Thank you for the excellent review and comparisons. I believe I have watched every Tudor BB 36 and 41 review on RUclips but yours has been the most comprehensive considering comparisons and hands on review. I'll be purchasing the 41 mm version from the local AD tomorrow. I've considered both the 36mm and 41mm sizes but I feel that the larger size would be more appropriate for my wrist. I really do like the dial proportions of the 36.
Hopefully, you can try on both the 36 and 41 before purchasing. I'll say the 36mm wears similar to a 38mm. But if your wrist is larger than 7-7.5in, then 41mm would be better.
Really love this piece. I really wish they would have put the fabric Camo strap in the box but I guess people will buy it regardless. It’s not a dealbreaker but it was a classy pr move. Really nice photography too.
I've got the blue dial model and love it. So easy to read day or night. I've got 4 links on the 6 o'clock side and 7 on the 12 o'clock and the bend in the clasp arm doesn't stick at all. Also, they switched to Selitta SW200 in 2020.
Blue is nice too. I was surprised they didn't have one in stock. Did you buy extra links, or do you have the 41mm? I don't think mine even came with that many links in total.
@@sc1 No, it's the 36mm and I believe the AD took out 2 links when they initially fit it. One of the 7 links on the 12 o'clock side is the link with the pin for the micro adjust.
What a nice review!! I love it, especially how you compared it to OP and Explorer. I own both BB36 and 124270, and as you said, they are similar yet different. Just subscribed. You deserve many more!!
The watch bracelet has a very beautiful taper. The Snowflake hands work very well and it holds a lot of lume. The only thing I wish it had was a glide lock system.
I love the rattle of a bracelet. The first good watch was a tag Heuer night Diver in the 80's. And a man I respected very much wore a Rolex with a rattelie bracelet. For some reason that has set a benchmark ( for me) I now have nerve damage in my hands ,so a small light watch is all I can wear. I'm looking at the Tudor 39 in Tit. Thank you for the review. One of the best I have seen, but now I have a different option.
Good to hear a different perspective. I've always preferred solidity and modernity, and didn't like the hollow looseness of the older bracelets, but I can see how the rattle can provoke some nostalgia. I still have a Submariner Date 11610 purchased new from 2005 which has some rattle, but I love it for the great memories it holds for me. I thought about the Pelagos 39, but I think I will pass. Everything about it looks great, but I prefer the weight of steel, and it would look too similar to my Submariner Date anyway.
@@nekenwong I did not know that, it makes a difference I believe also the crown could be a tad larger as well as the glass table as in gshocks being 2 mm below the bezel and just one more thing if the clasp could be of the sliding type for easy adjustment, then the price tag could be justified.
It looks like the new BB Steel and Gold versions have the T-Fit clasp to make sliding adjustments on-the-go. And they also have deeper grooves on the crown, and 70 hour power reserve. These improvement haven't made it to the steel BB36 yet, but yes, probably will be incorporated in a couple years. I don't think the steel BB36 has been updated for the last 4 years.
I love that watch it's a great buy. The only thing stopping me buy one is I can't get my head round it saying self winding. It really bothers me cause it's a superb watch. Great addition to your collection.
Very interesting I think these changes will make all the difference, one thing I have always founf strange, is that with the exception of gshock watches have flush exposed glass if they kept the table 1 or 2 mm below it would help protect the glass area, al.
Awesome review. At the time the Rolex movement would have been Chrono spec and the Tudor a Sellida SW200-1, so a big difference in accuracy specs per day! Do you still have the Tudor, is it accurate? I've been trying to find out what spec Sellita Tudor fitted - Standard/Special/Premium/(Chrono) - hoping it's premium +/- 4 to 15 sec/day.
Hey SC - I’m on the fence with this Tudor…if you had your pick at retail price for these 3 watches shown here, which one would you pick? Also, I recommend the speedy…I have modern Rolex sports watches and the speedy always gets wrist time - I have a sapphire sandwich but would take hesilite no problem!
If I could have only one at retail, I would of course get the Explorer 36mm, but the problem is trying to find one. I bought the pre-owned Explorer 114270 as a substitute. If I could get the OP again, I would choose one of the new colorful dials: red, yellow, or turquoise. The Black Bay 36 adds a different kind of character - more casual.
Do you own all 3? Also the ETA/selitta is a big bonus for me. I've had enough of waiting for a OP or explorer and no longer want to play the Rolex game. I do really love Tudor so just bought this bb36
I needed to reduce my collection, so I sold the BB36. It’s a good watch, but too similar to the others. I updated to the Explorer 124270 and gifted the 114270 to my nephew. I’m trying to sell the OP36 now.
I do wear all of my watches, but some of them get more infrequent wear than others. (My Milgauss is a frequent wear, too) The collection IS starting to get out of hand now, so I'm thinking about selling my 16710 BLRO and my (!) 114270 EXP. I'm tired of the rattling bracelets, and I want to transition to an all modern, all AD collection. I can't let go of my very first two Rolexes, the 2004 DateJust and 2007 Sub Date from the AD, because of sentimental value, so I might retire them from the rotation, and put them away. I also made 2 new Rolex purchases from my AD since this video posted, very Heavy-Hitters, and those videos will be posted soon!
@@sc1 I cant wait to see the gold daytona ;) I have an older pre ceramic sub with the same bracelet as your explorer 1 but I kinda like it. Yes it doesnt feel as solid as a modern piece but its old school and very light weight. I was thinking of adding the explorer 1 to my collection. I had a 39 mm that I sold but I have similar wrist as yours and the 36 would be the perfect fit.
It's not a gold Daytona, but that's a very close guess! I can't wait to reveal the video tomorrow... I wish I could get the new Explorer 36, but it's very difficult from my AD right now.
Nice one there! i recently got the bb36 too, and felt that the manual winding (albeit smooth) has alot of resistance, and needs some effort to wind it. the reseller said its normal and the same for tudors. is that your experience too?
Really like the silver dial version but can't get myself to spend $3k for $120 ETA movement no matter what Tudor does for it. The margins on this watch must be insane.
What a clear and objective review.. I am about to buy one. But i have no idea which one 41 vs 36 habing 7.5 inches but my forearms ar not big i have on the slender side proportions and i have seen that while wearing a polo shirt or t shirt watch size matters. Congratulations very nice collection. By the way i received a Vintage Omega speedmaster 1965 Ed White is so beautiful watch and it has a nicea measure i think it's 39 or 40mm. I want the Tudor as a daily wearer.
I have 6.5 inch wrists and very small forearms, so I can only wear 36mm with short sleeves, but I feel fine wearing 40mm or even 42mm with long sleeves or jacket.
Ahh but the rolex explorer has numbers too batons no numbers perfect but then like you say that's how they all are or roll wid it ya lol ps love your reviews I'm just crazy about watches ⌚️ that's all

@ms.t6260 did you end up getting the rolex?

The watch bracelet has a very beautiful taper. The Snowflake hands work very well and it holds a lot of lume. The only thing I wish it had was a glide lock system.
I think the next version will have the T-fit clasp when they update it.
I am predicting this will be updated at watches and wonders in 2023. Along with the in-house movement.

You prefer this watch over BB 58?
after having it a while, I probably like the Bb58 slightly more than the Bb36
Personally I don’t care what brand movement it has.. you can’t see it anyway. Bottom line, if it keeps decent time ,that good enough for me.
In this case with Tudor, I didn't think the movement was a significant negative.
