Miss my EP3, great cars (barring the fragile paint!) appreciating asset now days and this one looks in very good nick underneath unlike some that have been got by the rust. Nice to see the OEM coloured cover going on and some new matching Bridgestones which are what they came from the factory with :-) I was guilty of modifying mine over the years but now its nice to see a factory fresh looking one. I have to say.. All of the players in this car did a fantastic job -including you Jon.... Those Fresh Layers Guys have a nasty habit of turning out 1st class Work like this, and the Red Merc 190 which was featured some time back, on this channel...Brilliant stuff!
I'm just curious, why not take the wing off to repaint it? They go to all the hassle of masking off the ENTIRE car but didn't just undo a few bolts and remove the wing..? Removing the wing could have avoided a paint lip on the inside too. No?
I had one of these from 2004 to 2020. Great car and tons of memories, but Nighthawk Black is the softest paint you can imagine. I did a lot of full paint corrections and tried all the coatings, but always the following week all swirls were back!

What I like about this (and your other videos) is the lack of BS, in particular the summary where you mention some defects remain. That's often glossed (sorry) over on youtube detailing videos. Quite like the mid-rise lift.... luxury.
yer bumper bonnet roof need painting full of deep defects and corrosion pickling. I could film it and show but you just get idiots saying its a bad job etc.. but we dont want to give the impression we perfect this car because it cannot be perfected without refinishing work.
I'd imagine the detail final cost was more than the car was worth, but hell, you don't own and care for cars thinking you will get your money back. Absolutely fantastic result, well done guys.
To be be fair these cars have gone up in value and one like this is probably worth about 6/ 7k as it's done about 80k from new, the work done on the car was probably about £1500 including the paint and wheels
Lads I dropped my car outside your house, the key is under the wheelie bin,do a good job 😜😂😂😂. That was a great watch as the hangover was healing 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
As much as i like this format. I love your original way. Quite a few detailers now doing the chilled music back ground asmr details. I do like it though
fair play although this isnt an ASMR style. the detailing sound is removed, I know what you mean though there a ton of those out there. this is the original way we shot our first one many years ago before these types of videos became a thing. now its become a farce. saw one the other day they had to shovel out the dirt out the interior prior to full interior jet wash :)
@ yeah not asmr, got my words wrong but the chill music and relaxing detailing vid thing. Please don’t get me wrong it works and it is good but your identity (to me anyway) is the educational side of things with is what I personally love about you. As well as your ability to be yourself on camera. This is very cool but mate. Your knowledge and way of explaining things is my personal fave.
I own one that i've done the wqrks on and was my second round on cars I'd polished at the time so I'm pretty well versed and have done a couple of others since. The paint is so finnicky Im yet to find a one stage compound and pad combo (I've tried so many!) on a multitude of machines from cheap to expensive, that will do it to a decent finish. Most paint is wrecked on these in my experience but this looks great now it's all done. I guess a three stage is where its at, it's the finishing stage I struggle with getting it to remove the haze and pop. Great and enjoyable learning curve though and once i find a two stage combo (i do them for fun not money so time is a thing) i can then perfect it in the least stages possible through technique, pressure and speed.
Yer paint was a bit soft and sticky. A bit like the supra the horizontal panels need repainting but looks a lot better now at least and can be enjoyed.
Car looks great seats came out looking new 👍 however that new cam cover has 2 hose adaptors retro fitted to it so will have to blank them off or ideally get an oem unmodified cam cover to fit
these EP3's make me feel old. I remember them being released and everyone being divided on the gearstick location. I owned one when they hit rock bottom, now the best ones are selling for more than they did when they were new. As much as I enjoyed mine, it was £3,300. There are better cars for what these are going for now. They lack torque unless your revving them to death which means when you want the power you have to change down a gear or sometimes two gears. By the time youve done that whatever you were trying to get the jump on has long gone. I found a mk7 Fiesta ST with the turbo engine was much better as the power was spread out more to where it was useable. Current M140i another level. How hot hatches have changed :) Great detail and correction BTW.
they feel quite zipping and ready to pull but yes then after that you notice the torque isnt strong compared to what the engine sounds like its doing but thats kind of cool. I really like the gear change on them, I like the steering feel and the flat feeling of the chassis. stock brakes seem decent. great cars mate considering as well they are kind of old modern classic era.
we used a debobbler tool. If you put them in amazon for example "jumper debobbler" you will fine them they have a flat metal plat with round holes in them.
@@martin1649u should leave the paint for a few months I’ve been told if im honest because the paint releases gases over a period of time when its freshly painted so you dont want to stop the paint from releasing its gases and getting trapped under a coating or a ppf in case of future damage potentially mate
very easy yer, whack it on then use one side to get 99% of it up. Then flip the cloth for a final light buff and thats it. It's ok, I'll stick with the Gyeon which should last double the time for similar money or less. Would have tried a 10 year coating though. Or even a 5 year. But 18 months? I'd rather just wax the car a couple times a year.
