I have the exact same opinion as you. I try and rebuild the factory carbs when I can, and like you said, there are times when rebuilding is no longer an option. I'm working on a Polaris 325 trailboss 4 stroke right now. Factory Mikuni ran fine, but had a gas leak out of the overflow when motor was turned off. I had it off a few times and tried cleaning everything that I could get to. I came to the conclusion that it was probably the O-ring behind the seat, but the two screws that held the seat in was stripped out. So I bought one from Amazon that had good reviews - it cost me $42.00. I installed last night and it started right up with no problems. I'm keeping the old Mikuni in my collection just in case I can ever fix it one day, but for now I'm up and running again!
Bought the same carb off Ebay .Now my 2002 500 Sportsman is running great.Replaced fuel lines ,fuel pump, carb ,and intake boot. Its was backfiring , rough idle ,and random stalling. All aftermarket parts .Thanks for the video.I highly recommend this carb ....$40 ..no brainer !!!
What carb? There alot of then in Amazon. Can you give the order number? I guess I'm spoiled but a sure called Rusted Nut Repair actually shows the biz the parts come in asking with part order number etc. That is awesome. I wish everyone aphid do that. That's the most important part is knowing the part to order exact thing. Heck your site could even win a sponsorship for it, it happens. Thx!
Great video! I’ve used these with great success over the past couple years. One time I had one out of the box the top end parts were floating around the diaphragm but it took a couple mins to reassemble and it was fine. Magnum 425 came to me with a suspected faulty cam lobe, which turned out to be a bad carb. Swapped in the new aftermarket carb and flipped it for a very nice profit.

I've owned my small engine shop for 15 years. Chinese carbs are a great solution once you learn the common quirks. I've used these on polaris a handful of times too with good results.. They also like the vacuum needle valve raised more often than not for best wide open performance. With or without ethanol blended fuels. I'll be replacing the carb on my 600 twin soon. I'll try the one in your link and see how it runs. Nice video!
@@TitaniummanGarage I just put one on my 600 because the factory one started leaking like crazy from the overflow even though it runs good. New needle and seat didn't fix it. This year I have bought one and it will not win awards but it works. However I am about to order two for a Polaris magnum 500 and a sportsman 500 due to the carbs I got with them are absolutely destroyed. I'm on my 4th Amazon carb for my 04 Sportsman 600 Twin. I'm at an absolute loss. No matter what I do, I just cant get it to run properly. Bought a chinese carb and it worked for a year before it kept flooding out the engine. If you shut the engine off it was really hard to get started again. Bought another one and it did it immediately and even started dripping gas. My fuel pressure is 3 psi. Needle and seat are junk on these.
Sometimes the needle valve gets dislodged during shipping and handling so it leaks right from the get go. So always check that before installing a non OEM (Chinese) carb.

I drove it around out in the pasture, then took it back in the barn and there was this overwelming smell of fuel. I looked beneath and it was leaking fuel. The fuel is coming out of the drain tube on the bottom of the bowl. It does this everytime when I drive it more than 5-10 minutes. Is there anything I need to know, I'm hoping I just put this thing in and maybe have to adjust air fuel. Are my hopes too high. If so you got to make a video between know and then of totally tuning and setting up a carb from scratch. Thanks in advance!
thank you so much for information . only thing i like to know i have Honda and need 36 mm Carb so what you recommend ?
Oh..I see. You asked about a Honda. I dont work on them so I cant be certain. They do make aftermarket for hondas. Maybe check ebay.
@@TitaniummanGarage OK i see you work on ODES i have 1 Honda and 2 Odes 400 for my kids so is same thing only interesting was you said 10 years warranty and that is why i like to buy 2 or 3 of them for spare Honda and odes is 36 mm all 3 atv i have is japan Carb on it
It's been 5 years since I had those odes and Honda. Once I found out how difficult they are to work on I switched to polaris. Polaris has the Transmission and engine separate. So it makes it easier to work on.
@@TitaniummanGarage yes is only problem with Honda but i was lucky with electric shift i had problem on one of my kids Odes and after i spend big money i do with foot manually is ok but when i find my kids stok
What intake boot do u need to make the aftermarket carb to work
Depends if is an H.o. or non H.O. carb.
I'm about to grab one off eBay rather than take mine apart. Hope I fix it. Ect. For 40$ why not. 04 predator falling on it's face when given full throttle. Tried the cdi box. To no change. Next step far as I'm aware is carb

I liked your video: down to earth unpretentious advice. But I could not find an after market carburetor with a 10 year warrantee on the ebay link you provided. Can you give me the brand name and order number with what you've had success with?
They discontinued that.
Thanks. It was too good to be true, anyway. Can you recommend a few companies who make a decent carburetor?
@@ebenjamintoane Its touch and go with these companies. I recently bought a carb from 1PZ. It has a 2 year warranty. So far so good.
Hey could you update the link to where you Is bought this carb with 10 year warranty...?
Its an old video. Its no longer available.
Hi, I bought this carb off of eBay for my 2002 Polaris Ranger 500 4x4. I installed it, and it started right up and it was running great. I drove it around out in the pasture, then took it back in the barn and there was this overwelming smell of fuel. I looked beneath and it was leaking fuel. The fuel is coming out of the drain tube on the bottom of the bowl. It does this everytime when I drive it more than 5-10 minutes. I'm not a professional mechanic by anymeans, I'm more of a Google/RUclips mechanic. Do I need to adjust the screw on the drain tube or is this something way above my head? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Unfortunately, some of the aftermarket carbs leak. I stopped using them for a while because of that. It's your needle and seat leaking. Try to get your money back or buy a needle and seat from All balls racing and replace it. I believe I have a video on that.
Hi I have 2003 polaris sportsman 500ho 4x4 I need a carb for it I can't find from that seller you mentioned in your video. Perhaps you have link to it somewhere. Thanks in advance
I think he stopped doing it. I can't find it either. Moose racing came out with a carb I've heard is good.
Mine won't idle and spitting gas out of overflow
Dorn it I clicked on your link, and they are out of stock.
How's it holding up a year later?
The link you put up doesnt work. I need one
Went out of business
