So to combat this problem a pigovian tax would be good as it seems like the college board wouldn't exit the market because its total revenue is much greater than total cost. however, collegeboard like most of education is a positive externality, to which the solution would be to subsidize to collegeboard, internalizing the externality, to shift supply/mc to the right. So without numbers to calculate whether the DWL or externality not being realized is more significant, an economic policy cannot be determined.
The idea of guessing if a student cheated is absolutely stupid. I had a friend who took the SAT in freshmen year and received somewhere around 1100. He literally studied every weekend for a year and almost everyday during the summer for his sophomore year. He took the SAT again in his junior year and college board decided to nullify his score because "he improved too much for the second time taking the test" (the mock test he took was around 1500s). He was also banned from taking any more test from college board (both SAT and AP). He tried to contacted college board and basically got BS responses. His issue was never resolved.
Bro that story is insane, the entire system has so many flaws that continued to be exposed. I hope we see some changes after these past few years and hope that didn't ruin your friends chances of accomplishing what he wanted for college.
i feel very under prepared tbh and don't feel confident at all to take my exam. i just want to wing it and move on with my life because of how low i feel
Kristina Muharremaj that's exactly how i'm feeling ugh it sucks. i've had a horrible year and don't feel like i tried as hard as i could've for my ap classes.
The website is gonna crash because everyone has to submit within five minutes, the college board website works like crap normally there’s no way it won’t malfunction
For those that don't know, test takers in Asia have to take the test at 2 am in the morning. We put together a petition with more than 7000 signatures and sent them an email but they didn't give us any response. The question we asked were quite reasonable in my opinion. We simply wanted to know if we would get any sort of additional support given our VERY obvious disadvantage and why Asia had to take the blunt of this unfortunate situation.
@@MilesWare Thanks! We actually received an email from CB this morning. While there will be no change in the testing times, they did offer a range of different ways to support us through this difficult time, including a full refund, free CLEP retests, and an additional info session.
I wish they could fix this, but if they altered your time to a reasonable time that would change someone else in a different country to a time like yours. Someone has to get the blunt end of the stick, and since most people who take ap tests are in america ig they get majority.
I have done open book tests a lot before, don't be fooled thinking that it's easy as long as you have your notes. Make sure your notes are organized really well. Don't study the notes during the exam rather use the notes as last resort to actually help you out. A lot of people I know in university make the mistake of assuming that it's easy to just look at the notes and what they don't realize is that they waste their time going through the notes rather than actually answering the questions and they end up getting a poor grade if not failing. Just giving you guys a heads up if you have not done open book tests before!
As a senior, I just wish they cancelled it. Many colleges, such as Harvard, have said they're not accepting AP credit anymore. I just don't want to stress about this.
harvard not taking credit has nothing to do with the 2020 changes and so far no other elite school has announced they would change they’re ap policy due to said changes
The fact that most of the exams have been reduced to the hardest sections is going to ruin a lot of people’s scores. AP Spanish is strictly spoken this year which is by far the hardest portion of the test. These exams are simply not a good reflection of the level of student knowledge if they’re strictly focused on niche questions with the cushion portions of the tests gone altogether.
Yeah honestly writing is not my strong point so when I heard they were only going to do 2 FRQs for the AP human test I freaked the hell out. This whole thing has honestly been so stressful but I probably should’ve gotten a refund. Edit: typo
@Giorno Giovanna You don't need to be a good writer for AP exams (Unless you're doing lang or lit) You just need to know the rubric. And cheese the ever loving hell out of it.
I think this is true for all language exams. I’m in AP Japanese and speaking is not my forte. Worse off most questions will only be spoken in Japanese meaning if I don’t/misunderstand a question that’s a large portion of missed points
i just can’t even wrap my mind around the fact that college board decided it was okay to force a student to take a test that early in the morning...considering studies have been done that prove that, in a CLASSROOM setting, students don’t perform well at 8am, that puts them in a difficult spot to do well at freaking 4 am. i’m so sorry. this in and of itself just proves how ignorant CB is. i sincerely wish y’all the best.
Maddie R. Well they have to administer the tests at the same time regardless of time zone so someone is bound to get that treatment but that doesnt change the fact that it is BS
Another major issue with webcam proctoring (and webcams just in general) are privacy issues. Spying/hacking has been much more prevalent through webcams and your personal information could be compromised.
If they really cared that we perform well... they should've made it longer than 45 minutes. It's horrible to know that there are some extremely intelligent kids who are slow as hell. I AM SLOW AS HELL. I need more than 20 minutes to comprehend the question and just look over the documents! This test is just going to praise kids who cheat or can create a DBQ response faster than another kid.
@@rounos0384 okay so i took AP government and politics today and it was a 30 minute essay with 5 minutes to submit so it was really only 25 RIP and 1 short answer but it was a 3 prt question and had 15 minutes to write but in reality only 10 because of the 5min window, i didn't like it too much anxiety and you dont even have time to look at your notes ugh! Frustrating, anyways how was yours??
Jared Morales yup, I’m taking my ap psych test , and it’s going to be open notes, but the questions are going to be from the book the school provided to us, so basically, we can use the books to our advantage
In all honesty the remote proctoring makes no sense. you could just plug in a mic and turn off the input. Disable the webcam, who really uses them- of course they’re going to expect cheating, so end result, we all might just get our scores invalidated anyways. Ap Bio already took out the 2 easiest units, so they’re going to be ridiculously harder. By making the exams harder, your encouraging cheating so it’s a lose lose scenario.
It’s open note, difficult questions and short amount of time. If you don’t know it before and try to look up answers during the test, you’re going to fail, there’s simply not enough time. I’ve taken ap exams before and I know that once I’m finished reading the question, I better start writing out my answers right away because there is not enough time to simply think or search the web for an answer.
Jason Chan than no one will finish. No one who’s smart would actually try to be in a group call during the exam. Like I said, there’s no time for thinking, searching, or talking to friends on the test. And there’s multiple versions.
I feel like the time is a bigger issue than FRQ only. There is no reason to not make the exam 90 minutes long so they can test more material. Split it up into two 45 minute sessions if they have to
I'm worried that I'm not going to have enough time to process what the question is actually asking, and think of a response quick enough. The actual stress of it just makes it worse.
Arjun Chandrasekaran they said that after you press submit it will load for a while to fully submit and they made it so that while your test is still in the process of submitting you can move on to the next question. So as long as you press the button before the 5 minute time frame it will be marked on time even though it might take 5+ minutes to load and process and submit
I am just about the timeframe, especially for apush. I need about 55 minutes to complete one, so I’m worried I won’t finish in 45 minutes . Plus if others cheat I’m going to do worse in comparison.
You're not really going to be able to cheat for a DBQ. You won't have enough time. Also, any of the lazy people who never tried are unlikely to cheat because it is likely they never cared in the first place. They are also not gonna prosper and pass because DBQs require critical levels of thinking that you cannot simply look up.
Skip the conclusion if you have to. Focus on content, don't try to make it flow nicely. They don't care for how pretty it looks. Context Thesis Describe the docs HIPP them. Explain them. If you can do that, you've got most of the points. Just do *everything* you can, better to do too much than too little.
I just think it’s stupid that if I get a 5 they are going to flag me for cheating because I have never gotten that high of a score on any of my other tests through out the year even though I’ve studied my ass off
(I've been receiving practice FRQs that are like how college boards gonna do it and i finish it all in half the amount of time needed lolol. ) edit: my awful English skills do be showing themselves.
I'm glad that I'm a sophomore and not a junior/senior I would've been beyond pissed if this had happened during my most important academic years in highschool. 😤
@@lanalafontaine4280 Well it is rather unfair for students. Especially the ones that will have to take it as early as 2 am. Its understandable if they no longer wish to take it.
I'm in my junior year with 5 AP tests. The learning is severely stunted, and only some places offer online schooling. So the level of learning is skewed everywhere. Along with that, there's no way to prevent cheating. A teacher of mine mentioned IP tracking, which not only can be circumvented via a VPN, but also is a huge privacy issue. Not to mention a huge load on College Board servers, which could ultimately screw people over (the exams are at the same time for EVERY SINGLE STUDENT). So not only are they making questions impossible to research, they're completely disregarding the fact that some are in a better situation than others in terms of learning. But, in all fairness, it's a difficult situation. As a junior, my most important year, I'm stressing a lot, even with all the time in the world at home.
I have 3 AP as a junior and my friends have 4. I’m stressed to especially in the middle of the year but now I realized my health is declining because of a stupid exam that people think will help us but no half the colleges don’t care and I can succeed in life without so I shouldn’t care. I mean AP board sucks especially with the way they are handling isses
I know we have it bad-- but just imagine the kids in different time zones staying up till 12am, 2am, and 4am sessions just for the same AP tests... I feel horrible for them but at the same time Im freaking out myself
Also a junior, I've got 3 AP classes (most AP classes a junior can take, w/o literally being a native spanish speaker or being an absolute nut for art) My sleep schedule is fucked.
“While disappointing for our families, it is our understanding that only other alternative would have been to cancel exams in certain time zones, which would have been unacceptable. Having the opportunity to test, even at an inconvenient time, is better than the alternative." is there excuse for international students who have to wake up at 1am to take the exam that gives them no credit 🤦🏽♀️
Correction: Putting this here in case y’all didn’t see my note in the video but I referred to the Princeton Review as The College Board on accident, thanks.
Can you believe there are some students who still want to take this test? Can you actually believe there are some students who want to EARN their score? So honorable, geez.
@MonarchPlays That's your choice, to go to college. I definitely wouldn't want to get out of college faster, those 5 years were some of the MOST important years of my life. Additionally, it's not appropriate for CollegeBoard to give everyone a 5 and cancel the test administration just so you and others can save money. You can pay student loans, get scholarships or grants like everyone else. There are literally 100s of 1000s available. It does require research, effort, and hard work.
I just don’t see how the college board website is going to perfectly function when there’s thousands of students taking and submitting the test at the same time. The website WILL crash unless college board makes some adjustments to the website for the heavy traffic on test day
Since the tests are open note, we will have formula sheets and notes for how to do types of problems(for math and science tests). This means that the questions won't focus on memorization of a formula or of how to solve something, but instead on figuring out what to solve and what to plug in where. Really the only way to cheat is to collaborate with other test-takers or to have someone helping you. Collegeboard probably has a big library of AP problems, so they won't have a problem making it hard to cheat by collaboration in real-time. I'd bet most people won't be able to cheat, won't have time to cheat, or won't even try.
I googled real quick on my ap psych test, google definitions they are easier, but if you don't have definitions google the most basic thing you don't understand
I’m not even taking an AP exam and I feel like everyone taking this is getting screwed. This is your future! One question to decide it all. I’m nervous to see if schools will see how well everyone does this year and use that to turn away students because of the huge gap in scores next year. While I have some time before the exams, I don’t want this to affect my chances of getting into college. To everyone taking the exam this year, I wish you the best of luck. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
I don't even plan on cheating but I'm taping up my camera and disabling my mic. So sorry if college board is offended that I value my privacy and don't want them spying on me in my own bedroom.
Evan Young Meee, but fr tho Can’t believe the year I wanted to take a this class this happens. Imma throw some hands if all my studying for the past month ends up in me having a high score and then getting flagged by CB 😒😒
Hate this so much. Two frq questions are not enough for me to show what i learned by working my tail off this entire year. If i get unlucky and don’t know even one part of a question, it’s gonna screw my score over.
I got an email saying “It Is DeSiGnEd In A wAy WhErE yOu CaNnOt ChEaT yOuR dEvIcEs WiLl Be PlAcEd On LoCkDoWn” Like bruh all we gotta do is sign in to another email and we chillin they can’t lock down all of our devices and accounts
same, havent had time to study with the huge workload. Most of my friends are failing multiple classes and im starting to slip, hopefully a small study session will be enough to pass so I can quit worrying and fix my grades ;-;
You make a good point about the idea of making the AP Exams harder. Although it would be harder to utilize search engines. There’s still the idea of participating in chat rooms as well as discussing the questions with peers and others as well. I feel like that won’t change anything time and I’m not sure how College Board can prevent that.
@@MilesWare the tests will be administered at the same time around the world. Having a 45 minute compressed test will not give a student the ability to chat with other people because they simply will waste precious time and they won't have the ability to answer each question if they even tried to chat with other students. I guess that's why the College Board made a 45 minutes test
Our senior and freshman will have to take the AP exams at 8pm and 10pm because we live in Italy...We are US military living overseas. Those who are in Japan will have it worse as some exams are 2am.
I’m upset that students who have actually tried all year are now being completely set aside. I’ve tried my hardest all year in my AP class to prepare for this exam and now it seems like everyone can pass it, even those who probably shouldn’t have been in AP to begin with.
It’s not being selfish. Many people who are in AP classes haven’t put any effort in them all year and now, they are getting a loophole to pass the class and get a college credit. Real success does not come from imitation.
Nayomi AY Cause then it invalidates all the hard work that students had put into studying their AP subjects and the sacrifices they made. It’s not selfishness, it’s feeling cheated
Nayomi AY that’s an ignorant perspective. Junior and senior year many students, like myself, essentially threw away their social life and devoted every day, night, and weekend to school so that they could get 5’s on the AP test and good SAT scores. But now all of a sudden, it doesn’t matter as much because someone who put in 1/10th of the effort could receive the exact same score, thereby weakening the devoted student’s score and jeopardizing their opportunity for a 5.
I mean what really urks me about how the exam is formatted rn is that for exams with 2 questions, it's split between that 45 minute time frame. And you can't decide which question you want to focus on, unlike with regular AP exams where you have some freedom in the FRQs to skip around a bit and do what you're confident in.
im taking the hardest AP class ever.....AP studio art. it’s objective, so you can work for 100+ hours and still get a 3 bc the reviewer may not like your style. also I CANT even cheat! bc it was online to begin with. and I can’t even send in physical works and my art is textural. 😪 but GOOD LUCK to every!
You mean subjective? Objective means that a 5 always means you did better than a 3. It is a fact, whereas subjective is up to the reviewers digression.
Wags Actually art can be incredibly hard. You may have to use certain Materials that could cost a pretty penny. Good quality paper at a reasonable size could cost you at least 20 dollars for 30 pages (more $ if it’s painting paper) digital art is also expensive. My iPad Air 2 cost 200 or 300 dollars (I got it when they came out or rather my dad did as a present) and I bought so far 3 styluses my Black web which was 20 dollars, my Wacom bamboo fineline 3rd gen which was 50 or 60 dollars and now my Wacom Sketch 1st gen which I bought my self that was 70 dollars. And the program I use (app) is 10 dollars. I’m lucky enough I don’t have to spend deadass 635.88 dollars a year for all the adobe products (photoshop, indesign, and all that I think it’s like 20+ apps) and That’s why I went with apple because it was pretty cheap. Finding a decent pencil I use pentel and Bic mechanical pencils I love them they are pretty cheap but I run out of led fast so I buy a lot of them I go though like 3 packs a month. And paint brushes can go for 10 a brush (depends on what kind you are getting I’ve found some for like 5 dollars) that aren’t in those packs for kids (I do use those tho find the right ones they are pretty good) and canvases are crazy aswell, I use the cheap ones but them nice ones for like expensive are really nice good texture in the canvas and not as cheaply made. Don’t even get me started on decent paint lol I love thicker paint and they can cost 5 dollars a tube. Then the amount of time you spend of your work. I’ve worked for 5 hours straight and still only get half way done because the amount of detail. Then you have the teachers who will out right reject your work because you have “too much bright colors” or “you need to value” “where is your perspective?” Or maybe they will tell you to start over. Idk if your chem teacher ever told you to not turn something in or redo it because it doesn’t meet the standards after you worked 5 or 10 hours on but it can get pretty expensive. And people will give you a bad grade because they don’t like it also which is annoying.
Personally since my school has been cancelled I've had a LOT more time to study which will definitely improve my scores so that's also a factor to consider
Instead of giving us more time to study on our own, our teachers have given us tons of work every week that won’t help us with the exam. And that’s without mentioning the fact that two of them didn’t teach AT ALL all year long. My friends and I have been freaking out and trying our hardest to do study sessions together but what’s the point if we won’t be able to teach ourselves what we should have been learning all year. What’s the point when collegeboard is basically setting us all up for failure.
A big thing I was thinking of is how do they even know the student is taking the exam? A parent or older sibling who is better at the subject could easily just take the exam for you.
CosmosAblaze Actually from the official College Board website, they said that the curve is set before any student begins their exam. So other students getting a better score shouldn’t affect yours.
They also just announced that webcams will not be required for taking the AP Exams. That's great, but why then would proctoring even matter if there's no regulation to tell whether materials are used for cheating or not?
Bill Russell says they should just postpone the test while JJ and Ellie Hsu say seniors need the credit. Let’s just combine these two. We should post pone the test for everybody except seniors. I think this is the best option moving forward.
Do you guys remember what happened when The Jeffree and Shane palette was launched? The entire world was signing into Jeffree's website to buy it all at once and the site completely crashed because the internet literally can't support that many people at once. What do you think is going to happen when hundreds of thousands of students around the world are pressing the submit button in the same 5 minute window?
They just want more money. A level exam has even been canceled, why CB didn't do such a thing...I'm too nervous--only two questions, even a single mistake could make lower the score.
Trevor Packer the leader of AP planning said specifically there would be no proctor...Princeton review, just like their AP practice books, is usually misinformed
Rachel Bryant no at first they said they were going to but then they realized that there are too many problems so they said nvm and they won’t have online proctors
Who else feels bad about cheating and just takes notes or study anyway? I get that you can cheat on these exams, but maybe you'll probably won't have enough time once you finally find/write a good enough answer. Trust me, I tried. I 😂
I’m taking the AP Spanish test and I’m stressed bc our teacher had taught us practically nothing this year so I am not prepared and at this point it feels too late. I’m still doing the AP Spanish online lessons etc. but I just don’t think it’s going to be enough.
I'm genuinely scared because, as someone who'll be taking the AP Spanish test, I need to do one of the most unnerving things; recording myself giving a speech in full-blown spanish, no stuttering. If they're not bullshitting to butter us up, I'm going to be one of the first middle-school beta testers to see if middle school students to come are ready to take the test ((which we're obviously not because it's a fuck-ton of stress to put on our shoulders)) where they're going to give us ONLY 45 MINUTES to complete 2 whole speaking sections. I genuinely wish they'd just given us the 3 hours, because as one expects from a middle schooler, I fucking hate my voice. I'm gonna need to re-record that shit forever, draining up all of the test time and fucking everything up. Please, just give us our vacation
It is a 2 min. speech and an interview that lasts about 3 minutes total. You do not get to re-record. It will actually be less than 45 minutes because that's all you need. And, no, middle school students should not be taking this. That's ridiculous.
What even constitutes as cheating? Looking up the answer and writing what you see? Asking someone for the answer on the question? Nah that doesn't help anyone. In the real world, when you have a REAL job if you tried to do everything by yourself without asking anyone for help you better hope you are right 110% of the time bc you will get fired so fast. Every boss i've worked for ever has wanted me to ASK or LOOK up what i need to solve the problems. The idea of cheating is flawed all because for some reason higher scores = higher merit. People need to realize that just bc you know how to answer a open ended question on a paper or answer some multiple choice questions (because you memorized it or guessed it) that it doesn't mean you are capable in the real world. Universities are garbage at preparing people with things they actually need. Top comment is literally "up vote if college board is ruining teenagers across america" and i couldn't agree anymore.
you were right about the second option of cheating prevention. ap questions are def harder this year, and they are not fact-recall based, and instead there’s a lot of connection students gotta do on their own that google won’t help u with.
corona: HAHA im ruining the world. College board: Ok team listen, we are not gonna be responsible for any of the money they paid us. Team: ok boss got it, remote proctors. Me : chilling with dual monitors :D
the fact that we still have to take theses exams is literally stupid. college board knows that the students won't be doing as good as they would if they were taking it at school. i feel so unprepared for this exam, and i'm sure thousands of other students do, too. it, honestly, blows my mind that college board is so hungry for money that they are still making students take the exam under pressure and under the wrong circumstances. a lot of colleges aren't even accepting the class as college credit anymore, due to the fact that it got cut short.
I'm just upset that I spent a whole year studying so hard for AP world history and my entire exam score is based on a 45-minute DBQ. (sorry, I know this is maybe a small problem)
smh my ap world history exam is only nine days from now and i gotta worry about practicing DBQs. i have so many absences from online school and my year has just been depressing overall. i feel alone because almost all of my classmates abandoned me. not to mention the fact that i am essentially ditching my other classes just to have a chance of succeeding on the ap exam.
And then there’s me: a senior who literally cannot care anymore and is just skipping all of them. I’m not exactly losing money either since I don’t have the money for a 4 year and because of corona basically making the final push and forcing my hand to go to community college close to home Why would I pay a 4 year tuition for online classes?
Up to what extent can we even use our notes? Since it’s open note, isn’t that in a way cheating? I mean we have access to information that gives us a clear advantage during a test as notes will help us organize answers.
my AP exam for world history is on thursday and i'm already stressed knowing that i might not even be able to upload my answers, secondly, i was doing pretty well as an average student in my class since i learn better visually and in person. ever since corona started, i have been dealing with a severe lack of focus and i take longer to comprehend what i am reading. for example, i was completing practice DBQs and it took me longer than usual to look through the documents since i couldn't understand the significance or what it was trying to say. i've forgotten a ton of information i have learned during the school year such as earlier units like units 1-3. even when i try to study now, the information goes through one ear and out the other and i feel as if i'm getting no where. i'm also not a good note taker, so i'm scared my notes will be useless during the test. i'm not excelling in my other classes either since this pandemic has started. i went from having an average of all A's maybe one B here or there to now having grades that are C's, D's, and B's because i can not comprehend teaching materials without a proper explanation. i really miss school, and i took it for granted. i can't even show my true potential during this time, as my comprehension skills and critical thinking have gone down the drain. honestly, i'm losing hope for myself, i have many missing assignments as a result of me not completing them since i cant even focus and complete them in the first place. i also procrastinate, which has gotten worse doing this time (which ended up leading to me not being able to complete assignments at all). my school has called my parents about my dropping grades and i feel so disappointed and ashamed of myself i don't know what to do, to make matters worse, i had to deal with personal reasons at the start of us remaining in quarantine that resulted in me crying almost every week. i really need help cause i don't know what to do since this is the first ap exam i'm taking and i'm super stressed about it. if you're still reading this, thanks for taking the time to read my crappy rant, and i hope you excel on your ap exams if you haven't taken them yet
i just want to let you know that you are definitely NOT alone in your situation AT ALL. im also going to be taking my first ap exam which is the ap world history test on Thursday and im scared shitless. I literally did a practice dbq with a few friends a few hours ago and i did absolutely terrible. i had no idea what the documents were telling me and i wasted all my time in unnecessary context. i wasn't even able to answer the question fully. afterwards i spent like two hours crying about how i believe i won't be able to pull off the exam in just 45 minutes. ever since quarantine started and remote learning was issued in my state, i found it extremely overwhelming to adapt to these new circumstances. yes it's nice to sit in my home all day but that just means im prone to procrastination. thankfully, none of my grades dropped at all and im maintaining all As except for one B (ironically its my APWH grade) however, nowadays i just cant seem to focus like i used to. i, too, took school for granted and i miss school so freakin much right now. I've been feeling like that prob three weeks into quarantine. i spent many hours TRYING to study after completing my mandatory review packets for my classes but its too difficult for me to maintain any of the information. i really feel like im at my lowest because after so many weeks of trying to prepare for this one exam, i see the result of all my hard work into this one practice dbq today. i am so ashamed because I know what i wrote today doesn't compare to anything that I've previously done for my class. however the time limit of 45 mins is extremely pressuring and it really got to me to the point that i simply gave up because i knew it was hopeless. and now i have no idea what to do in the next two days because im afraid what happened today will be the same on Thursday. im really sorry about your issues though. i pray that things will work out in your favor. I've been scrolling through the comments and NEVER have i sympathized more than with your rant.
Kate Yu thank you so much, it feels so much better knowing that someone else feels the same way as me :(( btw i took my test and i totally bombed it AHHH xD
College Board is a monopoly on education
it needs to be abolished
Education is much easier as one system to make it more equal, but when it becomes a business, the monopoly starts to demonstrate its flaws

This actually makes me mad. Collegeboard has been doing some bullshit things in the past but this can literally ruin someone’s future.
Tell your friend to sue.
i bet that's classic asian discrimination
That's wack.

ramen noodle right. I just want to get the exam done and move on with my life yk?
Yeah. Same here, but I sure hope you're studying instead of winging it. 😉
Kristina Muharremaj same here. I’m studying but I feel like no matter how hard I study I’m not gonna do well :( I just want this to be over

That’s rough, I hope they can figure something out bc there is a clear disadvantage. Good luck on your exams and I hope they figure something out soon
@@MilesWare Thanks! We actually received an email from CB this morning. While there will be no change in the testing times, they did offer a range of different ways to support us through this difficult time, including a full refund, free CLEP retests, and an additional info session.

T. Wang that’s ridiculous
I wish they could fix this, but if they altered your time to a reasonable time that would change someone else in a different country to a time like yours. Someone has to get the blunt end of the stick, and since most people who take ap tests are in america ig they get majority.

Wafa Bhayani yes, they did (:
I have done open book tests a lot before, don't be fooled thinking that it's easy as long as you have your notes.
Make sure your notes are organized really well.
Don't study the notes during the exam rather use the notes as last resort to actually help you out.
A lot of people I know in university make the mistake of assuming that it's easy to just look at the notes and what they don't realize is that they waste their time going through the notes rather than actually answering the questions and they end up getting a poor grade if not failing.
Just giving you guys a heads up if you have not done open book tests before!

Plus, all the Mexican/other Hispanic kids can now even more easily hack through their exams because they speak the language.
Yeah honestly writing is not my strong point so when I heard they were only going to do 2 FRQs for the AP human test I freaked the hell out. This whole thing has honestly been so stressful but I probably should’ve gotten a refund.

You don't need to be a good writer for AP exams (Unless you're doing lang or lit)
You just need to know the rubric. And cheese the ever loving hell out of it.
I think this is true for all language exams. I’m in AP Japanese and speaking is not my forte. Worse off most questions will only be spoken in Japanese meaning if I don’t/misunderstand a question that’s a large portion of missed points
I think they should just postpone it. To many difficulties

Lachlainn O’Donnell facst
Lachlainn O’Donnell true, the only way to prevent cheating is making multiple sets of exams
Big fakts, fakts with a k
It’s open note, difficult questions and short amount of time. If you don’t know it before and try to look up answers during the test, you’re going to fail, there’s simply not enough time. I’ve taken ap exams before and I know that once I’m finished reading the question, I better start writing out my answers right away because there is not enough time to simply think or search the web for an answer.
why not discuss it with the gang
They are designed so that kids can’t finish them this year- regardless of cheating
They said it on their website that there will be more questions that can be answered smh
@@sarahhowes8759 but I don't get it. If you don't finish can you still get a 5 or 4 cause I have seen on their website that it is on purpose lmaoo
Split it up into two 45 minute sessions if they have to
Blah yeah it was so stupid on their part for that, why have more time for one question and not the other.
Honestly I'd rather just get it over with in 45 min rather than having to sit down for 90 min
Typing is way faster than writing. 45 mins is actually longer when you take that factor into account.
I'm worried that I'm not going to have enough time to process what the question is actually asking, and think of a response quick enough. The actual stress of it just makes it worse.
I know that AP chem is designed to be unfinishable with or without cheating
My biggest fear is how the servers will handle everyone in the world trying to access the test all at once
Yeah they only give a 5 minute time frame for submitting the test, like what if your internet connection is slow or something

If the collegeboard does make it harder and more specific, won’t it encourage people to cheat more?
I mean it depends because their real motive to for people to study even harder but...most people don’t fall to that
Since the tests are open note, we will have formula sheets and notes for how to do types of problems(for math and science tests).
There will be students out there who pay for others to take the AP for them :/

There’s still the idea of participating in chat rooms as well as discussing the questions with peers and others as well. I feel like that won’t change anything time and I’m not sure how College Board can prevent that.
Wow I didn’t even think about chat rooms, there are way too many things for the college board to control😂
Well whats wrong with everyone succeeding stop being so selfish
It’s not being selfish. Many people who are in AP classes haven’t put any effort in them all year and now, they are getting a loophole to pass the class and get a college credit. Real success does not come from imitation.
Nayomi AY Bc not everyone can get a 5, it’s like the smallest percent of the top scores
Wow that’s sounds like an interesting and demanding class, wishing you the best of luck on your exams!
You mean subjective? Objective means that a 5 always means you did better than a 3. It is a fact, whereas subjective is up to the reviewers digression.
Dmitri Moua bro my school doesn’t have a proper heated room for our art class forget AP I wish I had AP
Lmao how can drawing be that hard ive got Chem on Thursday so pls chill
Wags
Actually art can be incredibly hard.
And people will give you a bad grade because they don’t like it also which is annoying.
rip everyone who bought wood pencils
Lmao “ explain your answer “ and ”Show your work”
Personally since my school has been cancelled I've had a LOT more time to study which will definitely improve my scores so that's also a factor to consider
Glad to hear that!

Anastasia it’s a stupid idea, collegeboard set us up for failure.
They just want more money. A level exam has even been canceled, why CB didn't do such a thing...I'm too nervous--only two questions, even a single mistake could make lower the score.
Even with open notes watch me still fail lol
Also we should all come back here and share our scores after they grade it
Trevor Packer the leader of AP planning said specifically there would be no proctor...Princeton review, just like their AP practice books, is usually misinformed
Rachel Bryant no at first they said they were going to but then they realized that there are too many problems so they said nvm and they won’t have online proctors
Where did you see that Packer said there was no proctor?
Kylie Schwartz I am an AP teacher, and he clearly stated it in our AP webinar
If they chase my IP address I’m gonna sue them, we’re talking about apple’s privacy systems here
What does Apple have to do with your IP...?
FEELING LIKE G7 D_L. Let’s just hope we read the fine print in the terms and conditions 🤦🏽♀️
Anddd internationally, we have to take it at 1 am!!!
I will be taking it at 3 am lmao
Omg, that sucks, imma take mine at 8pm so thats not so bad but dang
Cubing!
Who else feels bad about cheating and just takes notes or study anyway?
I get that you can cheat on these exams, but maybe you'll probably won't have enough time once you finally find/write a good enough answer.
Trust me, I tried. I 😂
If it weren’t for those 18k ppl that voted for the exam to still be on 🙄 why can’t they just postpone it I’m screwed fml
I’m taking the AP Spanish test and I’m stressed bc our teacher had taught us practically nothing this year so I am not prepared and at this point it feels too late. I’m still doing the AP Spanish online lessons etc. but I just don’t think it’s going to be enough.
I can make the test for 50dlls I passed the Ap Spanish test last year with a 5
@@calvinpereda 50 dollars?
Why did I watch this video if I'm in AP Human, and no colleges give a crap about AP Human. I'm stressing over something so little lol
how did you do on the exam bro
@@nbacurly Got a 3
I'm genuinely scared because, as someone who'll be taking the AP Spanish test, I need to do one of the most unnerving things; recording myself giving a speech in full-blown spanish, no stuttering.
@@bethstrug272 i took AP spanish in middle school, and it's not ridiculous tf
you can't re record yourself on the normal test.... you have 2 mins to respond and turn in whatever was recorded.
@@bethstrug272 We were told we could re-record...please tell me you know this for sure
Ugh I thought they would make the test slightly easier knowing our circumstances 🤦♀️😭😭
Just watch as people transfer over to Minecraft Servers to talk
Having taken two exams till this point, even if someone had a slight desire to cheat, there’s simply no time! Collegeboard did well in that regard!
corona: HAHA im ruining the world.
College board: Ok team listen, we are not gonna be responsible for any of the money they paid us.
Team: ok boss got it, remote proctors.
Me : chilling with dual monitors :D
either way they can’t record us we minors lol
the fact that we still have to take theses exams is literally stupid. college board knows that the students won't be doing as good as they would if they were taking it at school. i feel so unprepared for this exam, and i'm sure thousands of other students do, too. it, honestly, blows my mind that college board is so hungry for money that they are still making students take the exam under pressure and under the wrong circumstances. a lot of colleges aren't even accepting the class as college credit anymore, due to the fact that it got cut short.
this years ap exam isn't testing what you know or learned, its testing your ability to google
I'm just upset that I spent a whole year studying so hard for AP world history and my entire exam score is based on a 45-minute DBQ. (sorry, I know this is maybe a small problem)
I have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about the boys and I are just hanging out on discord
The guy in the video isn’t associated with the college board. He works for the Princeton review.
Thank god this is only junior year APs for me. Next year I am taking way more and would have been so overwhelmed and confused
This is also my junior year and I'm only taking one AP exam this year. Next year will be two exams.
I feel like I'm now taking a second online course on HOW to take the AP tests rather than actually showing my knowledge of the material.
Knew this guy was legit when he said “take the L”
smh my ap world history exam is only nine days from now and i gotta worry about practicing DBQs. i have so many absences from online school and my year has just been depressing overall. i feel alone because almost all of my classmates abandoned me. not to mention the fact that i am essentially ditching my other classes just to have a chance of succeeding on the ap exam.
How about the fact that the AP Chem exam was made so that students couldn't even finish it??
Dude I hate writing stuff in 45 minutes
Everyone pray that someone hacks the website or something wrong goes on
They’re just gonna reschedule it :(
For the AP Exam demo I just submitted a paragraph of "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"
And then there’s me: a senior who literally cannot care anymore and is just skipping all of them. I’m not exactly losing money either since I don’t have the money for a 4 year and because of corona basically making the final push and forcing my hand to go to community college close to home
Why would I pay a 4 year tuition for online classes?
Up to what extent can we even use our notes? Since it’s open note, isn’t that in a way cheating? I mean we have access to information that gives us a clear advantage during a test as notes will help us organize answers.
it is an open not test.
Open note is open note.
Don't get caught in the trap of relying on your notes. Not enough time for that shit.
We all know College Board just didn't want to refund the exam fees.
Yeah, that’s there biggest source of money, not the ACTs not the SATs but the AP tests
Having to review an entire years worth of content all for one question that is just about a sliver of niche information... How exciting.
my AP exam for world history is on thursday and i'm already stressed knowing that i might not even be able to upload my answers, secondly, i was doing pretty well as an average student in my class since i learn better visually and in person. ever since corona started, i have been dealing with a severe lack of focus and i take longer to comprehend what i am reading. for example, i was completing practice DBQs and it took me longer than usual to look through the documents since i couldn't understand the significance or what it was trying to say. i've forgotten a ton of information i have learned during the school year such as earlier units like units 1-3. even when i try to study now, the information goes through one ear and out the other and i feel as if i'm getting no where. i'm also not a good note taker, so i'm scared my notes will be useless during the test. i'm not excelling in my other classes either since this pandemic has started. i went from having an average of all A's maybe one B here or there to now having grades that are C's, D's, and B's because i can not comprehend teaching materials without a proper explanation. i really miss school, and i took it for granted. i can't even show my true potential during this time, as my comprehension skills and critical thinking have gone down the drain. honestly, i'm losing hope for myself, i have many missing assignments as a result of me not completing them since i cant even focus and complete them in the first place. i also procrastinate, which has gotten worse doing this time (which ended up leading to me not being able to complete assignments at all). my school has called my parents about my dropping grades and i feel so disappointed and ashamed of myself i don't know what to do, to make matters worse, i had to deal with personal reasons at the start of us remaining in quarantine that resulted in me crying almost every week. i really need help cause i don't know what to do since this is the first ap exam i'm taking and i'm super stressed about it.
if you're still reading this, thanks for taking the time to read my crappy rant, and i hope you excel on your ap exams if you haven't taken them yet
i just want to let you know that you are definitely NOT alone in your situation AT ALL. im also going to be taking my first ap exam which is the ap world history test on Thursday and im scared shitless.
Kate Yu thank you so much, it feels so much better knowing that someone else feels the same way as me :((
btw i took my test and i totally bombed it AHHH xD
im not koo no way! I’m sure we both did well! Let’s be glad the exam is over
one of my history ap tests is literally just one dbq.. hope I dont mess up XD
