Great tutorial, thank you for this. Going to do this to my 98 EX coupe. Just wanted to say, for anyone else trying this, try to make sure your adhesive is flame resistant. The OE one usually is, and I've heard tell that lots of spray adhesives - including some of 3M's popular offerings - are *super* flammable. Small fire in the car can quickly set your whole roof on fire if the adhesive isn't flame resistant.
Need to pull the headliner forward towards the windshield first until it completely comes off. This will avoid damaging pulling it back first. Great video!
A couple things here: 1. Get a wire cup wheel on a drill or right angle grinder to make quick work of the foam on the headboard. 2. You can pick up some sun visors cheap at a salvage yard if you can find some in good shape.
2 things i learned from doing this: 1- when removing the old foam, i realized u can peel the very top layer of the board material and just peel all the foam off with it and there is still plenty of board left, i took some 600 grit to remove a few little burrs from the peeling, way quicker than scraping and scrubbing it off 2- any little tears/ little imperfections that would show through the foam, i applied a little gorilla glue then sanded it flush when it dried
I just finished my wife's minivan 9 feet long had to use 4 yards for the Grand Caravan. You are right about the stickiness. Instructions said to wait 5 minutes to get tacky so I messed with my dog and the wind blew my material over and it stuck to itself permanently. Had to reorder more material. I used a soldering iron to cut out the holes.
Awesome vid man, as always! Super thorough, this is def going to help me when I remove my headliner on my EM1. Your headliner now looks brand new again, well done my friend, well done 🙌💪👊
I see you're doing this too. My hatchback headliner cardboard is broken I think in some spots and I think the cardboard is also sagging😅 I wonder if I can tape it up or reshape it in addition to replacing the old headliner fabric
what’s the best way you found to take the A pillar trim off? i got a 98 civic sedan that i’ve been meaning to put fabric on those pillar trims but don’t want to break the plastic because it’s in awesome shape
Nice, I did the same to my ej8 a year ago, found out the Hobby Lobby closest to my house has headliner material in stock. My project cost a little more because I bought too much adhesive, but still well worth it.
Is it similar on a sedan? My headliner is real bad and I am likely gonna take it out and end up getting a shop to cut me out a new one, but I don't know if that's doable. What are these made of usually?
I just bought a ej9 with a d16z6 swap in it. Owner said he rebuild the engine 2k miles before: new rings and "new rod bearings, because they had some little scraches" and I drive it home less than 200 miles and it starts rod knocking I think, the sound comes from the oil pan and when I am under the car and listen I fell my heart being mushed. Any thoughts? Is it that bad to gen the crank redone and use bigger bearings? I plan to build it for 400 hp but I wanted to learn the car at this power lever. Thanks in advance
So it’s been exactly 5 months since you uploaded this videos. Good job man. How has this been holding up with the prep and that adhesive? I just bought a ‘98 4dr civic Ex and the whole headliner was sagging so I peeled it off as much as possible. Must redo!
Thank you very much and for following along! Yes, happy to say holding up great! I’ll have to do an update video. The big thing with the adhesive I found is you have to use a lot. don’t be shy with it and it’ll hold! good luck doing your new to you car headliner!
Crap always when I watch these vids they remove those panels so easy. Mine is al covered with extra steips alongside the tdoor trim. Plus my seatbelts are adjustable, no cap there to remove like he did. I only need to check my tail antenna for a leak. I need to take out the complete hood interior for that, everything is overlapping and those back pillar covers are screwed to the frame and those are covered by the lower hood interior.... 😭😭😭
I remember doing this with my brothers friends eg hatch we had the same cardboard problem. What we did to the foam was the same as ur method combined with just peeling it like a mango. 😅
Yo, American civics have a coat hooks in the bag? Nice xD Also awesome video! I don't want to miss you workin', on the daily, then home office is over.
Too bad I threw the whole thing out. But then again maybe I should just continue removing stuff for all of the weight reduction(even if I'm not adding any power adders yet, sure will be nice increasing highway mileage, even if by a gal per)

You have a cool personality and some cool teaching skills.
I would love to know where did you buy the roof liner ❤ and the restoration kit for the carpet..

looks good so far!!! cant wait for the next episode with mint interior
I was hoping to see it finished...but thanks for sharing what you did share..
Interior is gonna be on point after this 😤
Dude! That looks so good. Ready to see the finished unit!
Huge improvement. It's going to look so good once installed. Thanks for the confidence, gonna tackle it myself now for sure.
That’s great man! Send me some pictures on our Instagram if you end up doing yours!

Came out super good. How many cans of glue do you use?
Can you put a source for buying link for the headliner material with foam so we can buy similar to yours? Thanks!
I liked the way the glue you used has a nice wide spray. Definitely makes the job easier. Good job 👍

Thanks man, I’m happy with how it came out. Send me some pics if you end up doing yours!
Hey great Video!
Did that crease work it's self out? Or should we apply some tension to the fabric when laying it down?
I see you're doing this too. My hatchback headliner cardboard is broken I think in some spots and I think the cardboard is also sagging😅 I wonder if I can tape it up or reshape it in addition to replacing the old headliner fabric
Can you please say where the new fabric is from ty.
I had lost your channel and I found u again ! Thank for the help !
Oh no! I wonder what happened. Glad to have you back!
That spray looks super handy, sprays a s nice wide pattern. Does it have a special tip orso?
what’s the best way you found to take the A pillar trim off? i got a 98 civic sedan that i’ve been meaning to put fabric on those pillar trims but don’t want to break the plastic because it’s in awesome shape
What company or website is good to purchase these from?
You are a legend! Lots of hard work! Im planning do this for my civic 2001 ! Lets see how it goes
Doing it for my 93 EG too, good luck
How did it go?
Great tutorial Thank you so much im going to try and do this to my 2000 Honda civic.
Is there a video showing the carpet removal?
I think i would have putten some de adhesive to make that repair on the headliner. Was that simple paper tape?
Thanks for the video I’m about to do this same process on my civic and it’s nice to have a fast but detailed tutorial to follow along with
Awesome! Good luck to you. It's work but its worth it

Absolutely worth it, no matter spending a little more. You have a nice new headliner and not one that’s all torn and gross looking so good job!
Kick a$$! Im gonna do my Ex soon.Where did you get the material?
Lovin' this series bro!
I sure appreciate that Frank! Thanks for stickin with me on it
Thank you man made me learn a lot I need to go try this on my EM2 it desperately needs it
Do you know if you can pull it out of the truck I don't have a hatchback
Is it similar on a sedan? My headliner is real bad and I am likely gonna take it out and end up getting a shop to cut me out a new one, but I don't know if that's doable. What are these made of usually?
Nice video! Please let me know where you bought the headliner? Mine is sagging and coming apart as well.
Thank you! Just google headliner replacement along with your car and there’s a ton of options out there
Great idea on using a grill brush!!I’ll be doing the same for sure. Can’t wait to see it all put back together 👍
Lol that grill brushed worked out pretty good didn’t it! Next weeks ep everything goes back together. Its a good one!
Awesome looks new...good call on the lighter color

Thanks for the great video! Do you have a link for the fabric supplier?
I don’t remember specifically where I got it from. There’s quite a few places online though and they all looked similar
Did you end up finding the fabric supplier?
Dude thanks for all your hard work!
The best thing to use to take the old foam off is a dry dish sponge.
Where did u get the fabric from
Okay that didn't show anything how'd you get the exact curves on their how'd you get the rounded areas do like an 01 Honda Civic
Great video and well explained tips!
Quality video man👍🏻
How much headliner would I use?
do math, find the area of ur head liner, l x w=A
Nice and easy tutorial!
Thank you .... this vid has been helpful
Guys there is no need to scrape anything, the foam layer is an adhesive tape layers that peels right off.
Do you have to take off the foam??
You don't have to if yours looks good I guess. Most of the new materials come with foam though so depends on what you want
So it’s been exactly 5 months since you uploaded this videos. Good job man. How has this been holding up with the prep and that adhesive?

Thats looking solid 👍🏻
How do you remove the 2 circle clips
Super nice hatchback!!!!👍
Lookin good Rob!

Where can I find this fabric?
There’s a bunch of options, just google or amazon your year and model of car along with headliner replacement fabric
Yo, American civics have a coat hooks in the bag? Nice xD
Also awesome video! I don't want to miss you workin', on the daily, then home office is over.
Nothing like getting rained on while working on a project lol Florida
junkyard. matching headrests to your front seats. custom bracket/weld install in rear seats. ;)
Well done bro
I threw away the headliner board for my ek hatch after noticing there was mold on it from the hatch leaking. One of my biggest regrets honestly
Oh really? I don’t blame you though if you found mold. I’m sure you could find another one at a local junkyard
Yo.... that really came out good, can't wait to see it all back in the ek. That's gonna look perfect 👍 great job
Thanks a lot! in next weeks episode it all goes back together. it’s a good one!
Thank you
I have a 4 door sedan i assume its gonna be hard asf
Too bad I threw the whole thing out. But then again maybe I should just continue removing stuff for all of the weight reduction(even if I'm not adding any power adders yet, sure will be nice increasing highway mileage, even if by a gal per)
Its not dust its the old foam deterring
I just redid mind for the 10 time every Honda I get I do it to um
cleaner yeah
❤
How do you have black interior lmao
If it was a customers you did it wrong because you can’t install with the trims without damaging or creasing the headliner
Not such a nice day I guess lol
Great content
