When I was in prison there was this guy from congo who made this and made a tomato and kidneybean sauce and WOW!
As an American I have notice the food similitudes of people of the African diaspora. I’ve never known of cornmeal fufu but I’ve had my share of hot water cornbread dumplings.
Thanks!! Nigerian here and this was super helpful.
Hello ! In Brazil we have a meal called "Angu" that is the same of your "Fufu".
Nice.
That's wonderful.
É parecido, mas não é igual
For everyone who measures, just use the ratio of 2 cups water and 1 cup cornmeal
Thank you for making this video available. I’ve tasted this fufu, and it’s delicious. I wanted to try making this myself, along with some okra soup.
I like the video very detailed thanks for showing me how to make Fufu. Pork is a meat I don't favor. So I won't be trying it with pork. Maybe some African smoked fish.
I'm going to try to make it will be my first time to try it
Looks like corn coucou from the caribbean. We combine the cornmeal with boiled orka.
Ooh cool 👌🏾 You mix it with okra? 😯 as in cook it together and mould it like I did in the video?
Omg yes , I’m Haitian I love the okra with the fufu it’s it’s amazing .
Hi I am from Vincent and the Grenadines🇻🇨🇻🇨 we do the same thing as well I learn from my two grandmas to do it different ways one do it with the okra and my other grandma do it with coconut milk and lentil peas and my way of doing it it is with mixed veggie and the coconut milk and okra 💕💕💕
After my trip to S.A I had this dish and it was delicious I am now inspired by cooking it tonight for supper! Can't wait!! great video

Is there any difference making the fufu with the whisk and the nzete ya fufu? & can we get a tutorial on the pork stew please?
Using the whisk stops it from getting lumpy :-)

It's called papa or pap in South Africa depending on what language you say it in
We called it turned cornmeal in Jamaica 🇯🇲 we also let cooked 🍳 for hour .
Wooah ! Tu préparés très bien ! 😙😙
Blandina Luan Merci ❤
What is the difference between this and the regular one? By the way you cook very well.😊
Thank you! :-) Do you mean semolina when you are talking about the regular one?
letsCOOKwithELLE Yes. The classical semolina.
Naya Gabriel Well I find cornmeal fufu much filling than semolina fufu; also when I made it I didn't have to add too much cornmeal than when I'm making semolina fufu. Both textures are different, semolina is lighter and both taste a bit different. I hope this answers your question ❤
letsCOOKwithELLE Ah ok.
Is the white powder all purpose flour?
Thank you very nice 👍 👌
Thank you ☺️
In Antigua (island in the Caribbean), we call this fungee. We make it the same way but add okra (though I have had it plain). We eat it predominately with fish.

You’re welcome ☺️
What did you add with the cornmeal.
Hello, may I ask is it the cornmeal same as cornflour? And is there any changes of taste if I use white cornmeal instead of white cornmeal?
Amin Al-Hafiz no they’re different
-corn meal is grainy, smaller than couscous and it is used to make polenta or fufu,
- Corn flour is smooth like actual flour and it's used make Arepas for example
- Corn starch is a white powder that like potato starch is used to thicken sauces or creams
What’s the white thing you added ?

Nice, what do you eat ugali with? And what do you use to make it?
@@letsCOOKwithELLE usually served with stew or sukumawiki (kale). We use maize flour to make it.
Boil water until it bubbles. Add a cup full of flour into the water. Use a wooden spoon to quickly start mixing the flour and water. Add a handful of flour and continue to mix the water and flour it will start to come together. Reduce heat to medium and keep turning the ugali as it continues to stick together. tastes a bit more like popcorn than grilled corn.
