Violet put it best when she was on Trixie and Katya's podcast: "They give us shitty scripts and shitty concepts and expect us to turn them into masterpieces, and most of the time, we do.”
The fact that they didn’t even read Tina Burner’s Ronald McDonald bootleg impression one time ever and tell her that red orange and yellow were literally the ugliest and most cringeworthy colors to decide to ONLY ever wear on the runway (and not even JUST on the runway- her confessional look was just a friendly reminder of the color catastrophe happening right before everyone’s eyes) is proof that they are VERY selective with fairness in giving out critiques - and by that I mean to say that they are not fair at all!!!!!!!!!! lol 💕🤷🏻♀️
The only way to heal the riggory of Season 7 would be for Jaidynn Diore Fierce to win every challenge on the next All Stars while Michelle Visage has to wear Halloween costumes.
@@DragDetective Rupaul: Condragulations, Jaidynn, you're the winner of Charli XCX Vs the World, what do you have to say? Jaidynn: *Look at Michelle* I'm sorry Michelle. But your look is a little too costumey for me.
Violet’s makeover was actually pretty cool considering that a lot of conjoined twins were actually circus performers bc it was a community that accepted them for who they are
Also the divine skit was a mess all around like saying fame was the clear better one is reaching, it came down to their runways and violet’s was THE UGLIEST DRESS EVER
Violets makeover was pretty but Fames concept and execution was better. Violet should have been in the bottom for the divine inspiration episode no matter runway or not.
Disabled people or anyone born with physical differences have a lot of interesting histories because we have never been accepted, by an society throughout history. Ableism is as old as the Spartans throwing disabled and "deformed" babies off of cliffs to maintain the strength of their warrior race. And ableism has continued into modern day fascism with the Nazis putting the disabled in concentration camps. The US Eugenics movement had us sterilized and put into institutions. We have histories that need to be remembered so that they stop being repeated.
A season can be messy production-wise, and still be a good season. The fact that Violet points out herself how there's been so many group and performance challenges, as opposed to challenges that force the queens to work for themselves, tells me that the cast and challenges were indeed a mismatch. It doesn't mean the season was TERRIBLE, it just leaves the audience wondering how certain cast members would have faired with a better balance.
That episode where Violet says "I am so tired of these acting challenges and having to work with people who aren't myself." it was just such a MOOD. When the Hello Kitty challenge appeared I was just, FINALLY! Not a group challenge!
I just have to say… this season was on right as I was getting sober the first time, and watching Katya and Miss Fame being so candid about their sobriety really helped me a lot. It was the first time I’d seen sober people living their lives and doing something they loved, and not just like… the TV show Intervention or something.
Congrats on your sobriety! I don’t know if you watched All-Stars 8, but Mrs. Kasha Davis talks about her sobriety as well 💜 it’s really heartwarming to hear the queens talking about their journeys.
I agree, addiction is very real across all walks of life and seeing these successful people breakdown and talk about how hard it was getting sober made me feel like less of a failure when I was struggling
Not related to riggory, the scene where Max like counsels Jaiden through her apprehension with acting and brings out the best performance is reality gold
She also has a great back story, and is a costume design professor, I would have loved to have seen her looks. I really hope she is brought back for another season.
The fact that this season was loaded with comedy challenge after comedy challenge, group challenge after group challenge, and Violet STILL managed to pull out the win is still insanely impressive to me. Like you can't deny that this season was sorta tailored for Ginger to win. Combined with the fact that Violet had an almost flawless runway collection, this season wasn't "rigged" in any way.
Violet definitely deserved the win, idk why some people think she doesn’t. She walked so Aquaria could run 😂 beautiful fashion girl that is multi talented
What I never understood about season 7 was some of the girls that were considered “new school” were very seasoned and the some of the old school girls just had their pageant drag inherited in them which makes them seem classic. Season 7 was very ageist
I totally agree with the show being ageist but new & old school isn't referring to how long someone has done drag (although it often goes hand in hand) but more to the kind of aesthetic - old school being more pageant influenced and new school being more "fashion forward"
@@peanutbutter9619 for this season is was. The girls that have been doing drag for 10+ years all grouped together and shamed the young girls and now some of those girls came back for like allstars and had to adapt to the new way, I.e ginger minj
You know, when you described Violet's flaws, it made me realize how similar she is in a lot of ways to Alyssa Edwards. But like, it's weird how different their reception is.
it is isn’t it? it’s so sad how the fandom has turned on violet despite her giving the fans exactly what they crave in the show, mainly looks and shade.
I feel like there is something very endearing about Alyssa, while Violet comes off a bit cold. When Alyssa reads, it truly seems like a fun honor. When Violet reads... she has a shade of mean girl. However, I fucking love Violet for being exactly who she is.
@@trippy9320 We dont Know. I heard something about her family and drug use. Maybe she was an addict. But so are Katya and Fame so i dont know why it is so special.
@@jsdfsad7143 I think you already know, but if you DON'T. Pearl talked about her past on her youtube a long time ago. She did not share her earliest childhood experiences, which seem to be to hard for her to talk about.
Season 7 actually had one of the mose diverse casts the show had ever seen in terms of their drag styles but it was completely let down by the production and edit of the show. Poorly designed challenges for the most part and an edit that had no idea what to do with half the cast, such big potential honestly. This is one of my favorite casts on any show just based on "what could have been".
its never mentioned but i think violet and kennedy's discussion in the last untucked of the season is so important...the fact that violet focuses on uplifting kennedy after what she said on the runway was a real winner moment to me
Also I feel like Violet won because she was the one to have gag-worthy moments: her death-becomes-her runway, the episode 1 reveal, the hello kitty, the dance... And please Violet can split but never felt like she needed to.
@@normalizenatalie well...i dont think jinkx qualifies as a sole comedy queen, she is a theatric and comedy. but....in what world is sharon needles a comedy queen?
@@normalizenatalie Also...i think they crowned violet like he said, because she was the only option left. Watching season 7 with my boyfriend now. It's his first time seeing the season, and he has NO idea who is going to win. He truly thought Max was going to be in the top 3, and he was heartbroken when she sashayed away. After Max's departure, he called the top three spot on, but I never confirmed or denied it. We're watching the finale tonight, and I am excited to hear his thoughts. I love this season soooooo much, and I think your analysis is so wonderfully timed. Thanks for always producing high quality content.
My boyfriend and me watched Season 6. It was actually our first time, yet I knew how it played out. He never liked DeLa (who I adore) and he said he would like Bianca to win. When DeLa was eliminated, he was like: “Bianca’s winning.” I never confirmed or denied it like you and he was pretty happy with the outcome. 😂
I think the funny part is Katya could have won. When Trixie and Katya talk about season 7 on their show Trixie mentions how Katya was making her outfit and someone said that she knows how to design and sew so why doesn't she start over to make something better and Katya's response was "I don't wanna." She literally was too lazy to try and make a better hello kitty outfit and honestly...it's hilarious because there are a lot of us who probably would have done the same thing. She was the most relatable queen that whole season.
Trixie being sent home in episode 4 never made sense to me until I saw the video of her Snatch Game choice (Anne Frank) and now I'm fully convinced they sent her home the second they could to keep her from doing that and then brought her back just after Snatch Game with the twin's makeover challenge because they knew they wouldn't need to worry about that landmine... yes it's a baseless conspiracy theory but I'm standing by it
Good... but Trixie said in and interview that she chose Anne Frank for snatch game, but the producers told her to choose something else, because no WAY would she be allowed to do it.
She did a video showing it off around the time of her original elimination, you can look it up but it's one of those ideas that's so wrong but so shockingly hilarious that it would've been impossible to not love in the moment but also offend so many people@@joonlovescrabs
I don’t know if you have talked about it or not, but the rise of Trixie always fascinates me. How did she crawl her way out of this season to one of the top Ru Girls? Not sure if you would make a video like that but honestly have been fascinated it. Especially after watching her in this season!
At the time, the fans started a whole #justicefortrixie thing on Twitter because so many people felt she should not have been eliminated. To the point where rupaul even commented on it saying that people were literally begging her to flip her decision and how these people didn’t know that this stuff was filmed a year earlier. A lot of Trixie fans also felt like she was unfairly put in the bottom with Ginger. So after the season, people were begging WoW for months to have Katya and Trixie on a show of some kind and they guest hosted an episode of Fashion Photo Review where they reviews the looks of Raja and Raven. I don’t even think they were that close at the time but they had good chemistry and the show got a ton of views. They then got their own WoW show. I think what helped Trixie was that she was very open about losing drag race twice, which is funny because it was true and there had only been one All Stars at the time so not many people could say that. She seemed to be one of the first queens who coped with losing in a way that was actually funny and very public
@@DanEMO592 oh wow! This is so much info I didn’t know about. I figured once they got Uhhhnnn that it helped her popularity. But didn’t know it came from a spot on Fashion Photo Review. Thank for for the history!
i love that the “villain” won this season. it’s sososo different. usually the antagonist is a runner up or third place but here, she WON. which makes me so happy.
Ginger wasn’t much older than Trixie and the participants in that age range. She came off older being more of a pageant type queen style and camp/comedy queen which made her seem older, she’s the same age as me, 5 years older than Trixie
I think Ginger has also said that when she had went on Drag Race, she had been doing drag for 10 years at that point so she felt like an older queen and the older queens were the ones who taught her so much and she came up with them so of course it makes sense why she would identify with them more.
The way this season’s untucked is the best and basically it’s own show (not just a little after show for the main one) and i watch it religously says a lot. Also, this season not having a clear front runner is tbh the smartest thing production has done because people will always talk about it. Love it sm especially no one could deny anyone’s talents so they go for personality LOL
Max remains one of my fave queens to ever appear on the show. I would love to see her return in an All Stars, I feel she would kill it if she is in the right mind set considering how she got two wins in the short time she was there.
i think even sasha belle got a mini storyline. i forget exactly what she said but basically she had studied the show and thought she had figured out a plan exactly how to win. then she realizes its harder than it seems on tv with the “i misunderstood the assignment” and trouble with her wig(s) moments. you could argue every queen has the experience of thinking they can win and then not winning but with sasha its presented as a reality check for people at home thinking “i could do that”
trixie telling jazmin ''I went to your mum's birthday party'' whilst dressed like Judy Jetson has to be one of my top Dragrace untucked moment's ! Jazmin's face is just perfect !
I think Pearl is suchhh an interesting case bc like... let me be clear I adore Pearl, she was always one of my faves, but I do agree that it felt weird that she got to the finale. She always felt a little out of place, which Did make her very interesting for the audience, but I think also speaks to all the chaos happening behind the scenes. Rupaul was trying his damndest to get a certain character and story out of Pearl that she wasnt ready to give him, and it resulted in this incredibly strange invisible conflict between Pearl and the show itself
for what's called the worst season, the fact that it's also the origin of arguably the most popular ru girls to this day being trixie and katya is kinda funny.
I have said it before and i will say it again…Untucked killed Gingers chance of winning, especially that last episode. If you watched the regular episodes with no untucked yeah she could be bitchy and mean but so was 95% of the cast. It was when she got to untucked and really started saying shit and stirring the pot did the fan base turn on her.
Season 7 is so near and dear to my heart, I remember watching it in real time back when I was in high school and talking about it with my one gay friend who also watched the show. This season has so many iconic queens, and I genuinely love them all (yes, even Sasha Belle!) The conjoined twins makeover, the double win snatch game (Pearl was robbed of a top placement) John Waters episode, so many great moments. I truly don’t understand the season 7 hate. Even tho it was rigged as hell, it gave us so many amazing moments and so many talented queens that it should be appreciated in my opinion.
I really wasn't aware of how much story there actually was to season 7 and it is making me see it in a whole new light. It really had some of the most interesting characters and character dynamics we've ever had on Drag Race. Such an insightful video!
to me, violet always made sense as a winner. her fashion is just so on point and she showed a lot of growth in the acting, dancing and singing performances that it felt like she had earned it. like you said, she also started to soften out and begin to actually form bonds with the other queens which makes her more likeable as well. on the other hand, ginger and kennedy, like you said, were just too bitter and never managed to develop, in a sense. esp kennedy, always seemed very unable to see the flaws in herself, but honestly that might be the edit, because she also seems to be a gentle and kindhearted person at other points.
You FORGET that Violet was the ONLY Queen on that cast who was a bedroom queen looking at fashion magazines not working shows or having her name out there everywhere... that really added to her obvious winning (her storyline shown on TV)
That's actually verry much not true. Violet was semi established in Atlanta before, even had the whole needles crown moment and all. +she performed and already did her aerial acrobatics so in conclusion. No
@@blazingbard5103 I'm no historical expert just recapping what was said on the show during the season it aired. So actually very much Yes. She was called a bedroom queen on the show itself but okay.
@@blazingbard5103 We were talking about the rigging and Ru Paul asked them all about that themselves however it's a similar moment to how Ru Paul called Willow Pill their tribe which not a single Queen but Willow has the honor of that, so I knew in that moment Willow was going to Win.
Season 7 was the first season I watched beginning to end, so it will always have a special place in my heart. So many of the most iconic queens came from this season, yet it gets a bad rep. You did a fantastic job on this video! Love the way you grouped the "characters" at the beginning. Very insightful
18:50 - I wish I could remember where I read it but I once read that RuPaul stated he only kept Pearl throughout the season because she was a very attractive person out of drag. I don't know how much validity there is in that however.
The timing of this video is crazy because i started watching drag race a year ago and i started with season 7 and now im rewatching it as an anniversary type deal. Kinda unrelated to the video but i see the season through a whole different lens since ive seen the whole series and all stars now. Like when i first watched, ginger was my favorite but now i realize they kinda made her seem like a jerk. And i didnt like pearl very much, but upon rewatching i really loved her because “do i have something on my face?” is TOOOO iconic, like she has to be one of my favs forever just for that. I didnt realize the impact of that moment the first time i watched. Ultimately i do love the season, the queens were iconic, i love miss fame, and violet and katya’s prancing queens dance was truly beautiful to me because they killed it in the outfit department, they looked beautiful together and if i was 13 i would have shipped them because of that dance

The season with one of the best Untucked in the whole show. Where the level of fun and comedy is extremely high and drama is more petty and classic, than dirty and uncomfortable to watch. Season 7 clearly had some of the weirdest challenges and not necessarily good writing or production. But the cast is one of the strongest group of good personalities we ever had.
I get Glamazonian Airways stuck in my head almost daily and I'm not really mad about it. If I dare to go to an airport, it's game over. PUT UP YOUR TRAY TABLESSS
I also think s7 has one of the best Untucked. At least of the ones that aren't in the interior illusions lounge. It's the one Untucked I'll go back and rewatch.
Has Pearl ever opened up about her past traumas? I know she has talked about having them. It’s nobody’s business if she hasn’t decided to share I’m just curious.
I respect how Trixie was one of the so called less polished queens that were always just in the background while she was on the show, and then ended up being the most successful queen to come out of season 7 by far, along with Katya.
They really hated pearl for breathing lol. She said "hello" and everyone just called her bored, not wanting to be there etc. Also idk if it's cuz I dont have my glasses, but Pearl in her little circle looks a lot like Orion to me idk. Anyways loved the video, liked the season (I've only seen untucked cuz I like free things)
On why Trixie suddenly is a friend with Ginger. Trixie has said that she won a phone call home for a mini challenge and she gave it to Ginger because of how much Ginger missed her husband. This probably happened in the John Waters episode with the reading challenge. Why was it cut? Probably because they had no reason to make Trixie look sympathetic since production did not care for her anyway nor did they care to give Ginger workroom air time as something other than a bitter queen.
i’d say season 7 is one of the very best season idk how some people dislike it!!! it has so many ICONIC runways, cringy moments and drama i eat it up everytime
Ginger at the top 4 episode saying that Pearl shouldn't be in the top 3 bc she walked away from the opportunity of a life time,,,, girl when Ginger was paired with Sasha she gave up the minute she had to sew, like she didn't even try. How's that different from Pearl?
There‘s a lot to talk about this season but honestly I‘m so happy you highlighted Miss Fame‘s makeover - it was actually polished yet campy, Kandy looked like Fame and they both gave a great performance on the runway with it. It‘s weird how Fame survived so long yet when she deserved praise she still didn‘t get it.
Good video. One interesting theory wrt crowning that you didn't discuss is that the entire season, from the casting to the judging to the order of the challenges, paved the way for a "new school" queen to win. rpdr had crowned comedy queens twice in a row. the rise of social media drag gave drag race a golden opportunity to capture a younger audience, and they took it
i know im late on commenting here, but people forget that katya was a part of “bitter old lady brigade”, but, unlike the queens apart of this group, everytime katya “comes” for one of the young queens, the edit goes out of its way to justify what she’s saying
Season 7 was full of talent but that talent couldn't handle the poor judgement in thinking that Shakespeare could be translated into funny. Shakesqueer bombed miserably and no one, regardless of talent, could have ever made it anything better than the toilet turd that it was.
Allegedly, Katya’s snatch game was really good but they had to edit a whole lot of it out because it was too crass for TV? Pearl’s was definitely better from what we were shown though
4:50 Ah, yes I loved the best group of the season Sasha Belles... The girls who cracked the code. Talking about cracking the code - I feel like it's interesting that probably most of those girls had exploded with their careers and success after the show. Compared to some of people who would get big due to the show/on the show. Like almost all of those artists got recognition way after this season aired. Either it be due to their work, Internet phenomenon, importance in Drag community or other competition/season of Drag Race. 6:40 I still don't get how this isn't considered a Ball Challenge. Like at its core its literally just that. Two looks from home and one extra made from scratch. I guess because they did not show them making the last look and it was new concept when it comes to presentation of it all? 9:50 It is also important to mention - both are hardcore musical/theatre kids, which means they should have a good knowledge of how the show should look like and have some idea of how organise the group. Which I mean - it is probably one of the strongest themed lipsync challenges. 11:20 Wait Jasmine went home on third episode? I felt like she lasted at least to episode 4 or 5... Lol. I guess Makeover throws my perception out of the way.
Loved the video as always!! I don't remember much rigging in s8 besides the purposeful take down of Acid Betty but if you find anything definitely would love that vid too ❤️
If you look at the challenges not only most of them were comedy based, but most of them were at least in pairs or groups. Even if they judged some group challenges individually, they still had to do a group challenge. Ep1: Runway challenge (individual) Ep2: Group Lipsync Challenge Ep3: Group acting challenge Ep4: Group parody challenge Ep5: Pair comedy/roast challenge Ep6: Group acting challenge Ep7: Snatch Game - which is borderline solo challenge but can be seen as a group challenge as you can play with another contestant to get your jokes across Ep8: Makeover challenge - again borderline pair challenge as you work with a previously eliminated queen together to make your looks but this is more solo than before Ep9: Group comedy, singing/acting challenge Ep10: Pair dancing challenge Ep11: Ball - probably the first solo entirely solo challenge after the first episode Ep12: Music Video - Complex challenge as you have solo moments but also work with the other queens Ep13: Solo Finale Performances and interviews So all in all majority of the challenges weren't tailored to showcase the individual talents of each queens as they had to work together with someone most of the time.
I adore S7. It was my first season of DR period and I got to watch it in real time, so I'm sure that has contributes to the depths of my love. Plus yes, I'm definitely one of those crazy for Katya fans. She's my favorite queen of all time because of her spirit and person. Plus again, we got Katya and Trixie and their show, which has a therapeutic value to countless humans (myself included) and that cannot be understated. Violet gagged me and had me from tartan 🙌 I tend to naturally veer towards the more obviously nicer (there are much better words I want that I can't think of atm) types but Violet struck me more as confident than shitty. Tbh I never bought the narrative being sold about her and when her redemption story started I was just like "yeah, duh". I DEFINITELY was rooting for Ginger in the beginning but that did change, I think a little bit prior to the makeover episode. The old lady bitter brigrade wore on me fast. Bitter being the key word there. It's just not a good look. Maybe if I rewatched now as an old lady (jk but old enough) I'd feel differently but I do feel this is one of those things I remember pretty well. Kennedy's final look was to fucking diiiiieeee for but again, the OLBB storyline did her in for me early on. Anyway, I always liked Violet, thought she was incredible, and was completely satisfied with her win. She earned that shit. I thought Pearl got too much shit. Fame too for that matter. I can't stand it when these shows go in on people not having super loud personalities. They did the same thing on ANTM and it's annoying. I get it's TV though. But it's still annoying to watch as someone who doesn't gaf about the dramatics (and that is ultimately what got me to quit DR..along with the riggory I can't lie) and just strictly enjoys getting to watch drag queens do drag. I liked Pearl fine, and I LOVED her do I have something on my face line to Ru. It's very understandable why most of them essentially kissed Ru's ass (again, same with Tyra on ANTM) but I love it when they dare to be spicy or don't play along..well as far as I know that was a legitimate moment. ANYWAY I do love this season. I can somewhat understand the complaints---I DEFINITELY thought there were too many comedy challenges, even as a newbie, and I have the benefit of watching 4-6 AFTER I watched S7. I can appreciate the difference and how it must've felt for those that had already been watching. But S7 is special to me, it's my favorite, and tbh, I consider the most gloriousness of Drag Race glory to be S5-S7 (+AS2). Don't come for me, s4 is fabulous okay 💃
I couldn't stand Kennedy Davenport in S7. She was patronising, arrogant, judgemental, prejudiced and toxic. From track record, in my mind, I couldn't understand how she got to the finale. I felt she had only 1 deserving win, which was in Snatch Game, tied with Ginger Minj (and Drag Detective agrees). Jaidynn Diore Fierce was completely robbed of her win in favour of Kennedy when she was a much more likeable character, and then it was like production somehow turned against her. I'd have much rather seen Jaidynn or Max in the top 4 of the season than Kennedy. With this pushed favouritism of Kennedy, she then becomes one of the top queens of the season, therefore giving her more gravitas in All Stars when she could've been out earlier. Even then in All Stars she was unimpressive and somehow ended up in the final.
Hot take: Trixie's snatch game would've been at least safe if she made it there. I think the reasons she flopped in AS3 were because everyone told her on the internet her Ru Paul one-liners were funny, and I blame y'all (jk). But more seriously, I think she was propped up by people screaming robbed and so she probably had a lot more pressure on her than she would have her first go around. I think she would've felt more in her element and she could've done Dolly (who was her first choice) or someone else and I think she would've done better than Violet and company to land at least safe. I also could see her potentially winning the DESPY awards if she had a good partner as well. But, maybe I'm just a biased Trixie stan with no knowledge of Drag. Just wanted to share some crack theories for shits and gigs.
Season 7 is absolutely one of my favorite seasons period. It was one of the first seasons I watched while it was happening (I *was actuality rooting for Violet from the moment she walked in, and I kinda related to her ngl). I was 15, and I loved the drama of it all. Maybe I’m biased due to nostalgia, but I don’t think so. I watched it again recently and had so much fun ❤

Idk for me I feel like this season caused like. A shift in what the show prioritizes in the queens Cuz of the old v. New story & who came out on top. Plus It left a sour taste how all the qoc's were either mainly shown in a negative light (Kennedy & Jasmine), sidelined in the season's story (Jaidynn), or straight up ignored (Kandy). I feel like this season lowkey bolstored some of the more nasty behaviors in this fandom so I can't really go back and watch it with a lot of fondness. But idk that's just my two cents on it

And ableism has continued into modern day fascism with the Nazis putting the disabled in concentration camps. The US Eugenics movement had us sterilized and put into institutions.
We have histories that need to be remembered so that they stop being repeated.
Miss Fame’s chicken storyline is very endearing 🐓
💖🐓🐔🐤💖
Best storyline ever.
💗💗💗💗
Congrats on your sobriety!
I don’t know if you watched All-Stars 8, but Mrs. Kasha Davis talks about her sobriety as well 💜 it’s really heartwarming to hear the queens talking about their journeys.
I agree, addiction is very real across all walks of life and seeing these successful people breakdown and talk about how hard it was getting sober made me feel like less of a failure when I was struggling
Not related to riggory, the scene where Max like counsels Jaiden through her apprehension with acting and brings out the best performance is reality gold
I was gutted when Tempest was eliminated first. Her birthing that baby on the floor during her entrance cracked me up like no other queen before.
The way my heart sank when she was sent home😭
She also has a great back story, and is a costume design professor, I would have loved to have seen her looks. I really hope she is brought back for another season.
I literally loved her from the start man
I did want her so send Kandy home as karma, but it wasn't going to happen.
Definetly, I thought the bottom should have been Sasha and jasmine, idk how tempest got there compared to their performances
I'm sorry, but the image of every group circled and then just "Sasha Belle" sent me 💀😭
The fact that this season was loaded with comedy challenge after comedy challenge, group challenge after group challenge, and Violet STILL managed to pull out the win is still insanely impressive to me.

Probably because Violet actually is very attractive, so people feel more threatened
@@aug1014 unwarranted alyssa scalping omg
I feel like there is something very endearing about Alyssa, while Violet comes off a bit cold. When Alyssa reads, it truly seems like a fun honor. When Violet reads... she has a shade of mean girl.
However, I fucking love Violet for being exactly who she is.
The reason that Pearl is so favoured is because she had a ''dark'' secret. Pearl however never shared it and that pissed Rupaul off.
what was the secret?
@@trippy9320 We dont Know. I heard something about her family and drug use. Maybe she was an addict. But so are Katya and Fame so i dont know why it is so special.
@@jsdfsad7143 I think you already know, but if you DON'T. Pearl talked about her past on her youtube a long time ago. She did not share her earliest childhood experiences, which seem to be to hard for her to talk about.

Pearl should’ve won
I’m still bothered by Kasha not winning Glamazonian Airways or the conjoined queens challenge
Wouldn’t change anything since saying welcyum canceled her.
She definitely should’ve won episode 2
Yeah, and that was her only major flop in that episode. But, she was outshined by Katya but she shouldn't have been in the bottom 2 for that.
Pearl & Trixie hands DOWN deserved to win the conjoined twin episode as their look was the most polished and even had a bit of a story to it.
"I know talent when I smell it, and SHE smells like she pissed herself."
Also terrible promo.
its never mentioned but i think violet and kennedy's discussion in the last untucked of the season is so important...the fact that violet focuses on uplifting kennedy after what she said on the runway was a real winner moment to me
Also I feel like Violet won because she was the one to have gag-worthy moments: her death-becomes-her runway, the episode 1 reveal, the hello kitty, the dance...
And please Violet can split but never felt like she needed to.
i think also bc they had crowned 3 comedy queens in a row at that point
@@normalizenatalie well...i dont think jinkx qualifies as a sole comedy queen, she is a theatric and comedy. but....in what world is sharon needles a comedy queen?
@@normalizenatalie Also...i think they crowned violet like he said, because she was the only option left. Ginger had no chances of winning, and pearl was....well pearl and violet dominated late game sooooo hard that the chicken shit challenges that ginger won didnt matter that much, except the big ones like john waters.
Violet also adapted well to the challengers that were not her strong suit she doesn't complain about it much either.

Violet Chacki is iconic. No one other than her was winning imo.
This is the season I started really watching Drag Race, so this season has a tiny special spot in my heart.
agreed, one of my favorites

It was my first season too! ^^
It’s my first season too!
Same!
Trixie being sent home in episode 4 never made sense to me until I saw the video of her Snatch Game choice (Anne Frank) and now I'm fully convinced they sent her home the second they could to keep her from doing that and then brought her back just after Snatch Game with the twin's makeover challenge because they knew they wouldn't need to worry about that landmine... yes it's a baseless conspiracy theory but I'm standing by it
I can see why you would think that, but why bring her on the show in the first place? Seems very convoluted.
@@psychic5719 I didn't say my theory was perfect lol
Good... but Trixie said in and interview that she chose Anne Frank for snatch game, but the producers told her to choose something else, because no WAY would she be allowed to do it.
WHAT?!?!?!! WHERE DID U LEARN THAT HOLY SHIT WTF
I guess drag race is a skill in its self, it doesn't always highlight the true talent of the queens.
Btw I’m pretty sure Kandy has or had a record for least amount of screen time and confessionals in comparison to her amount of episodes.

I watch the untucked to season 7 more often than the actual season because I LOVE the queens but some of the challenges were just so random

Max remains one of my fave queens to ever appear on the show. I would love to see her return in an All Stars, I feel she would kill it if she is in the right mind set considering how she got two wins in the short time she was there.
i think even sasha belle got a mini storyline. i forget exactly what she said but basically she had studied the show and thought she had figured out a plan exactly how to win. then she realizes its harder than it seems on tv with the “i misunderstood the assignment” and trouble with her wig(s) moments. you could argue every queen has the experience of thinking they can win and then not winning but with sasha its presented as a reality check for people at home thinking “i could do that”
she cracked the code 😂😂😂 always cracks me up that line

I think Pearl is suchhh an interesting case bc like... let me be clear I adore Pearl, she was always one of my faves, but I do agree that it felt weird that she got to the finale. She always felt a little out of place, which Did make her very interesting for the audience, but I think also speaks to all the chaos happening behind the scenes. Rupaul was trying his damndest to get a certain character and story out of Pearl that she wasnt ready to give him, and it resulted in this incredibly strange invisible conflict between Pearl and the show itself
The way ive been waiting for this video… season 7 is so fun i love how much everyone hates each other, tv gold

Controversial Opinion: Kennedy should have won Snatch Game solo. This is my hill, this is where I make my stand. "WOOOOOOO! Shut up!"
Agreed
for what's called the worst season, the fact that it's also the origin of arguably the most popular ru girls to this day being trixie and katya is kinda funny.
4:58 Sasha Belle being her own category is sending me
I have said it before and i will say it again…Untucked killed Gingers chance of winning, especially that last episode. If you watched the regular episodes with no untucked yeah she could be bitchy and mean but so was 95% of the cast. It was when she got to untucked and really started saying shit and stirring the pot did the fan base turn on her.
mhmmmm but considering the fact that its the only untucked out on youbtube officially and fully.....does mean that almost everyone saw it.
Violet her fashion runway moment alone carried the season. It changed the game.
The Old School/ New School/ Sasha Belle graphic is killing me 💀
i really love this season, i dont get how people say it’s bad
Such an insightful video!
to me, violet always made sense as a winner. her fashion is just so on point and she showed a lot of growth in the acting, dancing and singing performances that it felt like she had earned it. like you said, she also started to soften out and begin to actually form bonds with the other queens which makes her more likeable as well. on the other hand, ginger and kennedy, like you said, were just too bitter and never managed to develop, in a sense. esp kennedy, always seemed very unable to see the flaws in herself, but honestly that might be the edit, because she also seems to be a gentle and kindhearted person at other points.
aaah this series has been my background noise for a while now, I'm so happyy. I love how well thought out your videos are!
I personally think Violet did miles better than Fame in the divine skit, plus her runway was better

Season 7 was the first season I watched beginning to end, so it will always have a special place in my heart. So many of the most iconic queens came from this season, yet it gets a bad rep.
You did a fantastic job on this video! Love the way you grouped the "characters" at the beginning. Very insightful
We need Max to return to AllStars. Justice for her.
18:50 - I wish I could remember where I read it but I once read that RuPaul stated he only kept Pearl throughout the season because she was a very attractive person out of drag. I don't know how much validity there is in that however.
You’re right - it was in the podcast with Michelle where Ru also talks about how she can like, emotionally destroy someone. It’s very weird lol
I feel like until this very day Kasha is very underrated
Very good analysis! Obviously the most rigged moment is MAX being mistreated with the edit and critiques, and sent home so soon!

It's the one Untucked I'll go back and rewatch.
Has Pearl ever opened up about her past traumas? I know she has talked about having them. It’s nobody’s business if she hasn’t decided to share I’m just curious.
There’s a video on Pearl’s RUclips channel opening up about his past. It’s a very sad story to hear, but it shows how strong Pearl is.
Yeah. There are a few videos on YT. Also, behind the scenes is visible she was off.
Girl wym every queen had a story lmao. Kandy Ho was basically edited out of the show.
Do all of the seasons! Watching you break them down is a blast!
Sasha being all by herself! 😅
Thankx so much for the s7 video , i´ve been waiting to see it for months , i really apreciate it
Season 7 was full of talent but that talent couldn't handle the poor judgement in thinking that Shakespeare could be translated into funny.
Nah, Candy should’ve been in the bottom for just that Easter hat, us lil girls had to wear em every Easter! 😬 No Thank you!!

Kiss for Brazil ❤️
Loved the video as always!! I don't remember much rigging in s8 besides the purposeful take down of Acid Betty but if you find anything definitely would love that vid too ❤️
If you look at the challenges not only most of them were comedy based, but most of them were at least in pairs or groups. Even if they judged some group challenges individually, they still had to do a group challenge.
Ep1: Runway challenge (individual)
Ep2: Group Lipsync Challenge
Ep3: Group acting challenge
Ep4: Group parody challenge
Ep5: Pair comedy/roast challenge
Ep6: Group acting challenge
Ep7: Snatch Game - which is borderline solo challenge but can be seen as a group challenge as you can play with another contestant to get your jokes across
Ep8: Makeover challenge - again borderline pair challenge as you work with a previously eliminated queen together to make your looks but this is more solo than before
Ep9: Group comedy, singing/acting challenge
Ep10: Pair dancing challenge
Ep11: Ball - probably the first solo entirely solo challenge after the first episode
Ep12: Music Video - Complex challenge as you have solo moments but also work with the other queens
Ep13: Solo Finale Performances and interviews
So all in all majority of the challenges weren't tailored to showcase the individual talents of each queens as they had to work together with someone most of the time.
So excited for the next part!!! Amazing video as always, seeing this posted was the highlight of my week
Max was such a force this season, but was clearly not liked by production, or they just saw no value in her
That graph at 7:23 made me realize I might be too high for this video lmao
I got this as a recommendation from jackfed and nearly screeched at having missed it. Turn it up baby my favorite drag race analysis series is back
Hot take: Trixie's snatch game would've been at least safe if she made it there.
Also I remember when Violet said “I think the top 3 should have been me, Ginger, and Katya, but then I wouldn’t have won”
@@queenrayna yep cause fan favourite is hard to beat especially when the other two winners perception aint so good. ahem.......sharon needles. Ahem.....jinkx.
not that jinkx didnt deserve to win, she is a legend and she is amazing but roxxy and alaska were never going to win over her esp after rolaskatox.
i wonder if this why season 8 naysha immediately gets the throwaway treatment… production said pageant queens is out of style 43:01
one thing you didn't mention is that the reason why season 7 is considered to be the worst in the fandom is because of Bianka Del Niro. I mean I remember her trashing this season during EVERY single of her interviews.
every queen does that kind of lol. But thats the thing, every queen thinks their season is the best. And......to be fair, most of the time its false. But season 7 has reedeemed itself so much and beyond, the winner is violet motherfucking chachki. This is a star studded cast that is legends for days.
Good
Season 7 is such an iconic season, even when the queens are doing poorly or fighting it's incredible television. Oh and my favorite winner ever, Ms Chachki!
SAME! MOTHER VIOLET IS AN ICON!
i always wondered where the outfits for episode 10 came from...i was like did they just bring matching outfits from home??? did they know what dance category they were doing?? idk why a sewing challenge cut out never crossed my mind
Production. They know who is coming, they crank out outfits in advance, based on their measurements....
I'll still never forget the moment when, as Tempest was arriving, Kandy Ho asked her deadpan: "How *old* are you?" ☠ Instant fatality!
But idk that's just my two cents on it
the more i look at pearl's promo pic the worse it looks😭
The way Max would won this season if production cares just a little more about her
