Unless he means “cut the mustard”? That phrase isn’t military though, mustard in this case means spicy or passionate. So “not cutting the mustard” means something not inspiring passion . 🤔 But we were talking about a war, 😕 so I can’t really say.
The phone apps have forever trumped the background art...my word...This channel MUST be viewed by any and all approaching alien ships as to understand what they are up against...Epic!
One of the good things about living near a major, major target for WWIII is that I do not have to worry at all about surviving such a war. No SHTF gear. No radios that will probably get EMPd anyway. None of that matters here. Not only will the enemy flatten this area repeatedly, our own side and allies and are also likely to hit it just to ensure it is kept out of enemy hands.
But what is you are somebody like me that constantly has this black cloud following them? I will survive a nuclear attack even if I am ground zero. I am the one that will survive to live amongst the mutants and radioactive gigantic sized cock roaches. That is why I will be purchasing the Retekess TR111. I will need that sd card slot to listen to mp3's while the rest of the world is a radioactive wasteland.
Some might call you cynical, but I'd call you a fellow realist. And for the record, instant vaporization involves far less suffering than living a brutish, nightmarish life for a few extra months trying to survive after an all-out nuclear exchange.
I purchased a ATS-20+ receiver having FM AM (MW & SW) with a rechargeable Battery for $76.00 from Amazon. I am using a Long wire 100 ft copper wire antenna for better reception. Works great and picks up all kinds of SW broadcasting. It is portable and can go anywhere.
I have the “Radioddity” branded model and I honestly love it. Mine did come with all the previously mentioned stuff plus a pair of earbuds and a clip on antenna extender.
Randy , you sense of humor is off the charts , to those of us with a dry sense of humor! Thank you for all your baofeng videos !, I have several , today my grandkids played in the yard and where arrested for transmitting on frs #3 , they make bail in the morning after naps and maybe the younger one may need a new pull up
I was just looking at a "Toddler Radio". Looking at FCC docs, it is fixed to FRS channel 1 and has a picture of Paw Patrol on it. 😆 I'd imagine the FCC death squad will be around soon to tell anyone using this Paw Patrol radio what they can and can't do. (Come on, this is perfect April Fools material, I'd hope it at least gets stored up for that. 😆)
Great video review . I'm new to the world of shortwave and learning everything I can by watching videos and subscribing to Shortwave accounts on the X app. I ordered a portable radio to keep on hand to get me through power outages. The one I had went through hell and has deseases. Anyway, the new AM/FM radio I ordered also has shortwave " Retekess TR629". Can't wait to tinker with it .
Love the videos! Couple of questions: 1. How well does it receive? 2. Is there a public list of good stations to listen to for Newbies? C. Do you perform all your own stunts or is there a body double?
Holy shit! I love your sarcasm. I also appreciate your videos that help a newbie like myself better understand how to operate a radio. I truly wish sad hams wouldn’t behave like dicks, but I can appreciate how you counter them.
I nearly spit out my coffee when i saw the apps on your phone. The great reviews are only a small bit of why i appreciate your channel. The subtle sarcasm is solid gold entertainment.
Cool lil pocket radio. These are cool for chore things, car repair, dishes, toilet rebuild and floor mount un fraudifying previous install, ect. Clear, talk or music, but not a subwoofer suitcase that will overpower 10% thinking processor. That Eton, that is the IC-705 for shyhams. The traditional meter, and ssb, with squelch. If anything gets real wild, ill mention it on soc. media, I don't need to stand in ragchew chowline. 🍻
My retekess V-115 was only $20, but I spent more for wire to make a long antenna, and extra batteries. ButI prefer the Tecsun PL-680 hich has full coverage from 500KHz - 30 MHz.
This Retekess radio is the same radio as my Raddy radio. These radios can definitely pass mustard, (but not gas). Thanks to its tiny size, it is my new travel companion.
You know....I saw the other video about that giant SW radio...and really debated buying it...but honestly don't have much use for something so large. This I could toss in a faraday cage and bust it out when needed. Looks great...Also, love the ultra-dry humor as always. Pure gold. Okay...just got to the part where you showed your phone...i literally laughed so hard i had to pause.
That's a cool little radio. That phone app seems pretty nice and responsive. Be a good radio to keep in a bug out bag. Just ordered ordered one from your affiliate link and Amazon had a coupon too so that's a win. Can't wait to try it out. Used to love listening to shortwave as a kid. I'd fall asleep to the Atomic clock.
If people don't need a physical radio they can also get an SDR dongle which will plug into their computer and do the same thing for less than $500 as well. The SDRPlay RSP1A is only $119 - a great deal for what it does.
I have a old Grundig S 350 radio for my big clunky one, and a Raddy RF30 micro radio for my portable. Basically the same situation as Randy's examples.
This week’s TV picture is Very funny. “Some people” might disagree. Good, let them self combust. ALSO, very funny: your “vibrator” app showcased on your phone.
The apps on the phone caused me to pause and laugh for many minutes. I then perused the comments section to see just how many "some people" expressed outrage instead of admiration. I was pleased to find much adoration.
WOW - I very much appreciate your caring nature and respect for “SOMEPEOPLE” ! As usual I appreciate the hand modeling you did with the wrist strap. It is a real shame you had that injury! I can not tell what you are pointing to with the people chewed pencil but I did notice the length of the hidden antenna a quarter wave id say since I am an expert on antennas! The SOS button is a very nice feature in an emergency SHTF situation but, I could see some problems with that! There are quit a few Morton’s that might think you use it to TUNE the radio. I want both but I don’t want to be STUPID?? Although the small radio does BT to my phone I think my phone has to be charged to use it? 🤓🧐🤔
EMP will render most modern solid state electronics useless so use a Faraday bag or box or obtain some older type tube radios with no chips to fry. Thanks for your amusing and useful content.
Thank goodness there are 100 other WWIII or SHTF scenarios that do not include EMP at all, or do, but not within 1,000 miles of me and my radio. But yes, a faraday bag or box would be useful in the event of a local EMP event.
I have that "$500" radio. Didn't cost me that much, almost less then half, but I've also used some smaller HF radios. The 750 is my goto when after a couple of beers, I want to sit out on the back porch and copy some CW. One feature is a must is a BFO. But cool little radio.
Since none of the normal nitpickers decided to nitpick the lowest hanging fruit: I guess I'll do it. "Pass Mustard"? Nope. It is "Pass Muster". Passing mustard is something else entirely and may lead to finding corn you forgot you ate. And to make up for nitpicking at all, I saved the affiliate link for next weeks amazon purchase. Thanks! Cool device.
When you get an offer for a free radio, raffle it off after you review it. 👍 And the app will come in handy to distract the zombies coming for you. Set it up in another room while you're escaping so they think you're still there... They were thinking about WWIII...
The expression is "pass muster", not mustard! It is military in origin.
That doesn't even make any sense! you should do some research then come back and apologize to my viewers for misleading them.
I past mustard this mourning after etting two many hotdogs last night!
Unless he means “cut the mustard”?

This is a comedy show too.......comrade.
You are right. It means to pass inspection.
The phone apps have forever trumped the background art...my word...This channel MUST be viewed by any and all approaching alien ships as to understand what they are up against...Epic!
"Now that I've played with it a while..." it doesn't seem so small, and performs adequately.
😅
O..., and the radio is nice too... HaHaHaHaHa!!! Momma always knows best.
@@steve2736But alas it’s much better than being inadequate….l
With the kind of apps you have shown us on your phone, I’m guessing you probably wouldn’t mind other people to play with it a while 😂😉
Great review and the apps on your phone are priceless🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now we're talking! Boofwang prices!

Can I give you money to come live there? Quick and hasty flattening sounds ideal compared to all this shit the states are doing to prep.
realist was the word i was thinking also..@@antonmoric1469
here's hoping
Epic (and very timely) picture on the monitor in the background of this video! Kudos and well done!

I can't stop laughing at the Liberty Safes meme in the background.
Whatever is on that display every episode is usually hilarious.
Died laughing at the "Apps" on the phone!! LOL!
You can get a Retekess TR111 Shortwave here: amzn.to/3r5YbrY
You can check out the more expensive radio shown in this video, here: amzn.to/3sSQF41
Thanks for the links.
can we get an affiliate link for the pointer that simulates a broken tip pencil? that things BADASS! ❤❤❤😂😂😂
'See if it can pass mustard!' O lawd! I'm laughing my tail off.
Love your style! At last somebody who does not only destroy the Tecsun s-2000/eton/Grundig. Very entertaining and competent! Thanks.
Liberty Safe and Dylan whatever his name is in the frame on the wall behind you is a nice touch.
I think your getting a solid little shortwave radio, with a few nice little features, for $55. Nice to throw in a pack, or a coat pocket on the move.
The apps on your phone highlight how great of a content creator you are.
I have the “Radioddity” branded model and I honestly love it. Mine did come with all the previously mentioned stuff plus a pair of earbuds and a clip on antenna extender.

love your phone app selections!

What's most amazing is that amongst the pun and sarcasm, you actually still are able to do a review - I hope you found some great feet my friend :)
I absolutely LOVE the chewed pencil pointer. And the very fluid hand motions. Great presentation! Bravo!

Every time I see your pencil I can't help but chuckle. lol
That was a highly impressive lightly chewed on pointing instrument. So appropriate coming for you. Loved it...
He's got a whole box of them.
Enjoy your videos, pal. I would go to the extent saying that your videos helped me get through tye darkest phase of my life
"Pass muster"
Pass mustard is what you do at the hotdog stand.
The pencil pointer is sheer class !

lol I was wondering if I was the only one noting them XD

Zombies in the streets passing mustard. That will probably give me nightmares when I go to sleep.
Pass the Grey Poupon, please
Fantastic dark humor makes the boring electronics class, fun
Yasss! WW3 finally. Bout time. Thanks for the review . :)
Weather band is nice. Glad to see a resurgence of shortwave listening lately. Neat radio in all respects.
5:00 - 5:24
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT AND WHY I LOVE YOUR HUMOR LOL!
Don't forget to check the license conditions for your country before using the wrist strap.
also, be sure to check for restrictions on antenna length for juveniles under 18

Randy...for the Win! Just ordered one cuz WWIII is coming to a hamlet near US.
The apps page you setup for that..... priceless.
The lengths you go to to just rile up "some people".😂😂😂
Love the Tekmat!
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
No SSB or air band is a bummer. Wish they would make a do it all pocket receiver.
Thanks for not using music on this one!
Really Appreciate Your Content. It's videos like this that open people's minds.

Eton mini radio is what I currently use. I also have the eton executive radio.
After watching your video I may need to get another radio.
Pass the mustard!!!
I cant wait for my one time $700 payment after the radioactive dust subsides, sooo worth it!

Interesting video Randy @NotaRubicon Productions
