@@merkjanoosterhoff1590 Unfortunately, the ending of her association with Jerry Wexler was nothing like the beginning of it. Neither of them would discuss the last couple of albums that they did together.
@@sashineb.2114 l know! I always bought her albums but those last ones l hardly ever listen to. I love all her work from the first one on Colombia until Sparkle and after that it went downwards. Didn't like her Arista recordings that much either, altough live she was great in those days and her voice, as always incredible. Anyway, l'm still an Aretha lover. Her voice still lifts me up! And l love her. Been a fan since l was 13 in 1967..
@@merkjanoosterhoff1590 She seemed to change around 1973 or 74, losing the weight and wanting to show off the changes. Have you read the Rolling Stone 1974 article, "Re-assessing Aretha"? It mentioned people laughing when she came out in top hat & tails. After the huge success of her Amazing Grace album, I think she should have stayed with Jerry, even though her album with Quincy was good. It seemed whenever she strayed from the tried-and-true soul formula, the sales and airplay would suffer. I'm glad Clive was able to bring her back, but none of those albums can compare to her Atlantic material.
The groove on this live version is amazing. ..as good as the recording.. The background girls are on point. I first discovered this song on Napster like back in 2000 lol. I remember seeing it and trying to download it and failed several times.. Finally got it.. Awe...memories.
Her voice really changed around 1980. I was shocked when the first Arista albums were released. Her voice had dropped noticeably. Those cigarettes really took their toll.
She could play that piano 🎹
What she's doing is incredibly difficult to do-playing and singing at the same time at the level she's able to perform is truly a gift from God.
Just casually being the greatest of all time
This single and album were way underrated
I remember when Tower Records in New York had a window full of the albums, 99 cents each, trying to sell them off.
Because it was a very dissapointing album. This song was the only surprise on it.

Her voice began to change around '82 or '83. In 1980 she was still crystal clear like a bell..

Agree, those backup singer's are in the pocket. Make this song pop.
