I still feel that Jinkx AND Monet were both deserving winners, but if production wanted to crown Jinkx without the fandom imploding, a lip sync for the crown was NOT it.
I’m pretty sure they did that on purpose so we keep talking about the season. They could’ve easily ditched the format or picked a song that suited Jinkx… Monet doing way better in the lipsync makes the fandom question the outcome for years to come.

I actually have a theory that this season isn't particularly more rigged than others, rather, the queens are all so successful that they can be honest about the entire scenario without worrying about getting their careers destroyed by WOW. They're always this rigged, just for once we finally have a cast that are all powerful and successful enough that they have no need to hide the rigging.
I thought this to some degree too. Also the cast is filled with queens who know drag race in and out which is probably why production had to keep a lot of the rigging for the editing room since the queens would probably be much more able to notice and call it out then new contestants on a regular season of even a regular all stars where everyone is still looking for some type of redemption
They might be popular now but biting the hand that feed you might backfire in the long run, as WoW can ban them from being invited again in the future. Also in the past I'm sure productions has in one way or another favored them to win. This time around it's not them, so they'll say there's rigory bc its not on their favor. Anyway, whatever they do know, either will in their favor or might backfire.
@@gracen888 the point is that they're so successful they don't need to care about being invited back to drag race. Obviously for any special event where the winners must be featured (like the 100th episode) they'll be invited even if they pulled a Tyra Sanchez. Anything else would be a special appearance, they could take or leave as they probably make more money just by being on their phone for a couple hours. They have no reason to be WOW's pet at all, and WOW has every reason to keep them in their corner
Raja is known as a look queen, but looking back to her season she did great in all kind of challenges. She did great in the Snatch Game and also in the stand-up challenge. She is the full package
Yvie Oddly's alternative style of drag and disability was definitely mistreated on this season...it seems like an extension of the bad disability treatment they gave to Willow Pill recently on Season 14, praising her for "overcoming" her illness and ignoring it.
this is not only a problem in TV or RPDR. Personally I've been asked to keep my bad traits outside the workplace like I could choose or control my autism. People think they/we can pick and choose which traits to keep from our disabilities because they don't like feeling uncomfortable because of it. I'm a package deal, you either accept me entirely or you don't.
Completely agree. Ru just goes wow you're so inspirational you never complain! And in reality disabled people deserve accommodations and to talk openly about our struggles like anyone else.
I won't stop talking about how in Willow Pill's case, production deliberately forced her to suffer through the Glamazon Prime challenge and have her struggle through making a garment while losing sensation in her hands just so they could manufacture some trauma porn. An inspirational sob story rings pretty hollow when it was created by refusing to give a disabled person necessary accommodations and making them find a way to deal with it.
and it's something i don't understand especially in all stars, why ONE final lipsync would have to determine the winner of the entire competition? if someone has been spectacular during the whole competition without fail, why should she lose just because the other danced swish swish better at the very end? (not saying Monét did poorly btw, i love her and she did great, but compared to Jinkx, it's obvious who deserved to win more)
in my head, that last lipsync never mattered from the moment RuPaul said "based on this lipsync ~~~and your performance through the season"~~> That's it, Jinkx won. The lipsync is a moo point.
Bianca 100% deserved to win her season and NEVER could have lip synced for the crown. Moreover, drag isn’t lip syncing. they are overlapping activities, but the way this show is, you’d think lip syncing was the most important part - After all, the lip syncing saves you from a bad performance in every other part of the competition.
Yes! Or have four winning characters, each worth a star. Making the talent show be worth 3-stars while snatch game was only one, made absolutely no sense.
Because snatch game is a very particular thing to nail. We all know certain queens would FLOOR it while others were just meh. But in the talent show, it's more of what they can bring, everything is on equal footing.

Personally I've always felt people who think the final lip sync is more important than track record are just wrong, and honestly people who use that argument are just mad their fave didn't win. At the end of the day it's productions fault for keeping this antiquated finale format for so long. The season 9 rose petal moment was iconic, but there will likely never be a finale lip sync that lives up to that one - and that was only the semi-final lip sync of season 9 too.
I agree fully. I think the only reason they do it is to try and make it a 'surprise' who wins. Cause if its just off track record, it's easy to tally up whose won the most and know whose going to win

And not just because it’s one of Katy Perry’s all-time worst songs. Like was anyone looking at her big hits and thinking “You know what would make a great Drag Race lip-sync song? Katy Perry’s silly diss track to Taylor Swift with the awful Space Jam knockoff video! Heck, let’s make it for the final win!” Seriously, I can think of at least 10 other Katy Perry songs that would work better for a lip-sync than Swish Swish.

Old McDonald and the spoken word lipsync were the only remarkable choices to me. “Supernova” is a cool track but we’ve had that song choice already in UKvsTW.
Again, about Shea and Jaida on the design challenge: Jaida had a (very) difficult fabric to sow, as it was recognised by the other queens, so the work she'd done with it was stunning. What wasn't working in Shea's outfit has been expressed pretty good on the pit stop by Bob, when she said that the pants didn't match the top part and they don't mix well together
I would argue Shea had an equally, if not more, difficult job considering the fact that they didn't provide the right fabric to her, and so she had to paint on the fabric to get the details. And idk, I disagree with Bob, it worked with the look.
Shea's outfit looked unfinished. Painting a large cheetah print is not that difficult, it would've taken her like 40 minutes max to get one roll of fabric done. An they have at least 2 days for the design challenge.

I don't understand saying Jinkx didn't have personal moments in the Draguation speeches. She had an anecdote about being run over by a car, and that very heartfelt moment about the body remembering trauma.
Okay so here’s my hot take: not showing negative critiques isn’t an issue because it’s boring or too positive. It’s an issue because it’s completely inauthentic. They were trying to make us think everything was positive and fun and everyone felt great the whole time. But if people were receiving negative critiques they must’ve felt a little sad, or even just have been introspective about it to their friends or in their interview. If you’re not going to show the shady shit you say then don’t say it, Ru always says you can’t blame it on the edit because you said it, so why is she so against letting us here the negative things she has to say about some of our favourite queens of all time? If there’s no shame then why edit it all out? It’s shady
I do not mind them not giving negative critiques because I felt that would make it most likely for other queens to consider coming back. Queens like Trixie who would be a huge draw but reasonably afraid to return (because Trixie may be amazing but she is not amazing at Drag race) may feel that no negative critiques and no eliminations makes the all winners season a safe space.
So. Y’all don’t think the positivity is authentic enough but will allow a production stunt/edit just for the drama. Sounds like a lot of the negativity n drama is inauthentic as well

They honestly could’ve pushed The Vivienne’s and Jinkx’s rivalry if they gave The Vivienne the win in the speech and the roast. This season needed a little bit of drama and production literally had drama in their hands with Jinkx and The Vivienne. They missed out on a huge one, but I guess they never saw The Vivienne as a finalist. The Vivienne was literally robbed and I understand her frustration
I am happy they didn't do the Viv vs Jinkx, cause that would have been terrible for Viv career cause, hundreds of thousands of fans would have called Viv a bully or something and like if the editer wanted, that would have destroyed Viv whole career, their was no way Viv was going to do better than Jinkx, and i think the little drama we had was best for both of them in the sense of their career, the drama i thought was possible was Raja vs Michelle one, like that could have been 🔥🔥🔥( only if Raja and Michelle patched things up in the next episode that is )
that would've been AMAZING 🤩 and no, Jinkx's fans would not have hated on Viv, The Vivienne vs Jinkx rivalry was the reason i started to look at Viv with excitement, and I'm a Jinkx fan. It was just amazing to see two amazing queens having a little rivalry.
I feel like this season is going to be known for high quality drag in the challenges but ageing badly. I can’t wait for this reunion, it better spill everything.
This season was done for pure entertainment, people seem to forget that there’s no way they were going to make the queens look bad because according to the show RuPaul always has the last word, Ru is not going to make one of the queens he crowned look bad because that would put in question his decisions, this season was done based on ego. I truly and firmly believe that Ru always knew who he was going to crown from the start, and those two were Raja and Jinkx, let’s admit it, apart from being amazing queens, they still evoke the old type of drag that RuPaul is always going to prefer. Plus, they’re the OG’s, and it comes down to Ru not wanting to make himself look bad, had Jinkx or Raja not been crowned people would’ve said “Oh so an OG queen can’t win a newer season of Drag Race after all” The production was not going to have it, neither was Ru, and a new gen queen was not going to win this season. I personally think that this season was never going to be fair, and even if it was, they were going to fuck it up anyway at the end. They don’t even care anymore. There were so soooo many ways to crown Jinkx as the winner but a Lip Sync Smack Down for the Crown was NOT one of them, now even when Jinkx dominated the whole season she’s going to be seen as undeserving by some people just because she won two lip syncs that she certainly did not win. This also proves that the lip sync smack down for the crown has to go once and for all.
I think that Shea was a bit of sacrificial lamb of the season. Aside from the first episode, she wasn’t allowed to shine, she had no story line, she had few funny confessionals, and she was just sort of in the background the whole season. I think production did not want a predictable top 4, and by keeping Shea underplayed the whole season and then just letting her snatch a placement at the last possible moment, production ensured that they could get a very shocking Top 4.
I do kinda agree, but I also do think that Shea never reached that top two during the whole season quite fairly (she definitely won with the Y2K challenge, like, without a doubt). She won two challenges that she did fully win, but in the episodes she was high there were clearly better options, like on the Ball, the sewing challenge, and specially in the acting, roast, monologues, etc. With that said, she was constantly in the top without a doubt and is always a very fierce competitor.
@@Manuelcolon24 Well, we see what production wants us to see. A lot of the show is just an illusion. We know that having the best performances and runways do not guarantee a victory, and some challenge winners definitely do not deserve their wins (e.g. Jorgeous winning the design challenge in S14). If production had wanted to ensure that Shea would be in the top, they did not need the 3-star twist because they could have just given her more wins during the season. But Shea's edit, IMO, was deliberately made to look as if she would not make it to the Top 4. Like, I had read the spoilers and knew that she would be in the Top 4, but going into E11, I had no clue how they would make that happen and even thought that the spoilers that I read were wrong
I also think she was held back by production and used for this gag that clearly was never going to be seen as a good gag no matter who you chose for it
Why did people consider Jinkx a bad lipsyncer even before the series when she killed both her season 5 ones? She may not be a dancing diva like some of the other AS7 girls but she slays in presenting the emotion, tone or character of a given song. She knows her strengths, she plays to them.
Bc RPDR fans only consider a queen an assassin if she pulls crazy stunts and don't give a f about face and emotions. Jinkx can't do a cartwheel into a split into a deathdrop while she bakes bread with her pussy doing 37 ruveals in one? Then she's not a good lipsyncer
A better alternative to a final lipsync would've been a final showcase, have them bring something they do in their entertainment outside to the stage. Like the talent show but more refined as there is only two contestants, let them bring their A-Game.

I cant with Derrick (ft. Meatball) just ATE india ferrah and her husband in the Twitter Smackdown! And the sickening untucked of Shea, Roxxxy, Alexis Mateo and Jiggly with India?? slay! And the special Domino's cameo in Indias exit was stunning.
The real riggory was the song choices this season honestly... Not bad songs themselves, but when you have Old MacDonald versus Kings and Queens, its not even surprising Kings and Queens flopped and the prior was one of the best. Sometimes they pick songs that are just kind of "radio bops" that don't feel fun to lip sync to...believe me I've tried.
Just want to say thanks for acknowledging that Jinkx did a great job in the Judas lip sync! She was serving such deliciously witchy energy on that, it's honestly one of my favorite lip sync performances to watch.
I thought the giving away the star was worse then the 3 star twist and I also think they could have done 2 stars for the last challenge which would have been much less ridiculous and would give us the same outcome. Monet with 4 stars and Shea with 3 she could easily win a tiebreaker lip-sync against anyone.
Tbh it should have been 2 stars for the snatch game and 2 for the talent show Alternatively, it could have been 4 stars for snatch game. 2 for the best in round 1 and 2 for the best in round 2 Top 2 overall lip sync
From my perspective, I agree with Jinkx winning because they killed the season and I have seen some people make the comment of "Monet won the finale but Jinkx won the season" and I completely agree. I disagree with this fan idea of the challenges themselves being rigged for Jinkx because I feel like every type of challenge that they could be strong in, they have a couple of other queens who are also strong in that area e.g. Speeches/Roast (Raja & Monet are predictably the strongest), Acting (The vivienne and Trinity), Comedy (Also Viv and Trinity), Dance challenges (Shea, Monet, Yvie) & Design (Raja, Trinity & Jaida). Every type of challenge had multiple queens who could excel. So I disagree with the challenges being made for Jinkx, I just think that they are one of the most versatile queens in AS7. The Finale: The songs felt very rigged for Raja in the 1st tournament (all older, classic style songs with push-it being the most "out-there" pick). The 2nd tournament felt weighed against Jinkx (So what and Swish Swish aren't really songs I think they would win), if they wanted Jinkx to win the final lipsync they should have used Judas there and then Jinkx would have gave us a really strong final lipsync. The 3-star twist: This felt off because the could have done 2 stars and it would have worked better (given Monet/Jinkx (4 stars each) both a choice as too who out of the 3 queens with 3 stars (Shea, Jaida & Trinity). It would have helped make it not feel as though Shea was being pushed. The way I think it could have worked better is progressively increasing the stars during the season (1 star for the first 6eps, 2 stars for the next 3eps and then 3 stars for the final 2 eps). That way each time the stars increased, six stars were up for grabs and more stars are added to the mix and make the later challenges carry even more weight but not to the point that they can completely change the rankings too drastically. TLDR: Jinkx won, Monet is a great preforming, Shea was screwed over by the 3-star twist despite making the top4 because of it, production made a mess of a season which is still pretty good.
Can we talk about how I think they hired Bob the Drag Queen specifically for the Pit Stop this season so that she couldn’t make Purse First Impressions? We alll know that Bob is very candid on her own show.. wonder what she would’ve thought about all the riggory.
Thats not true, Bob and Monet said on the podcast this week that they COULD have done watchery/PFI of AS7 when it was airing but decided not to. Bob thought it was redundant to repeat their opinions on two outlets simultaneously. They're doing a look back together now after seeing the entire season.
My crackpot theory is that the cut Rusical they replaced with the Tiktok challenge was a Dolly-themed one, and they just put the runway that would’ve gone with that episode instead of this one

My main conspiracy theory is that Raja was purposefully given less stars throughout the season (or at least, the talent show) so that she could be given the win/prize for the second crown.
Wondering about the complete mess "if AS7 had eliminations" video cause it's possible we'd have Shea and Monet be taken out early and Raja and Vivienne make it to the end. If it's a top 2 format then Jinkx likely gets Manila'd the first oppurtunity she's in the bottom.
Yeah in the first or second design challenge jinkx is getting the chop while I think people like Monet and Shea were actually pretty consistent and wouldn’t have that much bad performances to be placed in the bottom 2
@@therogue1542 Jinkx also genuinely did the worst in the design challenge so it wouldn't have even necessarily been a "Manila" moment. Whoever wanted to eliminate their competition could've just said they were being fair by eliminating the person who did the worst in the challenge, because everyone else did well otherwise. WE know it would've been strategic - but they would've been more likely to do it bc they could play it as a pr thing.
My top 4 was Raja, Vivienne, Jaida and Jinkx. Gotta say, the not elliminating anyone for a whole season made it infinitely more enjoyable. Would like to see it implemented more

def was funny but i think it gets overshadowed by Jaidas performance on the whole of the president speech episode from her original season. Nothing will ever beat the look over there joke for me. (Heidi breaking character adds so much to the hilarity that it that episode.)
it’s been confirmed that production has changed a lip sync song in the past to favor jinkx - why couldn’t they have done that this time? even if monet still slayed the lip sync to a song more in jinkx’s wheelhouse (which she most likely would, monet is one of the best lipsyncers around) if it was a closer call, i feel like there would be so much less controversy. both monet and jinkx deserve better - hell, the whole cast does. all the queens slayed and they deserve the utmost respect and praise.
It wasn't confirmed it was actually changed becacsue of Jinx - it is only Detox version and Detox doesn't know the exact reason as he can only guess that. but even if they would had kept first song choice Detox would had lost. His outftif was just not made for both choices, Jinxx had more freedom in movement which would still worked in her favor. I would even argue that Malambo no.1 was picked not because of Jinxx, but because of Detox outfit, as it worked ONLY for that song, helping Detox to play opera singer-like character for it.
So many things to comment about: - Swish Swish has to be one of the worst Production choices of all time, because if they crown Jinkx, everyone is mad because she lost the lipsync, but if they crown Monet everyone knows it was rigged for her. Lose Lose situation. I think a lot of complaints about the season until the last two episodes would’ve been solved by having just One winner per episode (that gets two stars) and TWO high queens that get one star. Then no one complains about Raja and Trinity being High in episodes two and Three, and Yvie rightfully gets stars in episode 4 and 5 etc.
I think the queens on this season feel betrayed because they have all been on seasons where they were favored, and suddenly the knife is cutting the other way.

The final lip sync NEVER determines the winner. It was always decided based on fan votes or better track record who ultimately wins, so Jinkx beating Monét wasn't any more unusual than Trixie beating Kennedy, cause Trixie is obviously the most popular queen, Yvie winning despite Brooke having the better track record, because the whole fandom adored Yvie etc. Jinkx had BOTH: fan support AND the superior track record. I just don't think a lip sync smack down was the right choice
I will not take the 2Getha 4Eva slander. They ate and left no crumbs and it's LITERALLY one of my favorite girl group performances from the series. Titanic did exactly what you expected them to do which was very *yawn* and like it was cute? But the angle the other group took was so beyond camp and still maintained the theme of the challenge.
The viral dance challenge was a well-deserved win for Jinkx. Ru says “know who you are and bring it every challenge.” Jinkx knows she’s not a dancer, so she brought comedy instead. Also, I honestly thought they called that a “branding challenge” in the episode. Jinkx definitely won a branding challenge.
I think Yvie was very overlooked this season. In most of the challenges, she delivered and brought something fresh and unique to the table. The only challenge she really floundered in was the snatch game. But the producers edited her to where she was just kinda there for most of the season.
After almost a year after the season is out, now that I’m thinking about it why didn’t they made a live finale, the season was already hyped up by the media, it could’ve been such a spectacle, imagine each winner getting their own songs, the budget etc it would work so well

I feel people miss the mark with the tiktok challenge, it's not just a "tiktok" challenge, it was a BRANDING challenge and Ru said since the beginning "make it funny", so Jinkx was never going to lose that challenge with those two things already established.

I remember watching the first episode and thinking that every queen will have an entire episode focused on her, just like the 1st one was focused on Shea, and the second one kinda was on Jinkx. Also remember being kinda disappointed when i realized that the season wasn't going to be like that

@@cottongarlic8632 You do make a good point though. Because in recent seasons, the main objective in these types of challenges is simply to make RuPaul laugh. If you look at All Stars 8 for example, it has mostly comedy, acting, and improv based challenges. Which puts queens like Kahanna at a disadvantage because she is a performer, not an actress. Meanwhile those same types of challenges give queens like Jimbo an advantage considering that she’s not a performer, but she’s an amazing actress. I feel like that same concept applies here. Even though Monet did the actual dance part of the assignment, Jinkx clearly did the comedic part of the assignment, which was what RuPaul asked them.
Lipsyncs for the crown must go, srsly, they're so tired and only serve the purpose to show predictable reveals and upset the fandom whatever the outcome is. A queen wasn't on top the whole season but wins the final bc she slays the lipsync? She doesn't deserve to win. A queen dominates the season but lipsyncing isn't her strong suit? She doesn't deserve the win. I've seen the same people screaming about track record never being taken into consideration now mad bc of the queen with the best track record won, ppl who said Moné didn't even deserve to be casted in the first place, let alone being in the top4, now raging bc she didn't win the entire season bc of one lipsync. It's just a lazy and easy way to do a finale - and that's why producers keep doing it imho. The talent show should've been the final episode, expecially if this was always going to be more of a "celebratory" season, whatever the talent was no one could really argue with whoever won bc of track record, honestly.
I think a lipsync smackdown has more sense as a normal challenge and the top 2 get the stars and the winner can for example steal one star from other competitor. And for the final episode is the talent show. Not every winner has to be the best lipsync assassin but every winnner has a great talent to display.
100% agree on s12 I didn’t really take much notice of Jada obviously she was smashing it but I feel like we don’t get much of her but in as7 i just loved her , she was so fun to watch and to see she is really goofy 😁 glad we got to see her again
i for one loved the fact how quickly she got over her missing out on the finale. The contrast of the saddened face on the runway to being literally swung in the air by other queens not even 5 minutes late is hilarious
@@emersagro Yh she has really good vibes and I’m kicking myself that I not necessarily ignored her but there was a lot of push being focused on the other queens such as Heidi and Crystal etc , I did binge this show in lock down so there were a lot of queens I was having to remember, but I’m so glade we got to see her and I got to just love her

honestly I don't fkin care if this season was rigged or not, I fkin loved seeing these queens back, and just enjoyed the season throughout. Congratulations to Jinkx, and thank you to ALL of the queens who were on this season for giving us an incredible time watching!
could not agree more, only thing that was kinda annoying to watch was seeing raja not be able to make the top 2 for the first couple of episodes even though (in my extremely biased) eyes she deserved it

This is a highly-edited, highly-scripted television competition. WOW is making a product, not a one-to-one realistic diary, and this is what they chose to portray. I’d say from episode 4 to the roast challenge Viv was a huge threat because she could’ve been in the top again for both the speeches and roast challenges.
Shea and Monet should have been too two, not viv and Yvie. I’m sorry but Y2k girl groups = sexy not funny and shea and Monet had all the right references and the attitude to match
Agree with Viv but Yvie ate, she was def my top Legend that week. Shea and Monet did great and either could’ve easily replaced Viv but to me, Yvie had the most fun with her performance, she was the most on during her performance and had the best vocal performance on the track. Though it’s all subjective ofc, just depends on what criteria each person wants to weigh for the challenge.
I feel like they could easily make Jinkx win without all that bs. I wish they gave proper representation and respect for all the girls and had more balanced challenges. For me there would be no issue to have Jinkx in top 4 with other girls with the same score and win it based on a final challenge that is a production targeted at the top 2/4 girls. Like imagine if they just gave them few days and a budget and told them to do something that screams winner. Monet could do a podcast/X Change rate with RuPaul, or a proper lipsync extravaganza and Jinx would be able to do a theatrical musical/show like her Christmas special with Bendela. Jinkx doesn't need an easy mode to win all of it. And that even if definitely would help her, it would be also fair to other girls. After so many All Stars seasons without lipsync for your life, I dont see any merits of doing it in this season. Especially as Jinkx didn't show outstanding lipsync skills in that season, opposite to people like Monet who evolved since her previous seasons. This just leaves a distaste to Jinkx's crown.

as a brit im gonna defend vivienne winning the 2000s girl group challenge. It was very reminiscent of 2000s uk artists like Lily Allen and other indie bands at the time where they sing in a thick english accent and talk about every day shit, like drinking tea. I thought she did good
I will say that the queens haven’t been getting mad at Jinx rather production and have stood up for her against the fans…obviously jinx isn’t going to say anything to production because why would she? She’s there to win $200k and I won’t buy any bs from the other girls saying they would have said something because in all of their seasons they were favored at some point and again they are there to win $200k not to be a good person. That being said, I feel like if they do have a reunion they need to do it in a way that frames production as the bad guy and admit that if they were in Jinx’s shoes they would have done the same thing she did and that the rigging wasn’t her fault, unless something happened behind the scenes with Jinx blatantly doing something then call her out. I also think Jinx has stayed quite, not done viewing parties, etc because she knew what production was doing and she had to walk a fine line.
The prompt for the TikTok Challenge was to make a dance that would go viral, is jinkx's less dancey? sure, but of all those dances it would have 100% gone the most viral.
Right? Because it was the funniest and anyone can do it (unless you're allergic to peanuts lol). I thought Jinkx and Yvie did best on that challenge. Yvie's was funny, good branding, and it showed step by step clearly how to do it. Monet's showed a few steps and then suddenly here's a much more complicated dance!
Making the final decision come down to a lip sync for the crown is just a shit idea. Lip syncing ability is obviously important for a drag queen, but not so important that it deserves to be the one and only deciding factor of who wins. That's bs.

Shea definition of eating a lipsync is just copying the choreo the entire dance, everytime they showed her in the lipsync either close-up or wide shot she was just doing the choreo, that was lazy for her when she slayed Supernova the week before...

At the end of the day the edit has to help tell what happened in the eyes of the judges. So even a completely “fair” season needs to be edited so we can fairly see the winner as a clear winner.
The biggest riggory moment to me was Monet's win for the TikTok challenge. I'm surprised this video never uses the word "brand" or "branding," because that was 50% of the prompt - and 100% why Jinkx won. I'm a Monet fan, but 1) her only money-themed dance moves were not hers (RuPaul literally handed the idea to her), and 2) most of her dance was other - actual - dance moves that she never taught us. Total riggory so we could see her Julia-Sugarbaker the house down boots. Which she did (and I'm not mad about it)!
The prompt for the tick tock dance challenge was a dance BRANDING challenge and ru made sure to say branding was most important obviously it sus as hell but it makes sense jinkx won that way
i thought jaida was one of the best in the acting challenge! she didn't have a like haha funny role but she played the character perfectly and it was so different from what she usually does (unlike trinity's performance)
Super late to the party here, but I've been devouring your videos and love them. Thank you!! Just wanted to offer my two cents on Jinkx's performance in her Draguation speech, which I considered a perfect (and thoughtful, intentional) combination of comedy and personal moments...she really *was* hit by a car in Amsterdam while drunk exactly the way she described it, and tying in the whole "Your body remembers tragedy even when your mind doesn't so you should deal with your tragedy now" (paraphrased, obviously) thing was perfectly balanced with the general comedic tone of the speech.
I walked by my iPad and glanced while you were talking about the Dolly Parton runway and all the girls were sitting there in their dolly looks and for a split second I thought they looked like the founding fathers. I love Shea but that wig was awful and definitely not Dolly, way more Thomas Jefferson vibes.
the part about jaidas sewing challenge looked bugged me lmao, its a difficult fabric that can easily swallow u yet she made a amazing look. trinity also made a amazing look but had a more basic fabric and made a ruched tube dress with a tiered tulle bottom which honestly isnt that hard. both were amazing but discrediting jaidas look wasn't needed when comparing the two imo...

Tbh I think a lot of people think Monet won this season - she definitely deserved a top 4 spot and when it comes down to it, no matter how people changed their subjective challenge wins usually the final lip sync would have been Jinx vs Monet. So by slaying the lip sync, with the format of the show, as sad as I would have been for Jinx because I adore her, I would not be mad, because even from the edited lip sync I could see Monet was doing MILES better. The lip sync was not even close. But also Sasha's lip sync was the best lip sync for the crown of all time, it was a moment and in a league of its own, so I don't think her win needs to be justified - and she also did very well on her season.
idk who these people are but lipsync should never be the finale determining factor. sasha did a great job apart from the lipsync too, she was never in the bottom at all. the lipsync just warps everyone's perceptions of everyone's talents
What I think would be interesting if they continue this format is either an addition or replacement of the plunger (might make the blocking scenes too long) would be to bring in some advantages like on survivor. The queen who wins the lipsync pulls an advantage from the pink furry box. Things like earn an extra star, being able to block another queen from the top can be during critiques so queens can actually know who are the tops of the challenge, stealing stars etc. adds a little more drama and you can even make joint advantages to kind of force alliances. It just overall adds a little more stakes to the whole blocking thing
I think really the big issue here is the lip sync for the win/crown format. It's great when all the competitors are fantastic lip syncers but some of the strongest queens the show has ever seen aren't really. A great example I think is Jimbo on UK vs the world. Yeah people were upset about her elimination and I was too but was Jimbo ever going to win the season? Jimbo was one of the strongest competitors on that season but she was never truly a front runner because she can't lip sync or dance well. As much as people claim the season was "rigged for Jinkx" all the way through there isn't really a challenge Jinkx won that she didn't slay. Even if you swap some of the wins around Jinkx would still end up with the strongest run on the season. So it would be unfair for her not to be in the finale and unfair for her not to have a shot at winning. I actually think production should just return to an individual performances format and then just have Ru pick a winner.
I'm literally so over this vilification of Trinity. The SheDevilByNight stuff was never proven to be true and no credible evidence actually exists that it was her, it's all circumstantial. If any of you actually listened to her podcast you'd know she advocates for trans and black rights, she literally set up a pageant to highlight everyone, including these people, as well as having guests on the podcast from these minorities.
I kinda disagree thank Jinks didnt bring a personal story to the Grad speeches. I have also been hit by a car and it’s pretty violating and you feel a lot of different emotions about it and theyre not always touching in sappy way. She had me cry laughing in a club at the viewing party, totally well deserved.
Yes, and I found her point that the body remembers trauma to be really affecting. Just because she embellished her story to make it funny doesn't mean it wasn't personal.
I'm saying it? I'm saying it. It totally makes sense that Yvie and Viv won the girl group challenge because it's consistent with how they judged the girl group challenges lately: the winners come from the group who did the best and since both Trinity and Raja were pretty meh, while Jinkx and Jaida were ok to me, the Together Forever was the winner team and the top 2 came from that team. The idea was clear (they were rejected from other girl groups) and it was well executed, while the other team's idea was said and never explained or shown anymore and to me this plays a part in that top 2 as well.
Trinity was amazing this season, the most versatile, strong in every single episode and a great person as well. Leaving the controversies aside ;) she was the only real threat to Jinx. However, the Viv should've been top2 in the roast, totally agree on that. The number of laughs per second is not the best way to measure it though, as Jinx was changing rhythm and using pauses for dramatic / comedic purposes. And ofc 3-stars-twist was horrible and the finale was even worse. What a bummer, to end the season with the worst episode, where nothing works, nothing computes. Great summary, agree with all you've said.
Something you've said is interesting. You said during the roast rehearsal Raja had that great joke about rolling a fatty. But we didn't get to actually hear it during the roast. I think this is a good thing. Hearing the exact same joke twenty minutes later would have been stupid. In AS9, they showed Nina's joke about Shannel twice. "The Drag Race fans know her as: Who?" It was very funny the first time we heard it. So producers didn't do her any favors by showing it twice. They should have saved it for the roast. So I disagree with you about having the same jokes be shown twice in one episode.
Why we're acting brand new? Literally, every single season is rigged. And the righory in each season, one way or another, has favoured the eventual winner. Highlighting a queen over others maybe more deserving, and ignoring most of their cast, is the oldest trick in WoW's production team. Drag Race is not a fair drag competition, it's never been, it's about who can deliver entertainment, who RuPaul likes the most. That's why it's RuPaul's Drag Race. The fact they're so bitter about the season being "rigged for Jinkx" is so annoying for me because they wouldn't call it out when it favours them, during their season or this one. Leaves a nasty stain on Jinkx's well earned crown.

So other than the finale the main riggory was the stupid tik tok thing (which according to people was supposed to be moulin ru the rusical which you know would’ve been great to see jinx in since she is a theater queen but production thought the girls wouldn’t get the choreography so they switched it) also with the tik tok thing it was a branding dance challenge so 2 parts jinx took approach with the branding aspect while Monet took the dance approach (also you didn’t mention the fact ru basically gave monet her dance while she didn’t do that for anyone else like they wanted monet to win this week) also kind of a crime you didn’t mention the spoken word lipsync which I really liked but as always props to all the queens and I wish the finale could’ve delivered
I would say yes, Shea deserved to win her original season. But on the other hand, the only way I could find it KIND OF acceptable for someone to win just based on the lip sync is if they did something really gaggy and unique like Sasha did so I understand both sides in this argument. When it comes to this season, even finding out what monet did and production cut it out I don't believe it was soooo gag-worthy and exceptional to the point of giving her the crown when Jinkx had more wins and dominated the season.

I actually have a theory that this season isn't particularly more rigged than others, rather, the queens are all so successful that they can be honest about the entire scenario without worrying about getting their careers destroyed by WOW. They're always this rigged, just for once we finally have a cast that are all powerful and successful enough that they have no need to hide the rigging.
I thought this to some degree too. Also the cast is filled with queens who know drag race in and out which is probably why production had to keep a lot of the rigging for the editing room since the queens would probably be much more able to notice and call it out then new contestants on a regular season of even a regular all stars where everyone is still looking for some type of redemption

Also in the past I'm sure productions has in one way or another favored them to win. This time around it's not them, so they'll say there's rigory bc its not on their favor. @@gracen888 the point is that they're so successful they don't need to care about being invited back to drag race. Obviously for any special event where the winners must be featured (like the 100th episode) they'll be invited even if they pulled a Tyra Sanchez. Anything else would be a special appearance, they could take or leave as they probably make more money just by being on their phone for a couple hours. They have no reason to be WOW's pet at all, and WOW has every reason to keep them in their corner

Raja is known as a look queen, but looking back to her season she did great in all kind of challenges. She did great in the Snatch Game and also in the stand-up challenge. She is the full package

Yvie Oddly's alternative style of drag and disability was definitely mistreated on this season...it seems like an extension of the bad disability treatment they gave to Willow Pill recently on Season 14, praising her for "overcoming" her illness and ignoring it.
Also the sexualisation of Yvie, even if done as a joke, was kinda distasteful.
this is not only a problem in TV or RPDR. Personally I've been asked to keep my bad traits outside the workplace like I could choose or control my autism. People think they/we can pick and choose which traits to keep from our disabilities because they don't like feeling uncomfortable because of it. I'm a package deal, you either accept me entirely or you don't.
Completely agree. Ru just goes wow you're so inspirational you never complain! And in reality disabled people deserve accommodations and to talk openly about our struggles like anyone else.

I won't stop talking about how in Willow Pill's case, production deliberately forced her to suffer through the Glamazon Prime challenge and have her struggle through making a garment while losing sensation in her hands just so they could manufacture some trauma porn. An inspirational sob story rings pretty hollow when it was created by refusing to give a disabled person necessary accommodations and making them find a way to deal with it.

Moreover, drag isn’t lip syncing. they are overlapping activities, but the way this show is, you’d think lip syncing was the most important part - After all, the lip syncing saves you from a bad performance in every other part of the competition.
Why they didn’t award Snatch Game 2 stars is crazy. That one for sure deserved 2 for each winner.

Because snatch game is a very particular thing to nail. We all know certain queens would FLOOR it while others were just meh. But in the talent show, it's more of what they can bring, everything is on equal footing.

Personally I've always felt people who think the final lip sync is more important than track record are just wrong, and honestly people who use that argument are just mad their fave didn't win. At the end of the day it's productions fault for keeping this antiquated finale format for so long. The season 9 rose petal moment was iconic, but there will likely never be a finale lip sync that lives up to that one - and that was only the semi-final lip sync of season 9 too.
I agree fully. I think the only reason they do it is to try and make it a 'surprise' who wins. Cause if its just off track record, it's easy to tally up whose won the most and know whose going to win

This season needed ICONIC legendary drag anthems or something. Old McDonald and the spoken word lipsync were the only remarkable choices to me. “Supernova” is a cool track but we’ve had that song choice already in UKvsTW.
Again, about Shea and Jaida on the design challenge: Jaida had a (very) difficult fabric to sow, as it was recognised by the other queens, so the work she'd done with it was stunning. What wasn't working in Shea's outfit has been expressed pretty good on the pit stop by Bob, when she said that the pants didn't match the top part and they don't mix well together
I would argue Shea had an equally, if not more, difficult job considering the fact that they didn't provide the right fabric to her, and so she had to paint on the fabric to get the details. And idk, I disagree with Bob, it worked with the look.
Shea's outfit looked unfinished. Painting a large cheetah print is not that difficult, it would've taken her like 40 minutes max to get one roll of fabric done. An they have at least 2 days for the design challenge.

Okay so here’s my hot take: not showing negative critiques isn’t an issue because it’s boring or too positive. It’s an issue because it’s completely inauthentic. They were trying to make us think everything was positive and fun and everyone felt great the whole time. But if people were receiving negative critiques they must’ve felt a little sad, or even just have been introspective about it to their friends or in their interview. If you’re not going to show the shady shit you say then don’t say it, Ru always says you can’t blame it on the edit because you said it, so why is she so against letting us here the negative things she has to say about some of our favourite queens of all time? If there’s no shame then why edit it all out? It’s shady

I do not mind them not giving negative critiques because I felt that would make it most likely for other queens to consider coming back. Queens like Trixie who would be a huge draw but reasonably afraid to return (because Trixie may be amazing but she is not amazing at Drag race) may feel that no negative critiques and no eliminations makes the all winners season a safe space.
So. Y’all don’t think the positivity is authentic enough but will allow a production stunt/edit just for the drama. Sounds like a lot of the negativity n drama is inauthentic as well

They honestly could’ve pushed The Vivienne’s and Jinkx’s rivalry if they gave The Vivienne the win in the speech and the roast. This season needed a little bit of drama and production literally had drama in their hands with Jinkx and The Vivienne. They missed out on a huge one, but I guess they never saw The Vivienne as a finalist. The Vivienne was literally robbed and I understand her frustration
I am happy they didn't do the Viv vs Jinkx, cause that would have been terrible for Viv career cause, hundreds of thousands of fans would have called Viv a bully or something and like if the editer wanted, that would have destroyed Viv whole career, their was no way Viv was going to do better than Jinkx, and i think the little drama we had was best for both of them in the sense of their career, the drama i thought was possible was Raja vs Michelle one, like that could have been 🔥🔥🔥( only if Raja and Michelle patched things up in the next episode that is )

This season was done for pure entertainment, people seem to forget that there’s no way they were going to make the queens look bad because according to the show RuPaul always has the last word, Ru is not going to make one of the queens he crowned look bad because that would put in question his decisions, this season was done based on ego.
I truly and firmly believe that Ru always knew who he was going to crown from the start, and those two were Raja and Jinkx, let’s admit it, apart from being amazing queens, they still evoke the old type of drag that RuPaul is always going to prefer. Plus, they’re the OG’s, and it comes down to Ru not wanting to make himself look bad, had Jinkx or Raja not been crowned people would’ve said “Oh so an OG queen can’t win a newer season of Drag Race after all” The production was not going to have it, neither was Ru, and a new gen queen was not going to win this season.
I personally think that this season was never going to be fair, and even if it was, they were going to fuck it up anyway at the end. They don’t even care anymore. There were so soooo many ways to crown Jinkx as the winner but a Lip Sync Smack Down for the Crown was NOT one of them, now even when Jinkx dominated the whole season she’s going to be seen as undeserving by some people just because she won two lip syncs that she certainly did not win. This also proves that the lip sync smack down for the crown has to go once and for all.

I think that Shea was a bit of sacrificial lamb of the season. Aside from the first episode, she wasn’t allowed to shine, she had no story line, she had few funny confessionals, and she was just sort of in the background the whole season. I think production did not want a predictable top 4, and by keeping Shea underplayed the whole season and then just letting her snatch a placement at the last possible moment, production ensured that they could get a very shocking Top 4.

I do kinda agree, but I also do think that Shea never reached that top two during the whole season quite fairly (she definitely won with the Y2K challenge, like, without a doubt). She won two challenges that she did fully win, but in the episodes she was high there were clearly better options, like on the Ball, the sewing challenge, and specially in the acting, roast, monologues, etc.
With that said, she was constantly in the top without a doubt and is always a very fierce competitor.

We know that having the best performances and runways do not guarantee a victory, and some challenge winners definitely do not deserve their wins (e.g. Jorgeous winning the design challenge in S14). If production had wanted to ensure that Shea would be in the top, they did not need the 3-star twist because they could have just given her more wins during the season. But Shea's edit, IMO, was deliberately made to look as if she would not make it to the Top 4. Like, I had read the spoilers and knew that she would be in the Top 4, but going into E11, I had no clue how they would make that happen and even thought that the spoilers that I read were wrong
I also think she was held back by production and used for this gag that clearly was never going to be seen as a good gag no matter who you chose for it

I cant with Derrick (ft. Meatball) just ATE india ferrah and her husband in the Twitter Smackdown! And the sickening untucked of Shea, Roxxxy, Alexis Mateo and Jiggly with India?? slay! And the special Domino's cameo in Indias exit was stunning.
The real riggory was the song choices this season honestly... Not bad songs themselves, but when you have Old MacDonald versus Kings and Queens, its not even surprising Kings and Queens flopped and the prior was one of the best. Sometimes they pick songs that are just kind of "radio bops" that don't feel fun to lip sync to...believe me I've tried.
As much as the riggory was apparent, let's not discredit any queen in this cast ^^
Just want to say thanks for acknowledging that Jinkx did a great job in the Judas lip sync! She was serving such deliciously witchy energy on that, it's honestly one of my favorite lip sync performances to watch.
I thought the giving away the star was worse then the 3 star twist and I also think they could have done 2 stars for the last challenge which would have been much less ridiculous and would give us the same outcome. Monet with 4 stars and Shea with 3 she could easily win a tiebreaker lip-sync against anyone.

From my perspective, I agree with Jinkx winning because they killed the season and I have seen some people make the comment of "Monet won the finale but Jinkx won the season" and I completely agree.
I disagree with this fan idea of the challenges themselves being rigged for Jinkx because I feel like every type of challenge that they could be strong in, they have a couple of other queens who are also strong in that area e.g. Speeches/Roast (Raja & Monet are predictably the strongest), Acting (The vivienne and Trinity), Comedy (Also Viv and Trinity), Dance challenges (Shea, Monet, Yvie) & Design (Raja, Trinity & Jaida). Every type of challenge had multiple queens who could excel. So I disagree with the challenges being made for Jinkx, I just think that they are one of the most versatile queens in AS7.
The Finale: The songs felt very rigged for Raja in the 1st tournament (all older, classic style songs with push-it being the most "out-there" pick). The 2nd tournament felt weighed against Jinkx (So what and Swish Swish aren't really songs I think they would win), if they wanted Jinkx to win the final lipsync they should have used Judas there and then Jinkx would have gave us a really strong final lipsync.
The 3-star twist: This felt off because the could have done 2 stars and it would have worked better (given Monet/Jinkx (4 stars each) both a choice as too who out of the 3 queens with 3 stars (Shea, Jaida & Trinity). It would have helped make it not feel as though Shea was being pushed. The way I think it could have worked better is progressively increasing the stars during the season (1 star for the first 6eps, 2 stars for the next 3eps and then 3 stars for the final 2 eps). That way each time the stars increased, six stars were up for grabs and more stars are added to the mix and make the later challenges carry even more weight but not to the point that they can completely change the rankings too drastically.
TLDR: Jinkx won, Monet is a great preforming, Shea was screwed over by the 3-star twist despite making the top4 because of it, production made a mess of a season which is still pretty good.
Can we talk about how I think they hired Bob the Drag Queen specifically for the Pit Stop this season so that she couldn’t make Purse First Impressions? We alll know that Bob is very candid on her own show.. wonder what she would’ve thought about all the riggory.

My main conspiracy theory is that Raja was purposefully given less stars throughout the season (or at least, the talent show) so that she could be given the win/prize for the second crown.
Wondering about the complete mess "if AS7 had eliminations" video cause it's possible we'd have Shea and Monet be taken out early and Raja and Vivienne make it to the end. If it's a top 2 format then Jinkx likely gets Manila'd the first oppurtunity she's in the bottom.

Whoever wanted to eliminate their competition could've just said they were being fair by eliminating the person who did the worst in the challenge, because everyone else did well otherwise. WE know it would've been strategic - but they would've been more likely to do it bc they could play it as a pr thing.

it’s been confirmed that production has changed a lip sync song in the past to favor jinkx - why couldn’t they have done that this time? even if monet still slayed the lip sync to a song more in jinkx’s wheelhouse (which she most likely would, monet is one of the best lipsyncers around) if it was a closer call, i feel like there would be so much less controversy. both monet and jinkx deserve better - hell, the whole cast does. all the queens slayed and they deserve the utmost respect and praise.
It wasn't confirmed it was actually changed becacsue of Jinx - it is only Detox version and Detox doesn't know the exact reason as he can only guess that. but even if they would had kept first song choice Detox would had lost. His outftif was just not made for both choices, Jinxx had more freedom in movement which would still worked in her favor. I would even argue that Malambo no.1 was picked not because of Jinxx, but because of Detox outfit, as it worked ONLY for that song, helping Detox to play opera singer-like character for it.
So many things to comment about:
- Swish Swish has to be one of the worst Production choices of all time, because if they crown Jinkx, everyone is mad because she lost the lipsync, but if they crown Monet everyone knows it was rigged for her. Lose Lose situation.
I think a lot of complaints about the season until the last two episodes would’ve been solved by having just One winner per episode (that gets two stars) and TWO high queens that get one star. Then no one complains about Raja and Trinity being High in episodes two and Three, and Yvie rightfully gets stars in episode 4 and 5 etc.
I think the queens on this season feel betrayed because they have all been on seasons where they were favored, and suddenly the knife is cutting the other way.
Think about it. If you win once, then go back and lose, you’re going to be a little chuffed about it.

The final lip sync NEVER determines the winner. It was always decided based on fan votes or better track record who ultimately wins, so Jinkx beating Monét wasn't any more unusual than Trixie beating Kennedy, cause Trixie is obviously the most popular queen, Yvie winning despite Brooke having the better track record, because the whole fandom adored Yvie etc.
Jinkx had BOTH: fan support AND the superior track record.

I think Yvie was very overlooked this season. In most of the challenges, she delivered and brought something fresh and unique to the table. The only challenge she really floundered in was the snatch game. But the producers edited her to where she was just kinda there for most of the season.
After almost a year after the season is out, now that I’m thinking about it why didn’t they made a live finale, the season was already hyped up by the media, it could’ve been such a spectacle, imagine each winner getting their own songs, the budget etc it would work so well

@@cottongarlic8632 You do make a good point though. Because in recent seasons, the main objective in these types of challenges is simply to make RuPaul laugh. If you look at All Stars 8 for example, it has mostly comedy, acting, and improv based challenges. Which puts queens like Kahanna at a disadvantage because she is a performer, not an actress. Meanwhile those same types of challenges give queens like Jimbo an advantage considering that she’s not a performer, but she’s an amazing actress. I feel like that same concept applies here. Even though Monet did the actual dance part of the assignment, Jinkx clearly did the comedic part of the assignment, which was what RuPaul asked them.

Lipsyncs for the crown must go, srsly, they're so tired and only serve the purpose to show predictable reveals and upset the fandom whatever the outcome is. A queen wasn't on top the whole season but wins the final bc she slays the lipsync? She doesn't deserve to win. A queen dominates the season but lipsyncing isn't her strong suit? She doesn't deserve the win. I've seen the same people screaming about track record never being taken into consideration now mad bc of the queen with the best track record won, ppl who said Moné didn't even deserve to be casted in the first place, let alone being in the top4, now raging bc she didn't win the entire season bc of one lipsync. It's just a lazy and easy way to do a finale - and that's why producers keep doing it imho.
The talent show should've been the final episode, expecially if this was always going to be more of a "celebratory" season, whatever the talent was no one could really argue with whoever won bc of track record, honestly.
Also, Yvie should've been in the top for the design challenge with the hakama pants, that was an iconic look for me
I think a lipsync smackdown has more sense as a normal challenge and the top 2 get the stars and the winner can for example steal one star from other competitor.

honestly I don't fkin care if this season was rigged or not, I fkin loved seeing these queens back, and just enjoyed the season throughout. Congratulations to Jinkx, and thank you to ALL of the queens who were on this season for giving us an incredible time watching!

Agree with Viv but Yvie ate, she was def my top Legend that week. I feel like they could easily make Jinkx win without all that bs. I wish they gave proper representation and respect for all the girls and had more balanced challenges. For me there would be no issue to have Jinkx in top 4 with other girls with the same score and win it based on a final challenge that is a production targeted at the top 2/4 girls. Like imagine if they just gave them few days and a budget and told them to do something that screams winner.
Monet could do a podcast/X Change rate with RuPaul, or a proper lipsync extravaganza and Jinx would be able to do a theatrical musical/show like her Christmas special with Bendela.
Jinkx doesn't need an easy mode to win all of it. And that even if definitely would help her, it would be also fair to other girls. After so many All Stars seasons without lipsync for your life, I dont see any merits of doing it in this season. Especially as Jinkx didn't show outstanding lipsync skills in that season, opposite to people like Monet who evolved since her previous seasons.
This just leaves a distaste to Jinkx's crown.

as a brit im gonna defend vivienne winning the 2000s girl group challenge. It was very reminiscent of 2000s uk artists like Lily Allen and other indie bands at the time where they sing in a thick english accent and talk about every day shit, like drinking tea. I thought she did good

I will say that the queens haven’t been getting mad at Jinx rather production and have stood up for her against the fans…obviously jinx isn’t going to say anything to production because why would she? She’s there to win $200k and I won’t buy any bs from the other girls saying they would have said something because in all of their seasons they were favored at some point and again they are there to win $200k not to be a good person. That being said, I feel like if they do have a reunion they need to do it in a way that frames production as the bad guy and admit that if they were in Jinx’s shoes they would have done the same thing she did and that the rigging wasn’t her fault, unless something happened behind the scenes with Jinx blatantly doing something then call her out. I also think Jinx has stayed quite, not done viewing parties, etc because she knew what production was doing and she had to walk a fine line.
The prompt for the TikTok Challenge was to make a dance that would go viral, is jinkx's less dancey? sure, but of all those dances it would have 100% gone the most viral.
Right? Because it was the funniest and anyone can do it (unless you're allergic to peanuts lol). I thought Jinkx and Yvie did best on that challenge. Yvie's was funny, good branding, and it showed step by step clearly how to do it. Monet's showed a few steps and then suddenly here's a much more complicated dance!
Making the final decision come down to a lip sync for the crown is just a shit idea. Lip syncing ability is obviously important for a drag queen, but not so important that it deserves to be the one and only deciding factor of who wins. That's bs.

The short weird cuts of the lip sync songs, viv clearly getting a more favoring edit in the roast making the top two confusing, jaidas win that didn’t make sense but did, also yvies, THE JUDAS LIPSYNC. Like in my head I was just like: it’s so obvious and I hate itttttt why not just let it play out naturally

Shea definition of eating a lipsync is just copying the choreo the entire dance, everytime they showed her in the lipsync either close-up or wide shot she was just doing the choreo, that was lazy for her when she slayed Supernova the week before...

At the end of the day the edit has to help tell what happened in the eyes of the judges. So even a completely “fair” season needs to be edited so we can fairly see the winner as a clear winner.
The biggest riggory moment to me was Monet's win for the TikTok challenge. I'm surprised this video never uses the word "brand" or "branding," because that was 50% of the prompt - and 100% why Jinkx won. I'm a Monet fan, but 1) her only money-themed dance moves were not hers (RuPaul literally handed the idea to her), and 2) most of her dance was other - actual - dance moves that she never taught us. Total riggory so we could see her Julia-Sugarbaker the house down boots. Which she did (and I'm not mad about it)!

i thought jaida was one of the best in the acting challenge! she didn't have a like haha funny role but she played the character perfectly and it was so different from what she usually does (unlike trinity's performance)

Just wanted to offer my two cents on Jinkx's performance in her Draguation speech, which I considered a perfect (and thoughtful, intentional) combination of comedy and personal moments...she really *was* hit by a car in Amsterdam while drunk exactly the way she described it, and tying in the whole "Your body remembers tragedy even when your mind doesn't so you should deal with your tragedy now" (paraphrased, obviously) thing was perfectly balanced with the general comedic tone of the speech.
I walked by my iPad and glanced while you were talking about the Dolly Parton runway and all the girls were sitting there in their dolly looks and for a split second I thought they looked like the founding fathers. I love Shea but that wig was awful and definitely not Dolly, way more Thomas Jefferson vibes.
I want a written apology from production because the fact this cast didn't do a Hairspray Rusical is criminal.

the part about jaidas sewing challenge looked bugged me lmao, its a difficult fabric that can easily swallow u yet she made a amazing look. trinity also made a amazing look but had a more basic fabric and made a ruched tube dress with a tiered tulle bottom which honestly isnt that hard. both were amazing but discrediting jaidas look wasn't needed when comparing the two imo...

Tbh I think a lot of people think Monet won this season - she definitely deserved a top 4 spot and when it comes down to it, no matter how people changed their subjective challenge wins usually the final lip sync would have been Jinx vs Monet. So by slaying the lip sync, with the format of the show, as sad as I would have been for Jinx because I adore her, I would not be mad, because even from the edited lip sync I could see Monet was doing MILES better. The lip sync was not even close. But also Sasha's lip sync was the best lip sync for the crown of all time, it was a moment and in a league of its own, so I don't think her win needs to be justified - and she also did very well on her season.
idk who these people are but lipsync should never be the finale determining factor. sasha did a great job apart from the lipsync too, she was never in the bottom at all. the lipsync just warps everyone's perceptions of everyone's talents
Sorry boo but Monte is not the queen of all queens. Jinx is by far much more of a master of her craft.
What I think would be interesting if they continue this format is either an addition or replacement of the plunger (might make the blocking scenes too long) would be to bring in some advantages like on survivor. The queen who wins the lipsync pulls an advantage from the pink furry box. Things like earn an extra star, being able to block another queen from the top can be during critiques so queens can actually know who are the tops of the challenge, stealing stars etc. adds a little more drama and you can even make joint advantages to kind of force alliances. It just overall adds a little more stakes to the whole blocking thing

I think really the big issue here is the lip sync for the win/crown format. It's great when all the competitors are fantastic lip syncers but some of the strongest queens the show has ever seen aren't really. A great example I think is Jimbo on UK vs the world. Yeah people were upset about her elimination and I was too but was Jimbo ever going to win the season? Jimbo was one of the strongest competitors on that season but she was never truly a front runner because she can't lip sync or dance well.
As much as people claim the season was "rigged for Jinkx" all the way through there isn't really a challenge Jinkx won that she didn't slay. Even if you swap some of the wins around Jinkx would still end up with the strongest run on the season. So it would be unfair for her not to be in the finale and unfair for her not to have a shot at winning.
I actually think production should just return to an individual performances format and then just have Ru pick a winner.

I'm literally so over this vilification of Trinity. The SheDevilByNight stuff was never proven to be true and no credible evidence actually exists that it was her, it's all circumstantial. If any of you actually listened to her podcast you'd know she advocates for trans and black rights, she literally set up a pageant to highlight everyone, including these people, as well as having guests on the podcast from these minorities.
I kinda disagree thank Jinks didnt bring a personal story to the Grad speeches. I have also been hit by a car and it’s pretty violating and you feel a lot of different emotions about it and theyre not always touching in sappy way. She had me cry laughing in a club at the viewing party, totally well deserved.
Yes, and I found her point that the body remembers trauma to be really affecting. Just because she embellished her story to make it funny doesn't mean it wasn't personal.

It totally makes sense that Yvie and Viv won the girl group challenge because it's consistent with how they judged the girl group challenges lately: the winners come from the group who did the best and since both Trinity and Raja were pretty meh, while Jinkx and Jaida were ok to me, the Together Forever was the winner team and the top 2 came from that team. The idea was clear (they were rejected from other girl groups) and it was well executed, while the other team's idea was said and never explained or shown anymore and to me this plays a part in that top 2 as well.

Trinity was amazing this season, the most versatile, strong in every single episode and a great person as well. Leaving the controversies aside ;) she was the only real threat to Jinx. However, the Viv should've been top2 in the roast, totally agree on that. The number of laughs per second is not the best way to measure it though, as Jinx was changing rhythm and using pauses for dramatic / comedic purposes.
And ofc 3-stars-twist was horrible and the finale was even worse. What a bummer, to end the season with the worst episode, where nothing works, nothing computes. Great summary, agree with all you've said.
Something you've said is interesting. You said during the roast rehearsal Raja had that great joke about rolling a fatty. But we didn't get to actually hear it during the roast. I think this is a good thing. Hearing the exact same joke twenty minutes later would have been stupid. In AS9, they showed Nina's joke about Shannel twice. "The Drag Race fans know her as: Who?" It was very funny the first time we heard it. So producers didn't do her any favors by showing it twice. They should have saved it for the roast. So I disagree with you about having the same jokes be shown twice in one episode.
Why we're acting brand new? Literally, every single season is rigged. And the righory in each season, one way or another, has favoured the eventual winner.
Highlighting a queen over others maybe more deserving, and ignoring most of their cast, is the oldest trick in WoW's production team.
Drag Race is not a fair drag competition, it's never been, it's about who can deliver entertainment, who RuPaul likes the most.

The fact they're so bitter about the season being "rigged for Jinkx" is so annoying for me because they wouldn't call it out when it favours them, during their season or this one.

So other than the finale the main riggory was the stupid tik tok thing (which according to people was supposed to be moulin ru the rusical which you know would’ve been great to see jinx in since she is a theater queen but production thought the girls wouldn’t get the choreography so they switched it) also with the tik tok thing it was a branding dance challenge so 2 parts jinx took approach with the branding aspect while Monet took the dance approach (also you didn’t mention the fact ru basically gave monet her dance while she didn’t do that for anyone else like they wanted monet to win this week) also kind of a crime you didn’t mention the spoken word lipsync which I really liked but as always props to all the queens and I wish the finale could’ve delivered

I would say yes, Shea deserved to win her original season. But on the other hand, the only way I could find it KIND OF acceptable for someone to win just based on the lip sync is if they did something really gaggy and unique like Sasha did so I understand both sides in this argument. When it comes to this season, even finding out what monet did and production cut it out I don't believe it was soooo gag-worthy and exceptional to the point of giving her the crown when Jinkx had more wins and dominated the season.
