Purchased 41mm anthracite few months ago and this watch is fire. Great for most occasions like office, vacation, date, tennis match. Im not a fan of polished watches but this one convinced me. The jubilee bracelet is stunning in light and the most comfortable from all watches I have. I have a bunch of cool divers but I tend to wear this when I go out. Pure class
I have the anthracite in 39mm and I wear it everyday for work and mosts nights out on weekends. I love it. The bracelet is very comfortable and the watch is beautiful, subtle, elegant and versatile.
Went into Tudor boutique to buy a bb58 but saw the non diver 41mm in blue and fell in love and left with it. Months later I still love it. Incredibly versatile and underrated piece.
I love the 36; especially the Anthracite dial. And once they become a little more readily available, I’d love to add one to my collection! It’ll go nicely with my 58 bronze, and my 54!
Bought the 39 in anthracite as my first ever luxury watch a few months ago! It actually started to get a little "boring" after having it and only it, but weirdly got a lot more appreciation for it after picking up my second luxury watch, a much more show off-y omega worldtimer and I feel like the two complement each other so well. My BB39 feels more and more like the king of fill-in-the-gaps watches and I'm still convinced I'll never sell it
Tried on the bb54, pelagos 39 and bb36 back to back. Was underwhelmed by the bb54. The pelagos was nice, but wasn't keen on what titanium looks like in the flesh + the clasp was a bit longer than on the other 2 watches. The bb36 blew me away. The sunburst blue dial waa stunning and the bracelet is beautiful and comfortable. Wears really well on a small wrist too due to the smaller lug to lug. Certainly my pick of the bunch and a step up from the previous version.
The updates are pretty nice, but I think I’m in the minority in that I still prefer the old models. I’ve owned the black dial bb36 for a year and absolutely love it. The inky black dial, oyster-style bracelet, 150m water resistance, and overall tool watch aesthetic are just awesome. Having said that, Tudor made some good updates and I’m glad they’re at least paying attention to this line. Either way, still a very underrated model that deserves more attention.
Well, I think I'm in the same minority group as you. I prefer the old design to this new one. I love the hight contrast matte black dial and the oyster-style bracelet, not a fan of the new sunburst. The new one looks like a dress watch, not a tool watch as the old one.
BB goes mainstream. The new version is a complete different watch. Other movement, sunburst dial, lollipop second hand, tiny crown, rounded DD-like case lines, different strap & clasp. It`s like the look of an original Mini and the other car of BMW. Woke up just in time and was lucky to get one of the last new previous ones yesterday. Greets to all (and ty for great videos Teddy)!
Same here! The flat black and blue dials were so good. Don’t care for the sunburst on the new models. Seems more like a Datejust now and less like a Tudor
I prefer the old black bay 36 with the ETA movement, although I sold mine and got the black bay 54 as my one watch collection now. Tudor is freaking killing it!!
Was gifted the Anthracite 36 a few months ago and I’ve bought a few “luxury” watches since then and this one is still my favorite. It’s a great every day wear and I find myself staring at it from time to time. Tudor has a fan in me.
I have the bb58 and love it. This is a nice watch with the Tudor heritage, but I lean toward the dive watch with the bezel being so functional and the watch looking so good it can be worn in any venue.
Just bought the 39mm in blue - love it! Super clean, versatile, comfy and the jubilee catches the light so well. It’s classy and dressy but not too flashy
I have a black bay 41 anthracite and absolutely love it. It has a different movement than talked about here, from the black bay bronze, MT5601. I think it’s pretty much perfect. Especially for the price point. The polish is so nice and the 5 link bracelet wears perfectly.
I was set on getting rhe 39mm blue dial but saw the anthracite in person and loved it. My wife made a comment about a vintage look then i was really sold. It's my new daily and i also wear it with a suit. In my humble opinion its overlooked.
Lovely watch but I preferred the earlier version with the non sunburst dial, plainer bracelet and ETA/Sellita movement. Going for an in-house movement just ramps up the purchase and maintenance cost and the flashier dial and bracelet move it away from the tool watch aesthetic I liked so much about the previous model
I was gifted the bb39 anthracite for my wedding last month from the new wife. Its my first luxury watch but its pure class, its understated and not too flash. Perfect for everyday wear as I've moved away from my Tag Connected watch. Looking forward to adding to my collection.
May i ask for your preference between the 36 and 39? And what is your wrist size? I haven’t tried one yet but I’ve been looking at it for some time now. Thanks
The only two things I dislike about this are the shade of blue and the in-house movement. I prefer the darker, richer blue of the previous model. As the BB36 tops my most wanted list, servicing a Tudor movement might be cost-prohibitive long term. Still, I like the upgraded clasp and bracelet!
Gave my wife the champagne 31 for anniversary and she absolutely loves it. The bracelet is killer and it is more sporty than her JLC duo face giving her a great daily option
I would call this Tudor's answer to the Omega AT. You get 95% of the AT's quality at 2/3s the price. Instead of focusing on the $500 bump; we should think that this is $1,500 less than the AT.
Best looking watch they’ve released since the 925 in my opinion. If I didn’t have an AT I’d probably buy it. Tried it on recently in blue and it felt SO premium!
This entire range is truly fantastic. I do love the previous version a little bit more with the more versatile oyster-style bracelet, smiley dial text, snowflake seconds hand, quirky crown tube and low long-term maintenance costs. I'm biased of course, as I have that previous BB36 in black and it's my go-to GADA despite other more "special" watches. Chronometer spec doesn't mean all that much as well when the previous one is well-regulated by Tudor to well within cosc and the shorter power reserve also doesn't mean that much if you either wear it very often, or only occasionally within a sizeable rotation. I do however like the magnetic resistance, the blue sunburst dial, T-fit clasp and curvier case sides of this new one. Maybe one day if they provide an oyster bracelet as an option, I might spring for this new generation. Because despite the differences in the details, this is just a fantastic range, period.
Yess, I do think that the old one is more versatile. What I like about the new one is the T fit clasp, magnetic resistance and... maybe, the new engine.
The black bay 41 is stunning. I said a few years ago, why can't I spec my Rolex OP with a decent oyster bracelet with lockable clasp probably Jubilee bracelet... Tudor have gone and done it with this BB range. Stunning
Definitely overlooked, the bb36 is perfect for those with smaller wrists and want a dressy/everyday watch. The new blue dial is stunning and bracelet is very solid. Pulled the trigger on it shortly after the release and have absolutely no regrets
They need to make these available on an oyster bracelet as well. The jubilee is too fussy-looking for a lot of people. IMO, it overshadows the watch to the point where all I see are jubilee links everywhere.
I’m looking for my first luxury watch these days, and this one is one of my top options. I too think it’s beautiful and really maximizes versatility because it can be pulled off as an everyday watch as well ad in more dressy situations
I can't read them anyhow without digging out my glasses (aged eyes), so I prefer no-date models. The rare "big date" watches are pretty pricey. I'd like to get an in-person look at something with a pointer date, like an Oris, so see if it works for me.
I preferred the previous dial but at least they have dropped the lumed square from the second hand; now if only they would get rid of the snowflake hour hand...
I own this in the blue with the diamonds and absolutely love it. I get so many compliments. Can’t stop looking at it when it’s in my wrist & COSC certified accuracy. That’s all that matters to me
Imo, Tudor needs to keep a clear distinction between its line up. They continue to add, alter, and redesign too often. Collectively I believe this deflates the value and deminishes the brand identity. Just my two cents.
I have a ranger as my daily wear. My favorite watch brand hands down. I think the black bay as a diver without the dive is only just ok. Still it's a rugged, classy not flashy watch that can worn while day-active and then out to dinner that night with a jacket and tie. Regardless, I'd prefer the dive watch
This updated BB36 is what I’m hoping to pick up. Now that the black crown tube has gone, the blue dial has a little more to it and the micro-adjust in the clasp just makes it tick every box for me. Just hope I like it when I finally try one on!
I went in last night looking for the GMT and liked this one much better. The only thing is get it with the diamond numeral markers, it really makes a difference when you have a little pop on the face due to the fact that the bezel is so plain. That's my take anyway.
I have just purchased the BB36 with the blue dial as my first step into owning a luxury watch. I love it and have been wearing it everyday, but now have a growing interest in my next watch purchase? Maybe the BB54?? Love the channel by the way and a new subscriber. 👍
This is my favorite release from Watches and Wonders (and Tudor) this year, 36mm in either blue or champagne for me. Black Bay 54 is very cool too but I’d prefer different color-ways which should be here next year.
I have the Seiko SRPE blue dial, with a jubilee bracelet after market wich has a final aspect similar to that Tudor. I love my Seiko but I have to say that this Tudor is obviously next level and so nice.
I was recently in a meeting with someone who was wearing the Black Bay and at first I thought it was a Seiko. Stick with your Seiko, it's punching way above its weight class (or, rather, the Black Bay is a bit underwhelming in person).
Funny, I’ve got the 61 (anthracite dial) on a jubilee and was just thinking that I prefer a lot of the design choices of the Seiko over the Tudor. Obviously Tudor is another level on quality, but I like the look of the Seiko. Honestly the only thing I’d change would be the new 5 logo and add a polished border on the day/date window.
It’s clear that they wanted to shift this line to be Tudor’s version of the OP (vs Explorer). I think I’m going to try one of these on at some point, but I have a feeling I’m going to be holding out for a 36mm Ranger.
I hadn’t thought of it this way, but you’re right. I have the previous version, which to me feels like the baby brother of the explorer. These don’t, these feel finer. I guess Tudor feels the Ranger is their Explorer (although I’m really not a fan).
This is my next watch that I would like to own, I have a 6.5 inch wrist and compared to an Oyster Perpetual is has just as much presence with all the feature’s I would want compared to the oyster perpetual. It’s a stunning watch.
I handled the previous model blackbay a few years ago. The changes made to the watch are almost as if it was custom made to my requests! I didnt like how the previous one had straight case/lugs, the crown, and the non factory movement. Fixed it!
0:52 Imagine replacing the round indices with bars. The 12 o'clock triangle can stay. ....Yeah, it will look awesome. Pisses me off that Tudor will never do it.
This BB 36 seems to be perfect. 4 Hz, Beautiful dial blue cobalt (for the french people) . The only problem is that there is a lot of competitor from TUDOR and from LONGINES and OMEGA. Very hard to be the first in this competition.
I tried it yesterday, blue color is beautiful, like denim...but the price. $3950, when just a few years ago I was able to get a two-toned gold dial model for 4k. After tax, this is just so expensive. But it is beautiful!
The comment you make at the end of the vid is the most apt: what are Tudor doing with the Black Bay range itself? Very confusing array of options. Then the other question - why choose this over the Ranger? Looks? Nice pieces though.
I've had mine (36mm) for about a month now. I don't know what I was thinking. I should not have purchased this watch. But, I just could not resist the champagne dial. No regrets. Could be my last watch. For real!! I love it. I can't find anything about it I don't like. It is a perfect time piece.
Hard to tell from video alone but the new blue looks similar in tone to the Seiko SPB197J1 which I love and own (but replaced the bracelet an Uncle Seiko Jubilee). In any case, I like it!
Just started collecting watches All below 75 dollars so far I got Timex weekender chrono Casio duro Casio 168 Timex expeditions Burei minimum watch( its like a chinese DW ) I think i got to many causal watches or watches of the same sort ? What should be my next watch ??
Why can they not give us a version with a polished bezel? One reason I really tend to like divers is that they don’t have a reflective mirror-like bezel staring at me.
Perfect watch for me. I 've been waiting for this changes from the older model, and finally it's here. The new bracelet and clasp, more rounded case and smaller crown, this is much more refined watch than previous model! Now just to decide between anthracite and champagne! Oh and big thank to Teddy, your videos are great!
To me ,this watch , but in 41mm,is the perfect choice for a one watch type of guy ,that wants a robust, no frills, luxury timepiece, that can be worn dressed up or down and cover all the fields. It is perfect! It is the Audi A3/A4 of watches!!!
I'm getting on a bit... and I'm done with divers so I'm drawn to these as well as field watches. I prefer the previous one over this. You are on about the thing I dislike about buying watches - hype. I'm not into that nonsense and it could stop me from buying.
Interesting, it's somehow an explorer with a submariner dial. This is 4k, explorer is 7k. Not too much difference. All a matter of taste but I still think Tudor should make the hour hands shorter on the BBs. My favourite Tudor is still the BB54.
I love the SIMPLICITY of this watch. That's key. No Bezel, no date, no GMT, no crazy colors, no BS... I love it!
exactly, the perfect watch to me.
Purchased 41mm anthracite few months ago and this watch is fire. Great for most occasions like office, vacation, date, tennis match. Im not a fan of polished watches but this one convinced me. I’m loving my Champagne in 41 too, most comfortable watch I have ever owned. A beauty that works for any occasion.
I have the anthracite in 39mm and I wear it everyday for work and mosts nights out on weekends. I love it. The bracelet is very comfortable and the watch is beautiful, subtle, elegant and versatile.
The strap is just sublime. In real life it pops 🤩
Well said, I'm thinking of getting the 36mm 😊
I got the anthracite in 36mm yesterday at the authorized dealer, and I love the look, fit, and finish of this watch.

I own the S&G version of this watch with a black dial and love it. The gold just gives it a little warmth and the T-fit clasp can’t be beat.
How does the jubilee bracelet. Feel?

I got to try out this watch in 39mm this summer and I'm now considering buying this when I graduate. It's between this and the new 38mm Aqua Terra
Agree both are great tho
I am inclined to agree with both of you, particularly the handsets of the older model... with the snowflake second hand and thicker hour hand.
Bingo
Fully agree. That is the reason I bought the earlier version today.
I like a I 70 hour power reserve. COSC certified is far superior to the ETA. What was that 45-hour power reserve? I would pay the extra $500.
If only they had it with a black dial and silver accents…like the explorer 1
Agree, gloss black dial, not sunburst, and silver accents would be absolutley perfect.
I just bought the blue version in 41mm. I’d buy black with silver accents as well. Not a fan of the anthracite.
The jubilee bracelet is a great addition, but I will miss the previous version’s amazing gloss blue dial
I love it. I'm saving up for the anthracite version right now. I can't wait to get it.
I wanted that to and walked out with a blue one 💙
I have the 41 mm version for graduation and love it every time I wear it.

The blue dial 36 or 39 on jubilee is really something.
Tried it a few weeks ago in a local AD and it has been living in my head rent free.

I tried it yesterday, blue color is beautiful, like denim...but the price. $3950, when just a few years ago I was able to get a two-toned gold dial model for 4k. After tax, this is just so expensive. But it is beautiful!
That's a beautiful dial, I like this one. Classy and sporty.
Did you hear about Walteri limited editions swiss watches, what’s your opinion? Do you recommend me to buy from them ?
The comment you make at the end of the vid is the most apt: what are Tudor doing with the Black Bay range itself? Very confusing array of options. Then the other question - why choose this over the Ranger? Looks? Nice pieces though.
I was thinking about to buy this watch, because i think it is absolutely beautiful but, is it value-preserving? Is it a good first watch?
Fantastic watch all around however, why wouldn't Tudor have added a date option? Could they add that in the next year or two?
I really dislike the “smiley” text at the 6:00 position. That’s making me second guess this watch and the Tudor 1926.
I need this with a fluted bezel!!
Great review, as always.
Just started collecting watches All below 75 dollars so far I got
Timex weekender chrono
Casio duro
Casio 168
Timex expeditions
Burei minimum watch( its like a chinese DW )
I think i got to many causal watches or watches of the same sort ?
What should be my next watch ??
Why can they not give us a version with a polished bezel? One reason I really tend to like divers is that they don’t have a reflective mirror-like bezel staring at me.
Great review of a beautiful Tudor. Wish I waited for this Black Bay 36 instead of purchasing my two Seiko SPDs.
Yeah…a Seiko is always a regret over time…two Seikos though, that’s really sad.
I'm looking for used watches. I thought Teddys store offered them but I must be missing where to find them because all I see are new ones?
Is it like the Tissot Gentleman on wrist? Bc idk if i want the 36 or the 39 version. I own the Tissot Gentleman and the size ist perfect for me.
Prefer my BB36 Blue dial (matte blue).
+/-2s per day. And the Oyster is more versatile.
would love to see a version with a date as well. they are beautiful watches as is tho
I wonder if/when the fluted bezel model will come out.
Interesting, it's somehow an explorer with a submariner dial. This is 4k, explorer is 7k. Not too much difference. All a matter of taste but I still think Tudor should make the hour hands shorter on the BBs. My favourite Tudor is still the BB54.
I love this watch, my favourite Tudor.
If they hadn't gone to the jubilee I'd probably be saving up to buy one; too blingy for an everyday wear for my tastes
the Tudor Royal (smaller size) is super underrated imo
