Hey Ramsey thanks a lot for this. A lot of times when wrestling I try and get the tie first then think of what to do from there, or even worse get the tie first then try to move the opponent after that. Cutting out that extra second makes everything go so much more smoothly. I also always react to a collar tie by doing exactly the same thing to the other guy is trying to do. Then either we both try doing the same thing till we both break out or switch to trying something else. Do you have any advice for when it is later in a match and everyone is sweating up a storm and none of the arm drags, collar ties etc seem to ever work because everyone is so slippery. Other than the normal single leg, double leg etc.
Hey coach i have a question that has been bothering me, im not a full time boxer or a grappler, i am a basketball player and i am a combat freak as well but i have a question. When you are going to perform a submission on someone. When you take someone in a d’arc choke as an example on the ground (doing this while taking him down on the ground) so you’re on the ground and you have him in the choke. Let’s say he escapes the choke and you’re under him on the ground, he turns the tables around but my question is how can you turn the tables around after he turned the tables around. At the end you are beneath him. When im going to submit someone im always guaranteeing it i never take risks. but how do we need to respond to somebody that escapes your choke and you end up from having the disadvantage while you had the advantage. Thank you for your time i have been implying your footwork immediately and now my footwork is amazing thank you🙏💪💪

Yep. I could show you a few transitions to choke from collar ties. One I used to use a lot was a guillotine variation with a figure four grip (later Joe Rogan started calling it the “ninja choke” when people started using it in the UFC) from double collar ties. But the real secret to making it work is breaking the other guy’s posture. If you have a single collar tie and the other guy reaches for an underhook, you can whizzer and set up a D’arce choke. I like to set up the grovit from a collar tie (it’s a standing neck crank), just to name a few.

Also, coming straight from that "groin kick" video, be thankful Xiao (or is it Shao?) didn't point his toes during some of those singles! Yes, kicks to the hips are perfectly legal- not particularly effective though. The only strikes that are fouls are strikes to the groin, the back of the head, back of the neck, and spine, and the dreaded 12 to 6 elbow for some reason. I don’t understand how you’re seeing the possibility of a groin kick off a single leg. If that fear haunts you, wear a cup.
@@RamseyDewey Interesting. My background is in Matsubayashi-ryu Karate-do and we heavily favor such disabling strikes, though the knee is certainly a better target. I don't follow UFC, Pride, etc. that much so I was curious. The groin thing was just a joke. It wouldn't have much power at all and I figured you wear a cup. Is dirty boxing from Panantukan (Filipino martial arts) or is it just a universal technique the same way as wrestling? Correct me if you will my friends
“Dirty boxing” just means grabbing someone while attempting to strike them. In boxing, holding an opponent while striking is a foul, hence the term “dirty boxing”.
Maverick Cadelina Muhammad Ali would constantly taunt his opponents by lowering his arms and taking their punches and yelling “is that all?” In order to make them feel weak or focus more on hurting Ali than winning. He did this to Larry Holmes and Larry Holmes only went for his head and instead to hurt him while Ali dogged them all and doing dances to make him mad. Another example is when he took a hit from George Foreman ( notorious for his massive punch) and he just shrugged it off while taunting him in his ear. George foreman later said in an interview that during that match he wanted to kill Ali more than win the match.
“Maybe I’ll pull down right here so he doesn’t expect me to push this up right here” that’s some money set up thinking. Do A to get response so you have him helping you to do B.

Love the videos! Really good ideas with collar ties. Also, coming straight from that "groin kick" video, be thankful Xiao (or is it Shao?) didn't point his toes during some of those singles! It doesn't take much and it looks like you weren't adrenalized enough to ignore a toe to that target XD
I trained in BJJ years ago and it was a daily occurrence, so I'm sure you're used to it.
A close collar tie against a guy in low defensive posture is a great time for uki-waza, the last technique of Nage no Kata.
ruclips.net/video/R7rXDB6S-LI/видео.html a very formal but really good demonstration.
What’s your thoughts on 100 pushups and squats 4 days a week
Say didn’t randy couture use those slot to get in with punches and use his awesome wrestling?
Yep. Collar ties are a fundamental grappling movement.
Hey man, has there been a video about *that* Reddit troll a few years back in r/shanghai? just found those posts this morning had a good laugh XD
Oh man, I vaguely remember a Reddit troll, but so can’t remember what his deal was.
@@RamseyDewey You created a Reddit account just to go a few rounds with him! It's the first result if you search for "jx fight club reddit" in Google, although not sure how that works out in China.
That Jordan Flashback😖
Wow, great vid! Love a Russian tie!
5:08 That fight alone produced one year supply of TRT😎😂
What fight was that?
@kallmekatt_318 Don Fry vs. Takiyama
nice music !
A little known fact that most people forget in the bout between Don Frye and Yoshihiro Takayama..... Moustaches were involved in that fight
So true!
Hows your shoulder??? Better?
Not the same as it used to be.
Not going to lie, I am waiting for Anthony Johnson to make a comment about your weight.
But nice vid.
Hahahahaha!!!
The way you wrestle is really gentle and yet it's deadly. How? It's because you was a dancer?
"Get out there and train"
"Keep the martial arts legit"
What's the best martial arts slogan out there?
@Aaron B "Pretty boy. Show me a good time Jack!"
And remember to restomp the groin
@@scottbauer71 UGH
Does he have mild scoliosis ? I see his shoulders are at different height.
Who?
@@RamseyDewey The gentleman helping you out to demonstrate. I might be wrong but as I have the same issue, I immediately noticed it at the start of the video. From 0:00 to 0:04, his right shoulder is much higher than his left.
Is dirty boxing from Panantukan (Filipino martial arts) or is it just a universal technique the same way as wrestling? Correct me if you will my friends
Universal actually and also very old. Pygmalists in Greece were using it. Africans had their own version, etc. Every country had a similar style.
“Dirty boxing” just means grabbing someone while attempting to strike them. In boxing, holding an opponent while striking is a foul, hence the term “dirty boxing”.
There was a lot of what resembled Tai Chi in your movements today.
0:37 was that a reverse kimura sweep?
That was a Russian two on one with a lateral drop.
Hey Ramsey
Make a video about kalaripayattu
I don’t know what that is.
@@RamseyDewey check it out
What to they mean by fighting tall?
Michael Fessey feet close together
Is there such a thing as strategic taunting?,mister Dewey
0 thats clever, thank you for your knowledge!
now coach, teach us finisher after knock him down!
“Maybe I’ll pull down right here so he doesn’t expect me to push this up right here” that’s some money set up thinking. Do A to get response so you have him helping you to do B.
If I was sparring with you I'd only practice collar ties for the sweet sweet feeling of that dome you got there
-__- how did I just now realize the JX in JX Fight Club stands for Jesus Christ. I love how prominent faith is in Ramsay's life but how professional he is in how he talks about it publicly!!
Interesting. It actually stood for Jie Xiang Boji Julebu.
@@RamseyDewey well never mind that then, but thanks for the reply nonetheless!

Just whant to remind you that you are saving lives ok? Cool,
I don't think I'm even as manly as the moustache in the thumbnail!
(armchair commentator)
A collar tie looks to me like you have pulled your opponent inside your defenses; body now wide open for body shots. Guess you have to be careful to block the opposite arm.
CLICK BAIT!!! HAhahahaha! love the channel
Hi there Ramsey ! If I do the same as ruclips.net/video/7vEBX0MLJrY/видео.html , but taking a step with not my left foot, but with my right and throwing person on his back with significant force, will this be a good option?
Ps : Ive got very basic gasp of En language(
Who else is planning a trip to Shanghi
100% that 95% of us are not that manly
man he looks real tired
No dislikes yet there will be from the ones who think they are that manly
You could of gone for the Rock Bottom.
There are hundreds of options, and only so much time.
No fake stabbing? Come on!!!
Never did respect my manhood.
I have a 7 kilo balksac!! Clean.
I’m that manly. I’m just not that pretty.
So not a lot of harm in doing it then?
