Brilliant car and a credit to the previous owner! If only everyone took that much pride and care with their cars.
Only Jag owners apparently.
What for? It didn't help this poor sod. He went to all that trouble and expense just to be screwed over by a dealer on the trade-in price. Good for Matt though.
@@simonmiller5118 it’s up to the owner to find the best deal. No one forced him to sell it for £4500.
@@simonmiller5118 not exactly ‘screwed over’. This had a trade price of only £3800. £4500 was paid because of its condition and history.
@@HighPeakAutos Why was it traded in? I'd have kept it another year.
Just found this channel this week and I’m addicted already 😂
Thanks bro
Thanks!
You're in luck matey, there's a lot to binge watch on 👍🏾
😁
It's good init 😊
Before buying a 3 year-old Boxster back in 2006, I paid for a full pre-purchase inspection [around 400, I think, so expensive - but worth it]. Car was mint and had been well looked after. I followed suit during 2 years of ownership, before moving it on; the report was helpful when selling. Skip to 2011, I received a call from the 4th owner who'd just bought it [found my number on the report], to say 'thanks for looking after the car so well.' I wonder if a car that's had a good start creates a feeling of obligation in future owners to keep it tip-top!
I've owned a 2013 XF since 2019. Beautiful inside and out, black with cream interior.
Matt, I bore your advice in mind when we bought our XF last month. We, too, bought the Premium luxury, checked it out on an online data service (not one quite as thorough as Car Vertical but close enough). A 2009 for £3,800, which you may think was too cheap, but, as you always say, hold back a couple of grand for fixing what needs fixing, and we knew what was needed. It's cam belt was done, we knew, but not the gear box service, so that was the first job done. It's booked in for everything else that needs to be done which pretty much accounts for the two grand. So effectively just under 6 grand, though I have to say I'd rather have paid what we paid and made sure we got the jobs done ourselves than pay out more and trust that the jobs had already been done. And we love it. It's my fourth Jag, and I don't get why so many people - who obviously haven't had one - insist they are not reliable. Only if they aren't looked after. And we still have some change to buy some 'werthers originals'.
By the way, Jaguar now say every 7 years for the cam belt - I think because the cars have been more successful than expected and are racking up mileage more quickly. The ZF service cost around £400 by an independant specialist in Doncaster, but, annoyingly, our local 'official' Jaguar centre gave me the same old speel about it being a sealed unit. They tried to tell me it wasn't a "serviceable item, sir", but... "since you insist, sir, we can do it for £629 and 17 pence"... mmmmm, how odd that for a non-serviceable item they could quote an exact price to the penny, for a service they said it didn't need and one they didn't offer. I went elsewhere and saved £200. Why do Jaguar do that?
@@davidphillips2151 lol bloody donny car salesman.
Get a good warranty, our 3 litre sport has had £1,500 worth of claims in first 12 months, 2 years left and still suffering limp home mode
@@davidphillips2151 Because you need to stop being a tight arse and simply buy a new Jaaaaaag when the gearbox packs up.
@@Billythebubble I've had 4 Jags, an XJ40. an XJ8, an S-Type and now the XF - never experienced that 'Limp-Home-Mode' problem, though I know it does happen to some cars seemingly without good reason. What I have had, though, is sensor problems. An engine problem warning light comes on but when you check it out the reported problem does not exist, it's the sensor (the one that supposedly senses that problem) that is faulty and costs as much as to fix as the problem would have cost had it really existed. The other annoying issue was Jaguar insisting that the gearbox is a sealed unit that doesn't need servicing - except that it DOES and it will let you down BIG TIME if you don't service it regularly, this I have learned to my cost. This was particularly true in earlier cars in which the gearbox was made by MERCEDES... good idea, Jaguar, trust a competitor to supply you with your gearboxes... mmmmm... not that I'm suggesting anyone was being cynical, Heaven forbid...
As a XF owner myself (who also keeps their receipts in a binder 😀) that video was a joy to watch 👋
I keep my service history in a binder too but am loathe to admit to it 😂
Same here, I think jag owners have a hive mind 😂
Binders ftw 😄
I keep my xj,s magna carta of history in a very fetching pink binder 😂
Folder full of receipts .. dont you mean
Filling cabinet full of receipts ?
I’ve been watching your videos for many years Matt.
This is the first time I can remember a vehicle that was in good condition and properly maintained.
The previous owner, definitely looked after this vehicle very well.
All of the service history etc…
Sadly, it’s very rare nowadays, as shown by your recent videos, for people to keep their car well maintained and in good / clean condition etc, particularly when it’s a 12 year old vehicle.
Love the XF
They look great
Really glad u had a win, and made a good profit, quickly.
👍
Super find about time you had an apple instead of the july pears 😊
Do Jaguar owners REALLY take such good care of their cars or do they just have anything additional taken care of while they are at the shop so they don't have to come back next week?
Very stylish motor. I always like the end of the videos when the car in question goes from duckling to swan, but this was tidy to begin with - neatest car I've seen you pick up.
What a result. You are correct about Jaguar owners, we are passionate about the marque. I have owned four examples right from a 1962 Mark 2 through to the modern examples.
Finally, a premium brand with premium tyres
It had to happen sooner or later
i have 2011 xfs black on black with the same wheels tuned 320bhp paid £5000 2 years ago off a dealer and i love it
I bought a Jaguar XJ (2011) last November and it has cost me a full service, new battery, air con regassed, 2 front wheels, wheel alignment, 2 front wishbones and a gearbox service. I used Car Vertical before buying too as your video on the XJ convinced me to buy one! Despite the cost I wouldn't change a thing. After an XF for the wife so this video might just change her mind, thanks Matt, great content as always.
They're a lovely looking car pal. Think I'll stick with my old civic though...a list like that would give me heart failure!
@@klawlor3659 Good things aren't cheap and cheap things aren't good!
Probably the most well kept car I have seen on the channel. Kudos to the former owner!
You can tell it’s the S by the sports seats. They are the same as the R. Also it’s not the extra 25hp that makes a difference it’s the torque, another 100nm over the non s.
Yes very true
Matt these are such classy cars you got me into these beauties. But for me now being a family man i must say they nailed the design with the estates as well. Love your passion for the brand and restoring/giving a new lease of life to the car. For a new owner to hopefully do the same and sustain it’s quality!
Also still rarely skip your adverts either!
Nice, I just recently purchased the predecessor of this, the S-TYPE R. Which has made me watch videos on this XF and then yours popped up 🤔🤩.
Oh wow. Lovely car - enjoy
Great video. Someone got themselves a real beauty. I'm new to this channel and finding it really helpful. Keep up the good work Matt. I've never had a Jag before but the XF looks like a lot of car for the money.
It so cool to see a car this well kept. It really shows that any car can be relieable if you take care of it
Yes, if only owners realised this. If you look after the car, do the things that have to be done, drive it properly, don't use cheap fuel, then it is a win - win for everyone.
yes but it will not forgive you if you got a bad day or just skip something.. unlike some brands that still get abuse and forget do still run fine.
An absolute brammer ! I hope the new owner cherishes it as much as the previous.
So refreshing to see matching tyres from a brand I've heard of on your channel. What an excellent vehicle and owner.
I honestly think that if you present an older car with a quality set of tyres on it the MOT guy will fix the odd thing here & there to get you through.
I've had a couple of these, 2.7litre and 3.0litre Portfolio.
Looked after them and used specialists.
They're super quick and smooth and the engine and transmission is among the best, the economy is decent too considering the performance.
Great video! 👍🏼
Excellent result Matt and the buyer has a great video to keep and use when he sells his beautiful XF on.
Nice to see the SL getting a run out 😎 All the best people drive ‘em, you know.
Lovely car.. I like how you are not afraid to show us all your expenses, possible profits or the inevitable losses you face daily! so i`m also quite sure that if the new owner was to see this video that he (or she) would be reassured they have just bought themselves a good car...
Love your entrepreneurial spirit, and the transparent and honest way you conduct your business, Matt. Might be coming to you for a car very soon.
Matt the first job is to do is remove that scented tree. I'd leave the wheels, I like them just as.
Definitely keep the wheels....silver is so 'everyone else', don't you think.....
Still got my XF S, Premium Luxury 09, bought off the back of the first video you did. I love it more every time I drive it. 😉
The sound system was an extra in this trim, another bonus as well as the roof lining.👍
Be Well.
I’ve been eying up a petrol XF for months now, moving abroad and it’s something that I feel I’d love to have for a few months and can shift on over there for a few grand.
Lovely car and nice video fella.
I will definitely get my next car from you coming all the way from London worth every penny love your videos ❤️
Thats a lovely xf Matt, well cared for.
I sold my 2011 xf's tonight as it happens and bought an xkr, hope it gives me as much pleasure as the xf did. Glad to see you getting a good turn for a change.
Lovely to see someone has cared for their car like I would. A change from the skip's on wheels you often get Matt😊
You really hit the jackpot here Matt. Isn't it wonderful to see a car which has been lovingly looked after. And he even left you the spare part! Unbelievable. I'm surprised he didn't leave you a few Pound coins in the ash tray.
I was waiting for you to say, at the end of the video that you had decided to keep the car, but you didn't. I think you'll regret having not kept it. Such a lovely car.
Owned the XF myself (facelift model 2.2 LE), up until 150K on it. Didn't miss a beat and didn't have any issues aside from the rear door latch knackering out which is common on JLR products. Always serviced well (i tend to use Mobil1 or Castrol oil/Brembo brakes/Bosch Filters as a rule of thumb), and it never put a foot wrong. Amazing car, and do miss it!
good buy,nice car
in holland we pay at least 50% more
How is it that Elite only charge £400 for a cam belt change when my Discovery 4 it’s over £1000? Same engine and ancillaries 😩 I’ll give Elite a call. Great video and well done on getting a result on that Jag. Love it when folks look after their cars. First thing I do is look at the tyres, even when I pull up alongside others at the lights. Secret tyre snob, along with my mats on mats affliction
A beautiful car and another unexpected win for you - you're definitely on a roll at the moment. I used to have the later model 3.0 S XF Sportbrake. The V6 diesel engine is very creamy and it drove like a dream. When the kids moved out, I downsized to a Golf GTE.
I've owned a few of these over the years. Fantastic cars. The XF-S I had was an absolute rocket ship, less than 6 seconds to 60mph and 600nm of torque got me in trouble many a time...
They’re great aren’t they
@@HighPeakAutos Such a shame that the various ULEZ/CAZ zones now mean I won't ever be able to consider owning this shape again unless I miraculously find a nice example of the super rare R or 3.0 s/charged.
I’ve had two XF-S. first was re mapped over 300bhp!!! That was an absolute monster. Second was standard which was a bit more civilised.
@@PerryFred74 The last one I sold got written off by the new owner in less than a week! He'd come from driving a people carrier and couldn't manage the power I think. I was sick as the car was a minter, full Jag history, low miles, gearbox serviced, the works...
@@PerryFred74 I'm on my second XF S, current one is face lift. Can I ask why you got rid of the first XF S that was remapped? And did the remap cause any issues with the car? Thanks.
Kudos to the previous owner for clearly loving his car and treating it with respect.I salivated as soon as I saw it. One day, definitely one day I will own an XF just like that....I hope!!
What a lovely car! It’s refreshing to see you find a car that’s been loved. Hopefully the new owner looks after it just as well.
Good profit. Well deserved. Matt, in my 51 years on this mortal coil, I’ll sound like your uncle, but here goes. I have never heard, ‘Gearbox service’, any where else. And I am an absolute car. Nut. Loved this video. I suspect you are reading this in Malaga. Enjoy your break 😀
Well you'd be surprised, some cars are getting to an age where the original 'sealed for life' boxes from manufacturers actually meant 100k miles or less! Mostly German vehicles, but it's good preventative maintenance either way.
Thanks for watching
Not just the color, the wheels themselves don’t suit the car, but props to the previous owner for taking care of it.
Bright silver wheels look classy, black makes the wheel tyre combo look tiny. Nice car 👍🏻
A nice result on a nice car. Like you, I always use a Jaguar specialist and he always treats my cars well
Good video .Jag looks superb and the antharacite wheels suit a white car and don’t see that many but apart from bright red I think white is the best for a well looked after car.
Wow!! What a result. Makes you wonder why the previous owner sold it.
Watching this video made me proud of my jags car history/receipts binder 😂
Great stuff, lovely car and nice to see it well cared for, glad you got a good result on it. Much preferred this XF shape and interior to the replacement, though sadly a lot of this era of cars will be impacted by clear air zones in cities but still loads of life left for owners outside of these
I’ve watched every single one of matts videos and I don’t know how to stop
Haha thanks!
Simple answer !!! don't turn on your computer or laptop ( problem solved ) 😊😊😊😊
Talking with a group of mates and realised we all watch the channel. First thing we all said was how weird it was when , pulling up to the new cars and driving back and forth and not just getting out the car to look at it. 😂😂 funny how we all picked up on this. Great channel we all enjoy.
Take the wins when you can!!
Well done on the Jag. Looked like a bit of a unicorn with that service history.
Lovely car, and yes nice to see someone took care of it, especially if you compare it with that 1 series that you had recently. Unfortunatly the level of care is not always reflected in what the original owner gets for the car in px as the market tends to be on lowest common denominator, plus most were bought on finance that people could barely afford, let alone the cost of a service. Good to see the air con working on both hot days in the north ❤😊.
I've just traded in my XF-S Portfolio. Only 71k, FSH and never wanted for anything. I really enjoyed owning it, and will definitely miss it!
Nice for you to get an easy victory on this one, Matt. Keep up the great videos.
Owned maybe 15 Jags/Daimlers but never one of these. Gonna save this video for my bath later!!!
Love your videos. 😊 I’m a valeter and the garage I work at gets a bit excited buys A LOT of these XF’s etc..😜😂
im with you on the wheel colour, but on a white car, they look great i think!
Those wheels and radiator grill and a gloss black interior told me it was an xfs, I'm very knowledgeable about these despite never owning one...yet.😎
Great Vid, Great Motor - but that Magic Tree was offensive 😂
Great result Matt and a stonking good car at that price. Double six roll of the dice, well done!
This is the one I've been bugging you about for about 2 years Matt!!!!!! Thank you!! 👊👊
No problem!!
This is my favourite rejuvenation of yours. This is a future classic that’s now ready for some use. Tiny profit but some consolation.
"How's about that then" said a well known, but deceased DJ! Fantastic turn around, Matt... Great stuff!
Well done Matt, you deserve a good profit as a hard working and honest man!
Never did like the front end of this XF generation with that gormless headlight 'bump' that emulated the eye of some spooky teddy bear in the movies, but as usual Matt makes a convincing film on its numerous merits while being kind, or blind, to its tiny amount of pitfalls. That includes that gammy headlight and it's tiny interior for big lads like me at six foot three! Great video Matt and keep on keeping going lad.
Very happy for you, you deserve the occasional "easy win". Looking forward to the next one... Cheers!
Fantastic result, Matt!! If anyone deserves success, it's you. And I've made a decision to buy my next car from you. Why? Because I think you're a sound guy. And that IS high praise, coming from me.
The rear lights are also why I love this car including the supercharged version 🫡
Well you’ve definitely come up smelling of roses this time, nice one, someone who looks after a car like yourself and me, great to see 😃
Said it b4 & I’ll probably say it again,Matt should be on tv…he’s the rightful heir & successor to the King of motoring journalism Mr Clarkson…he’s gt it all,Matt is knowledgeable about cars, likeable, funny…he’s gt his own style…he’s preferable to that other Matt that does car videos…it honestly puzzles me to why some tv
Executives haven’t signed him up by now…maybe he will be signed shortly…particularly like his sarcastic presenting style…hope his channel grows & grows as he’s a grafter & is deserving of success…
Thank you for the kind words. Cheers
The subtitle with the time between shots is back, love it, keep it up
Well done Matt. I drive a 2013 Portfolio S (in Italian Racing Red with black Alcantara). I've owned about 30 cars - I get bored easily - but it's is the most enjoyable car I've owned, and that's compared to previous v6 A7, v6 A6, Passat BiTDi, Accord Type R....I just love it.
bro how do u make the money to afford all of these? I need to know 😭
Well done !! 👏 and new owner getting a cracker !!
I'm not surprised you like it, I have the newer second generation aluminium bodied 3.0 Jaguar XFS Diesel with even more BHP and 700 newton metres of torque and I absolutely love it. It's the best car I've owned by a mile and every time I drive it it brings a smile to my face.
Dito mate!!! Good choice.
Now you’re talking Matt. That’s utterly gorgeous. People who drive white Jags are often lovely people. I’ve got a 1971 XJ6 in white 🤣🤣
Excellent video Matt, Thank You.
Always loved the shape.
Good to see the Mercedes came out today Matt..😎
Nice result with the Jag..
What a corking car, I do love the XF, nice to see the odds go in your favour for a change, keep up the good work 👍
My neighbour just purchased a Jaguar XJ8 Special Edition. 1999, 21K genuine miles, chauffeur driven, full history, has blue plastic protection on door call and rear seats never been sat in. All chrome replaced with stainless steel as factory option. £12K he paid, it looks new. I know what you mean about Jaguar owners. Nice video.
That sounds like a steal
That car was clearly loved by the owner. Not much can be said about Vauxhall Corsas.
That’s really nice, glad you decided to stay with the gunmetal wheels. I’m in the market for an XFS although looking a Sportbrake Portfolio.
I've got one..and love it.can recommend
Matt loving life with this one 😊
I bought one a couple of months back and found myself looking at the things I've seen on here. The service history was in a folder, all Jaguar and specialist, Pirelli tyres, timing belt done at 72000, the spare key was in a pouch and had clearly never been used. Talking of scary parts, when flicking through the history I saw an alternator fitted by Jaguar and they charged £1100 just for the part. 🤣
I also keep a comprehensive service history of my cars, including every fuel receipt. I wash the underside and clean the insides of the wheels. Nice to see cars being cared for.
Like you say, look after your car and it will look after you. Such a nice change to see a clean, well cared for car.
Lovely car and a decent engine. My daily driver is a 2010 C5 3.0 HDI (the same engine, optimized to 270 HP when the car was 3 months old, alcantara roof, lether dash and door cards). With regular servicing it goes and goes without issues (on 115k miles now). To be honest, it does get its regular dose of fast highway runs (100-110 mph, I live in Croatia), so this surely helps that EGR and FAP (DPF) don't get clogged. Great content as usual.
That’s a rare car
@@HighPeakAutos yeah. Apart from the squeaky door handles it's a very comfortable long distance cruiser (hydro suspension, 19" wheels). Went to Concorso d'Eleganza in Como in Italy few weeks ago, an 8 hour drive. And I was fresh enough to visit the show straight after parking it.
You can't beat a nice "Oily Rag".....Jag. Your one is a credit to it's previous owner. ❤
Result! Proof that cars wear well if you look after them. My partner's cousin and her husband have one of these, they look like a lovely way to travel. I'd buy one if I had the money... which I don't!
You can fix the non-rotating air vent yourself, it's an easy DIY job and there are RUclips videos showing how to do it. The part that fails is a small plastic gear wheel that cracks, and it only costs about £10.
Hi Matt it's John from Gibraltar, that's what I told you in the past it's the roll of the dice. This particular acquisition was a peach.
A credit - to the last owner!!
Especially as gearbox and cambelt done (at recommended times!)
Had one of these 6 years ago…thoroughly enjoyable car.
Hi Matt, bought a 2012 jaguar xf 2.2 sport did all the checks you do. Its great only 74500 miles
always been a fan of the XF. would love to own one sometime. great spec on this particular vehicle. stick a private plate on it and it'll easily look 5yrs newer. i think this model has aged very well.
bonus that the previous owner (for once) maintained the car as it should have been. great result for you.
A result straight away which makes a change, lovely motor too 😊
Loved to see the twinkle in your eye due to it being a genuinely nice example! Glad you turned a healthy profit 👏
Great you've won on one. As the previous comment said, a credit to the previous owner !!
I have just bought a 2012 XF-S Portfolio with only 35k miles and fsh and was owned by a guy who owns his own Jag specialist garage! He serviced it put a new mot on it and changed the cambelt all for £10,500! and hes going to sort out an issue i have with the aircon foc its a win win!
I love mine, comfortable, smooth and plenty quick enough and can get 45mpg on the motorway at 70+mph
Awww man I was thinking please don’t say it’s sold because if it wasn’t I was going to come down tomorrow and take it off your hands!
Another great video pal keep up the great work 👌
I have a 2011 XFS and love it, although it has cost me quite a lot on repairs. The torque is amazing.
