that have similar interiors, while the A8's is nowhere near similar in aesthetics. When I look at Mercs from C class to S class, and aside from some SUVs, I see the same round vents with curvy flow and a long dash screen going across. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a wonderful design, but the similarities are still there for all to see. I used to own an A8L and the interior was a lot different in terms of button placements, ventilation positions, and all around design and materials used from the S4 and S6/S7 models that I test drove. The word "boring" that you used, I would assume would be more prominent in a more luxurious setting as opposed to a sporty environment, and would be more at home describing a luxury car's interior such as Mercs. I personally don't find it as "boring" as the BMW's interior, but beauty lies in the beholder's eyes, and what one may find "boring" others may not... It's all about differentiating, and I'm glad not all car manufactures use only one design, or one concept when implementing new models.
I never thought I'd say this, but I feel the Audi is the best of the bunch, despite being old. (also here in Canada, it comes standard with Auto, and gas engines)
and also they looks like the shrunken versions of their bigger brothers; 7 series, S-class and A8 yeah because thats the point -,-, luxury comes in different size and class lol
Good thing in my eyes. This way luxury is available at lower prices and people that want exclusivity will shop elsewhere anyways. Other than that you do notice the difference in interior quality when you campare an a4/a6 to an a8 or a 3/5 series to a 7 series or c/e class to an s class. I can't see what's wrong with that from a consumer standpoint.
+MS there is a good reason for: If you look At IAA, Genf, Detroid etc you See that modern Cars look more and more similar, also the "cheaper" car producers and the upper segment of BMW, Audi and Mercedes try to Be silhoutted against the others.. Sad for the E and S class, 5 and 7 series and A6 and A8 drivers who can't Show Off that much anymore..
I've driven both, personally I prefer the BMW 5 series over the Mercedes E-class. But you can't go wrong with either. I never liked Audi, but to each their own.
I don't know, but it looks to me it's not right to compare BMW's interior with Mercedes's, maybe because of the version or something. There 5 series that looks really nice inside, with nice colored leather and dash...
Great channel. I appreciate your in depth reviews that aren't horribly formulaic like some others I've seen. Cheers. Keep up the good work. The A 6 just looks too much like a Volkswagen. Last gen A6 and A8 were stunners relatively speaking.
Hey Mat, I'm really enjoying the many reviews so far. I would really like your opinion on the BMW 530i e60 2008, I recently bought one, and it's absolutely fantastic in my opinion. keep up frequent uploads.
Front wheel drive in an Audi A6? Come on.... :( A Audi must come with Quattro AWD If not you should rather buy a golf instead of an Audi, because its much cheaper and also has FWD
best seat ive ever sitted is bmw 3 series individual, they was so comfort only better is new 7 series, but Daimler uses shittiest leather on market people complain lot of them
I was on the bmw bandwagon for over 10 years. I was going to get another one until the salesman I purchased 3 bmw's from tried to screw me over. so I went across the highway to the Mercedes dealer. big difference in cars. Mercedes is all about a luxurious, classy experience. for over 10k less than the 5 series I wanted to get, I got my first Mercedes. I never checked out a Benz before. IMHO, the bmw's interior leaves a lot to be desired. it's average. but the MB's interior is impressive! I'm glad that salesman tried to screw me. lol Because I'm very happy with the e300. you may get better handling with a bmw, but the overall experience with the MB is simply blissful. This is my first, but won't be the last.
the S90s tail light designer should be hanged. Just too ugly from the back and yet the german cars are more popular and more headturning. The E class does look like C class but the ride is the best i have ever had. It's just so quiet and so relaxing.

The Audi is better in both.

Thank you. 👍🏻
Mercedes- BMW- Audi, Jaguar - Land Rover, Porsche, Maserati.
How about Audi's optional air suspention? Is it significantly less comfy than Merc's?
Oh the A6 looks like the A8 ? what a surprise. Like not all Audis look exactly the same...
Ghassan Halboni and bmw's as well
Appreciate your in-depth looks and ...humor.
+carwow the bmw is definitely going to get you to a meeting first cause you never have to use indicaters and there's no speed limit on bmw cars aswell
Well done mate!!! You were detailed and covered the most important aspects. Thanks!!!!
Another fine review, Mat. (You should've been on the shortlist for Top Gear IMHO!)
One question - you usually make a point of mentioning the offset steering wheel in Mercedes' cars, most recently in the review of the current C-Class.
Haha, in Denmark the e-class starts at 90.000 pounds!
Of course the new E class is the best because it's new, it is going to be a challenge for BMW and Audi to match this with the new 5 series and A6.
In my country,
The base model Audi A6 with 3.0L engine costs $75,000
The base model BMW 5 series costs around $145,000
The base model Mercedes E class costs around $175,000
What would be best to buy *Carwow* ??
You live in AUDIenia or what? XD
+Darius Remington lol
Very big taxes on all cars!
+Gamer Doctor May I ask which country?
Pakistan Josh Justin
The a6 is one hell of a car in this generation, i have the 2011 a8 and even compared to that its amazing in its own way. I would like to drive the s6 of this generation
"Like an s class" all mercy all twins now...which really suck for s class owner. Coming around a Corner or direct at you, you can't tell them apart...
The reason for the hard plastic at the back in the merc is because that's the place where people's feet tends to rub while scooting across the seat. Hard plastic is easier to clean.
Gonna miss the BMW 550i.. Just a random V8 for the program!
Please, write what colour specification have the Audi A6 in this video! Thanks!
BMW- 3,4,5 series, Mercedes- S,Cls class
MERCEDES is BENCHMARK..
A Class over the rest..
Why is this unlisted?
+bodrulm1 becuase we don't want you to overdose on carwow videos. You'll end up all blue and white.
carwow ha! share the love!
what does unlisted mean?
Monde Fezile Dlomo It's not listed under the main CarWow youtube channel and it doesn't appear on search results. You can only get here through a link
love the Audi's exterior, the Mercedes's interior and the BMW drivability...
I own a Lexus GS and it is just smooth, reliable and clean to drive and yet have people telling me about the driving experience of BMW and I truly do not get it.
audi is boring, all the same.
So by your terms, the BMW and Mercs are also boring, considering they're also "all the same" cept for the SLS and i8...
Honestly they all look like stretched versions of their smaller brothers; 3 series, C class and A4
+MS I do too.
and also they looks like the shrunken versions of their bigger brothers; 7 series, S-class and A8
yeah because thats the point -,-, luxury comes in different size and class lol
Good thing in my eyes. This way luxury is available at lower prices and people that want exclusivity will shop elsewhere anyways. Other than that you do notice the difference in interior quality when you campare an a4/a6 to an a8 or a 3/5 series to a 7 series or c/e class to an s class. I can't see what's wrong with that from a consumer standpoint.
How does a 5 series look anything like a 3 series??
+MS there is a good reason for: If you look At IAA, Genf, Detroid etc you See that modern Cars look more and more similar, also the "cheaper" car producers and the upper segment of BMW, Audi and Mercedes try to Be silhoutted against the others..
Sad for the E and S class, 5 and 7 series and A6 and A8 drivers who can't Show Off that much anymore..
I know this video is old and so the newer versions weren't out but it pains me to see you compared the new E-Class to the old 5 Series and old A6 😔
why compare cars with different configurations? thumbs down buddy
Agree 100%
exactly
Obeckk They can only review car which the company gives and so it is extremely hard to get the equivalent trim levels.
I've driven both, personally I prefer the BMW 5 series over the Mercedes E-class. But you can't go wrong with either. I never liked Audi, but to each their own.
"mercedes offers good head"
xBuzz996 oohhh yeah
I don't know, but it looks to me it's not right to compare BMW's interior with Mercedes's, maybe because of the version or something. There 5 series that looks really nice inside, with nice colored leather and dash...
A6 is clearly the best looking.
Dumb
This channel should have 5 million subs.
3:50 Mercedes offers good head looooool
Hahahahaha
One of the best car reviews i've seen in the last 4 years or so! Great job!!!
the black edition doesn't even have a chrome grill haha
My thoughts exactly hahaha 😂
+Jack Costigan great jacks think alike haha
+Jack Caskie all the great people of the planet are named Jack. Jack Mandela, Jack Gates, Jack Ali, Jack Bryant. I mean the list goes on 😂😂
+Jack Costigan jack ali :DD
+Jack Costigan what about Mats. It was my bloody joke!
your website is one of the best i have seen
Comfort Mercedes > Audi > BMW
Sports BMW > Audi > Mercedes
Luxury Mercedes > Audi > BMW
All round Audi > Mercedes > BMW
🤷🏻♂️
Great channel. I appreciate your in depth reviews that aren't horribly formulaic like some others I've seen. Cheers. Keep up the good work. The A 6 just looks too much like a Volkswagen. Last gen A6 and A8 were stunners relatively speaking.
Yea 30k worth of extras on the merc. I thought that car looked too good for the price. Add some extras to the bmw and it will beat it
5:36 V8 in the S6? isn't it a V6TT in the S6?
Eh? No its a 4,0 V8 TFSI.. The new or old S4/S5 had a 3,0 V6 TFSI. :)
(SIngel Turbo, not Twin)
***** oohh yeah thats how it was, thought it was the same engine in all S models
Hang on wheres the XF?
German cars...
+Scuf Records lol
the XF is a good car, but really? you think it can even compete with the Mercedes?
the E39 5 series will always be the best executive car of all time.
Neutrally, from this video it seems like they're ranked as
1. Mercedes E Class
2. Audi A6
3. BMW 5 series
The S6 would rape the e class and 5 series
S6 would be compared to the e43 amg and bmw bmw 540i, the S6 would rape them in the ass
And if you want to compare the E63s and 760li, you can compare it to the Porsche panamera turbo s
Oh in that case, the Bugatti will rape them both
@@fairraffles jeez mate no need to hate bmw or merc that much
Hey Mat, I'm really enjoying the many reviews so far.
I would really like your opinion on the BMW 530i e60 2008, I recently bought one, and it's absolutely fantastic in my opinion. keep up frequent uploads.
The Mercedes is the best but I'd go for the Audi all day!
Volvo s90 inscription is better
Why not use the same year models?
Mercedes and his cockpit with 2-3 (cheap) Tablets joined together
Well said
The Truth it say that others dont use Tablets inside
The Truth for few months it will come new A6 and new BMW 5
+The Truth No
The Truth E -class is not best selling cars in that segment
I'm looking at buying a 2017 e 350d so this review was very helpful.
Audi is best
What a dream never come true
evokki0075 coming from a bmw driver that can’t drive in a straight line or even launch😂😂
Pro
ZTMMR9K - lol how can you guess that he/she is a bmw fanboy... bcz that shit is fucking overrated for no good reason
I like Audi but this test mercedes won since it is the older a6 not the newer
hi pal.did u make any video audi a6 vs bmw 5 race
Front wheel drive in an Audi A6?
Come on.... :(
A Audi must come with Quattro AWD
If not you should rather buy a golf instead of an Audi, because its much cheaper and also has FWD
Can u do the skoda octavia on this channel
bmw change your leather seats they are shit same with dash materials. ive seen better in chevy
True that
Not rlly
They've always been shit. Look at a used 10 year old BMW seat, they're FUCKED. The leather doesn't even look or feel good. It's too "waxy" looking.
best seat ive ever sitted is bmw 3 series individual, they was so comfort only better is new 7 series, but Daimler uses shittiest leather on market people complain lot of them
Well i dont think so i got 320i and it got no cheap plastic? Its good ans hard plastic notone audi uses or should i say what comes from vw
Talk about the a6 getting a quarto can get the Benz in 4matic and the beamer has something similar as well. will set you back another 5 to 7 K
Mercedes.. The best driving experience👍👍👍
In Canada the e class has a desinigo leather option that costs nearly 8000 dollars
Ill take the audi cause i love its styling and interior
My Fathers A6 is on 20s on the Sport suspension and I find it rather smooth but sporty!
Who drives BMW knows which is the best!
Denis Papinov bmw is the best
However edited this, cut down on the background music while Mat is talking!
I like the audi but it's so expensive
I'd rather have the new Volvo S90.
S90 looks horrible from the back
A lot of people buy or talk well of BMW /Mercedes just to fit in.
That V90 though :)
The V90 lights are perfection. So is the S90 but the back lights look a bit bad :|
the S90s tail light designer should be hanged. Just too ugly from the back and yet the german cars are more popular and more headturning. The E class does look like C class but the ride is the best i have ever had. It's just so quiet and so relaxing.
I think Mat should be added to the new Top Gear. He is a legend and is fun to watch
