    Final Fantasy IX is in my opinion the best of the Final Fantasy series and the greatest game ever made.

      I had to beat the game twice to really fall in love with the game. The characters are all so different and the story line is one of the best in the series. :)

    The title of the theme song... "The place I'll return to someday" really sums up how I feel about this game. FFIX will always be my shelter, a beautiful and precious childhood memory. People like to say that we kids from the 90s are nothing but 'sad, nostalgic adults' now, but heck... how can you NOT be nostalgic about an adventure like this? If you looked at me back then, you'd saw just a little girl in her pastel-colored bedroom... little you know that I had just slayed the embodiment of mankind's fear itself.

      It's poetic how FF9 was a lovely call-back to earlier Final Fantasy games during its initial release. And now, over two decades later, we all look back with nostalgia at joyful moments spent playing this game during our early years.

    It's very beautiful to see that im not the only one who have a very strong nostalgia feeling about this game and music. This game means all my chilhood, all of my memories and all the things this game left me... It's a shame that i cannot live it again.. i miss the old times, even when i have this game again in my computer, and i love to play it daily, there's something that is lost in the past... No other game can touch me the way this one did. It's the perfect game to me. Ooooh the feels :')

      +David Nájera Thanks for your comment. I feel that way too. I'm a college teacher in literary studies and, even if its never the main subject of the course, I pretty much always say a word (or a lot depending of the class) on video games, especially single player RPG, the genre that is the most able to offer a good story, interesting characters and a feeling of being part of another world... just like a novel. I''ll make it quick, but what I'm trying to say is that I'm want to make people understand that video games can also be art because it implies a lot of artistic choices, from writing to aesthetic. For me, Final Fantasy IX is the perfect exemple of a game that really success at becoming a piece of art. Sorry for my English, it is my second language. Have a good one folks, and remember, you're not alone, there's people out there who loves you, even if you have not meet them yet !

    What I find odd is how much I love the Burmecia track, because I'm a massive pluviophile (I'm obsessed with rain), it just shows how well Nobuo Uematsu understands atmosphere when composing music, he literally created the perfect track for rainy ruins.

    As a very big FFIX fan, if you couldn't already tell from my username hehe, I was very moved by this tribute. This is so beautifully done. It made me feel very nostalgic, so thank you for that. The memories of when I first played this game came flooding back in. This game changed my entire life, taught me many things I still hold close to my heart. No other game can impact we as much as this one has. To all who dismiss this game merely because of the animation and designs, they are truly missing out and I pity them. Thank you for making this album. I might just stay on here all day and listen to this. I might just go and replay the game again for the 10th time. Haha.

    First glance of the tracklist for a 'melancholy' tribute of ff9, my knee-jerk reaction was "Where is Bran Bal??" But after hearing how amazing Terra was (as well as the others) I really don't want to imagine what power you could have harnessed to follow that up with Bran Bal. It's possible my head would have exploded.

      Aaannd after finding your "Buried in the Snow" album I see it is on there. I think you did very good overall on that one as well. Head still intact. Bravo on these interpretations!

  • @NinjaFlipsTV
    @NinjaFlipsTV 10 лет назад +20

    I like the Title. *I am a Gamer, and though my heart lies with other kinds of RPGs, I feel the heartache at hearing the sounds of a favorite game.* When a soundtrack can bring to mind where I was at, what my character was doing, my victories and frustrations, the beauty of a certain place or the sorrow of the loss of a favorite NPC - that's when you know a game is special. I get that way with the Oblivion and Fallout 3 Soundtracks. If I may venture to guess, out of all due respect for long time FF fans, is it not as though you secretly wish you could *unplay* the game, and re-experience it all over again anew???

    • @DarkSquall3000
      @DarkSquall3000 10 лет назад +9

      I can't give a like to these comments so I just want you to know that the words you've just said are completely worthy of my respect. What you've just said my friend is exactly what I also think. I really miss great old RPG's like FF 7, 8, 9, and The Legend of Dragoon.

    • @Phenomanimal
      @Phenomanimal 9 лет назад

      ***** Ugh yes Legend of Dragoon & FF7/FF9 are so amazing, I wish I could find more games similar to their depth, complexity and great soundtracks.

    • @philipjohnson4094
      @philipjohnson4094 9 лет назад +1

      Phenomanimal ***** I suggest, to the both of you, Radiata Stories for the PS2. While a great deal less serious than those classic games you mentioned (but still, a serious storyline ultimately) - that was the last game that made me feel as immersed as the ones you've listed.
      Also, I'm curious why neither of you listed FFX. That game is right up there with the greats IMO. Soundtrack included.

    This is brilliant work, thank you, I am so happy I could hear this... This game means a lot to me, it's my childhood :) I played it as a kid for the very first time, when I couldn't even speak english, I didn't understand the story, yet I liked the game. Now I play FFIX every year on emulator and can't get enough. Just like David Najéra said, this game touched me like no other game ever could. So many emotions, many life advices (oftenly indirect, but also direct) and many other things that have altered my way of thinking for the better :) I always listen to FFIX's OST every now and then, I have full OST from the whole game in my computer; even in my phone , and planning to tattoo something from FFIX in the future. :) Thank you again TPR for this beautiful experience.

    Before listening to this I never realized how similar Over the Hill is to Melodies of Life, it's common for Uematsu to make variations of the themes but damn, he really omfiscates them extremely well in the originals.
    And btw, I think it's a good thing they are similar, creates cohesion in the soundtrack.

    • @somerandomguy39
      @somerandomguy39 10 лет назад +5

      What you're talking about, is a tool called a leitmotif. Made popular in opera, motifs are bits of music that are associated with a certain character, mood or theme within a work. In longer works like opera, and soundtracks, it helps associate the music with the action. This was especially important in the pre-voice era. it can also be used for drama elements such as foreshadowing and foils. Uematsu uses motifs in a lot of his work. Watch/listen to the ending theme from FF7, and you can hear the motifs recur as the characters are presented. Motifs can also be key shifted to help indicate a major change. One example of this is the Fall of Mordor in LotR:RotK. the dark, brooding theme is shifted to a hopeful one with a simple shift.

    Roses of May is by far the most beautiful song in the Final Fantasy franchise. Thats just my honest opinion but...who else agrees with me?

    • @lewi5676
      @lewi5676 10 лет назад

      I dunno. I like the melancholy tribute of cid's theme. But as for the originals, i like VI theme of love and To Zanarkand.

    • @joshmoua4693
      @joshmoua4693 10 лет назад

      lewi5676 To Zanarkand is also a great one but it got overplayed and became over rated.

      No argument there. I can't remember the name, its either unforgettable sorrow, or regrettable sorrow. Its from 9 as well, and its quite nice too.

      lewi5676 Other title is endless sorrow, one of the hidden pearls of FFIX soundratck. I regret that it's not included here. Oustanding work TPR btw :)

      Florian Gailliegue TPR has a 2014 version ofvMemoria: A melancholy tribute to ff9, and the one I was thinking of is "Unforgettable sorrow" at 29:47 of the other video

    Every negative comment about this game can be destroyed easily by a random Eidolon. It is "Invincible".

      Kalin Puls Yeah they make everything a lot easier, without them the game would be a lot more difficult to complete :D
