I totally feel ya P.S. you should've just gotten Mame and played the original Arcade version that way. Takes like 4 minutes. WAY easier than the hoops you had to jump through for this version
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Not Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate. It made sense at the time of release. I will agree they really messed up the names after MK4, for the PS2 era. It was really hard to figure out the sequence of the games unless you were really into the MK. Which at that time was the dark ages for the series. No one cares about MK between 4-9. I’m actually surprised it made such a strong come back and didn’t go under. They did a great job with 9 and got everyone rehooked on it.
I hope the new Mortal Kombat has a better intro song other than 11... I pray that its not some stupid rap song that doesn't relate to the game at all except for like one or two bars. That was just trash
You’re 100% right about the dumb games, but c’mon… “It’s hard, so it sucks”?? 😂 You even conceded that it isn’t “bad”, but the fact that it inspired a series that got progressively better renders it obsolete? Weak! The foundation is never obsolete lest the series change its foundational components. As you mature in your opinion vids, I encourage you to report on the distinctions between “I don’t like” and “this is an objective developmental flaw.” Nice video!
This Modern generation don't know how to make anything they just copying from old stuff but made it modern which is stupid why do that when it was already been made they just repeating the same stuff over and over
If you wanna see me play through MK2 and the rest of the MK games as well, drop a sub so you don’t miss it! I really appreciate all the support on this video and I thank everyone who has given me the time of day and watched this video ❤
11:36 With Sub-Zero you always can have 2 hits combo wich opponent will be unable to block it. After each succesful diagonal jump kick or uppercut you have to add slide immediatelly (low punch + block + low kick togather). So most powerful sequence for him is to 1.freeze +2.uppercut+3.jump kick(sometimes can be blocked)+4.slide (can not be blocked if previous attack was succesful)
love the DK music background the water level if i’m not mistaken. The naming for these games and movies today are just lazy and lazy writing for story modes tbh
Take advice from a professional I love these games and I'm the best atom these games take techniques That you have to learn but once you learn the easy techniques these games are the greatest and fun😊😊
You forgot to mention Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which was the final updated version of Mortal Kombat 3, which was never in the arcades. You also forgot to mention Mortal Kombat Advance and Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the GBA and the Nintendo DS, which was Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the GBA and the DS. There is also Mortal Kombat: Unchained for the Sony PSP and other Mortal Kombat games that you can look up on the internet.
This game is like the Model-T Ford. It's important historically, but I wouldn't drive in one today; with better *air conditioned* vehicles in the modern day. Not every game can be a Mega Man or Super Mario that ages gracefully.
You acknowledge the importance of the game, also the fact that delivers everything it needs to the deliver... You show the game has variety, since your experience with Sub-Zero is much smoother than the ones you had with Johnny Cage or Kano... But you still give it a 4/10 AND call me an old fuck. What the hell, man? 😂 Seriously though, you can't score a 1992 game with a 2023 vision, or else every game from that era is going to score terribly. The videogame industry as we know it owes its existence to games like MK 1 (from 1992 😂) and that must not be forgotten. This 1992 game gets a 10/10 every time, because we're still talking about it 30 years on.
I 100% understand where you’re coming from, and the old Fuck thing was just a quick joke that I honestly do think was a little harsh. I score it with a 2023 vision because that’s all I have to go off of. Obviously the game wasn’t a 4/10, and it isn’t a 4/10 if you think about what it did for the industry. However, it would be different had I grown up with it, in the same way that I grew up playing Super Mario 64, which also did a lot for the industry, and realistically isn’t perfect considering Super Mario Oddyssey, but I’d give it a high score because I have better context. In this video I am looking purely from a 2023 perspective, which is mainly what I have to go off of concerning this game. I promise i wasn’t trying to just shit on the game, and I really do understand your perspective and where you’re coming from
Also, part of why I gave it that score is honestly a skill issue, the AI feels insanely broken which I know is because it was an arcade game and wants to take money, but it did hinder my enjoyability when sometimes it felt flat out unfair
I get it. I'm just saying that if we start doing this, someone in 2050 is going to give Red Dead Redemption 2 a 3/10. Having the luxury of hindsight, we have to take everything in consideration. And believe me, you're preaching to the choir when you talk about MK's unfair difficulty 😂 doesn't take from the fact that it is a master piece for its time and must be remembered as such. I understand you weren't shitting on the game, but scoring it with a 2023 perspective, you're putting MK at the same level of something like Gollum. The era must taken into consideration in every review. For games or any other form of entertainment. Other than that score, I really enjoyed the video BTW 💪
5:45 I wonder...why did it never occur to you to jump and kick? It is the easiest strategy in MK1 (1991) to win, when I played MK1 when they brought the arcade to my city, nobody knew how to play, I saw the game, I put "1 coin" and I got to goro... the first time I played, I realized that the flying kick was the technique of the game, I never stayed on the ground
Thanks for giving it a shot. Tbh it seems easier to go back to than some PS1 games lolol I would love to see you try the original Laura Croft Tomb Raider haha.
Halloween 2018 should've been called Halloween Returns IMO because it's not a remake. Mortal Kombat 9 isn't really a remake either so yes, a subtitle would be more suitable.

the real mk died at mk3, everything else is just a new revamped fighting game using the mk characters calling it mk deception, Armageddon etc for the new age. true mk players stopped at umk3 trilogy or mk2, or mk1 way more original. this is why there are so many fan made mugen classic mk games that is on going, like mk2 remix or mk 2 plus, umk3 plus on mame, they miss the real feel of mk. mk died a long time ago, i used to be a top mk2 player back in the early 90's.
Upon rewatching this video to grab the link to share. I noticed something. In you're rant about different. Media with the same title Halloween 2007 doesn't count, it's a remake. Where as Halloween 2018 does count since it's a indirect sequel. Not that it really matters here but... fuck it It's almost 4 AM here so I figured i'd point it out, cause why not? Lol
Hey, but I thought that mortal kombat XL was because the characters will come up fat, after all those years fighting, they took some vacations and they got fat!!! Nahhhhh!!! Just joking! Anyways, I can still remember the first time I played the game of mortal kombat it was back in 1994 I was 10 years old, and I remembered that a friend from school just bought it and he invited me to play it. It was pretty great, but now my interests have changed for good yet I still like playing video games but not like when I was a child, not that much!!!
Jump/walk back, jump forward kick, rinse and repeat (ocasionaly you would have to block while jumping back to stop and punish an attack. This was the easiest game in the arcade tbh. I think you're the only person I ever heard saying this game is hard....
God I’m all set with mortal Kombat now. I wanted to see who won after Armageddon, and Shao Lahn was already carried off and killed by dragon king. So fucking stupid to do a back tot he future time travel gimmick and multiple dimensions like everything else is doing. All mortal Kombat is now is crossover characters and even more over the top fatalities than what’s necessary. What happened to storyline, creativity and character development? Mortal Kombat is past its prime sadly and I can’t see it living for too much longer outside of its arcade mode which has been its only redeeming quality.
couldve just downloaded an emulator my dude. Also, to win, literally just jump heavy kick, then sweep kick. You'll beat the game easily lol. This is true for the 2nd game as well
With your naming convention problems, for Nintendo, in their punch out games, there have been five games in the series and every single one of them has either been called Punch Out! (3 games) or Super Punch Out!!! Lol
I only play this now for the retro community it has gained now. Been there since its’ inception, hate the AI so much, people creating achievements for this game is just insane for an old fuck like me (32 but who’s counting). I still enjoy the game because of the memories it brought me growing up and playing around with friends who, let’s be honest, is even better than the shit AI.
I couldn't agree more with your annoyance about badly named products. It also bugs the crap out of me when games get a retroactive number added like with Dark Souls. It was just Dark Souls but now its always refereed to as Dark Souls 1. Drives me nuts.
Actually in that time the only hype thing about Mortal Kombat was its digitized graphics and violence. Aside from that it was not a good fighting game compared to likes of Street Fighter 2 or Fatal Fury. All characters and their moves were very similar to each other, animations were rough and gameplay was not that good either.
I think you just need to come to your senses and realize that "Wait a sec, this is an arcade game, it's supposed to be difficult to eat up your quarters" which is why the console versions are the better experience, at least in my opinion, because it being a console game, you can fix the difficulty to meet your skill

In the original mortal kombat, it's important to beat the ai as soon as possible. As the match goes on, the ai gets more and more bs
Yeah it’s ridiculously difficult, the ai is so cheap
You missed Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.
Well no I know about it, I also missed special forces and mythologies sub zero, I was just saying off the top of my head
You missed Deadly Alliance, and brought up Shaolin Monks which was a beat'em up and not a fighting game in the mainline series.
Correct
Fun fact, the Deadly Alliance logo is a roman numeral 5. They were trying to be fancy with the naming. But yea, nobody calls it 5.
Reminds me of GSTAR321 raging when he does gameplay of Mortal Kombat games.
I’ve never heard of him before, I’ll have to check him out
@@steele1Funny man .. People think he s dead.. he posted a couple Friday the 13th 9 months ago. The theories were in the comment sections of the classic rage playthroughs of Shinobi 3..He s dead..I'm like I had to tell people he responded to a comment I made about how cool it was that they had all versions of Jason from all the original films. He replied about that there was even a purple NES Fthe13th game. I said this to a dude and he commented back.. Nah he's dead .. So I just didn't waste anymore time shattering this man's "My Truth" ..Shinobu 3 is a great one his though as well as the Nythologies Sub Zero ones. There us an actual just best Mortal Kombat moments that just edits like the best Rage montages of all the MK titles he played.
I hope he’s not dead, that would be really unfortunate
@@steele1 incidentally i have a single compilation of mrgstar rages on my channel, its the most popular gstar compilation out there mind you
Just this past summer I was helping my uncle get the original Mortal Kombat up and running on his PC over the phone. He was so happy when it started working. And then the rest of the conversation was him yelling and cursing and me dying laughing at him going back to it. I tried to tell him in advance it sucked now but he eventually ended up laughing too.
The original 1992 mortal kombat game is like looking at cave paintings now . Game is over 30 years old its a relic / classic.
Bonus points for the snes donkey kong country music.
Aquatic ambience ❤
I totally feel ya
P.S. you should've just gotten Mame and played the original Arcade version that way.
The 3d trilogy was good. All of those games had something special, but none of that era were truly great outside Shaolin monks
Deception is goat man
I hope the new Mortal Kombat has a better intro song other than 11... I pray that its not some stupid rap song that doesn't relate to the game at all except for like one or two bars. That was just trash
I hope it’s something closer to the MKX reveal trailer
@@steele1 exactly! At least have the actual MK song! Even add a twist to it would be fine
@@steele1Chop Suey

Goro the real spam master it's a good 2mins of grab n punch 🤣🤣🤣
You’re 100% right about the dumb games, but c’mon… “It’s hard, so it sucks”?? 😂 You even conceded that it isn’t “bad”, but the fact that it inspired a series that got progressively better renders it obsolete? Weak! The foundation is never obsolete lest the series change its foundational components. As you mature in your opinion vids, I encourage you to report on the distinctions between “I don’t like” and “this is an objective developmental flaw.” Nice video!
You experienced the weird preference of characters to enemies phenomenon that MK1, 2, and 3 had.
Thanks for this 💯
they're running out of ideas
True they are running out of ideas, no creativity
This is a super lame video this video was terrible. He had nothing really to talk about. Why put this even put this video up. This is sad.
I can tell you're younger. When you were fighting Goro with Kano and getting bent out of shape pulled out the impatient gen-z attitude.
Bro that commentary when you were playing goro with Kano took me out 🤣🤣, but it’s really how it be
Goro was whoopin that ass. I got a lot of quality laughs watching that part but I could relate. I subscribed off the strength of that
Thank you, I appreciate it
This Modern generation don't know how to make anything they just copying from old stuff but made it modern which is stupid why do that when it was already been made they just repeating the same stuff over and over
Someone was a fan of the "Chronologically Confused" video from AVGN
I'm gonna go ahead and dislike this video. The first half of this video is just you complaining about the titles and the AI for a 31 year old game.
If you wanna see me play through MK2 and the rest of the MK games as well, drop a sub so you don’t miss it! I really appreciate all the support on this video and I thank everyone who has given me the time of day and watched this video ❤
Please do MK2 play through 🙏
I gotta see this
@@TaylorMade223 don’t worry the video is coming out real soon, I’ve been editing the past couple days
Technically the original was just called Mortal Kombat
2:18 from this point they ran out of ideas and don't know wtf they doing anymore with the modern mortal kombat
Yes. That was the classic strategy to live by.
Going to say this screw you I grew up with MK in the arcades. Other than that decent video and get good!
love the DK music background the water level if i’m not mistaken. The naming for these games and movies today are just lazy and lazy writing for story modes tbh
Take advice from a professional I love these games and I'm the best atom these games take techniques That you have to learn but once you learn the easy techniques these games are the greatest and fun😊😊
Scorpion cheeses endurance if you land a spear as the opponent jumps into battle it will Insta KO if you uppercut
Don’t worry, I’ll mention every mortal Kombat game in my next video
Look up the techniques these games are very easy and simple and very fun😊
This game is like the Model-T Ford. It's important historically, but I wouldn't drive in one today; with better *air conditioned* vehicles in the modern day. Not every game can be a Mega Man or Super Mario that ages gracefully.
U've never played it with a friend, my friend. We keep going back at it, even 30 years later...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 5: Modern Warfare 2.
@@joaocolaco1498 thank you, I appreciate your compliment and I will take what you are saying and apply it to videos in the future
i say screw them - we are just calling it MK12 regardless
I hate when they give a reboot the same name as the original, it makes it hard to find in search results.
I’m not sure, I did jump and kick in mk2 and I have been in umk3 so idk why I didn’t in the first
Love you ranted about titles for like 3 mins
Edit: That was sarcasm
You have to learn the airpunch Get as close as possible air punch then duck rince and repeats😊
for me Mortal Kombat is Midway and Midway only !
This fucking game was the reason i got into mk but jesus it was hard as fuck
Thanks for giving it a shot. Tbh it seems easier to go back to than some PS1 games lolol I would love to see you try the original Laura Croft Tomb Raider haha.
Mortal Kombat is the best fighting game evar
My guy, you really just forgot about deadly alliance, didnt ya?
6:10 Johnny can't split punch Sonya in the actual 1992 Mortal Kombat
"I DON'T WANNA FIGHT GORO!!" 😂😂😂
If you thought this game was difficult wait until you play MK 2. Trust me you're gonna want to falcon punch the screen.
Oh trust me I know
Goro beat the shit out of you lmfao 😂😂
Don’t get started on the Halloween titles
Man forgot about deadly alliance
This was truly annoying to watch.
Halloween 2018 should've been called Halloween Returns IMO because it's not a remake. Mortal Kombat 9 isn't really a remake either so yes, a subtitle would be more suitable.
Midway Rubberband AI from their arcade games are among the cheapest ones ever 😂
Getting as bad as Halloween lol
Lmao the fkn rant in the Beginning is hilarious but true tho. Mortal Kombat has always been known 4 its Outlandish themes and controversy But hey that's why we love it
I personally don't care how the names are As long as each game Is properly Recognized
F y I This is how we'll differentiate Each game from now on So fans Let it be known #SetInStone Share this comment so it goes viral. For all fans to see
You ready ok it goes
Mortal kombat
MK9
Mortal1Kombat When we say mortal kombat We mean 1992 Version MortalKombat1 Means 2023 Version. MK9 2011 Version.
the real mk died at mk3, everything else is just a new revamped fighting game using the mk characters calling it mk deception, Armageddon etc for the new age. true mk players stopped at umk3 trilogy or mk2, or mk1 way more original. this is why there are so many fan made mugen classic mk games that is on going, like mk2 remix or mk 2 plus, umk3 plus on mame, they miss the real feel of mk. mk died a long time ago, i used to be a top mk2 player back in the early 90's.
About that Mortal KOMBAT was originally going to be spelled with a C but a Disgruntled Midway Employee changed the C to K and the NAME stuck that way
Actually, Mortal Kombat XL is MK40 because XL is the Roman Numeral for 40 😂
JK, lol it's just dumb
Upon rewatching this video to grab the link to share. I noticed something. In you're rant about different. Media with the same title
Halloween 2007 doesn't count, it's a remake.
Where as Halloween 2018 does count since it's a indirect sequel.
Not that it really matters here but... fuck it It's almost 4 AM here so I figured i'd point it out, cause why not? Lol
There is only 1 Mortal Kombat 1 and that is from 2023. We can name the 1e MK just Mortal Kombat and the newer version Mortal Kombat reboot. Or MK9?👌👌
My dude believe me MK2 Is the worst. AI near perfect, you can't beat it with normal means
This is true for the 2nd game as well
Bro gets a sub from how he had my girlfriend and I dying to him fighting Goro w Kano😭 Especially when Shang transformed to Goro 😭
😂😂😂aye I was thinking the same thing like ....what the fuck!? Is going! On!? Your hilarious dude 💯👍🏿
I couldn't agree more with your annoyance about badly named products. It also bugs the crap out of me when games get a retroactive number added like with Dark Souls. It was just Dark Souls but now its always refereed to as Dark Souls 1. Drives me nuts.
On every version of MK:Arcade kollection Goros lair Music always stops for some reason😑 I hate that I got the ps3 & 360 versions
Just call it Mortal Kombat 1 The New Era
Yeah, just something that helps seperste it
I think you just need to come to your senses and realize that "Wait a sec, this is an arcade game, it's supposed to be difficult to eat up your quarters" which is why the console versions are the better experience, at least in my opinion, because it being a console game, you can fix the difficulty to meet your skill
Mortal Kombat is very easy once you get the AI. The way you are playing its really hard to win. You cheese the AI's weaknesses.
Bro... It's 30yrs old. You had to be there I guess lol. Everything these days is a remake or re-something. To some degree it's been that way for a long time. However it didn't used to be so blatant lol.
i resonate with this in a way i didn’t realize
I’m glad I could make you realize
Mortal kombat 1 isn't a classic retro its just modern mortal kombat which people don't understand its not the same like the arcade!!!
So i was playing mk1(1992) and was fighting goro and found out you can draw in the game
Bros raging killllled meee😂😂😂😂😂😂 “I Hate Ittt”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Giving it today a 4/10 is kinda understandable but unfair.
At its release it shook the world stronger than street fighter did.
