    As somebody who in only the last few years has got into SW/scanning etc after being into CB back in the day and is looking for something afordable yet still viable today these vids/info/review's are priceless. Many thanks for the time & trouble, it's appreciated. Great channel, keep up the good work. Respect.

    Can you still get airband on this scanner with the newer 8.33 khz steps?

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  3 года назад +1

      You can still receive air band with this scanner but you may get distorted audio if your slightly off frequency due to the 8.33khz steps to be honest I’ve never tried . All I do is set it to 108 and let it scan

    Had a handheld scanner for when I used to listen to *cough* Police.
    Heard an increase in traffic, (And digital worble) in 1994 when London Heathrow was attacked by Mortars.
    And on Christmas Eve where a police station said they ran out of milk. You could hear them turn on the siren. Nir. Nah. Nir. Nah
    Did notice your BBC Micro hiding on the right corner too..
    Thanks for the zip back in time.

    If you modify it to install a discriminator tap and hook it to a line input of a PC and run DSD plus you can do a lot more than just analog.

    Is this the moonraker v1300 discone desk antenna? How tall is it from base to tip off tallest antenna and whats the diameter at the bottom of the "cone"?

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  3 года назад

      It’s the sky scan discone desktop antenna www.radioworld.co.uk/receiving___scanner_antenna/skyscan-desktop-25-2000mhz-scanner-antenna

    • @phillipsmiley5930
      @phillipsmiley5930 3 года назад

      @@2j4ez A Discones disc should be 70% of a 1/4 wave at the lowest frequency.
      for 25Mhz that would be 2.1 meters each for the disc rods, and the legs 1/4 wave
      for lowest frequency 25Mhz is 12 meters / 4 = 3 meters long each
      I think its safe to say its not a 25MHz discone. Maybe 150MHz up
      with some verticals added to help it work lower down. So its not mostly a discone
      it's mostly a vertical groundplane without enough vertical or groundplane.
      And people pay £50 for them? Wow!

    What about the 23 cm band on 1240-1300 MHz ? Would you maybe need a Yagi antenna ? There's satellites on ham radio broadcasting on this frequently although there's not much information online.

    • @624radicalham
      @624radicalham 3 года назад

      You won't see much information online because no one is using that. These are extreme men (not women) that do tests on microwave frequencies, and they do them very rarely. It's really not a thing despite the fact that it's an option for experimentation. No one with a family and a life cares about those frequencies. So you're not missing anything.
