This has been incredibly helpful...There are people that paid for courses and haven't learned as much as you offer on here. So happy I found your channel. So much useful stuff. What a time to be alive! :))
I'm only 26 seconds into this video and I already know it's going to be SO helpful. You're incredible for uploading all of this. I feel like I owe you money. Feel free to drop your Venmo in the descriptions lol
You have made it so easy for me to understand different types of fabrics rendering coz it was the most confusing topic I came across in Fashion Illustration. Bless you dear for helping all new students like me!
A deep royal blue eye shade would look so awesome on your eyes. Your lenses are throwing these blue shadows on your eyeliner and is totally cute. Don’t even start me on complementing your tutorials. You rock!
I am having a real problem rendering shine on black fabrics such as satin. It always looks flat with white lines and spaces. I am totally amateur at this but I need to provide sketches for the local amateur theatre group I work with. The specific show is high glam and shine. Your videos have been very helpful to me.
I am absolutely amazed by your talent. I've taken Fashion classes back in college ages ago and I've learned so much more just watching your tutorials. That says something about education 🙄. Too bad youtube wasn't around back in my day. You are an absolute gem for taking the time to share and upload all these tutorials. You have given so many of us who loves fashion an opportunity to learn and aspire to work in the Fashion industry. Efharisto poli! Much love from Greece! 🇬🇷
watching her videos even though i am not a student, she's really helped me out with the fashion of my characters a lot actually. i've been able to spot seams faster and the over all look has greatly though i still have trouble with the lighting of my characters, it has helped me a lot, i thank you zoe hong.
i can't thank you enough for your videos! Fashion design was my life as a child and had to give it up, but finding your channel has brought it back and now I am going full force ahead with it again and hope to get my bridal/formal wear line out soon! I really cant thank you enough for doing this !!
Thank you. I have been trying to find information on leather for hours now. Everything I've seen is listed as a tutorial but is really just a speed drawing. You presented an actual tutorial that told me exactly what I wanted to know and how to accomplish it myself.
Hi Zoey, I am watching you In EGYPT and sending you love from there.! Thanks a million for your awesome videos. Have you lately watched the The Pharoahs Golden Parade ? I have seen beautiful Egyptian inspired gowns. Have you ever designed an Egyptian inspired collection?
Sequin video: If you don't know how to make shiny fabrics, watch my tutorial on that! Shiny fabrics: If you haven't watched my shadows video, watch that first!
i like ur way to teach it is direct to information thanks a lot .. i have a question also ..can i draw without learning how to make pattern nor sawing?
I love u so much I'm big fan of u because u taught me so many things we don't take lessons like these here in Saudi Arabia and i wanna be a fashion designer 💐❤️
Hi Zoe, I really am unable to visualize the crinkle action part about the light shadow, light shadow. Are you able to do a more detailed video and show some examples of the multiple crinkles? Thank you. :)
Hi,am a big fan of you❤ I would like to see the sketches or paintings of Indian dresses with heavy hand work,it would be great to learn for me, Thank you 😊
Do you have a lace render class? I'm looking for tutorials for bridal garments, you know... ANyway GREAT video!! Your sense of humor is cracking me up!
Hi Zoe! Love your advice and wisdom! I’m putting together a portfolio for school and I’m having difficulties finding tutorials on how to illustrate LED/fiber optics in clothing. Any tips? Thanks!
Hello Zoey, I just started watching your tutorials following a fashion illustration course by robin schneider on linkedin. Can you please make a tutorial on developing prints on illustrator? I already saw your video where you make a rose print but it was more concentrated on the print development process rather than using illustrator for prints. Even after searching through millions of tutorials by Adobe, Linkedin, Robin schneider I could not find a decent illustrator print tutorial for fashion designers for the life of me. Watching you work with that rose pattern, I could see that you are quite excelled in illustrator. So can you please do a video dedicated to developing different kinds of prints on illustrator?
Hi Zoe , I’m able to do a good job for light colors for shiny fabrics as in the video but I’m having a lot of problem with rendering a black leather medium shine pants. I’m not able to either get a good gradation or the the highlights end up looking very rigid. I looked at reference photos of leather trousers but the highlights and shadows are all over the place Please help
Hi. Your tutorials are extremely useful for me.. and thnks a bunch for all your tutorials.. I wanted to know how to illustrate chiffons in long gowns..and shaded chiffons particularly.
Hey Zoe Hong i was wondering if you could make a video about using markers basic skills for learners because I just brought 36 markers and want to learn how to use them
+Jye and I Hmm. Well, basically, I tell students to start using them to color stuff. Trial and error. I have a video called Intro to Markers for Designers and Illustrators (in my Different Media playlist) and one called Tutorial: Basic Fashion Illustration with Markers. You could get started there and then let me know if you had something else in mind or a more specific question.
Hi I want to become a fashion designer and I barely know any of this this stuff without coming to your channel and I just want to ask, why aren’t you. Fashion designer or at least a creative designer you are so talented
any advice? I'm a freshman in high school wanting to go into fashion design, right now I'm taking art classes and going to be taking apparel classes in my later years of high school.
Practice a little bit every day. Take 1 day a week off or you'll get burnt out. Don't compare yourself to others, compare your work to your old work from 6 months ago, 1 year ago, to keep yourself improving. Don't forget fashion is supposed to be fun. Good luck!
Hi could you show a video of how you do the bottom picture you have under for illustration sorry dont know how you called its really a great technique thank you for all your time to you show thia tutorial
Hello Zoe! I was wondering if these methods apply with using colored pencils as well? I don't use copic markers or paint when I do illustrations because I'm still using colored pencils. P.S you're totally awesome!
I would use the last method, leaving the white of the paper to show the shine, because it's harder to put white on top of color when you're using pencils.
Hey Zoe! I was rewatching this video as I illustrate some costume designs for les mis (requires lots of silks) and it was super helpful. I was wondering if you had any tips for rendering a two-tone taffeta? I'm stumped.
You mean iridescent fabrics? Those fabrics typically have a dominant color. Let's say you have a turquoise and purple iridescent and the turquoise looks more prominent. I would follow this tutorial but the base would be the turquoise, the highlights would a light and bright purple, and the shadows would be a purpley tone deeper than the turquoise, because in those two-tones, the 2nd color really shows up as the fabric moves up and down and around bodies, etc. Hope that makes sense!
*LARGE BREAST TUTORIAL PLZ!* 3:26 I’m a 36DD but have 30” waist... I have the worst time trying to draw for my shape. Show us how to illustrate different body types!💖
Cool colors like blues, purples, blue-toned pinks, bluish greens take cool grays. Warm colors like red, orange, coral, warm pinks take warm grays. Yellows and greens take French grays.
Thanks a lot for the amazing vedios... i live half way across z world in Egypt and I'm so lucky to come across ur amazing lectures ❤ wish u great success 😃
+William Lin I think you think that your question is quite specific but I could really answer that in a dozen ways. :) I hadn't intended on making any videos on the design process but I recently started getting some requests so I will try to put something together. Keep in mind that the design process is not as simple as Step 1 Do this, Step 2 Do that. This is why students must pass 4, 5, 6 design classes (depending on where you go to school) to earn their degree. When I teach design, the conversation I have with the student is typically tailored around each student's needs, skill level, and project. I will try to put together something together that works for lots of people.
My only comment is, love u forever. Hahahah I am not a lesbian but just can not find a better word to express my appreciation! I am doing my first design project now and my main fabrics used for my collections are cotton, polythane? and wool, not match this tutorial that much but still I got some inspirations from ur videos and gonna try to figure it out by myself:))))) Hahaha anyway, thanks again and again, looking forward to see ur next fabric tutorial!!!!
>> I got some inspirations from ur videos and gonna try to figure it out by myself PERFECT. That is exactly how I want people to use my videos. It's impossible to cover every single fabric in the world but you're smart enough to take the info and run with it.
Wow these tutorials are PREMIUM quality!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You could easily be selling these tutorials for money
Yeaaaah
