Sitting at the riverside, cleaning the fresh fish you caught. Campfire lit behind you by your beautiful family. It's getting dark. A pack of wolves on the other side of the river who finished hunting passes. You cross eyes. There is tension yet a strong feeling of comeradeship.
Should be played at a funeral outside in the wind, seeing the tree's, grass moving in the wind. Time to move on to another place. Its both happy and sad.
With this one I always felt like someone or some animal wanders through the snowy forests, happens upon the town where the people are celebrating that they made it halfway through the winter. You, or a Fox or whatever else stalks around the village unnoticed, curious, but not willing to reveal yourself. People dance in the townsquare, drums beat and people sing, while also mourning those they lost in the previous year. Finally you turn away, returning to your own journey and leaving this strange village behind.
the song has parts that seem to tell a story first half: your town is growing, prospering, but you feel as if something in wrong. as if all is TOO right, too quiet... second part: disaster strikes! plagues, tornadoes, starvation! the end seems to be nearing every season...
A few months ago I thought it was an instrument, too. But then I found this video and my mind blew! XD The human species is incredible! ^^ ruclips.net/video/41_d4D7T6uI/видео.html&start_radio=1 The whole vid (and other vids from them too!) is super cool but the whistle you mean starts at 2:30. Greetings!
Makes me feel so relaxed and yet preparing for some sort of adventure

By far the best track from this game.
Dissonant choir as soundtrack for banished people, bloody perfect.

My favorite, for me this music enbodies everything Banished, excellent game.
Throat singing?
I was amazed to find this in Banished. This is great!

I imagine this playing over mythical spirits moving though a moonlit winter forest
My favorite song in the game - the singing pulled me in and never let go.
This is my favorite track from Banished. I shared it with my mom, and although she was impressed, she apparently disconcerted by the throat singing.
This track and track 9 are by far my favorites. So atmospheric.
I absoleutely love the implementation of sygyt, and therefore this is my favorite of the soundtrack
Anyone else notice that this is in Vikings season one episode 8 around 38 minutes in?
AAAAH THE NOSTALGIA

Yep, that's overtone/throat singing.
+Phlegmatic Lymph 0:00
yes it is
my fav soundtrack
Reminds me of Dead Poets Society movie, the part where Neil kills himself, music is similar.
viking :D
Can someone please tell me some good videos for female vocals like this? Such a good sound.
+Spunk Bubble
Try Gyorgy Ligeti - Lux aeterna. His whole requiem composition too.
Anna-Maria Hefele is probably the best overtone singer. ruclips.net/video/i9-pwR6qdhE/видео.html
