Frid in the shed I learn lot from you about bying cb radios and antennas for cb radios and power supplys for cb radios
Fird in the shed your RUclips videos are awesome my friend
Interesting content fred .. if possible perhaps more of the same but listening to the ham bands calling frequencies .
Keep up the good work and 73s
Frid in the shed your Quansheng vuv k-5 ham transceiver is awesome my friend
Thank you. Stay safe buddy.
Not a gimmick - hands down the best for scanning the airband
Thanks fred for the info
So I've made a dipole antenna for my Quansheng. A centre, then a wound toroid, and two telescopic attached. Aircraft range for me in North Yorkshire, right across UK, also craft seeking clearance to land at Schiphol recently. I can use antenna to cover vertical and horizontal, and have one shorter to make a sort of J-Pole effect. These little radios are cracking fun. 126.575/600 N.London weather, usually a great benchmark frequency.
it works well for air band plus you can use it to listen to the radio armature repeater on the ISS when in range
Frid in the shed my hobbies are painting pictures and listening to shortwave and ssb iam thinking about getting my Grms license
Thanks for posting, Fred. Luton? Pulling for the Hatters to stay up...
Excellent video just purchased one and subscribed….73s
Thank you!
Just bought one :)
The audio sounds quite good.
Consider using a Uniden rubber duckie antenna - had very decent results using that antenna for airband
I use mine with a Nagoya 771 antenna, pulls in a lot more traffic than the standard antenna. Make sure you get a genuine Nagoya though.
Just picked one up for £6.. mostly to listen to aircraft and alike whilst out in the car.
£6 thats crazy
@@CB-RADIO-UK yes, i thought that too
Hey Freddy, great visuals with the software. Wish the audio was better. Can you borrow an airband scanner and do a comparison. Thanks for all your postings.
I do have a desk top scanner connected to a discone antenna. That has a much bigger speaker so would not be fair.
If you use f4hwn v2.5 firmware its base on egzumer but you can set the power level it do on low power so low as legal pmr
Great video Fred. Is this with stock firmware or do you need Egzumer for this?
Hi you need Egzumer v 0.22
Seems like such a bargain. I'm tempted.
What else can it receive that might be of interest?
Thanks for all the great content 👍
Pretty much everything from 17 Mhz upwards.
Pressing the 4 changed the +_ in the lower centre of the screen
TY, this is a much easier way for scanning AM, however I have never figured out how to TX with the .22 firmware,, so I just play with the scanning then reload a firmware that can TX. Maybe someday i will figure out python.......
Hi Fred great video, I just wanted to pick your brain, I have a 32 ft mast that is guy roped , if I put up a Sirio 827 can I guy rope directly to the antenna if I nylon rope , or will it effect the antenna when the nylon gets wet , keep up the good work ade Sheffield
In theory it will be fine but i have to say ive never heard of someone adding a guy to the antenna itself.
Ok thanks for your reply, keep up the good work
Hi Fred.
I have the quansheng uv-5r plus, what is the difference pls
And is it worth getting the uv-k5 8
Cheers
I think the main difference is that the UV-K5 is modable with firmware updates.
I hope you get to me on my question, @ the 3:10 point what do those numbers mean the -95/-50 very top far left ?
To be totally honest i dont know
What antenna do you recommend for these for 10/11 mtr RX? Cause mines as deaf as a post , the stock antenna are what they are fred
You need to look on Ebay for an SMA 11 meter antenna. I ve not bought one myself so cannot recommend any,
Amazon sells a 2w, 8ohm speaker. It is easy to install. There is a RUclips video by “the lonesome tech”, with an informative install. He’s all thumbs and ham-fisted, but he gets it done.
Cheers from Texas 😊
Thanks for the info!
Do I set those same frequencies for AM air bands in the US ?
Yes
Yep
Will the telescopic antenna work on CB and SSB to transmit ?
No sorry.
I'm new to all this . What type of connection does the antehave to be male or female? To fit quansheng uvk5 ? Please
Hi. Its SMA female (no pin)
going for about £13 incl delivery (5 days from China) on Aliexpress
Has it arrived yet?
@@buzzkillington8078 yeah took less than 5 days too
Is it worth buying a BC125AT for scanning aviation frequencies or this one does the trick? I’m close to an airport.
The Uniden is six times the cost. Prob very nice for that cost but this radio will work.
How did you change the tone and change the trebble tone?
Just reduced it in editing the video. Nothing i did on the radio as that still sounds as tinny as hell.
Very Nice. 73 VA6LAT
They closed the airspace down when russia invaded 2 years ago, so no the hairbands totally silent here. I did scan for a couple of weeks and only heard one transmission, dunno what that was, maybe some kinda military jet. I dunno what band the MiG-29 or Su-24/25 or Su-27 use.
F16s soon
@@MONTY-YTNOM At least I know what band to scan. 225-327 MHz AM. 👍
the bandwidth of the airband is 8.33 khz, the device only knows 12.5 and 25. Is it possible to use 8.33?
Not currently.
Newbie here, does it come fully programmed for Uk plus weather channels
Hi. I dont know of any UK weather channels only North America.
@@CB-RADIO-UK sorry it’s a typo error from me, does it come pre programmed with Uk channels on it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, is there any weather channel for Uk I could listen to
Hi. Not that I am aware.
Bottom line this if you can, what’s the actual difference between the k5 and the k8?
Just cosmetics i think.
Didn't realise there is bad stock version fred ?
Fred your scanning on 25k width, airband is a lot lower, width is better or your miss many transmissions
Hi thanks. yes i missed that it should be 6.25 k
Scanning 761% ! How?
Maybe the Internet is a gimmick. I'm speaking of OTA television VS. ROKU, TUBI, PLUTO. etc. I enjoy it like hell, my Dear friends I'm subbed to. So I think, what's the point? You're going to paying for it anyway? ANYWAY, my next project it the OTA TV station on house on ROOF!
Carefully with wrenches and tools!
£11 + tax on aliexpress right now.
Love listening to AB. And personally I love the spectrum. IsThis the EGZ 0.22 firmware?
Hi Yes its ver 0.22
