I have a 04 ranger 500 2x4I rebuilt mine everything looked good put it in my machine I've got low neutral and reverse but my high gear almost seems like the clutch dog is not engaging it clicks but when I spin the clutch backwards it locks into gear
Yeah, sounds like worn dogs. All the wear is typically on the load side. Thats why it engages when you spin it backwards because that side of the dogs probably still look like new.
Unfortunately not. I figured that if somebody felt confident enough to tackle rebuilding the trans, then removing it "should" be a piece of cake for them.
hi great video,i have this problem i bought a ranger 500 its stuck in reverse when i disassembled it had no spring inside would it cause the problem, pleases help colin.

Jerry, Thank you for your video. I am sure this information will come in handy when I pull the transmission from my ranger.

@@jerryjones2215 so you think it's the clutch dog and not the shifting forks
Do you have a video on how to get the trans out
Sorry, but I don't. I figured that if you were advanced enough to watch this part, you could probably figure out how to remove it.
