This is way faster than the classes I've taken at the gym. The instructors there always say "slow and controlled" and to focus on our form. There is no time to focus on form with this video. That being said, it's a great workout, and I'm glad the poster below gave info on how to slow it down!
I fell in love with these routines years ago, they got me into barre! I need to go back to them, because they're still so good. Super challenging, with very little fuss or attempts at being fancy.
A great workout for people who want to feel the ache for a week! I couldn't make it beyond the lower legs (barely got into the plies in second :O) but I plan on progressing myself through. A lot of barre videos seem to be aimed at beginners and cater to them, but as someone with a background in dance who wants a video that challenges as well as refreshes old muscle memory this is perfect :)
Shauna Kathleen I love all the videos. I guess some don't realize that the pace in a studio is that fast. In my gym class it is fast but not as fast just because of the size of the class and we don't have the same props or weighted balls etc, to work with. I'm assuming this is to be a cardio workout too b/c I'm in sweaty beast mode after I'm finished with your video. I don't go to a class unless I can come out sweating my butt off literally. Keep it up. Fabulous work
LOVE this video and workout! The simple lay out of one person to follow the clear sound of reps, really effective am so glad I found! Thank you, and for those of you who thought it was too fast, feel free to pause the video and go at your own pace!
Hi Shauna. I know you made this video a few years ago, but I wanted to tell you that your body shape is absolutely beautiful! I have tried so many different workouts throughout my life (I am naturally very muscular and I am 5'1") and they always made me put on more muscle mass than I would like due to my genetics. Then about 4 years ago I found yoga and pilates. Love the results! Strong and lean. Now I have found barre and eventhough I have never taken ballet, I really like the physique most ballerinas have. Then I found this video! Wow it is awesome and I have no doubt that results will be starting to show immediately with all that burn...burn..BURN!! I like seeing that it was tough for you as well and it shows no matter how advanced you are with doing these exercises, they still give you a challenge! No wonder you have over a million views. This workout is awesome and it's FREE. This is something people pay lots of money for in barre classes. Thank you so much for making it available for us who feel more comfortable doing this in the privacy of our homes. And BTW, the tempo is just fine for me. I don't know if people realise pulses are small, quick movements so your 100 count is going to be fast, as it should be. Take care.💪💗
Love this video! I have been doing it in the kitchen while I cook dinner for my kids:-) My legs are killing me (in a good way) and my core is feeling strong! thank you!
Only adding my opinion due to all the negativity. This is awesome. I was fishing for workouts while getting a little mindless cardio in. I can tolerate beginner workouts once or twice before I have to move on because they waste so much time explaining moves and talking. This is something I can do many times and watch my improvement over time. First I may only get through 5 reps before you move to the next but it's the same as if I were to take a live class. 2 time i might get to 6 or 7 reps. I can repeat this multiple times, add my own music and just focus on me.
My body hurts all over! LOVED this, and yes, I thought it was a bit fast at first, but now that I've done this video a few times, I like the pace because I know what to expect and love getting right into it!!

I love all the "experts" on the internet! ; ) This is not a heavy weight training video - the rep speed is brisk bc the weights are light. The squats are deep bc it is barre. Start with very light weight & the range of motion that you can do & progress. Perhaps it should just be labelled as NOT for beginners. Being a fellow fitness instructor, I appreciate this video! THANKS!
Thank you so much for this video. The abs part is *killer*. I have been doing it consistently for three weeks, and I have new tummy muscles that are popping out!
Such a killer workout!! Loved the pace as it adds cardio that gets u sweating buckets!! Love love love ! One of my faves! I use tae bo and barre workouts in my fitness routines always !! Thank u !!
Absolutely my favorite full body workout. I found this video maybe 3 years ago and still doing it to this day, whether its the whole thing or parts of it, bc I love the arm workout and abs workout as a supplement to other workouts I do on some days. love it!
This is great, thank you! I have been wanting to take a barre class and this was a wonderful workout. I built up a sweat and certainly toned some muscles. This was intense!
I love it,very good for morning exercise ,good coordinated for all big group of muscles, give me sweat and feeling of well done job, please continue to create a more,I am looking forward for new one with next level of difficulty, thank you.
Thanks for the workout! I got a great sweat! I just wish I could tell where your weight is when you're facing the barre--sitting back or right over your legs. Thanks again!
Great work out! I will do this regularly to get stronger. I am a runner and this is a nice compliment to running and my gym routine. Thank you so much, Shauna.
Such a great workout! I recently moved and don't have an affordable dedicated barre studio here.. This was exactly what I was looking for. Subscribed and can't wait until you launch the 6 week series!
I agree with the rest that this is a tad too fast and might cause us to forget good form. HOWEVER! If you need the pace to be slower, go to the video setting at bottom right of the screen and click SPEED then select 0.5 to slow things down.
WOW!! This workout kicks ass!! It's hard , but I kept up with it until the last set of floor. I will do it the next time. I even lifted up my heels for a few set of the plies 100 too!
I really wanted to love this video - the rigor and no-nonsense approach is great. But as people have said, it's just too fast. It's not just the transitions - the pacing of the reps is unreasonably fast, so much so that I imagine it ups the risk from injury caused by bad form. Form is so important in barre work, and this doesn't strike the right balance between being fast-paced and tough and allowing even experienced athletes to maintain a proper form as they complete the exercises.
thank you so much for this video C: apart from being a challenge and a guide to excercise lower body (for me specially legs), my knee stopped that annoying cracking when I stretched my leg.
WOW! This really kicked my butt! Thank you so much for sharing this workout! I just recently had a baby and am on the road to pre-baby body! I just subscribed to your channel and am so looking forward to trying more of your workouts! You're awesome!!
I love your videos. The speed is intense but this is how it is in an actual Barre class. Keep up the great work!! I do 4 of your videos every Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri xo
i loved this workout. this is not for beginners!! the 100 squats were verrrrrry challenging. i guess if u do this 2-3 more times it will get easier.. but it was a great workout
Love the workout though I would recommend inserting breaks in between the sections for future videos like this. I kept having to stop and go back due to not having transition or water time. Awesome workout though!
The pace was a little fast for me in the video itself, so I ended up just referencing it for technique, but going off of the write-up you posted with it. Really hard, awesome workout! I will be using this pretty much exclusively for a while, working my way up to all the reps and perfecting my form. Thanks for posting it!
Yes, it's quite fast paced. You have the right attitude though working your way up. That's the way to do it! Make sure you check out my other barre workouts too.
This is way faster than the classes I've taken at the gym. The instructors there always say "slow and controlled" and to focus on our form. There is no time to focus on form with this video. That being said, it's a great workout, and I'm glad the poster below gave info on how to slow it down!

This lady is no joke, I wish you had more videos like this one on your channel!
Again, another kick ass video . My teacher is taking notes from your videos. Keep em coming
margaret powell Awesome! I am working on a certification program so stay tuned for that information too! :)

Shauna! I've been using this workout for almost 6 years now. Still my favorite & always helps me get back on my feet. Thank you

I really liked this. Not only is it a toning a sculpting workout, but I would also say cardio as the fast reps definitely got my heart rate up.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. And yes, most of my workouts have that little cardio kick. ;)
Perfect tempo. Nothing is more grueling than lifting weights slowly. Love your INTRO!! Just boom right into it.
Love this video! I have been doing it in the kitchen while I cook dinner for my kids:-) My legs are killing me (in a good way) and my core is feeling strong! thank you!

This was awesome!! I have been doing Pure Barre for over a year and a half-this workout kicked my butt! Thanks for posting!!!
I LOVE your video! I've been trying to find a decent barre workout on youtube for months! Yours is the best I've found. Thank you!!!
Absolutely my favorite full body workout. I found this video maybe 3 years ago and still doing it to this day, whether its the whole thing or parts of it, bc I love the arm workout and abs workout as a supplement to other workouts I do on some days. love it!
you are a MACHINE. i'm super impressed with how strong and toned you are.
This is great, thank you! I have been wanting to take a barre class and this was a wonderful workout. I built up a sweat and certainly toned some muscles. This was intense!
Very impressive routine you put together. Designed to work Core area and loved the Ballet incorporated into your workout.
I know this feed hasn't been updated in a while, but I have to say that as a dancer, I love it! THANKS!
I love it,very good for morning exercise ,good coordinated for all big group of muscles, give me sweat and feeling of well done job, please continue to create a more,I am looking forward for new one with next level of difficulty, thank you.

Great work out! I will do this regularly to get stronger. I am a runner and this is a nice compliment to running and my gym routine. Thank you so much, Shauna.
best barre workout I have found for days I can't make it to the gym or studio.
Thank you so much for this workout! I spend every other day with you! My body is changing!!
Do u do this same workout every other day or different ones please ?
+John Hanslick :) Love that!!
Love this workout! is hard to find videos online that really challenge you! I workout regularly and this is exactly what I was looking for
Such a great workout! I recently moved and don't have an affordable dedicated barre studio here.. This was exactly what I was looking for. Subscribed and can't wait until you launch the 6 week series!
Elizabeth Locker Thanks!! I am writing, writing writing this week!! :)
I agree that this video is super fast. It's a huge challenge and I have incorporated it in my workout routine!
I agree with the rest that this is a tad too fast and might cause us to forget good form. HOWEVER! If you need the pace to be slower, go to the video setting at bottom right of the screen and click SPEED then select 0.5 to slow things down.
Great advice!!!
You should see a gear/wheel icon next to the "full screen enlargement" icon. That's the setting option in which you can select speed.
Lydia P. Thank goodness you figured this out because the speed is ridiculous. Certainly would have injured something sooner or later.
+Lydia P. That's what I did! I slowed the speed to 0.5. Thanks for the tip!
Problem with slowing to 0.50 is that she sound like drunk lol .I will try at .75
Just surfing for workout videos and ran into to this. Hats off to those of you who can do this. Yeesh!
WOW!! This workout kicks ass!! It's hard , but I kept up with it until the last set of floor. I will do it the next time. I even lifted up my heels for a few set of the plies 100 too!
AMAZING!!..one of the best (and toughest ) online classes I've ever done. Thank you so much. :)

apart from being a challenge and a guide to excercise lower body (for me specially legs), my knee stopped that annoying cracking when I stretched my leg.
I started at .5 on the speed (thanks for letting me know I could change it!) but finally landed at .75 as the perfect speed for me. Nice workout.
