애니뿐만아니라 그냥 아무것도 모르는얜듯
1. 한국어에서는 발음이 /o/인데 일본어에서는 /go/인 이유
한자어다 보니 당연히 중국어사를 볼 필요가 있습니다. 해당 발음은 본래 /ngo/와 유사했을 거예요. 이 어두(초성)에서의 /ng/ 발음이 한국어로 넘어온 후 시간이 지나면서 사라진 거고, 일본어로 넘어온 후 시간이 지나면서 /g/로 바뀐 겁니다. 언어, 말을 의미하는 'ŏ(語)'가 일어에서는 'go'인 이유가 이겁니다.
2. 한국어에서는 발음이 /ban/인데 일본어에서는 /han'/인 이유
본래 중국어에서는 /p(h)an/ 발음과 유사했을 것이며 현대 중국어에서는 [pan](빤)으로 나타납니다. 한국어에서는 이와 유사하게 /ban/ [b(h)an] 발음으로 나타나죠. 다만 일본어에서는 이 발음이 특별하게 변했는데요. 역사적으로 일어의 ha행 발음은 되게 복잡하게 변했습니다. '절반'은 일어로 /seppan'/인 것을 보아 일본어에서도 처음에는 /pan/과 유사하게 발음했을 것이라 짐작할 수 있습니다.

드래곤볼은 중국의 소설 서유기를 모티브로한 만화입니다.
여기서 주인공은 孫悟空..
중국발음으로는 승우콩~ 정도로 들리고 이를 한국에선 손오공 일본에서는 손고쿠로 발음되서 읽죠
한자 하나하나 나라마다 발음법이 다르기에 생긴 차이점입니다.
맞음 롤의 오공도 그렇고 날아라 슈퍼보드도 마찬가지 다 서유기의 손오공이 모티브인 캐릭터

그냥 다들 어렵게 생각하는 거 같은데. 오공 오반 오천 이거 그냥 한자를 우리나라 발음으로 읽은겁니다. 영어권의 경우 한자를 아예 안 쓰니 이해가 안 되실 수도 있네요. 그리고 영상에서 고한이 밥이라고 하셨는데 오반의 반 자도 한자 밥 반자입니다.😊

Korean and Japanese have words that are derived from the same Chinese characters, which means that they have the same underlying meanings, even though their pronunciations may differ, and are written using their respective writing systems, Hangul and Japanese kanji. When the Chinese characters were first introduced, the two languages probably pronounced them as similarly as possible. However, over time, the pronunciation of Chinese characters changed in both languages due to various factors such as the passage of time and the influence of the surrounding languages.
As with all languages, the pronunciation of Chinese characters in Chinese has also changed significantly over time. Both Korea and Japan began to adopt Chinese characters and they naturally became part of each country's language. Interestingly, depending on when they adopted the characters, the same Chinese character can be pronounced quite differently or almost identically. In particular, China was subjected to many invasions by nomadic dynasties, which may have led to more frequent changes in pronunciation, whereas Korea was relatively isolated, which may have caused increasing divergence in pronunciation despite using the same Chinese characters.
한국어와 일본어가 정확히 같은 말을 하고 있는거에요. 한자어를 각자 발음으로 음독하는거거든요. 손고쿠나 손오공이나 같은 한자어를 그대로 읽는거에요. 아마 한자어가 전래된 시기, 그리고 그 나라에서 시간이 흐르면서 변화된 발음 등으로 차이가 생긴거지 맨 처음 받아들였을땐 서로 같은 발음을 최대한 비슷하게 읽었을거에요.
모든 언어가 그렇듯 중국어도 시대에 따라 발음이 많이 변했는데 한국과 일본 모두 어느 시점부터 한자어를 받아들이면서 자연스럽게 그 나라 언어의 일부가 됐어요. 재밌는건 한자어를 언제 받아들였느냐에 따라 같은 한자를 굉장히 다르게 읽기도, 거의 비슷하게 읽기도 해요. 특히 중국은 유목 왕조의 침입을 많이 받으면서 변화가 훨씬 잦았을테고 한국은 비교적 고립되어 있었기 때문에 같은 한자어 발음에도 점점 괴리가 생겼을거에요.

@@wizardkick Yes, I am aware that modern Chinese is quite different from the pronunciation of ancient Chinese. I'm also amazed at how the names of characters in the popular "Romance of the Three Kingdoms(三國志演義)" have changed from the past. I understand that what we commonly refer to as "standard" language is based on a specific dialect, so it's natural that it may not represent all the languages spoken in a country. However, having a standard is still meaningful.
I believe Chinese standard language is based on a modified version of the Beijing dialect, and considering Beijing's location in the northern part of China, it may have been influenced by invasions from nomadic tribes, including their language. Additionally, due to the vast size of China, it's natural for there to be numerous dialects in different administrative regions, and even though they all fall under "Chinese," they can be so different that communication can be challenging. Moreover, with the historical mixing of various ethnic groups, it's not surprising at all.

For Sailor Moon, the name Serena was for the child of Queen Serenity. Serena and Darien;s daughter is name Serena as well, but called her Rini to not confuse the two, just like the Japanese version did with Usagi and Chibi-usa. Also, Tsukino Usagi is rabbit based off the Japanese tales of the rabbit of the moon.
Maybe someone pointed this out already, but Detective Conan was on Adult Swim back in the day! It was called Case Closed in the US. I remember watching it in the early 2000s. 🙂

11:23 there was an English version of Conan back then. On I think adult swim, he was Conan edogawa though. That and the American name for the it was "Case closed" instead of detective Conan.
The Dragon Ball character Son Goku's name is a deliberate reference to the Chinese mythical figure Sun Wukong, a.k.a. the Monkey King, who travels with a Tang-dynasty priest and two other companions to retrieve Buddhist sutras from India in the literary novel Journey to the West. The League of Legends character is also based on this figure. In the literary tradition, the Monkey King often flies on a cloud, caries a large extendable staff/cudgel, and can transform himself into any of a huge variety of animals and objects.

Technically, America *did* have Conan (or "Case Closed" as it had to be called due to copyright issues), but it never really found an audience. Adults were confused by the little kid characters and it was considered too violent *for* kids. So they played it super late at night and eventually stopped dubbing it after 130 episodes.
It's seeing a bit of a resurgence these days, though, now that anime is more mainstream. They've dubbed movies 19-24 and about 50 or so episodes available on Tubi, keeping the original Japanese names this time.
Fun fact! There was a English dub of the first series of Pretty Cure, featuring Cure Black and Cure White. I think their English names were Natalie (Black) and Hannah (White)?

쿠파의 이름에 대한 재미있는 사실이 있는데요, 마리오 제작 당시에 제작자가 한국의 국밥을 듣고 '국밥'이란 단어가 굉장히 쎄고 강한 단어로 들렸다고 해요.
그래서 쿠파라고 이름 지었다고 하는 에피소드가 있어요.
Interestingly, here in the Philippines, when anime programs are broadcast, they either take the English name (e.g. Ash Ketchum) or the Japanese (e.g. Conan Edogawa). Then, aside from the shows mentioned, the other popular ones here are Voltes V and Slam Dunk

I didn't watch a lot of Pretty Cure (I mean I like what I have seen of it! And I also watched the subbed version.) but now it makes sense as to why I had a Japanese friend call me Miyuki.
Unsure if this was commented already. Sailor Moon is named Usagi because of the Rabbit in the Moon. And in North America (I'm Canadian) they used Serena because it was another form of "Selene" who was a Moon Goddess in the Greek Pantheon.

Dragon Ball characters are named after certain things, Gokou's OG gang are named after food( or related to food), Bulma's family are named after underwears hence Bulma's name is Buruma in Japanese, because it's derived from BLOOMER shorts, Saiyans are vegetables, King Piccolo offsprings are named after musical instruments, Freeza's family related to cold (King Cold, Coola/Cooler, Freeza/Freezer)
DUring 90's in the Philippines, in the tagalog dubbed BUNNY is the name use for USAGI.

밥이라는 이름으로 직역하자니 부자연스럽고 대신 비슷한 의미의
오반(점심밥) 이라는 뜻으로 번역한거임
지금은 잘 안 쓰는 단어지만
옛날에는 점심을 오반 또는 오찬이라고 부르기도 했음ㅋ

I don’t know if it was really broadcasted in US, but If you google with the word “ドラえもん アメリカ版,” you can see some articles in Japanese.

2:02 정확히는 아인슈타인 같은 천재적 이름을 쓰려 했는데 그냥 손오공의 할아버지 (잘 따지고 보면 아버지 같은) 의 이름인 손오반의 이름을 따와서 손오반 2세이기도 하지만 2세를 아예 안붙여 불러 손오반이다 (참고로 베지터는 본명이 베지터4세 이다)
대학교 다닐때 어쩌다가 기숙사 휴게실에서 중국교환학생, 일본교환학생, 저 셋이 모여서 같이 명탐정코난 얘기를 한 적이 있는데 일본어를 어느정도 알고 있었고 코난을 일본어로 봤어서 일본교환학생하고는 같은 이름으로 인물얘기를 할 수 있었는데 중국교환학생은 이름이 달라서ㅋㅋ 일본학생이랑 같이 열심히 캐릭터 설명을 해서 맞춰봤었던 기억이 있어요 ㅋㅋ 굉장히 재미있었던 기억이 남아있는데 컨텐츠로 되니까 그때 생각도 나고 재미있네요 ㅋㅋ
Davemight not have stayed up to watch it, but Detective Conan was on Cartoon Network mostly around 3-4am, so it didn't catch on as much as other animes that were shown earlier in the day.

In Italy we use the same English names for Pokémon and Dragonball characters (except for Piccolo, we call him Junior💀), while the rest of them we kept the Japanese names (Sakura, Conan, Takao, Nobita, Shinchan etc.)
We use "Bunny" for Sailor moon and "Squiddy" for Squidward too
Squidward was translated to Spanish as Calamardo ('Calamar' = 'Squid')

쿠파 이름유래가 보스의 좀강할것같은 이름을 찾다가 한국에 "국밥"이라는 단어를 듣고 강한 보스의 느낌이 난다고하여 쿠파라고 탄생했다던데

한국에서는 베이블레이드하고 탑블레이드는 다른애니.. 아니였나용?? ㅋㅋㅋ 엄청 씹덕토크이지만... 장난감도 차이가 커요 ㅎㅎ 탑블레이드는 팽이끼리 부딪히면 나가 떨어지는거에 반해 베이블레이드는 부딪히면 팽이가 분리가 되었던 걸로 알고있음... 것도 여러종류가 있고 조합도 여러조합이 있어서 팽이가 많은사람이 유리한 편이였던걸로 ㅎㅎㅎ 옛날에 미니카 부품모아 조립하듯이 ㅋㅋㅋ

I would like to point out that in Card Captor Sakura they kept her name the same, but pronounced it as Sa- KUH-ra. Emphasis on the kuh sound. I cringe every time I hear it.
I do think that English dubs now are leaning into keeping the characters name the same now or making a more literal translation if it has something to do with the plot.
4kids dub of Tokyo Mew called Mew Mew Power. The names were so different. Same with the rest of the Sailor Scouts names and Mamoru/Darien in Sailor Moon.

카스미 뜻은 한국어로 안개꽃이라 영어판도 안개가 들어가는 미스티인것 같고 한국은 사람이름으로 안개를 안쓰니까 비슷한 이슬이 된 것 같네용
디지몬어드벤쳐의 타이치라는 이름은 원래 야가미 타이치로 한국으로 디지몬이넘어올때
앞에 야가미를 빼고 한자식 이름인 八神太一 에서 八을빼고 神太一 이이름으로 한국로컬라이징으로 지었습니다
그래서 한자식을 그대로 읽어서 신태일이라는 이름이탄생한거죠

I bet Detective Conan never made it into the US because of potential copyright issues. You have Conan the Barbarian and of course, Conan O’Brien, arguably the best of all the Conans.

Omg founding out that conan was never in the US, makes sense why we use conan's japanese names in the Arabic dub, meanwhile all the others that are dubbed in english we use the same names just in an Arabic accent 😂 oh same for Doraemon they made an arabic name for him abqoor عبقور which means genius but the rest of characters are named in japanese with arabic accent
