    While I agree that it is a good shot and negates the opponent chance to attack, I have to mention that changing the direction of the play while you be out of position for their response. So you have to have very quick feet to get back close to the center of the court to be in a good position. Great video!

    quick question: how does playing with slice take longer than playing flat? If i just open the face (with short backswing, as you mentioned) I have slice in it with the same time of preparation.

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  2 месяца назад

      That’s a good question!
      To add slice you need to bring the tip of the racket a bit higher and you need to wait a bit longer to brush the ball.
      I recommend taking a look at Galan’s forehand volley while transitioning to the net. If you notice he touches the ball very in front of him. You can only do that if you play flat. This is what we are trying to do here! 🙌💪

    The boley to the fence. Gonna try that one 😅

    You mention hitting flat and I can see why from your tip on hitting really in front.
    But if you can wouldn't it be better to hit with slice? A coach told me this helps the bounce off the fence be way trickier.

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  2 месяца назад +1

      If that was the case hitting with topspin it would make the ball bounce upwards, but you can see all the pros hitting the rulo to the fence with topspin 😉

    In this case I don't agree that the slice will not help. The slice play will increase the chances that after hitting the grid ball will pull towards court, which is the best option in this situation. It is best to play very lightly with backspin in the indicated direction.

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  2 месяца назад

      @@HuTrzy why do pros play the rulo with topspin then? 😉

    • @HuTrzy
      @HuTrzy 2 месяца назад

      @@padeldriver I applied my observation to the volley shot. Rulo is played from above the head and is much easier to fit into this part of the court using top spin. Playing the grid gives a lot of randomness, but the effect of top spin rotation often causes the ball to climb up the surface from which it bounces therefore it can increase the chance of making it easier to receive the shot.

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  2 месяца назад +3

      If your theory was right and the ball was more likely to bounce up with topspin, you would see pros hitting the rulos flat when possible. My experience is that spin does not matter much when hitting to the fence. Plus playing fat allows you to prepare faster and grabbing the ball more in front

      @@padeldriver I dont think its about the bounce of the cage - its about time (preparation) and risk. Just like you explain in the video - if you play a more flat shot its safer since you dont need to prepare that long. If you would play with slice the whole preparation and shot execute takes just a bit longer.
      But if you feel like you have the time to put some slice on the ball why not go for it. We all are good at diffrent thinks on the court, if u wanna play slice play slice - if you wanna play flat play flat. Just evaluate what works best for you and how much % of the shots are in and not and adjuste accordingly :)
