+PsYch-Roxx Well the original game was way tougher, slower, more complex and rewared hardcore players instead of the casual shitshow it's turned into. It's how World of Warcraft was mostly supposed to be before they started hand holding and the such. I remember being amazed by lvl 60s with full nax gear just by the amount of dedication and strategizing it took to do so. Now any guild of mouth-breathers with 2 arms can clear the whole game in not that much time. This is just a random example, the essence is there wasn't much, if any, hand-holding which translated into an actual sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that the game has been trying to recapture ever since.
***** No, but believe or not there's some people with 1 or no arms so obviously for them it would be difficult to clear any instance. In vanilla you'd have to work pretty hard just to get to raids, and even more time, planning and preparation to clear any of them while right now anyone that doesn't have a serious disability can clear it in a month or 2. That was my point but you seem to have missed it entirely.
My girlfriend wanted me to introduce her to World of Warcraft, and I thought Vanilla would be the best way to do it. She fell in love with Azeroth. We spent long nights and early mornings at my house fighting the Defias Brotherhood in Elwynn Forest and Westfall. I made her scream at the spider "nope" pit at Alther Mill, I tricked her into thinking the Blackrock Orcs were Horde players and we were fighting real people until she found out, and we ran from Stitches as he charged towards Darkshire one-hitting every low-level scrub like us he saw along the way. When the word got out about Nostalrius being shut down, we cried together for hours. Azeroth, the REAL Azeroth, was our home. Our characters were us, living free and fighting evil. Her last wish was that our characters would be laid to rest in Darnassus, under the roof of a house in the Craftsmans' Terrace, where they would be together for the rest of time. RIP Maysteele the Paladin and Hanat the Warlock
+Simon Guarantee there is no other version besides maybe tbc that will give you that same feeling of immersion. Sorry that blizz obliterated your good times.
I found myself in the video! 2:36 I am trying to jump across the stones in the back. I am the Female Troll Hunter with the White Lion (Echeyakee)! :D At 3:08 you can see that I made it!
The Truth cant be hidden X Already signed it. I would do it again if I could. Where did you get the information that a former blizzard leader would help? EDIT: Nvm, I saw it.
Glorious. I have only ever played WoW for a few days at most but I know the feeling of losing your online home all too well. My condolences to all who lost so much here.
"This is not the end. This is not even the beginning of the end. This is, perhaps, the end of the beginning" I played there over a year. It will forever be where I called home R.I.P. NOSTALRIUS - NEVER FORGET
Ravnican127 this single Vanilla server had 150,000 active players, yes. It was in no way 'killing' live client WoW, however. Was it impressive? Certainly, yes... but they had no cap on how many players were going to be on one server. WoW has capped server populations to make sure each server has a decent enough population to operate. They're not funneling their entire player base into one.
+Dave Ryerson Except this is Blizzard stripping fans of their ability to play Vanilla Warcraft. Basically saying you "HAVE TO" play crapcraft. Sad day.
ChestOfDoom We can play that card. We can also play the card that it's a server that isn't used by Blizzard anymore with a version of the game they no longer make available. Since this isn't taking away their sales, I don't see why it should be a problem. Blizzard may be losing business but it isn't because of fan servers but rather business practices. BUT that's an opinion. I'm not a lawyer. And don't pretend to be. I can express my disdain over their actions and still recognize the legal ramifications on all parties involved.
ChestOfDoom One more point. WoW is a horrible game anyway and I've never cared. I gave it a go and it's bland to begin with. If they want to tank whatever popularity they have with whatever fans are left, that's their business. I really don't care. I don't play it anymore and they can do what they want.
I never played WoW, but I think we all understand what it's like to have something you love come to an end... my condolences to the WoW Nostalrius players.
Although I never played on this server, have no friends playing on it, nor did I ever hear of it before, I still say: Good luck to everyone that was on it, I hope you all have fond memories. I know the feeling of a great server being shut down and can only hope that some day there will be no need anymore for a server to be shut down because blizzard feels butthurt.
I never played WoW, but I feel sad for all of you who used to play on Nostalrius. You got my vote on the petition. Blizzard is becoming just like one of these companies like EA or Ubisoft that makes stuff for money.
I canceled my wow sub because of this. I never played vanilla or on Nost or any other private server. Let the people have their vanilla servers. Those people will never sub to current wow anyway, especially not now. Then there are people like me, who KINDA like current wow, and have subbed for a long time, see stuff like this happen and unsub to support those poor people who want access to a Vanilla server. AND BTW as a player who has never played Vanilla, I would love to have a chance to experience the game as it was at its peak.
+EpochDeus Good on you. And I can confirm that Vanilla 60 WoW was amazing. It's personally my favorite game of all time. Gamers that didn't experience it missed out on a magical experience.
Zero respect for the game, and the people that immortalize their beginnings. Thank you to the devs of Nostalrius. I hope everyone boycotts everything Blizzard produces. This is petty, at best. An absolute slap in the face to anyone who used to love their games, at worst.
+Juanillo★Elite That was a piano rendition of "Con Te Partiro". Italian for "With you I leave". I believe they redid the song with English lyrics and renamed it "Con Te Partiro, Time to say good bye"

+Simon That's pretty heavy. Would love to have played with people as passionate as you guys.
Is the spider "NOPE" pit a Venturiantale reference coz in A Skyrim Tale he called spiders NOPES and the deer in the Forgotten Vale Nopealopes.
you don't have a gf gurls don't exist
+Simon Guarantee there is no other version besides maybe tbc that will give you that same feeling of immersion. Sorry that blizz obliterated your good times.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force...As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
I never played WoW but watching these Nostalrius videos reminds me of the days when community in gaming actually mattered and was treasured. RIP,

You are a hero for posting this video, we will be reborn.
More people on a Vanilla server than there is on the most populated Live WoW servers.
+kooken58 incorrect. There were 150,000 active players on it at a time. WoW still has over 6 million subscribers.
+joeslappy LOL 6mil this guy says.
+kooken58 guys please all sign for nostralius petition. former blizzard leader will help us if it reaches 200k, we are 170k atm
+joeslappy 6 million across how many servers? yeah do the math and get back to us. This SINGLE vanilla server was killing it.

This big of a farewell not not even happen on live servers. Sad to see such a great project to under!
+KrissPiggie why would a farewell happen on the live servers? nobody's gonna congregate and cry over weekly maintenance downtime lol
+Dave Ryerson Except this is Blizzard stripping fans of their ability to play Vanilla Warcraft. Basically saying you "HAVE TO" play crapcraft. Sad day.
+Cosmic Fantasies its blizzard removing an illegal server

In light of all that has happened I would like to take the time and ask the name of the song.

This just means, when our world is ending, all the people in the world will finally get together and have world peace, at the very last minute
alliance and horde together in the end
meanwhile in LEGION..... more "garrison command tables."
+borsk hey, at least in Legion we can go do those Command Table quests ourselves.
Lovely video. It really was difficult saying goodbye.
I don't play private servers but I truly shed a tear watching this.
I wish I could have been a part of it. Are there any other vanilla servers?
There are more players here than on live servers, they had to be mad
+Moi Moimême You don't actually believe this, do you? x)
+Mad Dan (“Daniel”) Obviously not, numbers don't lie. That was a free bash toward Blizzard
Ah, okay, Carry on then.
+Mad Dan (“Daniel”) Hi

Scourge necropolis over Orgrimmar? Though this was a Vanilla server not a Wrath server.
Alliance had equal crowds in Ironforge - It was pretty amazing to see.
If I played nostalrius and I was there to witness the end I would have balled my eyes out
I wish i could have been part if an amazing community like y'all. RIP and #fuckBlizzard
Desconectado del servidor, directo al kokoro :( ggwp ppl, wp.

HEY GUYS MY NAME IS BLIZZARD AND THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE SUBSCRIBERS.
+FrodoTEST Would people who paid for subscriptions really being playing on a free server though?
+FrodoTEST They will LITERALLY gain subs if people on Nostalrius really want to play wow. Otherwise they lost nothing, except competition.

I wish I knew about this server before all this, because I would definitely have tried it.

Sad thing is, I can't even remember when I saw this much people in one area on the few official b.net servers I played on.
+Wulfkin yes because it never happened. retail servers maxxed at 2500 players during vanilla. nostalrius peaked at 18000
+Wulfkin I said the same thing
a moment of silence please
I've never played WoW but this made me sad. I Feel bad for all the people losing something they love so much...
It would have been so funny if the Alliance came up from Razor Hill to rush the Horde one last time!
You Think you do but you don't
Even if retail was capable of amassing this kind of population it would just phase everyone out so it would look like you're playing alone anyways.
Why is it been closed?
I suppose blizzard thought that it was stealing sales from them so they threatened to sue
blizzard has sadly gone downhill
I'm crying, and I didn't even cry when my father was hung for stealing a pig
wait ... what
+Sm1l3k1ll3r yes what?
I never played wow before but watching kinda reminds me of my first ever guild that I joined in a MMORPG game. i can play Conte Partiro on piano, And next time when I will play that song ?I`ll say what this song have name "Last song of Nostalrius!!

"You think you do but you don't". All those people think they like vanilla but they don't.. obviously.
WoW has improved in many many ways since Vanilla, but if I'd known this server existed, I'd have gone there just to see old Orgrimmar again. I miss the dogs barking and Gammon getting beat up. I'm crying
Wow that was epic
:( why blizz
I never played on Nostalrius, but watching this is heartbreaking.
I feel you guys. I know what it means.
My heart goes out to all the players of Nostalrius. I hope Blizzard pays for it big time.
Blizz will pay for this action.
So gutted..... that shit was epic.
The Ironforge one was bad, but this is worse since I am Horde. Blizz was wrong to do this. Its really BAD business to antagonize your customers. Respect to Nostalrius and its community.

Perhaps now some will get a life, move on, marry an Elf, have mutant kids, grow old and die together. Perhaps...
Fuck man, I preordered Overwatch the day before the news broke loose about Blizzard shutting Nostalrius down. I regret giving them any money at all.
***** If I refund will it give me Blizzard points or some shit or will it go back into my bank account?
***** Ok, thanks man. Also what did you say for your refund explanation? I don't want them to deny me a refund.
Overwatch is the ONLY good thing Blizzard have made since WoW came out.
Zac Ross I'm still not giving them any money for it.:D
