  • Well, back from holiday, and I'd like to thank all who wished me a great holiday!
First a visit to see John and Davey, then back to see the 'Plumber"
I thought I was just throwing some ducts in to take the services, turns out it's a little more detailed than that.
I'll be surprised if there is a more detailed explanation on RUclips about water supplies, waste, pipe type, heating options and more.......
My mate Paul, dropped by finally😉, to offer his advice on everything to do with the water, heating it and using it for washing.
This whole series is sort of a vlog, tutorial and life documentary in one, two of my longest friends, a whole load of advice and more!
I hope you enjoy and below are your links😊

Turns out I have stage 3 colon cancer!!! WTAF!!
I had other symptoms too and finally after arguing with quacks I got a colonoscopy back in June where they found a tumor and then got all results back!! So now just waiting on treatments and making lifestyle changes (diet etc)... So fellas if you notice changes and have other symptoms GET IT CHECKED!!!
Thanks for the videos Liam im really enjoying this series as its something i want to do when I'm all sorted!!!

I would personally just bring your 110 mm pipe in to your wall cavity then boss your sink and shower in to it if you're putting your shower tray on a riser kit. With it being a granny flat though mate i would definitely consider putting your shower tray on the floor. Just bring your shower waist in the floor in the rough area put kingspan around it then just concentrate the last bit in when you set your tray. Looking well mate very tidy job👍👍

Informative video. One 110 waste with Air Admittance Valve within the cavity (above height of sink waste, as mentioned) will do the trick. Done this numerous times without any issues. Good to catch up with John & Davie, could make this an occasional standalone vid. At my own place I fitted an electric instant water heater within my utility sink unit (in annex building) and it works a treat 😀

My 2 pence worth, we built exactly the same thing and your pressure will 100% drop when either the house or the annex uses the water. We ended up getting a 33mm main bought to the house and a separate meter fitted for the annex with its own pipe feed from the street. Cost a couple of grand, but fixed the problem. Also a small combi boiler would combat all the issues of a 9kw shower and a 3kw water heater, which are inconvenient to use and don’t make for comfortable usage, especially if the pressure drops, not to mention the power being heavily used (sometimes the lights even dip when you turn a shower on). A small combi would cost £800 ish quid. Clears the issue of 2 different kinds of heaters, more to go wrong. Also I would recess the shower waste pipe in to the concrete pad so the shower try can sit on the floor rather than up on a boxed in platform

If they didn't replace the tensioner the mechanic should be at fault for not completing the full job. If the tensioner was replaced and it failed months later the parts supplier/manufacturer should be held liable for supplying a faulty part and the mechanic should be compensated from his supplier after repairing your vehicle at no further cost to you. But of course these things are never that simple as no one wants the blame or to lose money

    Hi very interesting video
On the drains, it's always best to bring your foul drains outside before they combine otherwise you may need to have a double seal manhole chamber internally, not best
Durgo valve essential but ensure access available, if possible use one and link the 110 diameter pipes together with smaller diameter pipes and bosses say 1.5 inch vents
Hot water look at the phase change heat batteries by Sunamp, uk company can heat with immersion or heat pump and because of heat density might fit under kitchen work top tiny water storage (just the volume of pipework in heat exchanger) so compliant for water regs, can use time of use electricity if no heat pump incorprate blender on top to reduce outgoing temp of about 55c to 48c prevents scolding saves on costs for big cable for shower and instant heaters shower and heater costs - worth a look

51:52 it is beset to run 3 separate 4" drain line to an inspection chamber and not tee in any of them in your slab, a building inspector probably wouldn't pass it if you connected waste pipes to the waste pipe from your toilet in the slab, if your having a stub stack at the back of your toilet like you said you could boss off that above ground for your basin and shower but not in the slab, but then your have to make sure you had a fall on the shower waste pipe

Liam, the concentration of Lead (in water) is measured in either, ug/location (micrograms per litre) or less correctly as ppb (parts per billion). That latter unit (ppb) isn't particularly helpful as Lead is much more dense than Water. Before ripping out any Lead pipework, it would be worth checking with Yorkshire Water to see if they are dosing Orthophosphate - which significantly reduces the solubility of Lead in water. As far as I'm aware, many Water Authorities still dose this chemical to minimise the issues of Lead pipes in domestic installations due to there still being many old properties that have Lead pipes.

@@thegardenroomguru Air admittance valves, durgo valves, AAV’s or air inlet valves as they are sometimes known, allow air into the soil stack system without letting air (and thus smells) out. This stops a vacuum in the pipework and allows the waste to drain easily without letting smelly gasses out inside the property.
When you flush waste water from a toilet, bath or sink the water will flow along the waste pipe and air is carried along with it. As the water and air flow down the pipe it will cause a change in pressure in the pipework and air will be drawn into the system. Often this will be from plugholes, but air will enter the system anywhere it can in order to reduce the negative pressure. Have you ever heard the gurgling sounds coming from the plughole or drain when you’re emptying the sink for example?
