- The Mazda Rx7 is one of the most well balanced chassis ever built. Phenomenally light weight while retaining perfect 50/50 weight distribution. All while the Mazda Rx7 retains iconic good looks! For some, the Mazda Rx7's famous rotary engine defines it. For others, it keeps the Mazda Rx7 from being one of the most desirable cars of ALL TIME!
Luckily, there are several suitable options on the table for engine swaps into the Mazda Rx7. I have personally only ever swapped an LS engine in a Mazda Rx7. So, swapping a Honda k20 engine into this Mazda Rx7 is new territory for me! Luckily, we have a capable team here at the shop. Join in as we take this Mazda Rx7 from a ratty rolling chassis, to a dyno monster by the end of the video!!!

Killer build, definitely recommend valve springs. It will 100% float a valve with limiter bashing at that power level

changing a alternator on a 2007 civic si is a pain in the ass.... just have to straighten the motor out 🤣

670 on 30psi seems kinda off to me. I’d take it to a Honda specialist, they’d get a lot more power out of it and possibly a better tune

Wild to be pushing a bone stock cylinder head into those numbers, dropping a valve would not be ideal for that built block 😮

Fill those coolant holes in yhe block so if the head lifts it wont bleed and hydrolock

I owned an RX7 for 15 years and an RX8 for about 10 years but fixing something or modifying on the weekend got tedious.
I have an electric mini cooper SE atm, sold my 124 spider few years ago.

Car wud been so much better with a modern turbo , it was not too big for the engine it’s simply just not an efficient unit

this is awesome, but i dont understand why ecu companies like haltech refuse to make a thin, good sized, well designed display.
I'm sure a lot of RX7 purists are mad but a light weight K20 is just a better option 👍🏽
you can get 700hp from a 13bt though.
@@user-zh8xu8ty8w the K20 is way more reliable and easier to work on. the Wankel engines are known as disposable. Wankel rotary is actually really inefficient, it leaks fuel and air past the spark plugs as it spins which is why they get really horrible gas mileage and eat spot fuel out of the exhaust like crazy. they spin super smooth and sound good though...
You guys structurally chopped up that body you really expected to perform on a circuit track and the handling be perfect you crazy
Rotary engines sound so cool. It's sad they have so many reliability issues especially when boosted

That's me! Only on laptops. Trackpad efficiency. Name an application that doesn't have its "control panel" at the top. Makes navigation much quicker.
@@tim1jz it's alright (of course) - I just have never seen someone do that. As a mouse user I can't say much about trackpad. But I would argue that reaching the top of the application is more difficult in your case since the screen now doesn't end there and you have to slow down movements in order to not run into the task bar when you want to interact with your application. Still funny to see such a setup.

I am so much more a fan of the K20 than the K24. Revving to 8500 RPM on stock valvetrain is epic and it makes every gear so much longer.

I’d be pissed if all power it made was that with built engine. My k20 in my si with stock block an some head work makes 550. Something seems off.
The built engine doesn’t add power directly. It just allows power to be made more reliably.

Maybe it’s a suboptimal setup, or maybe they weren’t chasing numbers but rather a torque curve they thought would be more fun.

Did you forget the part where the motor is rated as 800whp, you gotta be new to the scene man not everything’s about power. Also did you miss the part where they said the head is bone stock? Bottom end can handle the hp, top end cannot.
