Steve, my opinion is that this radio is wonderful compared to other Chinese models that say they receive the air band well when they don't! Thanks to you, friend, with your video, I found a transceiver with air band at the reception worth listening to! I have a radio scanner model RADIOSHACK PRO 90 FROM 1998 and it receives aviation well as it was also designed for that, but as it is already very old I decided to purchase the SENHAIX 8600 because I saw in your video how it receives the air band and should not many scanners.. Thanks for the information about the radio and information on how to program the air band! Thank you very much Steve! Now I have my own SENHAIX!!!
Great informative video thank you, I have bought a 8600 on the strength of it from alixpress and the radio and hand book are in Chinese. Not liking to be beat i downloaded the programming software which is in English but no mention of Language change. I'm a bit stuck now, does anyone have a fix for me ? Thanks in advance.
From my recollection, press and hold the menu button, this will take you ontp vfo mode, you can now type in a frequency. If frequency is within the airband it should be AM automatically. Pressing and hold the has key puts it into scan mode, arrows will change direction of search/scan. Hope that helps. Find local airports or atc or volmet signals, they should be strongest. Regards Steve
Nice good detailed review. Very tempted after I saw the not so good review from Ringway Manchester a few months back but the power output is disappointing I must say
The 16 PMR channels are pre-programmed into this radio, but despite my efforts it will not transmit on them. If I tap in a PMR frequenc by hand, it transmit & receives on that. I used the calling channel 446.093 and was okay, but not the preprogrammed channels. Any suggestions? 😕
Sounds like the pre programmed ones have had tx disabled in the software. You may need to use software and program the channels that way with tx enabled. Can you program the 16 pmr 446 channels in from keyboard and store into memory? Probably th tx was disabled as legally its not permitted to tx on 446 as it has a removable antenna and more than 500mw output. In software this could be viewed and changed in minutes.
Yes, on the uk version you can tx outside of the Amateur bands, like 446 pmr etc, though legally its not a 446 authorised radio as over half a watt and has a detachable antenna. Regards Steve
Of course it's not legal to tx outside the ham bands anyway even if licensed ham so using 446 or other non ham would be illegal, but ham bands obviously licence needed
@@Commercialaviation747 turn on the radio, press exit button to change from vfo A to B, top bottom. If radio is in memory mode and not VFO, press and hold menu, the chosen vfo will switch. You want it in vfo not memory mode. Type in the frequency you want to listen to, the radio will now hear any transmission on that freq. If you want to store it press menu quickly, use arrows to scroll across to channel storage, follow options to store in memory. Hope that helps, regards Steve
Get the memories up so you can see them on the screen, press and hold the # button, lower right on keyboard, the display will change and sho the frequencies of the memorys and start scanning them, regards Steve
@@maynardlavery9258 So you have the Memories showing in the upper screen? Make sure you have the little arrow showing left hand side, if its in the lower part of the screen press EXIT key to change it to the upper screen. Screen should show the name of the memory you are tuned to like Airport etc then to the right of that in RED the MEMORY CHANNEL Number, ie 78 or 02 etc should be showing. Press and hold the # key for over a second, the lower screen changes to Frequency (the frequency of the memorys, it does not show channel name), it also on that screen has a big symbol come up, like a cross hair gun sight, just above the freq, it should then be scanning until squelch opens and it stops. (Worth checking in menu , SETTINGS, no.3 Scan Mode, and set it to time. If that does not work check the software that you programmed it with, the SCAN ADD column MUST be set to ON for the memories you want to scan. That way you can choose what you want to scan in each VFO. If I scan in the first one (Top of screen) I just scan the 446mHz PMR channels in my memory, if I choose the lower VFO I scan all Memories. Hope that may help. Regards Steve
Good morning Steve, just one more question my friend, is this radio capable of being unlocked through software to receive military aviation at: 225.0 to 399.95 MHz? Do you know how to inform? this in UHF of course. I await your return, Thank you!
@@Commercialaviation747 unfortunately i have not heard of anyone who has achieved that, buy a very cheap quansheng handheld, i got one for under £20 uk stirling, downloaded the updated firmware and it does a fair job, not as good as the senhaix, but also covers the military bands with the new firmware. I believe it does, It does hear aircraft very well, better than the air receive on my Wouxun hand held in another video. Though it does not have 8.33spacing this has not caused me a problem listening to my local airports and aircraft at high levels passing over. It is a solid radio, the audio is clearer than many of my handheld scanners. The display is small but overall for the price very pleased. Regards Steve
