Thank you! I love the scooter and the brakes were always an issue so much to the point where they didn't work but watching your video allowed me the opportunity to fix the brakes quickly
Thank you big time for this video. I received my G4 today and the brakes were mushy. I read the directions that come with the scooter and they were unhelpful until I saw this video which made it easy. Also the GoTrax manual calls for a 4mm hex wrench, mine used a 5mm hex wrench. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video. I had to do this when I got my scooter out of he box in order to connect the cable to the brake handle in the first place! The written instructions were a joke.
@@riisparklover where can you buy a break caliper mines stripped and screws/bolts do not tighten the breaks!!! Is there another brand for gotrax dies not
Hey Jason, I just got this G4 and fresh out of the box, the brakes are making a rusted / scraping noise? I am so confused. It sounds like a super old brake but its brand new. Any suggestions? Thanks
"195-ish pounds"... hahaha. Awesome. And we all know that there's nothing better than a really tight... brake system. GREAT video. Very helpful - I'll have to join the FB group, as my GT G4 is arriving today.
Hey jay thanks for this video I was having trouble with the brakes not working as good but then I did this method and the breaks work 100 times better thanks I gave a thumbs up👍👍
Does your g4 wine when walking with it I tried tightening the brakes but still noise. I also try losing up the nut just a lil bit,but still a light wining while walking with it
Hi Jay! I got my G4 four days ago and it's been really good riding the scooter. However, i have this faint squealing noise coming from the brakes and i noticed that the first day of using it, i still have the same squealing noise and i am not sure what to do. I also have frontl ight problem where the light just turns off randomly while i am riding at night. The battery seems concerning to me too, when it's fully charged, about a mile and the battery just goes down fast, does any have those problems and what do you suggest? Thanks
Whereas I applaud the fact that you are the only reference to adjust G4 brakes, this manner is just a temporary fix, and will cause the outside pad to wear prematurely. The proper way to assure proper friction on the rotor is to adjust the inside pad by removing the caliper so it is as close to the inside rotor and not touching it. Set the distance by adjusting the placement of the caliper. This method is only a temporary fix and will require users to keep adjusting it to a point that there isn't sufficient throw to actually stop the scooter. But honestly, the rear brakes on this device are a poor method to safely stop the device. Remove the caliper and adjust the inside pad to just before it touches the inside rotor, then adjust the outside properly. Just saying. Users will get to a point where they have worn the outside caliper and are unable to stop the device. Otherwise, thanks for posting EDIT.. so sad that the seller of this device doens't provide users with any information about how to maintain the vehicle in an operational manner, nor any normal maintenance instructions.. much less NO PARTS
Awesome! I was just working on my brakes today. I just have 2 questions. What are the screws on the wire for? The one with 1 big nut and 1 small nut. Does that adjust the brake at all? Second question is that Gotrax recommended 50 psi for tires. Did they get that wrong?
Great video, does the G4 also have adjustment points in the caliper as well like most scooters? points where the pads can be adjusted from both sides of the rotor?
Helen Street do u mean the ability to slide the brake pad closer or further from the disk? Yes we did not address that as we didn’t want to mess with it
Jay Do you have the issue with engaging the throttle when kicking off. I had a GXL V2 that I upgraded from which never had the delay in the throttle. That one as long as you were 1.5mph or so more it would engage every time I pushed the throttle. This new G4 sometimes works on the first press but most the the time I have to push the throttle then let up and press it again to engage the motor. It does not seem to matter how fast the kickoff is. Was just wondering if you were experiencing that as well and wondered if maybe there is an issue with the throttle.
Matthew Paul I definitely have not been experiencing that. I sometimes have to kick twice but it’s rare. Perhaps you’re not kicking hard enough. Although you said you are kicking pretty strong.
Good thing you made this video so people can fix this crap themselves because gotrax is a terrible company. They have an F rating on the Dallas Texas better business bureau. They don't do any of their own assembly or repairs. Fully Chinese made and assembled scooters. They will make people wait for months on an exchange while they sell new buyers scooters claiming to be out. Support knows nothing about their products.

Glad u found value in the video....yeah mushy brakes are dangerous
hey man im really happy you made this video. it worked very well and thanks for the help!

Hahahaha that is awesome Jay! Thank you for including me. Let's do it more often.
Glad you liked it man. Yeah definitely let’s do more

Glad you were able to get it worked out
This was a great fix! Thanks for the video, but when should the brakes be replaced? When I brake, it's starting to make a screeching sound.

Caliper on mine needs to be adjusted like every 3 weeks or month bc the calipee rubs. Is that normal? I ride on rough roads tho?
Do u think u will make for tips or trick videos about this scooter?
Would love to see a video of how to change the battery or where to purchase battery for it
We’ll get working on that video soon
In the gotrax g4 user manual it says to inflate tires to 50PSI should I do it to 50 like it says in manual or 40?
thank you the brake line needed adjustment
Hey I got a flat tire on the back wheel can you please make a video on how to replace?!? These are the only videos I understand or what could I do ?
Lmao I crashed the other day cuz my g4 breaks clamp too fast, thx for this video
can also loosen the actual caliper if you snug the pads too tight via cable
What is the attachment to loosen the screw?
What about when you adjust them? But then u pull the brakes you hear a pop then brakes dont work.
That's awesome. Gonna try it now
Thanks brother
can you do a review on the gotrax apex folding scooter?
Can you do a video like this for the gmax edition?
My handbrake wire is too short on my gotrax gxl v2. Help pls!

It's actually 36psi, the xr elite is 50psi

Yes that was what i meant it can be a hassle but it is really am adjustment for pad wear when adjusting the cable yeilds no results

You need to walk with the scooter until you see the mph. As soon as you turn it on and try to go, it won't work
I'm interested in purchasing this scooter, however, I need to know if this scooter is a good pick for someone that is 6'4?
stay away
I think being 6’4” is right at the upper end of being comfortable on this or most other scooters 🛴.
Can you show me some tires for it cause mine pooped
:: Someone told me tightening the brake affects the mileage. Is this true?
I'm not sure I would like to know also
hey gut my brake disc is rubbing on the pad how could i adjust
I will be filming that vid tomorrow
Gotta be careful though when you going 20mph and you hit the brakes the scooter can slide out from under you.
40 psi. My car tires are 32
