are aftermarket springbars ok for Rolex? dont they have a specific tip diameter?
Very nice
MAMACOO's always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of watch 99% of people will never see.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from AMZWATCH and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for AMZWATCH watch makers
Does the book mention the 5 Rolex Submariner watches worn in space? I know Rolex HQ - Geneva is familiar with my article "Shake, Rattle & Rolex" which mentions all space-flown Rolex among these the 5 Rolex Submariner dive watches on different space shuttle missions between 1990 - 1998. Among these Submariner 5513 and 1680. Another couple of books covering great Rolex stories: A Journey Into the Deep - John Goldberger (2019) , The vintage Rolex Field Manual - chevalier edition - Colin White (2020) #MoonwatchUniverse
I did not see them mentioned. This book seems to focus on diving and deep-sea diving. But did mention Scott Carpenter was an astronaut and an aquanaut involved with Sea-Lab.
Good lookin strap 🙂
I do like honey-colour leather straps on a Sub for heavy tropical dials. The strap then marries well with the dial. If the dial is preserved in terms of black and white, then I think rubber or steel fits well. I have old 5513s from the 1960s, one with a real riveted 7206 bracelet, and another with a 7206 copy from Amazon (quite a good copy). The Amazon copy does allow "reasonable" springbars (slightly thinner), but not the better ones (a bit thicker that go deeper in the lugholes). Leather straps normally work well with the thicker and longer springbars. Security-wise, leather is also a little stealthier - oyster is more risky in case you're in public places, mass transit etc, especially with polished center links - but I never wear watches in polished or precious metal. And no Sub in public without long sleeves. These are now very special pieces, not for the beach or any water. Have cheaper sword hand Omegas for that.
5513 would be great to have for me.
@sc1 I like 1960s and subtle. No 2024 blingy pieces for me.
I think you’re suffering “Rolex fatigue” which happens to all of us after several or many Rolex different model purchases. We start trying to change the look of the watch to be able to fall in love with it again.
I would not be surprise if you enter the neo-vintage/vintage hobby rabbit hole shortly… 👍
Some of those photos of vintage Rolex look really great.
I would encourage you to try the “Rubber B strap”. It’s gapless from the bezel, so give it a try!! Because of your holes 🕳️ case I have to prefer the leather version on your Sub.
I haven't tried Rubber B yet, but it seem like it would be similar to my Everest Strap: ruclips.net/video/SxSZ6SRSEyk/видео.html
I have the 12 series, the 126619. Some will sat they can’t tell the difference but I actually prefer the 41MM and new lug-proportions.
Ref. 126619, a nice looking-watch -- only 11,464 made so far. Much less than the steel version or two-tone. I think the 11 series lugs looked too thick.
Thank you, I really like it
Thank you 🙏 for sharing
Interesting to know how many two tone Smurf dial bluesys were made I bought one in 2010 I let it go it’s one I should of kept 🤔I prefer the brown strap on the sub but both look really good
Ref. 116613 LB -- two-tone, blue dial, 2009 -- 143,264 produced. Quite a lot.
Just out of curiosity, how much does the authorized dealer charge to purchase this book? I’d love to pick up one.
They are available to purchase at book retailers. I got mine from Target. It is listed on Amazon for $88.63.
Good luck on your diet , i am on a mainly carnivore diet.alot of energy for sure. I do add in vitamins also.
Hey i just bought in may the full gold bluesy blue dial. It said in your book they only made 11k of them. Were did you get this book? Mine is 2024 may. So its the newest. I also just got the GMT Sprite from my AD last week. Should be interesting to see if they discontinue it. I wear it on my left. Its no different at all. I really like it.Just like my 50 high end guitars here we go with the watches.
Sprite looks good. I took my name off the list for this since I am happy with my white gold GMT Master-II. My book was purchased from Target, but you can also get it from amazon.com.
So basically the hulk and smurf aren’t “rare”
Hulk is not rare - 228,710 pieces made. Smurf is relatively rare - 13,630 produced over 12 years.
Ireand, no snow but cold. Just picked up a no date 124060 from AD yesterday. Nice video as always, thank you
Congratulations. Great Watch 124060.
Wow no polish or service in 19 years! What a beast. Also I don't know if I'm looking forward to the snowfall here in Canada... Good luck on the fasting and getting back in shape 💯 takes dedication to do that during the winter months
Hi! That's an awesome video! I am considering an Oysterflex, but your comments on the fit issues and comfort are giving me pause. Now that you have had it for a while, can you comment on the fit and comfort, please? My only experience with a a rubber bracelet is I had an Explorer 2 226570 on a Rubber B and I could never get the fit right and the comfort was lacking. I had the exact same issue of the rubber digging in when the bracelet was snug. So I went back to the Oyester bracelet, which I absolutely love.
Thanks, I think you can get a good fit on the Oysterflex if you can find the correct size strap pieces. And the glidelock on the new version clasp helps a lot. But I still don’t think it is as comfortable as the metal Oyster Bracelet. if it is too tight, the fins dig into the skin, and if it is too loose the Oysterflex sits away from the wrist and looks too large. it’s nice to have one Oysterflex if you have a collection, but I prefer the metal bracelet. right now I switched out my submariner to a black leather strap, so I can have that “Oysterflex look” but with more comfort of a soft leather strap. then I can switch back to the steel bracelet later.
@@sc1 hey thanks very much for the prompt reply and the details. Appreciate it very much.
Hi there. My favorite would be the 116528. I was wondering what you think a fair price for one would be these days and if you foresee that model holding its value over time. Thanks. Very informative videos I must say.
Wow what a great and perfect timed video for me to watch! I have and love my 16610 (M series) Sub but more importantly after my not so good visit to my Dr. a few days days ago I actually worked out yesterday for the first time in quite a while saying to myself “It’s Time” !! I need to shed 30-40 pounds for my healths sake and found your video Heaven sent and inspiring to me!! A beautiful video in the Snow! Being in Southern California I’d have to go to the mountains to make a video like that but again your video may inspire me to do so!!… As much as I love your video for the watch, which I own and agree wholeheartedly about it being the BEST SUB ever, our health is everything and I pray my inspiration I’m feeling at this moment sticks and I’ll be forever indebted watching this particular video!! I’ve seen your video before and will now Subscribe! ❤️
I lived in San Diego for a few years. While the weather was great, I still missed the change of seasons. I feel much better since stopping alcohol and running on the treadmill- better sleep, more energy, more time. I hope I can keep it up. Health is my most important asset.
Yes San Diego is hard to beat! I’m in Orange County but go to SD for work all the time. I spent my first 28 years in Jersey and Boston so I’ve seen enough of that stuff lol!! But again I can always go up the mountains within a couple of hours for snow….. again a wonderful video!!
Man I miss my old Leicaflex 35 mm camera!! Should have held onto that one!!
love the 36mm aswell but with the diamond baguette markers.
I think a 36mm version would look amazing. Not sure if it is possible to make it since it is quite a complicated watch.
Great video SC! I also wish they had kept the diameter at 37mm.
Definitely the most interesting & informative channel in RUclips, and I am your fan! I’ve been watching AMZWATCH and buying them recently to complement my watch collection. Good video
NASA chose the omega because Rolex asked them to get on a list. 😅
Bro, please don't take any cars to the dealership after warranty this applies to even toyotas/Hondas. Go to independent shops specific to your car
Great effort. Love the watch and channel. Im looking to buy a 2005 Rolex 16710. The year i joined the Army. I wanted to buy it at the time but life got in the way. Take care from Scotland.
Cool. Good luck.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from AMZWATCH and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
got mine last week, D serial as well with the 3185 movement. First rolex for my 30th this year.
I thought the new 12th series one you didn't have to buy the sized straps because you have like 6 stage adjustable at the bracelet clips? Or so I was told.
The glide-lock clasp is very adjustable, but the standard straps were still to large, so I needed to exchange one side for the next size down.
@@sc1 Oh really the standard is too large? I would imagine it would've been the smaller size one. Then do you have to purchase the new strap or is that covered?
@@xmixaplix I have a small wrist, so it was initially too large. My Authorized Dealer did not charge me for the smaller strap.
@@sc1 Good to know. I am planning to get the Rolex Daytona Oysterflex myself next year or so. I too have small wrist but I initially thought it would've adjusted down to a small size so good to know.
This was a really nice video, thank you. Here in the Niagara region, Canada, we are still waiting for our first snowfall.. I am also excited to welcome that change and reflect on things.
I’m surprised we got snow in Pennsylvania before Canada, and a heavy one.
The perfect watch for most… 👌
Just had our first snowfall in Orange County NY, I need to get myself back in shape too. Thank you for the inspiration and another great video😊 I have a bluesy and a no date sub both ceramic. I love them both but I will eventually add a five digit sub to my collection.
Northeast Pennsylvania here. It was a pretty snow day.
no steak & salad today 😅
You are wrecking your body even more with 1k calories a day especially if you do running (high cortisol sport).
I only run 1 mile per day. The diet may not be sustainable, but I am experimenting to get out of plateau. The elimination of alcohol and bread should help. I will add in more calories if I find myself losing muscle or snacking more.
Esthetically, or visually, the 5 digit subs obliterate the ceramic monstrosities. I always enjoy seeing someone who loves the 5 digit subs as much as I do. Kudos to you, good sir, for both the watch and fitness. This year, I’ve lost 40lbs. 20lbs to go to achieve my goal weight. As the great D. Goggins would say: STAY HARD 💪
Congratulations. The last few pounds seem to be the hardest. I'm aiming lose 5lbs of fat at the waistline. Goggins is a Maniac athlete.
@@sc1 he inspired my wife. Now she runs marathons lol, so he inspires me
Great to see your comment as well! I’m praying this video as well as your comment’s inspiration sticks as I’m determined to finally lose the 30-40 pounds I need do!
BTW… what a great word to describe the 6 digit ceramic Subs… “Monstrosities” lol ….The 5 digits fit so much better!!
I’m over 50 now. Made changes. You will loose weight rapidly with 1000 calories. I’d be concerned about mental function with so little calories. Loose skin too. Try 1800 calories with the healthy food and exercise. You’ll drop fast. and don’t get me started about alcohol. Let’s just say zero is my new number…
I'm arriving late to committing to be alcohol-free, but I might finally be on the way there.
2:06 причиной боли в спине часто бывает сквозняк, когда на горячую спину подует холодный осенний ветер. Поэтому стоит применять согревающие пояса, когда погода обещает быть снежной
Love the vid , i think that pull ups you did is the real trophy 🥇Cheers to more good health and to beautiful watches , Mr SC 👍👍👍
thanks!
i do a lot of the same things you mentioned. cut alcohol by ~97% (miss it but also alcohol free mentality), intermittent fasting (except for traveling days). carbs is the main things that gives me weight. I am in Asia for now, and enjoy the local carbs and this is the only reason why I am chubby a bit hehe. been doing intermittent fasting for about 2 years now, it really is an amazing framework. Also I did 3 day fasts every month for a year, now that makes you feel amazing. i stopped because 12 three-day fasts in a year was pushing it with marginal benefits, will go back to it for sure in the future. good luck mate.
18-hour fasting is very easy for me to do now on a daily basis, but longer than that gets difficult. My longest is 48 hours. I'm thinking about trying for 72 hours just for the mental experience. I'm in a battle with my skinny-fat genes. I'm resigned to the fact that I need to stay low carb and high protein, and I also need to build muscle. And alcohol was just holding me back.
Navy?! not only you cool with making vids, you also national hero!
Wow sounds like we’re on a similar journey. My sub is from 2004 and I’ve been wearing it on heavy rotation too. Dropped 4kg and 1.5 inches in 4 months with 15000 calories a day. Almost daily exercise with weights and cardio. Also hurt my right shoulder awhile ago and never fully healed properly. Still trying to looose another inch but seemed to have plateaued. Keep it up man and post your progress, it’s gonna encourage me. Thanks 🙏
Thanks, I periodically need to look for ways to change things up when I hit a wall. Right now, it is low calorie, high protein, no alcohol, and sleep quality. Later on, I will probably need to add some re-feeding days and change up my exercise routine. It's a challenge.
I’m also taking a break from alcohol since 2021😂
How long did it take to regain mental sharpness and energy levels and performance?
Snow yesterday in Baltimore, wore the Grand Seiko SBGP015 ❄️
That’s a bit low my friend! It’s just not sustainable. You can do the same (lose weight and decrease inflammation) with only a slight kcal deficit. Like 300-500 kcal deficit per day. More than that will lead to more muscle mass loss than you want. I also agree with cutting out the EtOH, I did a year ago and don’t plan to go back. Been sleeping better, and workouts are better!
I have a small frame and I'm not super active, so I only burn 2,000 cal/day. I'll try 1K cal/day for another 2 weeks and keep an eye on my strength level and weight. But I will probably hit another plateau and will need to add more calories eventually. How long did it take for you to regain energy and performance after quitting alcohol?
@@sc1 it was definitely becoming a bad habit for me and I was drinking craft beer several times a week. Within a month I was out of the habit and not really wanting it and I was able to see the humongous benefits. Initially I had to find something different to do with my time when I had afternoons off, which I did by going on walks and reading (two activities that aren’t great with booze). After a month I rarely thought about it anymore and was sleeping so much better I decided I was going to likely kick it forever. I’m on vacation now and while in the evening occasionally part of me feels it would be nice having a cocktail, I also really like feeling GOOD while on vacation and for me it was getting to a point where even 1-2 drinks would make me sleep like crap and the following day was much less enjoyable. Anyway, it has been a good choice for me!
Send me the solid gold Daytona. I’ll take good care of it while you’re wearing the Sub!
Always enjoy. Have had multiple snow days already but we are at Park City Utah
