@@atomknight8361 people aren’t made of sugar, and weather proof cloying exists. Of course there will be places where vehicles are necessary, but those could just as easily be trams or buses instead of everyone owning a personal vroom vroom mobile. And for the longer distances, trains are amazing.

The only thing that kills me is bikes on the road when there is dedicated bike lane for them less than 2 m away, safely on the sidewalk. But I guess they are like, in the tour they don't ride in the sidewalk, so fuck that shit, I did not buy all this equipment to ride in the sidewalk like a bitch.

Crazy take but biking on the sidewalk is just as useful as biking in a car lane. Some times drivers park in bike lanes and sometimes sidewalks are full. Bikes should use them interchangeably to adapt to the situation.

In the netherlands we have two seperate words for functional cyclists, just going to work, where biking is a mode of transport, and sport/racing cyclists. The racing type tend to neglect a lot of traffic rules and everybody hates them, whereas prettymuch everybody is a functional cyclist.
But this is I guess a different case because these racing cyclists will ride in the road when there are dedicated bike paths.
